Please Love Me Episode 12 Recap
> Please Love Me Recap
Yi Han and Pei Youyou went to the Civil Affairs Bureau to register their marriage. Despite Yi Han wearing sunglasses, they were quickly recognized by the public, who eagerly requested photos with him. The news of their marriage soon became a trending topic. Pei Youyou initially felt the marriage was surreal, even asking if the marriage certificate had anti-counterfeit marks. To make it feel more real, Yi Han presented her with a custom-made ring called "Dog's Tail."
He explained the name, drawing inspiration from a poem. Pei Youyou, feeling a touch of jealousy, then contrasted it with a necklace called "Mountain and Sea" that he had given to others, expressing concern about his past long-term affection for Kan Di, worried that his feelings for her might also change suddenly. Yi Han reassured her, emphasizing that their love was different and wouldn't be separated by anything.
As they arrived home, Kan Di was waiting, already aware of the trending topic. She confronted them, questioning why they registered their marriage without informing her. Yi Han explained that his primary goal wasn't just to solve a problem but that he genuinely wanted to marry Pei Youyou. He didn't want the proposal to be a calculated plan but an action taken out of love at the right moment.
Kan Di, however, was concerned about the potential repercussions, particularly if Sun Qingqing exposed their love contract. She warned that the public might perceive their marriage as a sham, like "The Boy Who Cried Wolf," making advertisers and the public highly sensitive. She stressed that a handwriting authentication would put them at a disadvantage. Kan Di concluded that they must retrieve the contract and urged them to remain silent and not create further problems in the interim.
Pei Youyou was restless, deeply concerned about Sun Qingqing's potential actions and the incessant media scrutiny, fearing that "the whole world will have changed" by morning. Yi Han, though accustomed to public scandals, admitted he was now worried because she was involved, fearing the harm this news explosion would cause her. He reassured her, teasingly asking if she truly loved him and reminding her that she was the wife of Yi Han, making her strong too.
Unable to sleep, Yi Han suggested they play a game to get to know each other better. He asked Pei Youyou about her past relationships, while she inquired about his financial status. When Pei Youyou denied having many ex-boyfriends, Yi Han playfully revealed a box of his old fan merchandise that she had collected from her school days, proving her long-standing admiration for him.
He declared that no matter how many boyfriends she may have had, he intended to be her last. Yi Han then handed over all his financial documents, including bank accounts, movie, album, and acting contracts, charity work, advertisements, and investments, asking her to calculate his total wealth. Pei Youyou, excited by the prospect, meticulously began counting the money.
She admitted she was still uncomfortable with the "husband and wife" designation, finding it "definite and serious," and said she needed time to adapt. She joked that she would have married him sooner if she had known about his substantial wealth, so engrossed in her calculations that she ignored a call from her brother, Lu Ming. Ran Zishu hosted a party and proudly introduced Lu Ming as her boyfriend.
One of her "best friends," Zhou Xintong, approached Ran Zishu, openly hinting for a limited edition Chanel purse for her upcoming "birthday" next month. Lu Ming became concerned about his sister, Pei Youyou, and Ran Zishu encouraged him to call her, though Pei Youyou was too engrossed in counting money to answer. Later, Zhou Xintong approached Lu Ming alone.
He confronted her, having deduced that her birthday was not actually next month and that she was merely fabricating it to get the expensive bag. Zhou Xintong, unfazed, cynically explained that Ran Zishu gives her valuable gifts, and in return, she offers a "wonderful friendship"—a mutually beneficial arrangement. Disgusted by this, Lu Ming, uncharacteristically angry, insisted that Ran Zishu send everyone home, claiming he was uncomfortable. Although startled by his intensity, Ran Zishu complied.
She later confessed to Lu Ming that she was well aware of Zhou Xintong's actual birthday, but had chosen to overlook her friend's opportunism, still considering her a best friend. She explained that Zhou Xintong's "birthday" often coincided with the release of new designer purses. Lu Ming was deeply touched by Ran Zishu's naive loyalty and consoled her, realizing her unique sincerity amidst superficial friendships.
Pei Youyou, still concerned about Yi Han's past devotion to Kan Di, asked how he could have loved Kan Di for so many years and then simply stopped, fearing she might become another "cautionary example." Yi Han dismissed her worries, then recorded a solemn video oath on his phone, promising to love Pei Youyou for his entire life, both in spirit and body, and to entrust all his earnings to her, aside from filial duties and contributions to public welfare.
He lightened the mood with a self-deprecating remark about the declaration sounding cheesy, but affirmed his sincerity. He then teasingly asked if Liu Tiannuo was one of her ten supposed ex-boyfriends, a suggestion Pei Youyou vehemently denied. Trouble compounded as Gao Lang leaked Yi Han and Pei Youyou's contract online, causing an immediate uproar and making them a trending topic.
Simultaneously, Zhou Xintong, likely in retaliation for being asked to leave the party, spread malicious rumors online about Ran Zishu, claiming she "plays around" and "has a cartload of boyfriends." Ran Zishu, who had initially considered announcing her relationship to divert public attention, found herself already on the trending topics and needing to address her own "mess." Kan Di informed Yi Han that the contract leak was creating serious issues with advertisers, potentially leading to contract terminations and compensation.
The most critical problem was that the producer of the film "Remaining Life" intended to replace Yi Han from his supporting role to "contain losses," a decision made easier by his minor part compared to Ran Zishu, the female lead, whose replacement would cause significant financial damage despite her own recent negative publicity.
Kan Di presented Yi Han with two solutions for the leaked contract: either publicly admit fault, terminate contracts, and pay compensation, or deny the contract's legitimacy and engage in a prolonged legal battle. Yi Han decisively chose the first option, stating his aversion to lying and his belief that an honest approach would lead to a smoother resolution. Kan Di acknowledged his understanding of the implications.
Privately, Pei Youyou later approached Kan Di, arguing that the second option seemed "safer" and less damaging. However, Kan Di revealed that Yi Han's choice was entirely to protect Pei Youyou. He opted for the "simplistic" and quickest resolution to shield her from becoming the "biggest victim" in a drawn-out online smear campaign. Kan Di explained that Yi Han, accustomed to slander with his team and fans for protection, feared for Pei Youyou, who lacked such a defense.
The following morning, Pei Youyou woke up, initially concerned she was late for work. Yi Han surprised her by revealing he had already called her manager to arrange a day off for her, teasing that since he was "jobless" they would rely on her income. He then served her a breakfast of personally ground soy milk and perfectly fried dough sticks, earning her compliments on his improved cooking. As they ate, they noticed an unusual amount of noise outside their house, leading them to suspect more trouble was brewing. Yi Han went to investigate.
