Zhang Jiayun was attending a cram school, and after class, Chen Lang arrived in a car to pick her up. He claimed he bought the car as soon as he heard Duan Ran was selling it, adding that he would sell it back to Duan Ran at a high price if Duan Ran ever wanted it. Duan Ran was having a bad day, facing continuous setbacks.

Qian Xixi was also frustrated; she had been rejected by Yuan Yuan and found that their inventory was mostly old, worthless items. Duan Ran, struggling to find suitable streamers, suddenly thought of Zhang Jiayun and decided to approach her. Qian Xixi advised him against it, stating that if she had no hope, no one else would either.

Chen Lang reiterated his offer for Zhang Jiayun to work as a streamer at his company, but Zhang Jiayun firmly refused, stating that as Qian Xixi's best friend, she would never go to Chen Lang’s company, even if it meant her death. Chen Lang was once again rebuffed. Qian Xixi and Su Su went to a market hoping to find the renowned market designer, Mr Five, a popular figure online.

At the market, Mr Five's friend, Mao, was selling goods when city enforcement arrived. Everyone scattered, riding their bikes away. Qian Xixi's car happened to be passing by, and Mao faked an accident, demanding two thousand yuan from her. Qian Xixi offered two hundred yuan to settle the matter, but Mao tried to refuse. Noticing Mr Five's distinctive logo on Mao's clothing, Qian Xixi mistakenly believed Mao was the famous designer.

Meanwhile, Zhang Jiayun was at a supermarket, taste-testing food, when she got into a squabble with an elderly woman over samples, accidentally pricking the woman's hand with a toothpick. The woman became enraged, verbally scolding Zhang Jiayun. Coincidentally, Duan Ran appeared, bought the taste-test products for the woman, and then invited Zhang Jiayun to dinner, praising her outstanding performance in a previous livestream. Qian Xixi and Su Su took Mao to the hospital.

Despite knowing he wasn't seriously injured, Mao attempted to extort more money from them, demanding ten thousand yuan for lost wages and compensation, which irritated Qian Xixi. As they were leaving, the real Mr Five arrived to visit Mao. Mr Five turned out to be a woman, and she immediately reprimanded Mao for trying to cheat Qian Xixi and Su Su. Qian Xixi and Su Su formally introduced themselves, and Mr Five invited them to her studio.

The studio showcased avant-garde clothing. Mr Five, a graduate of Beijing Institute of Fashion Technology, admitted she had resorted to street vending for financial reasons. She expressed her willingness to help, contingent on them finding a market for the modified clothes, which delighted Qian Xixi. Duan Ran understood that Zhang Jiayun had rejected Qian Xixi because Qian Xixi hadn't appealed to her true aspirations.

He had learned that Zhang Jiayun was secretly attending a cram school, preparing for postgraduate exams, revealing her ambitious and proactive nature beneath her calm exterior. Recognizing Zhang Jiayun's interest in business, Duan Ran offered to teach her business logic and even help her apply to Cambridge Business School, securing a recommendation letter from his own tutor.

He cited the example of how his advice helped Qian Xixi successfully secure a partnership with Mr Wu from Pineapple Xpress after numerous rejections, which captivated Zhang Jiayun. Impressed by Duan Ran's words, she agreed to collaborate with him. Zhang Jiayun's unexpected arrival at the company surprised Qian Xixi, who confronted her, asking if Duan Ran had bought her over. Zhang Jiayun simply smiled without explaining.

Qian Xixi then brought Mr Five in for livestream training and to help alter sample clothes in the evenings. Duan Ran, upon seeing their late-night work, jokingly accused Qian Xixi of extorting her workers' time. After Zhang Jiayun toured the company, Duan Ran dismissed Qian Xixi, suggesting she didn't need training and only needed to be notified once brand partnerships were finalized.

That night, finding Qian Xixi not at home, Duan Ran returned to the office, where Qian Xixi and Mr Five were busy modifying clothes, and brought them late-night snacks, including satay noodles. He again commented on them "wasting time." Duan Ran met with Uncle Mu to discuss online live sales for Perfect Blue, aiming to reshape the brand's image. He pointed out that Perfect Blue had stagnated due to suppression by Mr Wu (Wu Zhong Quan).

Hearing that online sales could salvage the brand's image, Uncle Mu agreed to cooperate with Duan Ran and asked him to draft a contract promptly. Later, Mao visited Mr Five, who was working late. Mr Five offered him a position as her operator, but Mao declined, explaining he preferred the freedom of street vending, which allowed him to care for his mother. Mr Five did not press the issue further.
