Bai Suzhen watched over Xu Xian's lifeless body, regretting all the time they had missed. She released the beautiful moonlight she had collected, illuminating the room, and then leaned in to kiss Xu Xian, transferring her thousand-year demon core into him. Instantly, Xu Xian, who had been on the verge of death, revived. The next morning, the couple awoke, tenderly gazing at each other.

Xu Xian, still believing he was dreaming, expressed deep regret for having pushed Bai Suzhen away before, vowing never to let her leave him again and to spend all of eternity with her. When Bai Suzhen rose to fetch medicine for him, she discovered the room filled with paintings of herself, realizing the depth of his lovesickness, which he confirmed was cured only by her presence.

Xu Xian then recounted a vivid dream he had while dying, of them marrying and growing old together. Bai Suzhen, touched by his devotion and having sacrificed her cultivation for this moment, corrected him, promising not just one lifetime but "forever and ever" together. Overcome with emotion, Xu Xian insisted that his sister officially propose to Bai Suzhen that very day.

Xu Jiaorong was overjoyed to see her brother on his feet, but her husband, Chief Constable Li Gongfu, grew suspicious of Bai Suzhen. He recalled how Fahai's Demons' Weeping Sword glowed in the presence of demons and questioned how Bai Suzhen, an unknown, could cure Xu Xian when all of Lin'an's renowned doctors had failed.

Bai Suzhen fabricated a story about her long-lost uncle, a physician from Suzhou who possessed an antidote to all poisons, and claimed he had recently arrived in Lin'an. Gongfu, finding her explanation inconsistent with her earlier claims of having no family in Lin'an, pressed further, even questioning how she entered their locked house in the middle of the night. Despite Gongfu's relentless questioning, Xu Xian, on his knees, declared his long-standing love for Bai Suzhen and proposed marriage.

Though Xu Jiaorong was delighted, Gongfu urged for caution, suggesting they visit Bai Suzhen's uncle to formally propose. Bai Suzhen then revealed her "uncle" was staying at her own mansion in Lin'an, making arrangements for the Xu family to visit the next day. As Xu Xian walked Bai Suzhen out, they shared a tender moment, discussing their upcoming engagement and the joy of being together.

Unknown to them, Jin Ruyi had been lingering outside the Xu household, hoping to encounter Xu Xian. Seeing him accompany Bai Suzhen out and overhearing their wedding plans, her heart shattered. Feeling utterly abandoned and financially ruined, Ruyi contemplated suicide at a cliff edge. She hesitated, however, concerned about marring her beauty if she jumped. Just then, an itinerant doctor appeared, who was in fact a thousand-year-old toad demon.

He had met Ruyi previously when she was desperately seeking medicine for Xu Xian and had secretly followed her ever since. Startled by his sudden appearance, Ruyi slipped and fell, but the toad demon swiftly rescued her. Seeing a glimmer of hope in his unexpected presence, Ruyi brought him back to the long-closed Jishi Clinic, intending to revive her family's business with his purported ancestral medical prescriptions.

Meanwhile, Gongfu, still deeply uneasy about Bai Suzhen's origins and Xu Xian's sudden marriage, despite Xu Jiaorong's scolding, went to seek out Fahai. He found Fahai preparing to leave Lin'an after the earlier demon threat had passed. Gongfu explained his brother-in-law's situation and asked to borrow Fahai's Demons' Weeping Sword again, noting how it glowed every time the mysterious woman was near.

Fahai immediately recognized the woman as Bai Suzhen and was shocked that Xu Xian intended to marry a snake demon. Hurrying back to Xu Xian's home, Fahai advised him against a hasty marriage, warning of future troubles. He then sensed a powerful, thousand-year-old demon core within Xu Xian, realizing Xu Xian should have been dead.

Fahai deduced that Bai Suzhen must have given her demon core to Xu Xian to counteract the poison, leaving Xu Xian "similar to a demon yet not a demon," a phenomenon Fahai had never before witnessed. Confused, Fahai pondered whether a demon without its core was still a demon, and whether Bai Suzhen was truly a demon now. Unable to reconcile this unprecedented situation, Fahai decided he must seek guidance from his master.

Later, the Xu family, along with Gongfu, visited the Bai Mansion. Bai Suzhen's "uncle," a benevolent but fabricated figure, formally approved the marriage. Betrothal cards were exchanged, and an auspicious wedding date was chosen, finalizing the union. Back at her home, Bai Suzhen was confronted by Jing Song, who had returned to forcefully take her back to Emei. He warned her against the consequences of a human-demon union, predicting divine wrath and her eventual regret.

Bai Suzhen, however, steadfastly refused, declaring she would never regret her decision and would face any consequence. Jing Song, realizing she no longer possessed her demon core, was shocked. Bai Suzhen reaffirmed that her time with Xu Xian surpassed a millennium of cultivation and that she only wished to grow old with him. She then defiantly told Jing Song that if he intended to harm Xu Xian, he would have to kill her first.

Acknowledging her unwavering determination, Jing Song conceded, declaring he could wait for a hundred years. Back at the Xu household, everyone was still worried about Jin Ruyi's disappearance, fearing her unrequited feelings for Xu Xian. Xiao Qing, arriving with the guest list from the Bai Mansion, casually mentioned seeing Ruyi at the Jin Mansion (now Jishi Clinic) with a man who seemed entirely submissive to her. The family concluded Ruyi had impulsively brought a random man home out of heartbreak. Concerned, Xu Xian decided to visit Ruyi himself, arriving at the Jishi Clinic to find Ruyi and the mysterious man.
