Yang Kang and others sensed something was wrong and entered Drunken Immortal Inn to check, finding no trace of Guo Jing and the others. It turned out that Ke Zhen'e was originally from Jiaxing and was quite familiar with the innkeeper of Drunken Immortal Inn. Later, to prevent accidents, the innkeeper dug a secret passage from the back kitchen leading outside. Ke Zhen'e led everyone to escape to safety.

Yang Kang, along with the four top experts from the Prince's manor, stopped Guo Jing and demanded the Treatise in Wumu's Mausoleum. They discovered Sha Gu's whereabouts and learned from her that the Seven Freaks of Jiangnan were also on Peach Blossom Island.

Huang Rong guessed that Yang Kang and others had killed the Five Freaks of Jiangnan, as she knew her father would not have left other people's bodies near her mother's grave. Huang Rong revealed that Ouyang Feng and Yang Kang had killed the Five Freaks of Jiangnan, deliberately leaving Ke Zhen'e alive, solely to frame Huang Yaoshi for the deed.

For this purpose, Huang Rong took out the small emerald shoe that her second master held tightly in his hand before his death. This object was the token from Mu Nianci's martial arts competition to choose a husband. Upon learning the truth, Ke Zhen'e was filled with anger. Ouyang Feng and others also sensed the commotion. Just when Yang Kang was injured by it, he was also poisoned.

To avenge his nephew, Ouyang Feng told Wanyan Honglie and others that Yang Kang had been poisoned by snake venom, and that anyone scratched by the poisoned person would also contract the poison. Wanyan Honglie pleaded with Huang Rong to save Yang Kang for the sake of Mu Nianci, but Huang Rong stated that Ouyang Feng's poison was incurable.

Huang Rong agreed to leave with Ouyang Feng, instructing Ke Zhen'e to take good care of himself before parting. Qiu Chuji and Guo Jing searched for them and found Ke Zhen'e here.

Seeing Yang Kang's tragic death, Guo Jing felt sorrow in his heart. Qiu Chuji also blamed himself for not having educated Yang Kang properly. Guo Jing personally buried Yang Kang, fulfilling the bond of brotherhood between them.
