Yi Han arrived at the Lijun Hotel, room 1615, to meet Qingqing, aware that she was the one who stole his dating contract with Pei Youyou after seeing his home surveillance. Qingqing, waiting for him, brazenly offered herself to him, questioning how he could keep a "lowly woman like Pei Youyou" by his side, especially since their contractual relationship was fake, and suggesting he use her instead. Yi Han found her proposition disgusting and rejected her.
He warned her that he knew about her burglary and that his home surveillance footage was sufficient proof, and he also revealed he had already had someone hack the hotel's surveillance cameras, giving her no escape if he chose to involve the police concerning their encounter. Unbeknownst to Yi Han, Qingqing had already texted Pei Youyou, feigning an emergency with a client needing gel extensions and asking her to come to the hotel room to help.
When Pei Youyou arrived and found Yi Han physically restraining Qingqing on the bed, Qingqing immediately accused Yi Han of attempting to sexually harass her. Yi Han vehemently denied it, explaining to Pei Youyou that nothing happened and he had only restrained Qingqing as she was taking her clothes off. Pei Youyou believed Yi Han's explanation about the hotel situation.
He apologized for installing surveillance cameras in the house when she first moved in, calling it human nature, and promised to have them removed the next day. Pei Youyou, however, felt uneasy and suggested moving out. Yi Han then proposed a marriage of convenience to neutralize Sun Qingqing's threat of exposing their dating contract. He reasoned that if they were married, they could dismiss the leaked contract as mere rumors and lies.
Pei Youyou strongly opposed this, stating that covering one lie with more lies would only complicate matters further and make it impossible to truly resolve the situation. She also worried about Sun Qingqing's continued silence, describing it as a "time bomb." She suggested an alternative solution: announcing their breakup before Sun Qingqing could expose them, allowing them to return to their separate lives.
Yi Han tried to remind her of their kiss by the riverside, but Pei Youyou, feeling overwhelmed, shut him down, insisting it was "not normal" and that they should move on. She internally questioned the possibility of Yi Han liking her, believing they were from two different worlds and she shouldn't harbor unrealistic fantasies.
Director Liu Tiannuo noticed a significant aesthetic and color coordination improvement in a retaken scene, realizing it was due to a green Cézanne-inspired decoration Pei Youyou had crafted for Yi Han's costume. Impressed by her deep understanding of the script and characters, even more than his own, he called Pei Youyou to the set to offer her a paid position to help enhance the production design.
While Pei Youyou initially felt it was too formal to accept payment from Liu Tiannuo, Yi Han, who had been contemplating Pei Youyou's suggestion of "separate lives" and saw her with Liu Tiannuo, became visibly jealous. He interrupted their conversation, insisted Pei Youyou demand payment, and then angrily pulled her away.
He accused her of wanting to break up with him for Liu Tiannuo, pointing out her willingness to charge him for a glass of water, yet refusing money from Liu Tiannuo. Pei Youyou fired back, highlighting her long-standing friendship with Liu Tiannuo compared to their short acquaintance. When Yi Han asked if that meant Liu Tiannuo was more important, she affirmed he was "way more important."
Furious, Yi Han stormed back to the makeup room, declaring Pei Youyou was "the least bit important" to him, leaving Pei Youyou to call him a "psycho." Ran Zishu, noticing Yi Han's foul mood, correctly guessed he had argued with Pei Youyou. She offered to help him for Lu Ming's sake, which led to a discussion about "liking" someone without specific circumstances.
Yi Han, applying this to himself, then questioned how he could possibly like Pei Youyou, insisting he should like someone like Kan Di instead. Misinterpreting Yi Han's questions, Ran Zishu initially accused him of betraying Pei Youyou but then, seeing his confusion, suggested he list the good and bad qualities of both Pei Youyou and Kan Di to clarify his feelings.
Yi Han took her advice, meticulously listing Kan Di's numerous positive traits, while only noting Pei Youyou's "cooking skills" under good qualities, and "petty, loves money, greedy, sordid, lousy dresser" under bad qualities. Unable to find any bad qualities for Kan Di, he dismissed the exercise, affirming he liked Kan Di and that the previous night's kiss with Pei Youyou was an accident. He then called Kan Di to ask her out for dinner.
While on the phone, he became distracted and increasingly jealous by Pei Youyou's ongoing phone conversation with Liu Tiannuo, which was about meeting the next day. He told Kan Di they would meet at their usual place and, driven by his jealousy, abruptly ended the call. Immediately after, he overheard Pei Youyou specifically mentioning the "Home-Style Dishes" restaurant.
Yi Han impulsively changed his dinner reservation with Kan Di to the "Home-Style Dishes" restaurant where Pei Youyou and Liu Tiannuo were meeting, constantly searching for Pei Youyou during his meal with Kan Di. Kan Di quickly noticed his unusual behavior and asked what was wrong. Yi Han admitted that Sun Qingqing had stolen their dating contract and was attempting to blackmail him. He proposed marrying Pei Youyou as a strategic move to nullify any potential exposure.
However, he also revealed Pei Youyou's desire to break up beforehand. Kan Di directly confronted Yi Han, asking if he had fallen for Pei Youyou, which he quickly denied. She saw through his facade, noting his conflicted expression and stating that when one's heart is already set on someone, confessing to another is impossible. Realizing he was struggling to confess his feelings for her, Kan Di advised him to stop making it hard for himself.
She then declared that neither breaking up nor marrying Pei Youyou were reliable solutions, and she would take charge of handling the situation with Sun Qingqing. However, she firmly stated that his personal feelings were something he needed to resolve on his own. After Kan Di left, Yi Han immediately made a phone call, instructing someone named Dawei.
Separately, Sun Qingqing met with Gao Lang, giving him the dating contract and stating her desire not for money, but to see Yi Han and Pei Youyou in a "dead end," to which Gao Lang agreed. When Pei Youyou returned home that night, she found Yi Han waiting for her in the dark.
He revealed he had waited for her all night at the restaurant, explaining that his planned dinner with Kan Di, intended for a confession, was interrupted by his overwhelming thoughts of Pei Youyou after overhearing her call with Liu Tiannuo. He couldn't confess his love to Kan Di because Pei Youyou's face was the only thing on his mind. He then turned on the lights to reveal a room decorated with balloons and "Love You" signs.
In a heartfelt confession, Yi Han admitted that his feelings for Kan Di were merely "dependence and trust," akin to a child's attachment to his mother, and that he had realized his true love was for Pei Youyou. He expressed how meeting her transformed his perspective on the world, filling it with anticipation. Overwhelmed, Pei Youyou accepted his confession, though still in disbelief. Yi Han then sealed their new commitment with a kiss.
The following morning, Yi Han, full of enthusiasm, woke Pei Youyou and, despite her protests and desire to wear her own grey clothes, insisted she change into white to match him. He then surprised her by driving them directly to the Civil Affairs Bureau to get married. Pei Youyou tried to resist, arguing it was too sudden and they hadn't even brought their residence books.
However, Yi Han had already anticipated this, admitting he had taken her residence book from her cabinet while she was asleep. He playfully brushed off her objections, pushing for them to get married quickly as the registry was about to open.
