Sweet Combat Episode 6 Recap
> Sweet Combat Recap
The following day, Ming Tian apologized to Ming Zhu and Ming Lang, explaining that after a night of deep thought, he had resolved to grow stronger to protect them and ensure no one would look down on them again. He declared his decision to enter the Zhengze League Match preliminaries, which delighted his siblings.
He also agreed to let them join the Taekwondo Club, setting three rules: it must not affect their studies, they must not use their skills to start fights, and a third rule he did not get to state before they excitedly agreed to everything. At the Zhengze Boxing Club, Sun Hao tried to show off his physique, but the female students scattered. He lamented the stark difference in treatment between himself and Ming Tian, while Song Xiaomi playfully mocked him.
Later, during a Sanda class demonstration for freshmen, Fang Yu asked for a volunteer. Sun Hao eagerly stepped forward to be her partner. However, after only a few words, Fang Yu executed an over-the-shoulder throw, slamming him to the ground. She then proceeded to punch and kick him. Far from being upset, Sun Hao interpreted Fang Yu's actions as a "mark of love," choosing to savor the unique pain and considering the experience a "3D effect."
The principal called Ming Tian in to discuss his participation in the Zhengze League, which Ming Tian agreed to. Meanwhile, Song Xiaomi and Cheng Yanan were trying to brainstorm ways to convince Ming Tian to join the league when he suddenly appeared. Fearing he would refuse, they turned to flee, with Ming Tian chasing after them. To their surprise, Ming Tian's intention was to ask them to be his coaches.
They were taken aback by his packed schedule and sudden willingness to join the league. Later, while working at a coffee shop in a mascot costume, Ming Tian spotted Fang Yu outside. He quietly asked an employee to reserve the last strawberry ice cream for her. Watching Fang Yu's sweet smile from inside, Ming Tian couldn't help but smile himself.
At Cheng Yanan's family martial arts hall, Luo Guanyan was intrigued by what Cheng Yanan's father, Master Cheng, called the "Death Strike," though he clarified it was only a tenth of its true power. Luo Guanyan expressed a strong desire to learn the move. Master Cheng explained that the original master of the technique had passed away, leaving him as the sole living inheritor.
He laid out two conditions for teaching: an unconventional aesthetic taste with an appreciation for the beauty of violence, and tenacity, passion, and loyalty. Cheng Yanan arrived home to this scene and was furious to discover her father had agreed to coach Luo Guanyan, citing a previous grudge. Master Cheng tried to explain he was just following her previous advice to earn more money by taking on more students.
Cheng Yanan challenged her father to choose between them, prompting Master Cheng to add a third condition for Luo Guanyan: "If there is you, then there is her. If there is her, then there is you," subtly implying they must get along. As night fell, Ming Tian worked out while cleaning cars at a car wash, steeling his resolve to become stronger. The next day, the Zhengze League preliminaries groups were announced.
Ma Yichen and Luo Guanyan discovered they were in the same group as Ming Tian. Ma Yichen mockingly declared Ming Tian a "stepping stone," reminiscing about how Ming Tian used to carry his shoes and bags in high school, calling him a "complete rookie." Just then, Ming Tian appeared. Ma Yichen approached him, attempting to bully him again, but Fang Yu intervened swiftly.
After twisting Ma Yichen's arm, she reminded him of the rule that Zhengze students are not allowed to use force outside of competition. Luo Guanyan then sternly reprimanded Ma Yichen for bullying and apologized to Fang Yu for his club member's immaturity. Ming Tian, despite the help, expressed his intent to train seriously and face Ma Yichen in the preliminaries.
Fang Yu, meanwhile, was internally regretting her impulsive action, worried about others misinterpreting her motives, and then quickly dismissed the thought of people thinking she liked Ming Tian, finding the idea embarrassing. Later, Fang Yu met Cheng Yanan and Song Xiaomi at the school gate. Fang Zhou called Fang Yu to inform her that their grandfather was taking them to a dinner party.
Hearing Song Xiaomi's voice on the phone, Fang Zhou immediately asked Fang Yu to express his affection to her. Song Xiaomi, however, dismissed it as a child's joke, telling Fang Zhou that "no dating children" was the rule. In the car to the hotel, Fang Zhou correctly guessed that the dinner was a blind date with Chairman Wang's son, Wang Shiwei, who was around Fang Yu's age.
Fang Yu seemed to already know, redirecting the driver away from the direct route. Coincidentally, Ming Tian had just started his new job at the same hotel. He was told to be extra careful as VIP customers, including Chairman Wang, were no ordinary people. Upon entering the private room, Fang Yu recognized Wang Shiwei as her elementary school deskmate. A painful memory flashed in her mind: Wang Shiwei calling her a "monster" during her birthday party.
Uncomfortable, Fang Yu excused herself to step out, where she then saw Ming Tian in a server uniform. Ming Tian subtly followed her. He observed Fang Yu standing despondently by the window. Wang Shiwei soon joined her, trying to charm her. Fang Yu confronted him about calling her a monster in elementary school, leaving him flustered.
After Fang Yu left, Wang Shiwei took a call, revealing his true purpose for approaching her was merely to appease his father, and he still referred to Fang Yu as a "monster." Ming Tian overheard everything. Back inside the private room, Wang Shiwei, in front of the elders, formally invited Fang Yu to his birthday party. Fang Yu disliked him but found it hard to refuse.
At that moment, Ming Tian, as a server, "accidentally" spilled red wine on Wang Shiwei, saving Fang Yu from the predicament. Wang Shiwei erupted in anger. Fang Yu watched Ming Tian leave, deep in thought. Ming Tian, having changed out of his server uniform, was leaving the hotel dejectedly. Fang Yu caught up to him, demanding to know why he had intervened.
Ming Tian admitted he had unintentionally overheard their conversation and apologized for having called her a monster himself in the past, now understanding the painful history behind the word for her. He expressed understanding for her desire to be treated normally, not with sympathy. Fang Yu, in turn, proposed treating him to dinner. They went to a bustling food stall, where Fang Yu appeared uncomfortable, while Ming Tian thoroughly enjoyed his meal, calling it his "type of feast."
Sun Hao's mother, Mother Hao, served them noodles, prompting Ming Tian to tell Fang Yu to try some of Mother Hao's special chili sauce. As Ming Tian ate with relish, Fang Yu reluctantly took a bite. When a strand of Fang Yu's hair fell into her bowl, Ming Tian gently moved it aside, creating a subtle, tender moment. Sun Hao then arrived with his dog, "Best Fighter," whom he planned to rename "Best Eater" due to its appetite.
The three chatted lightheartedly until Fang Yu received a call and had to leave abruptly. Mother Hao insisted the meal was on the house. After Fang Yu left, Sun Hao, ever the gossip, pressed Ming Tian about his relationship with Fang Yu. Ming Tian tried to deflect, saying they were just classmates, but Sun Hao recalled Fang Yu's intervention on Ming Tian's behalf at school.
Sun Hao then confessed his own intention to pursue Fang Yu and asked Ming Tian for his support, which Ming Tian reluctantly gave after Sun Hao's persistent questioning. Sun Hao also extracted the detail that Fang Yu is afraid of cockroaches.
Later that night, Fang Zhou teased Fang Yu about having dinner alone with Ming Tian at a food stall, and her referring to him as "Ming Tian" rather than by his last name, implying their relationship was more than just ordinary. Fang Yu tried to change the subject by threatening him with a game of "Heart Attack." Fang Zhou also cleverly deduced that the waiter at the hotel who helped Fang Yu was indeed Ming Tian, noting his considerate actions. Fang Yu dismissed his observations and went to get cards for their game.
