Sparkle Love Episode 6 Recap
> Sparkle Love Recap
Mai Sichong and Mei Weiwei met early in the morning at the basketball court for their agreed electrotherapy session. Mei Weiwei arrived with dark circles under her eyes, complaining about the early hour, while Mai Sichong playfully teased her about being sleepy and suggested they play basketball to wake up. Mei Weiwei just wanted to get the therapy over with, but Mai Sichong challenged her, saying if she could grab the ball from him, he would let her leave.
During their playful struggle, they accidentally embraced, and Mei Weiwei's sudden heart-pounding sensation caused static electricity to surge from her palm through Mai Sichong's chest, prompting her to quickly leave. Unbeknownst to them, Peng Pai had just entered the basketball court and witnessed their unexpected embrace, remarking to himself how strong Mei Weiwei's static electricity was.
Later, Mai Sichong received a call from a teammate, notifying him of a meeting with Fan Zengxiang, a senior from the Students' Association Union, in the lounge that afternoon. At the meeting, Fan Zengxiang, known for his arrogant demeanor, acknowledged the teammate's influence but demanded an apology from Mai Sichong before he would sign any papers for a new association.
When Mai Sichong's teammate tried to apologize on his behalf, Fan Zengxiang insisted on Mai Sichong apologizing personally, claiming to always separate private affairs from work. Mai Sichong's teammate then urged Fan Zengxiang to state his demands directly. Fan Zengxiang revealed that the Students' Association Union had a 20,000 yuan sponsorship deficit and, having heard that Mai Sichong lived in a villa at the foot of the mountain, suggested Mai Sichong handle the sponsorship.
Mai Sichong promptly agreed, on the condition that their prior conflict would be forgotten. Mei Weiwei met with Peng Pai, who revealed he had known about her secret static electricity since high school, having once seen her secretly charging a video game console. Mei Weiwei confirmed that Mai Sichong also knew but insisted he wouldn't tell anyone. Peng Pai, however, questioned if Mai Sichong was truly worthy of her trust just because he harbored feelings for her.
Mei Weiwei clarified that her electricity could create the illusion of love at first sight, and Mai Sichong would eventually "figure it all out" once he was no longer under its influence. Peng Pai then asked if high school misunderstandings about her were due to this, to which Mei Weiwei simply replied that it was all in the past. She then politely ended their conversation, citing prior commitments.
Mai Sichong soon approached Mei Weiwei, expressing his surprise that she had confided in Peng Pai. Mei Weiwei explained that Peng Pai had already known about her secret since high school, though they hadn't seen each other since. Mai Sichong playfully asked if everyone now knew she was "a Pikachu," to which Mei Weiwei retorted that he was the one "spreading the word" about her condition.
Mai Sichong then promised to protect her and retaliate against anyone who tried to bully her. He then possessively put his arm around Mei Weiwei's shoulder, and as they bantered, they both felt an unusual sensation. That night, Mei Weiwei was troubled by Peng Pai's frequent invitations and sought advice from her roommates on how to decline gracefully.
Her roommate advised her that if she didn't like him, she should tell him clearly, as dragging it on would only make it harder to express herself later. Meanwhile, Mai Sichong's mother entered his room without knocking. He asked her to teach him how to read an account book, explaining he suspected Fan Zengxiang of inflating figures within the Students' Association Union, having obtained a copy of the ledger from his roommate.
His mother teased him about his newfound interest in such matters, wondering if it was "related to Mei Weiwei." Despite Mai Sichong's denial, claiming it was for "justice," his mother remained unconvinced. The following morning at the swimming pool, Mai Sichong's coach reprimanded him for his poor performance and dark circles, inquiring about his activities the previous night. A teammate revealed that Mai Sichong hadn't returned to the dormitory, leading the coach to punish both of them with twenty laps.
The teammate then asked Mai Sichong why he was investigating Fan Zengxiang, hinting that Mai Sichong was doing it "for a woman." Mai Sichong confirmed his suspicion that Fan Zengxiang had indeed embezzled the Union's funds. Mei Weiwei and the class monitor approached Ms. Meiling, a teacher, to stamp their club application. Ms. Meiling refused, stating they needed the Students' Association Union chairman's signature first and advised them to communicate further with the Union.
Left with no other option, Mei Weiwei resolved to approach the chairman again. She found Fan Zengxiang directing others to put up a poster, rudely dismissing Mei Weiwei and the class monitor as incapable of handling even small tasks. Mei Weiwei attempted to apologize for a past incident, but Fan Zengxiang brushed her off, likening her to an annoying fly. Mei Weiwei then requested approval for the application form.
Observing Fan Zengxiang's repeated humiliation of Mei Weiwei, Li Daixi intervened, deliberately spilling a drink on Fan Zengxiang in the cafeteria. She offered a sarcastic apology, pretending to check if she herself had been scalded, then quickly departed, muttering about Fan Zengxiang bullying Mei Weiwei. Ding Yi, who witnessed the entire incident, confronted Li Daixi, commenting on Fan Zengxiang's gaze at her and asking if she acted for Mei Weiwei's sake, just like Mai Sichong.
Li Daixi expressed surprise that Mei Weiwei was starting an association, despite being her roommate. Ding Yi then offered to buy her dinner, but Li Daixi declined, citing her diet. Back in her dormitory, Mei Weiwei received a message from Ding Yi, who relayed how Li Daixi had stood up for her, even "following the senior like a pervert" to spill water on him. Ding Yi encouraged Mei Weiwei to reconcile with Li Daixi, saying Li Daixi looked sad.
Feeling a warmth in her heart, Mei Weiwei went to a coffee shop where her roommate Li Yuxin worked and ordered a strawberry cake for Li Daixi, choosing not to leave her name. Soon after, Mai Sichong called Mei Weiwei, asking her to meet him at Avatar Square. Before leaving, Mai Sichong had been with his mother, inquiring about the cost of a mural by the Students' Association Union chairman, suspecting inflated expenses.
His mother assured him that acrylic paint was inexpensive. Upon seeing Mei Weiwei, Mai Sichong declared he was doing "something big" for her but she didn't need to thank him. He presented her with a milk tea, which she eagerly accepted, asking how he managed to find it since it wasn't available near campus. Mei Weiwei then playfully teased Mai Sichong about athletes avoiding sugary drinks to maintain their performance.
Mai Sichong, in a defiant gesture, took a large gulp of the milk tea, proclaiming he would "break the record" even after drinking it. He struggled to open the lid properly. After some more banter, Mai Sichong playfully told Mei Weiwei to buy her own milk tea next time, playfully accusing her of "eating strange things like durian." Mei Weiwei then asked if they couldn't be friends.
Mai Sichong initially countered that their interests were too different to be friends, but after a moment of intense eye contact and physical closeness, he conceded and suggested they drink milk tea together again, then left. Mei Weiwei, having experienced another unexpected spark during their interaction, began to understand the reason behind her recent unusual feelings.
When Li Daixi arrived at the cafe to pick up the cake, the staff, Li Yuxin, informed her that no sender information had been left. Ding Yi, who was also present, commented on the cake's deliciousness, leading Li Daixi to mistakenly believe he had sent it. She thanked him, though she also called his gesture "old-fashioned" but accepted it because he "catered to her likes."
Ding Yi denied sending the cake, accusing her of talking "nonsense" and trying to "make him a scapegoat." Li Yuxin then intervened, asking if Li Daixi was "still mad at Mei Weiwei" for wanting to discard "the cake that she bought for you." Shocked, Li Daixi confirmed it was from Mei Weiwei. Overwhelmed with embarrassment, she quickly left the cafe.
Meanwhile, Mei Weiwei diligently cleaned the Students' Association Union floor, only for Fan Zengxiang to deliberately dirty it again, smugly asking her to reclean it. Peng Pai, witnessing this act of petty tyranny, stepped forward. As a former chairman, he admonished Fan Zengxiang, reminding him that his position was to serve the students, not to act like a tyrant.
Fan Zengxiang, attempting to retaliate, insulted Mei Weiwei, claiming she was notorious for having "so many men back her up," even the "former chairman." Peng Pai firmly stated that while he couldn't control Fan Zengxiang's personal affairs, he would absolutely intervene in Mei Weiwei's. Seeing that the situation was not in his favor, Fan Zengxiang quickly fled. Peng Pai then offered Mei Weiwei her favorite pineapple-flavored drink and invited her to the library, which she accepted.
Mai Sichong presented Ms. Meiling with the meticulously organized Students' Association Union account book, exposing Fan Zengxiang's fraudulent activities. Ms. Meiling was appalled by the "terrible book account," lamenting the chaos it brought to the university, a place meant for learning. She thanked Mai Sichong for reporting the situation and promised serious disciplinary action. Overjoyed, Mai Sichong immediately called Mei Weiwei to share the good news, but Peng Pai answered, explaining that Mei Weiwei had fallen asleep.
Hearing Peng Pai's voice, Mai Sichong's joy instantly turned to anger, and he abruptly hung up. He then went to wait in the hallway for the pair. When Mei Weiwei and Peng Pai appeared, Mai Sichong watched as Peng Pai handed Mei Weiwei a gift—a pair of pink gloves—explaining he had specifically bought them for her, as he had lost a similar pair he'd bought in high school. The sight of their intimacy became a thorn in Mai Sichong's side.
With a cold expression, he strode into their conversation, interrupting them, and announced it was time for his electrotherapy session with Mei Weiwei, then brusquely pulled her away. At the swimming pool, Mai Sichong feigned nonchalance and asked Mei Weiwei where she had been with Peng Pai and why he had answered her phone, claiming she was asleep. Mei Weiwei simply stated they were at the library and she had unintentionally dozed off.
Despite her simple explanation, Mai Sichong's jealousy intensified. He tried to share the good news about resolving the Students' Association Union issue, but Mei Weiwei was captivated by Peng Pai's gift, the pink gloves. Annoyed, Mai Sichong snatched the gloves from her. Mei Weiwei, exasperated by his childish behavior, demanded them back, asserting, "Peng Pai wouldn't be so petty as you." Infuriated, Mai Sichong flung the gloves into the pool.
Mei Weiwei, equally provoked by his childish outburst, chastised him to "grow up" and stormed away. Mai Sichong immediately dove into the pool and searched for some time before finally retrieving the pink gloves. Later, back in his dorm, he stared at his reflection in the mirror, his mind racing with confusion. The mixed feelings of bitterness and anger were overwhelming, and he couldn't understand why he felt this way. Mei Weiwei's words about Peng Pai not being petty echoed in his mind. He was deeply troubled, struggling to process these new and intense emotions.
