All the soldiers Mu Lihua borrowed had died. Though Chi Shanying was furious, there was little he could do—Mu Lihua had the Mu family behind her. Zhang Youwen had just called to say De Geng was gone. Shen Zhiheng’s gaze toward the snowy night grew lonelier. After arranging everything, Zhang Youwen delivered a letter from De Geng and pledged to follow in his grandfather’s footsteps, always protecting the Shen family. Shen Zhiheng was deeply moved.

He set up memorial tablets for his deceased loved ones. Mu Lihua found a family portrait in the Shen household and noticed an Aunt Wei in it. She suspected Aunt Wei had given Shen Zhiheng the blood amber stone and decided to create an incident to force him to reveal himself. On a quiet snowy night, many people were slaughtered. Shen Zhiheng decided to leave Haidong with Mi Lan and Situ Weilian, to live peacefully elsewhere.

But first, one matter needed to be resolved—Mu Lihua had lost all humanity. They had to eliminate this threat to Haidong. Situ Weilian told Shen Zhiheng about Li Yingliang’s plan and claimed it was for Shen Zhiheng’s sake—Li Yingliang could help them escape. Shen Zhiheng disagreed, saying Jin Jingxue loved Li Yingliang and emotions don’t change easily. He agreed in the end, but insisted on seeing Mu Lihua.

Situ Weilian chatted with Mi Lan, saying they should secretly eliminate both Mu Lihua and Chi Shanying. Shen Zhiheng caught them, and Mi Lan was punished with repetitive copying. Late at night, Mi Lan quietly left the house with the crow. The crow landed on the hood of Chi Shanying’s car. Annoyed, he got out to shoo it away but was swarmed by more crows. Suddenly, a bright red umbrella descended from the sky.

Alarmed, Chi Shanying fired several shots upward. Mi Lan was accidentally hit by a bullet and pulled a feather from the crow. When she returned home, Shen Zhiheng noticed her wound. The next day, Situ Weilian found Chi Shanying to deliver a message from Li Yingliang, asking him to visit. Surprisingly, Chi Shanying agreed. He suspected the three were conspiring against him and didn’t take it seriously. Mi Lan confessed to Shen Zhiheng that she went to scare Chi Shanying.

Since she couldn’t kill, scaring should be fine. Shen Zhiheng didn’t blame her and promised they would act together from now on. They began to look forward to the day they could listen to the rain together. Chi Shanying visited the Jin residence late at night. Though he no longer trusted Li Yingliang, he still listened to his plan. After Chi Shanying left, Li Yingliang felt hopeful about rising again.

He promised to repay Jin Jingxue with a fine dowry once he succeeded. Jin Jingxue was furious—she didn’t love Situ Weilian at all! In a frenzy, she pounced on Li Yingliang. Though he repeatedly rejected her, she bit him hard, and he finally gave in to his emotions. After the passion faded, Li Yingliang decided to leave the Jin residence the next day—he didn’t want to drag Jin Jingxue down with him.

The next morning, Jin Jingxue prepared dumplings for Li Yingliang, while she herself elegantly ate Western food across from him.
