Chen Yidu's mother dragged him to a blind date. Feeling embarrassed, Chen Yidu casually held a banana leaf to cover his face. He expressed his disinterest, stating he was only there to appease his mother. Li Weiwei, having already planned to win him over through his mother, was also present, wearing a mask. She confidently told Chen Yidu that his lack of interest was because he didn't know who she was.
As she dramatically removed her mask, Chen Yidu was utterly stunned to see Li Weiwei, reacting as if he had seen a ghost. He tried to leave immediately, but Li Weiwei held him back, refusing to let him go. After the date, Chen Yidu was furious upon realizing Li Weiwei had been secretly approaching his mother. He warned her to stay away from his mother, accusing her of having ulterior motives.
However, Li Weiwei and Chen's mother, who had forgotten the past, were baffled by his outburst. Meanwhile, Leo, to create a diversion for Li Weiwei, brought Huo Xiao to a movie. Huo Xiao felt very uncomfortable sitting amongst couples. At Chen Yidu's home, Tiffany took on the role of a full-time housemaid, cooking and cleaning, hoping to impress Chen Yidu.
However, Chen Yidu's mother, who had recently returned home from the hospital, did not favor Tiffany and treated her merely as a servant. Chen Yidu invited Mo Fan home for dinner. On their way, a piece of glass fell from a height, and Chen Yidu quickly pushed Mo Fan to safety, injuring his own hand in the process. At home, Chen's mother was confused by the presence of two "sons," asking which one she had given birth to first.
Chen Yidu playfully assured her that Mo Fan was his elder brother. Mo Fan, though smiling, lost his smile upon seeing a photograph of Chen Yidu's father, which triggered painful memories of his own parents' fatal car accident. Chen Yidu later told Mo Fan about his internal struggle: although his mother, despite her illness, still harbored affection for Li Weiwei, he himself couldn't forget the severe injury his mother sustained because of Li Weiwei in the past.
This deeply rooted fear made him doubt if he could ever overcome his inner obstacle to be with Li Weiwei. A flashback revealed that Chen Yidu's mother had suffered her brain injury, leading to Alzheimer's, after falling down the stairs during an intense argument between Chen Yidu and Li Weiwei when Li Weiwei insisted on moving out, and Chen's mother tried to stop her. Taking advantage of Chen's mother's return home, Li Weiwei orchestrated another encounter.
Leo distracted Tiffany, allowing Li Weiwei to take the disguised Chen's mother out for a shopping trip. Chen's mother mentioned wanting to tell Weiwei all the foods her son liked, but then couldn't find the pastry shop she usually frequented. Li Weiwei asked her to sit by the street while she went to look for it. Meanwhile, Kang Xing, acting on Mo Fan's instructions, followed them.
When Li Weiwei briefly stepped away, Kang Xing approached Chen's mother, falsely claiming that Chen Yidu had sent him to bring her home. After walking a few blocks, Kang Xing disappeared, leaving Chen's mother alone on the street. Disoriented, unable to find Li Weiwei, and unsure of her way back, Chen's mother panicked, stumbled, and broke her arm.
This incident was a calculated move by Mo Fan, who sought to make Chen Yidu experience the pain of losing a loved one, mirroring his own belief that Chen's family was responsible for his own family's loss. When Chen Yidu learned of his mother's injury, he was furious, blaming Li Weiwei for hurting his mother again. He cruelly declared to Li Weiwei that he would never love her in this lifetime, leaving her utterly disheartened.
Tiffany, frustrated at failing to fulfill Chen Yidu's task, also lashed out at Li Weiwei. Leo intervened to protect Li Weiwei, taking two slaps from Tiffany. He then decided on a more savage retaliation, digging a caterpillar from a flowerpot and slipping it into Tiffany's collar, causing her to scream in horror. While recuperating in the hospital, Chen's mother repeatedly asked to see Li Weiwei. To calm her, Chen Yidu lied, claiming he had a girlfriend.
This led to his mother constantly urging him to bring his girlfriend to meet her. Chen Yidu reluctantly tried to get Tiffany to impersonate his girlfriend, but his mother was not convinced. Li Weiwei, meanwhile, consulted Old Wan for advice on how to win over a mother-in-law, deciding to apply the same strategy to Chen's mother by treating her as her own. Li Weiwei then devised a plan, disguising herself as a nurse to visit Chen's mother in the hospital. Chen's mother was overjoyed to see Li Weiwei and quickly sent Tiffany away to buy pan-fried buns, eager to chat warmly with Li Weiwei.
