Shimazaki Tadashi came to find Bell. Cheng Yizhi quickly found an excuse to leave. Shimazaki Tadashi learned that Bell's western-style clothes shop was doing badly; even the apprentices had been dismissed. He promised to help Bell introduce customers, took her hand and left, directly arriving at the place where Bell had given him a suit. Shimazaki Tadashi proposed to Bell on the spot, and Bell happily accepted.
Since Feng Youru did not lend a hand, Huang Ruhong lost the election for the Chamber of Commerce president. Wu Lizi remained fearless in the face of danger, skillfully maneuvering with Zheng Shanfeng. Zheng Shanfeng threatened to demand money from Cheng Yizhi. Wu Lizi threatened and intimidated him, but he was fearless, tightly choking Wu Lizi, intending to sexually assault her. Wu Lizi advised Cheng Yizhi to cherish Dai Ailing's feelings, promising never to disturb him again, and wished them both happiness. Dai Ailing urgently came to find Cheng Yizhi. Wu Lizi quickly hid and left. Dai Ailing took out a newspaper; the front page headline reported the news of their engagement. Dai Ailing did not know how to deal with these rumors.
