With the help of the leather parachutes, Guo Jing and Huang Rong led the soldiers to fly into the city of Samarkand, successfully opening the city gate to help Temujin enter with his cavalry. By the time Wanyan Honglie received the news and dispatched troops, it was already too late.

Guo Jing originally wanted to go south with his mother to visit their hometown, but Temujin flatly refused, citing the dangers of the battlefield. Guo Jing did not want to collude with the enemy for glory, so he decided to take his mother back to Lin'an that very night. As Guo Jing was about to leave that night, he was discovered by Temujin. Guo Jing believed that Temujin, allied with the Great Song to attack the Jin people, had broken the alliance halfway, which was not the act of a hero. Temujin did not think he had broken the alliance.

He ordered Guo Jing to be court-martialed for opening the silk pouch and defying military orders. Huazheng and Tuolei pleaded for Guo Jing. Temujin asked Guo Jing to swear allegiance to the Mongol tribe, but Guo Jing steadfastly refused to destroy the Song. Temujin ordered his men to bring Li Ping to threaten Guo Jing.

Li Ping mentioned that Qiu Chuji's original intention when naming Guo Jing and Yang Kang was to hope that they would not forget the Humiliation of Jingkang. Li Ping did not want her son to become a traitor. She told her son to do what he wanted to do and become the person he wanted to be. Then Li Ping committed suicide with a dagger and died in Guo Jing's arms. --- Guo Jing buried his mother in an oasis.

Tuolei and Huazheng came looking for him there. Knowing that they could not keep Guo Jing, they specifically came to say goodbye. Huazheng secretly telling Temujin about Guo Jing's departure was just because she wanted to keep him, but she didn't expect that this would lead to the death of Guo Jing's mother. Huazheng blamed herself and wanted to atone with her death. Guo Jing stopped Huazheng.

He did not blame her and also thanked them both for coming to see him off. Guo Jing bid farewell to Tuolei and Huazheng and returned to Lin'an, but he was surrounded and beaten by the common people of the Great Song. Fortunately, Qiu Chuji and Ke Zhen'e appeared and rescued Guo Jing. Guo Jing was greatly struck by the deaths of his mother and Huang Rong.

Although he had practiced martial arts since childhood, he couldn't even protect his closest family, lover, and master. Upholding chivalry felt meaningless.
