Please Love Me Recap
Episode 1 Recap
In the bustling city, the lives of celebrity Yi Han and nail technician Pei Youyou couldn't be more different. Yi Han, a popular star, was accustomed to having his assistant wake him, even needing Kandi to rouse him with an Iced Americano.
Meanwhile, Pei Youyou rushed to clock in at her nail salon, where her excellent performance and high number of VIP clients like Ran Zishu earned her praise from the shop leader, allowing her to request an advance on her commission for a personal matter.
Another nail technician, Qingqing, frequently wore heavy makeup for auditions, dreaming of the spotlight and starring opposite Yi Han in movies like "The rest of life," often mocking Pei Youyou for not spending her earnings on fashionable clothes. Yi Han's morning took a sharp turn when Kandi received a call informing them that the director for his upcoming film, "The rest of life," had decided to replace him, despite their signed contract.
Yi Han, furious and feeling insulted that he was being rejected instead of him rejecting others, decided to drive to the press conference to confront them. Kandi attempted to stop him but was intercepted by her husband, Zhu Wenyao, who insisted she join him for his mother's birthday celebration, scolding her for prioritizing work over family. Forced to leave with Zhu Wenyao, Kandi urgently instructed her assistants, Dawei and Haozi, to pursue Yi Han.
Pei Youyou, known for her strong artistic background and ability to create unique nail designs that other salons couldn't, was praised by customers and even encouraged new colleagues, explaining that nail art is a form of painting and an art to be proud of.
She was on her way to serve Ran Zishu, a VIP client, on her electric scooter, while simultaneously on a phone call finalizing details for purchasing her old family home, a dream she was striving for by saving every penny and taking advances. Suddenly, at the intersection of Jiang Xin Street and Xiao De Street, Yi Han’s speeding car collided with Pei Youyou’s electric scooter. Yi Han was knocked unconscious in the collision.
Kandi, however, had advised him over the phone to use the accident as an excuse to withdraw from "The rest of life" and control public opinion, telling him not to get out of the car. However, Pei Youyou, concerned he might suffocate, found a brick and smashed his car window, accidentally hitting Yi Han in the head. Realizing he was the famous actor Yi Han, she panicked and rushed him to the hospital.
In the hospital, Kandi paid Pei Youyou 20,000 yuan for the damages, but Pei Youyou insisted on only receiving her calculated compensation of 8,000 yuan, returning the extra 12,000 yuan. Although Yi Han remained grumpy, Kandi was impressed by Pei Youyou's honesty and exchanged business cards with her. While Kandi was handling the aftermath, her husband, Zhu Wenyao, texted her, demanding a divorce.
Yi Han, noticing Kandi’s distress and recalling how Kandi had supported him since he was eighteen, feared Zhu Wenyao was bullying her, and discreetly followed Kandi when she left the hospital. Yi Han found Kandi drinking alone at a bar and intervened when she was being harassed, then took her home, where she confessed her despair about the divorce. Photos of them together were leaked to the media, leading to a frenzy outside the hospital.
The next morning, Zhu Wenyao arrived at the hospital, publicly announced his divorce from Kandi, and insulted her, provoking Yi Han to punch him. Pei Youyou, who had come to the hospital to ask Kandi for help contacting Ran Zishu (whose cancelled card put Pei Youyou's job at risk), witnessed the chaotic scene.
She spontaneously stepped forward to defend Kandi and Yi Han, asserting that Yi Han had been in the hospital all night and showing reporters a photo she had taken of them while waiting for the ambulance. Capitalizing on the moment to protect Kandi's reputation, Yi Han declared Pei Youyou his girlfriend and announced their impending marriage.
Episode 2 Recap
Yi Han publicly announced his impending marriage to Pei Youyou. This unplanned announcement, made in response to Pei Youyou's unexpected intervention with reporters, put both him and his manager Kan Di in a difficult position, forcing them to manage a burgeoning public relations crisis. Caught off guard, Pei Youyou was visibly confused and attempted to decline, but Yi Han, aware of her initial purpose for seeking them out, promised to resolve her issue with Ran Zishu's canceled nail salon membership.
Inside the car, Kan Di chastised Yi Han for his impulsive announcement and for hitting a reporter. Yi Han defended his actions, stating the reporter deserved it, and insisted Kan Di shouldn't sacrifice her future for his business. Kan Di, however, was resolute, declaring she didn't want a future if she couldn't protect him. She then firmly stated that Yi Han's casual plan to announce a fake marriage and later a breakup was childish and unacceptable for his career.
She insisted that getting married for real was the only viable option. Yi Han, though annoyed, conceded to Kan Di's professional judgment. Pei Youyou, still in the car, nervously interjected, asking if she was the intended bride. Kan Di quickly reassured her it wouldn't be her, then accused Pei Youyou of having malicious intentions for secretly taking a photo of Yi Han at the hospital, implying it was for blackmail.
Pei Youyou vehemently denied this, swearing on her mother's name that it was taken purely as evidence and offered to delete it immediately. Kan Di then instructed Pei Youyou to list her conditions for marrying Yi Han. Yi Han, frustrated, questioned why Pei Youyou would need conditions. Kan Di silenced him and began outlining wedding preparations, including a limited guest list due to Yi Han's sensitive public persona.
Pei Youyou found the situation absurd, emphasizing they were strangers and he had no right to announce their marriage. Kan Di countered that the news was already viral, and Pei Youyou should have considered the consequences when she stepped in. Yi Han, seeing Pei Youyou's distress, reassured her they would face it together. Overwhelmed, Pei Youyou got out of the car. Yi Han followed her and asked about her real reason for visiting the hospital earlier.
Pei Youyou explained that due to the car accident, her appointment with client Ran Zishu was delayed, leading Ran Zishu to cancel all her orders and leave Pei Youyou responsible for the loss. She tentatively asked if Yi Han could explain the situation to Ran Zishu. Yi Han then offered to resolve the membership issue if Pei Youyou deleted the photos of him, which she promptly did in front of him.
Yi Han then strangely asked if she liked him, which she denied, reiterating the photos were for evidence. As Pei Youyou left, Yi Han muttered that the "marriage" was all for Kan Di's sake. Back home, Kan Di acknowledged Pei Youyou's integrity, finding her trustworthy despite the risky marriage strategy. She decided to proceed with wedding preparations while also formulating other strategies for potential corporate backlash.
Kan Di then recalled Yi Han once mentioning in an interview that he wanted a beach wedding. This prompted a flashback to Yi Han winning an award and expressing his desire to propose to the girl he liked and have a beach wedding. Later, in a bridal salon, Yi Han was seen preparing to propose to Kan Di with a specially designed wedding dress, but the appearance of Zhu Wenyao behind her prevented him from confessing his feelings.
Back in the present, Yi Han dismissed the beach wedding idea, stating it was just a casual comment and any location would do since it wasn't a real marriage. Kan Di insisted on proper preparation to avoid suspicion. She took a call from CEO Zhao of Kai Xing, who threatened to replace Yi Han as spokesperson due to the negative press. Kan Di argued that Yi Han's marriage would benefit the brand, offering to meet face-to-face.
Yi Han warned her against meeting CEO Zhao, citing his inappropriate behavior. Kan Di dismissed his concerns, reminding him of her resourcefulness. She then received a text from CEO Zhao suggesting a meeting at a hotel room. Kan Di, understanding the predatory implication, declared she wouldn't go.
She then offered to sell her house and car to cover Yi Han's potential contract breach penalty, only to remember that her house still had Zhu Wenyao's name, complicating matters, especially after he had recently proposed divorce. Yi Han, determined to solve his own problems, declared he would go find Pei Youyou, ignoring Kan Di's protests. At the nail salon, Pei Youyou's colleagues were abuzz with news of Yi Han's engagement, some noting the fiancée resembled Pei Youyou.
Pei Youyou, uncomfortable, feigned being full and left. Later, her friend asked her directly if she would marry Yi Han, to which Pei Youyou expressed discomfort marrying a stranger. Her friend, however, argued that as a fan, she felt close enough to him. The nail salon manager later informed Pei Youyou that a new client had purchased a large number of membership cards, specifically requesting her services.
Pei Youyou's smile quickly faded when she saw the name "Mr. Yi" on the orders and the balance deficit she was responsible for had been covered, realizing Yi Han had purchased the cards himself rather than directly intervening with Ran Zishu. Overwhelmed, Pei Youyou asked to leave work early for an important matter.
This urgent matter was her ongoing struggle to buy back her childhood home, which she had lived in with her mother before her mother left and her father sold it. She had saved money for years to repurchase it in case her mother returned, but a new buyer had suddenly offered hundreds of thousands more, and the owner, Aunt Wang, demanded an additional 100,000 yuan from Pei Youyou by the next day, putting her in severe financial distress.
Meanwhile, a persistent reporter named Gao Lang, who had been following the story, first confronted Pei Youyou outside the salon, sarcastically addressing her as "Miss Fiancée" and reminding her of her public defense of Yi Han, which Pei Youyou denied. He had earlier visited his comatose sister in the hospital, angrily pulling out a music player when he found a nurse playing Yi Han's songs, despite the nurse's explanation that it helped stabilize his sister's heart rate.
Gao Lang blamed Yi Han for his sister's condition and was determined to expose what he believed was Yi Han's deceit. Gao Lang later followed Pei Youyou into the salon and formally requested an interview, intending to expose her and Yi Han's fabricated lie. As Gao Lang questioned her about her relationship with Yi Han, Pei Youyou fumbled with details like his shoe size, favorite color, and favorite animal, making it clear she knew very little about him.
Gao Lang accused her of being bribed and demanded to know the truth. Pei Youyou, frustrated, pushed past him. Her colleague, Qingqing, watched on with envy and jealousy, clutching her fists, wishing the scene was happening to her instead of the ordinary Pei Youyou. Just then, Yi Han arrived, pulling Pei Youyou away from Gao Lang.
In front of everyone, Yi Han declared, "Starting from today, I wear a size 43 for shoes, my favorite animal is Garfield, my favorite color is red. The woman I like the most. . . is Pei Youyou." He told Gao Lang to direct all future questions to him and to stop bullying women. Gao Lang retorted that a lie would eventually be exposed. As Yi Han prepared to leave with Pei Youyou, she asked why he had suddenly come.
Realizing he was the "Mr. Yi" who bought the membership cards, she awkwardly offered him a free hand care service. Yi Han stopped, looking at her intently. He reaffirmed that everything he had said was serious and true, promising to adopt all her preferences and be whatever she needed him to be. He then sincerely asked, "Pei Youyou, marry me."
Episode 3 Recap
Yi Han seriously discussed marriage with Pei Youyou, promising to treat her well even if they didn't fulfill marital obligations. Pei Youyou, however, received an urgent message from Auntie Wang, reminding her that she had only a few hours left to pay for the house. Pei Youyou, preoccupied with this, asked Yi Han to drive her to Auntie Wang’s old house.
Yi Han felt frustrated that Pei Youyou was treating his proposal so lightly and merely saw him as a driver, especially when so many people yearned to meet him. Upon arriving at Auntie Wang's, Pei Youyou could only offer ¥30,000 and requested an extension for the remaining amount, even offering an IOU. Auntie Wang deemed it inappropriate to delay.
Disheartened, Pei Youyou returned to Yi Han's car and agreed to marry him, demanding a ¥100,000 betrothal gift, which she insisted she needed immediately and considered a loan she would repay after their divorce. Yi Han, upon learning she needed the money to buy a house, exited the car to negotiate with Auntie Wang himself. Shortly after, he returned with the house contract, informing Pei Youyou he had purchased the house.
Pei Youyou was furious to discover he had paid ¥1,280,000 for a house she could have bought for ¥1,000,000. She accused him of negotiating the price upward like an idiot. Yi Han clarified that Auntie Wang had mentioned another buyer offered ¥1,200,000, so he paid more to secure the deal, attributing his success to his charm. He offered to waive the extra ¥280,000, but Pei Youyou retorted that it was his "intelligence lesson fee" and she wouldn't be interested.
Auntie Wang, delighted, took a photo with Yi Han and posted it on social media, publicly confirming their relationship. Yi Han noted that this post was more effective than any press release, solidifying their status without needing to rush a real marriage. He then outlined the terms of their one-year contract relationship to Pei Youyou.
She was to cooperate with him on all media-related matters, go out with him once or twice a month with all expenses covered by him, and refrain from any actions that could damage his image, especially intimate interactions with other men. Pei Youyou found these terms acceptable, even easy. Unexpectedly, they both blurted out an additional, identical condition: that neither of them should ever fall in love with the other.
With Han Di's help, Yi Han and Pei Youyou finalized their fake dating agreement. Han Di added a crucial term: they must live together. Yi Han initially refused, stating his dislike for strangers in his home. Han Di countered that living together was essential to convince the public of their genuine relationship, especially with paparazzi surveillance around Yi Han's apartment and Pei Youyou’s nail salon. Pei Youyou, viewing it as simple room-sharing, had no objections.
Faced with Pei Youyou's alternative of an eight-year debt repayment plan, Yi Han reluctantly agreed to the living arrangement. Han Di then presented them with a fabricated romantic backstory, created by herself, Dawei, and Haozi, detailing how Pei Youyou supported Yi Han through his hardest times, which led to his love for her. She instructed them to memorize it for future media interviews and announced an unofficial engagement party by the seaside in three days.
The news of Yi Han and Pei Youyou buying a house together quickly spread, reaching the Inspire Nail Art salon. Qingqing was overcome with jealousy, questioning Yi Han's judgment in choosing Pei Youyou, whom she derisively called a "money slave." Meanwhile, Gao Lang approached Qingqing, observing her resentment, and offered her money, subtly encouraging her to help him expose Yi Han and Pei Youyou. Separately, Ran Zishu saw the news about Yi Han and Pei Youyou.
Annoyed that Pei Youyou had stood her up, Ran Zishu assumed it was due to her newfound connection with Yi Han. She then pressed her assistant to find the handsome man she had previously encountered, declaring him her first "love at first sight." Her assistant, accustomed to Ran Zishu's frequent claims of first love, simply agreed to her demands.
The news about Yi Han and Pei Youyou also caught the attention of Liu Tiannuo, the director who had replaced Yi Han, and the handsome overseas returnee whom Ran Zishu was so keen on finding. Following their public engagement announcement, Pei Youyou received a multitude of high-end gifts from Yi Han's friends. Being financially prudent, she had no intention of using them herself.
Instead, she planned to sell them to her colleagues at discounted prices, constantly strategizing ways to earn money to repay Yi Han and save for her house. The Inspire Nail Art salon manager and her colleagues skillfully crafted a heartwarming tale for the persistent reporters, depicting Pei Youyou's unwavering support for Yi Han during his early, struggling days.
This elaborate story successfully satisfied the reporters and sent them away, leaving Pei Youyou marveling at her colleagues' imagination but unable to reveal the truth. Out of caution, Yi Han instructed his assistant to install 360-degree surveillance cameras in all communal areas of his house, ensuring no blind spots. He also deliberately messed up the room prepared for Pei Youyou, intending to make her living arrangements difficult. His assistant began to clean it, but Yi Han swiftly stopped him.
Concurrently, Pei Youyou spoke with her current landlady, Auntie Wu, about terminating her lease. Auntie Wu, drawing from her own experience, advised against canceling the lease too hastily, suggesting Pei Youyou might need a place to return to if her relationship with Yi Han faced difficulties. Pei Youyou reassured her that she had bought a new house and believed in her strong relationship with Yi Han.
To secure the return of her deposit and remaining rent, Pei Youyou offered Auntie Wu an autographed photo of Yi Han for her granddaughter. Shortly after, Pei Youyou received a call from the wedding dress shop owner, who invited her to try on a wedding dress, under the mistaken impression that it was prepared specifically for her and Yi Han's wedding. Pei Youyou tried on the wedding dress, observing that she strongly resembled her mother in it.
The sales assistant noted the dress was custom-made and had been stored for two years, suggesting it was for Pei Youyou and Yi Han's wedding. Pei Youyou, however, understood that a dress prepared two years prior was likely for someone else Yi Han had loved. She attempted to change out of it, but the sales assistant pleaded with her to show it to the boss to avoid losing her monthly bonus. Out of kindness, Pei Youyou reluctantly complied.
When Yi Han arrived and saw Pei Youyou in the dress, he became enraged. He furiously demanded she take it off, even threatening to remove it himself, and sternly warned Xiao Lan not to meddle in his affairs. Yi Han took the wedding dress from the shop. Later, after Pei Youyou had moved into his home as scheduled, Han Di was discussing a contract with Yi Han, during which he accidentally saw a divorce agreement.
Yi Han immediately confessed his feelings to Han Di, but she rejected him, stating that he was merely a product she created for profit. Enraged, Yi Han stormed out of the house and threw the wedding dress into a river. Pei Youyou, who had witnessed the painful exchange, apologized to Han Di for appearing at such an inopportune moment.
Han Di, however, calmly reassured Pei Youyou that Yi Han would not go far and would surely return by 8:00 AM the next morning. The next morning, Yi Han returned home to find his room meticulously cleaned. He immediately confronted Pei Youyou, scolding her for touching his belongings. Later, he reviewed the surveillance footage, watching a small Pei Youyou diligently cleaning and organizing his messy room alone.
He then opened WeChat, briefly pausing over Han Di's contact, seemingly contemplating deleting it, but ultimately hesitated. Soon after, Pei Youyou's cooking noises woke Yi Han again. He ordered her to stop cooking due to the noise and offered to order takeout instead, which Pei Youyou happily accepted, knowing he would pay.
Episode 4 Recap
Pei Youyou and Yi Han continued to clash in their shared living space, meticulously drawing "boundary lines" to divide areas. Yi Han laid down strict rules, preventing Pei Youyou from entering his private room, the living room, kitchen, or bathroom without permission, and adamantly warning her not to touch his action figures. Pei Youyou agreed to respect his belongings but insisted on maintaining hygiene in shared areas, suggesting they live like strangers, ideally not seeing each other at all.
They even divided the communal refrigerator shelves, with Yi Han claiming the top four and Pei Youyou the bottom two. Observing Yi Han's many possessions, Pei Youyou comically offered to sell him a refrigerator shelf. When discussing the stove, Yi Han set a cooking time limit from noon to 10 PM, telling Pei Youyou she would "stay hungry" if she wanted a midnight snack after that. The next day, Kan Di had arranged their engagement ceremony by the sea.
However, Yi Han, still upset from a previous argument where Kan Di called him a "tool," refused to attend, stating he was "nothing" to her anyway. Pei Youyou, left to manage the situation alone, felt embarrassed and confused about what to tell the many guests. Kan Di, seeing no other option, accessed Yi Han's Weibo account and posted a message from him declaring that he and Pei Youyou had "eloped!"
After the chaotic ceremony, Pei Youyou changed out of her dress. While she was getting ready, Lin Tian'nuo, a childhood friend she hadn't seen in years, approached her and offered her a milk candy, a treat he used to give her as a child. Lin Tian'nuo explained that he had only found her after seeing the news about her and Yi Han.
Pei Youyou recounted how she lost contact with him after her father remarried; her stepmother disliked their old house's location and convinced her father to sell it and move. Lin Tian'nuo remembered Pei Youyou's childhood passion for art and wondered why she hadn't pursued it. Pei Youyou sadly revealed she was accepted into art school but her stepmother refused to pay tuition, leading her to leave home in anger and never return.
Faced with financial pressure, she eventually became a nail artist, using her artistic foundation. Lin Tian'nuo sensed that her relationship with Yi Han wasn't genuine, but Pei Youyou insisted it was real, claiming Yi Han was just childish but cared for her deep down. As Lin Tian'nuo dropped her off at home, he quietly kept the star-folded candy wrapper she had just eaten, placing it in a childhood tin box.
Upon returning home, Pei Youyou confronted Yi Han, who was casually watching TV, for his childish behavior at the engagement. She angrily demanded "compensation for moral damages," specifically half a year of her debt to him. As they argued, the doorbell rang. Pei Youyou opened the door to a young man who immediately hugged her, exclaiming, "Sister! I've finally found you!"
Yi Han tried to pull him away, suspicious of this sudden appearance, but the young man introduced himself as Lu Ming, Pei Youyou's biological half-brother. He presented a picture of their mother as proof. Pei Youyou was stunned, realizing it was the same picture her mother had always kept. Lu Ming explained their mother had moved to Prague in 1998, married his father, and had him. He had known nothing of her life in China.
He then delivered the devastating news that their parents had died in a car accident six months prior, on their 20th wedding anniversary. He had discovered Pei Youyou while going through their mother's belongings. Lu Ming added that he had tracked Pei Youyou down using an address on the photo, then by contacting the old house's previous owner (Wang Auntie), and finally by searching for Yi Han online, who was very popular in China.
Lu Ming, still a student, planned to finish his studies in Prague after the summer but hoped to live with Pei Youyou permanently once he graduated. With no money, he initially asked if he could stay at Pei Youyou's old house, but Yi Han quickly pointed out it was uninhabitable, lacking furniture and still undergoing ownership transfer.
Despite Yi Han's strong objections to having "a second stranger" in his house, Pei Youyou insisted that kicking Lu Ming out would make him suspicious of their fake relationship, leading to more complications. Yi Han reluctantly offered to pay for a hotel, but Pei Youyou explained the high cost for two months.
Lu Ming, speaking a foreign language on the phone, expressed his happiness at finding his sister, noting her resemblance to their mother and the strong family bond he felt. Pei Youyou asked Yi Han to translate Lu Ming's words, and after hearing them, she decided to let Lu Ming stay with them for a month.
Yi Han, seeing her determination, negotiated a monthly rent of 6,000 yuan from her, which Pei Youyou eventually agreed to, though she later realized she had been tricked. Lu Ming also found several unopened letters addressed to Pei Youyou among their mother's belongings, but Pei Youyou hesitated to read them. Later, while eating dinner, Lu Ming continued to call Yi Han "Brother-in-Law," much to Yi Han's annoyance, who was on a diet for a film.
Yi Han tried to enforce a strict "no talking during meals or sleep" rule, but Lu Ming, trying to learn Chinese customs, mistakenly believed that slurping noodles was a sign of respect in Asia. Yi Han corrected him, explaining Chinese etiquette was different. That night, Lu Ming saw Yi Han looking through the trash and, concerned, asked Pei Youyou if Yi Han had strange behaviors.
Pei Youyou quickly covered for him, claiming Yi Han was helping her look for a lost earring. Moments later, Yi Han found his "Remaining Life" script, which his assistant Haozi had brought earlier and Pei Youyou had tidied away. He immediately scolded Pei Youyou for touching his things. Lu Ming, hearing the commotion, asked if they were fighting, but Pei Youyou again covered, saying Yi Han was just intensely rehearsing his script.
To maintain the pretense of their relationship for Lu Ming, Pei Youyou insisted on sleeping in Yi Han's room. Yi Han strongly resisted, accusing her of wanting to "have" him, but eventually relented, although he continued to bicker with her over the bed.
As Yi Han tried to read his script with the lights on, Pei Youyou offered her surprisingly insightful interpretation of his character, Shen Bing, calling it "layered" and potentially award-winning, which irritated Yi Han, who told her to go to sleep. That night, Pei Youyou had a vivid dream of her mother leaving her, crying and begging her not to go. Yi Han tried to wake her, but in her distress, she embraced him tightly.
Surprised by her vulnerability, Yi Han gently held her, reassuring her, "I'm your mom. I won't go! I won't leave!" and comforted her back to sleep. The next morning, Pei Youyou woke up to find herself still in Yi Han's arms under the same blanket. She screamed in shock and quickly pulled away. Yi Han, still groggy, simply commented, "So you really have no standards when you are hungry, do you?"
Episode 5 Recap
Pei Youyou woke up to find herself in bed with Yi Han and cried out. Lu Ming, who was waiting outside, heard the commotion and asked if his sister was okay. Pei Youyou, wearing Yi Han's clothes, confirmed she was fine. Yi Han quickly explained that Pei Youyou has a "waking-up temper" and playfully added that she bullies him this way every morning, yet he still finds her adorable.
He then suggested Lu Ming stay a few more days, though Lu Ming still felt that his sister and brother-in-law were acting strangely. Later, at the table read for the film "Remaining Life", Yi Han arrived with twenty seconds to spare, just before the session began. He was to play the second male lead, Shen Bing.
The actor playing the main lead subtly mocked Yi Han's lateness, recalling how Yi Han was already a lead when he was just a sidekick during their first film together. Yi Han retorted that his co-star's current lead role was due to the director's good judgment.
When Director Liu Tiannuo expressed surprise at Yi Han's presence, as he wasn't playing the main lead, Yi Han explained his choice was to play Shen Bing, whose layered character—a lonely orphan with a complex mix of love and hate, saved by the female lead—appealed to him more than the straightforward main role.
Director Liu Tiannuo was amazed, noting that Yi Han's interpretation of Shen Bing was identical to what he had written in his Directorial Concept, though Yi Han had actually presented Pei Youyou's interpretation of the role as his own. After the read, Kan Di approached Yi Han with a DC Comics Variant Play Arts figure, an item he had long sought, as an apology for her previous harsh words.
She explained the effort she went through to get it from Tokyo, even autographed. Yi Han accepted the gift, forgiving her after she swore her earlier remarks were made in panic and not truly meant. They reconciled, and Yi Han offered her a lift. Meanwhile, Pei Youyou returned to the nail salon after taking two days off for house transfer and engagement matters.
Her manager announced her promotion to Creative Director, responsible for the design and development of new nail styles. Pei Youyou, known for her diligence and creativity, especially her unique Chinese-style nail art, was thrilled by the promotion, which also came with a 50% salary increase, double bonus, and funds for new style development. Everyone was happy for her, except for the jealous Qingqing. Back home, Yi Han joined Pei Youyou and Lu Ming for dinner.
Lu Ming, admiring Kan Di, expressed concern to Pei Youyou about Yi Han working with someone so beautiful. He then insisted Pei Youyou change her casual attire, pushing her into Yi Han’s room, unaware she had no clothes of her own there. Pei Youyou emerged wearing Yi Han’s ill-fitting clothes, which disappointed Lu Ming. Kan Di, noticing that Pei Youyou and Yi Han's engagement lacked official photos, suggested they appear on the cover of "The Most Beautiful Bride" magazine.
Pei Youyou was excited, and Lu Ming wanted to join for family photos. Despite Yi Han's initial reluctance, thinking Kan Di's apology was a ploy to get him to agree, Kan Di went ahead and confirmed the shoot. Pei Youyou also took the opportunity to ask Kan Di for help finding a summer job for Lu Ming, which Kan Di readily agreed to.
During the photoshoot, Yi Han initially tried to leave after his solo portraits, suggesting they could combine photos in post-production. Kan Di persuaded him to stay, pointing out that leaving would fuel rumors of them being a fake couple. When Pei Youyou arrived, elegantly dressed, Yi Han was visibly affected. The photographer guided them through various poses, asking for more intimacy and even suggesting a kiss to convey their deep love.
Despite Pei Youyou's initial hesitation, they ultimately managed a successful shot. The "Most Beautiful Bride" magazine featuring Pei Youyou and Yi Han became a huge success, with Pei Youyou often finding it comical recalling the moment she accidentally tugged Yi Han's tie during the shoot, and her feelings for the seemingly cold Yi Han gradually grew warmer. At Pei Youyou's nail salon, customers eagerly sought her out, though many didn't recognize her in person from the magazine.
Director Liu Tiannuo called Pei Youyou (on the phone), asking for a favor. His assistant had left, and he needed an English-speaking assistant for the ongoing international collaboration. He suggested Lu Ming, having heard from Kan Di about his recent return from overseas and job search. Pei Youyou was thrilled, agreeing to bring Lu Ming to meet him. Director Liu Tiannuo's assistant, however, teased him, implying his eagerness to help was due to his affection for Pei Youyou.
Pei Youyou later called Director Liu Tiannuo again (on the phone) to confirm Yi Han wouldn't be at the set, showing her desire to avoid him. Meanwhile, Ran Zishu's manager reminded her about an upcoming kiss scene with Yi Han, offering to arrange a cheat shot if she was uncomfortable. Ran Zishu dismissed the idea, claiming she was a professional and unaffected, even forgetting she had once confessed her feelings to Yi Han, a memory vividly shown in a flashback.
Moments later, Ran Zishu spotted Lu Ming on the street, dropping her high heels to chase him for a copy of "The Most Beautiful Bride" magazine he had just bought, but she couldn't catch him. Elsewhere, Pei Youyou's nail salon manager, having boasted about her connection to Yi Han, pressured Pei Youyou to arrange a dinner meeting with Yi Han and the company's CEO, unwilling to take no for an answer despite Pei Youyou's concerns about Yi Han's busy schedule.
Pei Youyou and Lu Ming arrived at the film set to meet Director Liu Tiannuo. Pei Youyou tried to avoid Yi Han, but upon hearing from his makeup artist Xiao Wen that his "fiancée" had visited, Yi Han called Pei Youyou, but she didn't answer. Pei Youyou, while heading to Director Liu Tiannuo's office, received a message from her nail salon manager insisting she come to the film studio's dressing room.
She was then intercepted by Ran Zishu, who was complaining about her broken toenail. Pei Youyou sincerely apologized for a previous incident. However, when reporters approached, Ran Zishu, still holding a grudge and trying to assert dominance, declared that Pei Youyou couldn't give an interview because she had promised to fix her broken toenail as a sign of sincerity. This left everyone present awkward.
Soon after, Yi Han arrived, having grown impatient waiting for Pei Youyou, and without hesitation, took her away, despite her reminder that she had promised Ran Zishu to fix her nail.
Episode 6 Recap
Yi Han quickly led Pei Youyou away, while Ran Zishu's assistant covered Ran Zishu's mouth and pulled her along. Yi Han chastised Pei Youyou, asking if she couldn't tell Ran Zishu was bullying her and to consider his public image. Pei Youyou admitted Ran Zishu was indeed bullying her, but she felt she was partly to blame for standing Ran Zishu up earlier, adding that doing nail repair was her profession and she didn't feel humiliated by it.
Yi Han disagreed, stating he didn't feel good about the situation and questioned if Pei Youyou thought he felt bad for her or if his conscience was bothering him. He then emphasized that Pei Youyou should consider his public image and hurry to her interview. Pei Youyou calmly replied that she would handle her own matters. Meanwhile, Ran Zishu's assistant warned her that Yi Han was acting like he would "devour somebody," attributing his irrational behavior to love.
The assistant stressed that Pei Youyou, despite still being a nail artist, was now "different" and should not be provoked. Just then, Ran Zishu spotted Lu Ming, who was at the location for an audition. Ran Zishu's heart fluttered as she was about to approach Lu Ming, but her excitement quickly turned to shock when he called out "Sister Youyou," revealing Pei Youyou was his sister.
Pei Youyou, upon seeing Ran Zishu, apologized for the delay caused by Yi Han and offered to get her nail repair kit, but Ran Zishu stated it was no longer necessary as she had already asked someone else. Pei Youyou then offered a free manicure the next day as a gesture for her mistake. Lu Ming initially didn't recognize Ran Zishu, but after she reminded him, he recalled her as the person whose passport he found at the hotel.
Ran Zishu then claimed to be best friends with Pei Youyou, who was momentarily surprised but quickly agreed when Ran Zishu discreetly mentioned purchasing forty membership cards. With the situation smoothed over, Lu Ming excused himself. After Pei Youyou and Lu Ming left, Ran Zishu immediately expressed her dismay to her assistant, realizing she had just mistreated her "future husband's sister," Lu Ming's sister.
She worried about future retaliation, fearing she would be subjected to endless chores like sweeping, doing laundry, and washing dishes. Her assistant, accustomed to Ran Zishu's dramatic pronouncements of love, was utterly speechless. Back at the nail salon, Pei Youyou was elated about securing forty membership cards from Ran Zishu, but her manager quickly reminded her of the critical task she had forgotten: inviting Yi Han to dinner.
The manager declared that if Pei Youyou failed to bring Yi Han to dinner by next Friday, she would not receive the commission for Ran Zishu's membership cards, emphasizing that her word was law. Throughout the day, Yi Han's stomach grumbled from hunger, yet he abruptly dismissed his driver. He was preoccupied with worries about Kan Di, who hadn't responded to his calls or messages, especially regarding Lu Ming's part-time work with Liu Tian'nuo.
His assistant's speculation about Kan Di preparing for a divorce and potentially dating further agitated him. Despite claiming not to be hungry, a tempting aroma greeted Yi Han as he entered his home. Pei Youyou, who was cooking, cheerfully urged him to wash his hands for dinner. She explained she had secured a job for Lu Ming on set and was cooking to thank Yi Han for his help.
Yi Han, however, suspected she was using his name to gain favors from Liu Tian'nuo and warned her against it, but Pei Youyou simply told him to wash his hands for dinner. Yi Han, intrigued by her sudden hospitality, wondered what she was up to. After dinner, during which Yi Han initially questioned if the food was poisoned but ultimately enjoyed it, Pei Youyou pressed him about attending dinner with her colleagues.
He resisted, accusing her of setting a trap, but Pei Youyou eventually coerced him by threatening to announce their breakup on Weibo. Yi Han reluctantly agreed, stating his intention to only make a brief appearance to fulfill their contract, then leave. At the restaurant, Pei Youyou introduced him to her manager and colleagues.
Despite his initial reluctance, Yi Han was persuaded to drink and then, pressured by her manager, agreed to become their nail salon's spokesperson and also to marry Pei Youyou. When Pei Youyou tried to leave, reminding him of his filming schedule, the manager insisted on going to karaoke. As everyone moved to the karaoke bar, Liu Tian'nuo called Pei Youyou, intending to bring her a photo album he bought, remembering her hobby.
Yi Han, noticing Pei Youyou's absence, worried his "wife" was lost and went to search for her, only to encounter Liu Tian'nuo at the entrance and pull him into the karaoke room to drink with them. Ran Zishu's assistant tried to arrange dinner with Lu Ming as a thank-you for finding her passport, but Lu Ming politely declined, stating he was content with his accommodation on set and happy to work with everyone there.
Determined, Ran Zishu moved into the same hotel. While searching for Lu Ming in the makeup room, she overheard crew members criticizing her acting skills, personal qualities, and past scandals, even blaming her for their makeup issues and costume mistakes due to her thick waist.
Lu Ming found her, and after he tried to smooth things over, Ran Zishu tearfully defended herself, recounting how she had given the makeup artist her own high-quality products after a bad reaction and diligently exercised and dieted to lose weight, running five kilometers daily and eating green vegetables for two weeks straight. She expressed her desire to be a good actress, relying only on herself.
Seeing her distress, Lu Ming comforted her and agreed to escort her to her room, 1817, revealing they were staying in the same hotel. Meanwhile, at the Karaoke, everyone engaged in a game to sober up, with Yi Han and Liu Tian'nuo displaying surprising synergy and winning multiple rounds.
Observing their natural rapport, Qingqing remarked to a colleague about the "good chemistry" between Yi Han and Liu Tian'nuo, contrasting it with the perceived lack of chemistry between Yi Han and Pei Youyou, who had been together for a long time. Pei Youyou managed to get the inebriated Yi Han back home.
As they sat looking at the stars, Yi Han, in his drunken state, began to lament about Kan Di, pleading for her not to leave and questioning why she didn't like him despite his perseverance. He expressed his confusion and pain over not being able to reach her for days, worrying she had moved on or was with someone else.
Pei Youyou comforted him by reiterating his own advice: if something feels right, keep persevering, and good results will follow; if it's not enough, it means it's not over yet, so keep persevering. When he doubted his ability to persevere, Pei Youyou shared her own difficult past, recalling her parents' divorce at age six, the loss of her grandmother soon after, and how her father forgot her birthdays after her stepmother joined the family.
She concluded by saying that despite these hardships, she grew up well and encouraged him to endure, watching over him as he finally fell asleep. The following morning, after remembering Pei Youyou's comforting words, Yi Han woke up. Pei Youyou, having already prepared kiwi juice for him, playfully teased him about his poor alcohol tolerance and how his drunken confessions made it "easier for her to earn money" from "hush money" for his secrets.
Yi Han, upon realizing he had confessed his feelings for Kan Di, asked how much money she wanted. Pei Youyou stated his total debt was ¥797,991. 04. Yi Han promptly transferred a large sum, forgiving most of her debt and leaving her with a remaining balance of just over ¥90,000.
Surprised by the generosity, Pei Youyou then offered her services to help him pursue Kan Di, to which Yi Han, after a moment of consideration, opened his bedroom door and asked how to do it.
Episode 7 Recap
Pei Youyou helped Yi Han analyze the underlying issues in his relationship with Kan Di. She pointed out that their dynamic was unbalanced, with Yi Han harboring romantic feelings while Kan Di saw him as more of a child, never a suitable man for romance.
Pei Youyou illustrated this with an example from when she first moved in, recalling how Yi Han had dramatically left home after an argument, only for Kan Di to confidently predict his return by morning and console him with toys, a gesture Pei Youyou equated to motherly comfort. She advised Yi Han to alter his interactions with Kan Di, emphasizing the need for him to become a man she couldn't control.
Later, Kan Di visited Yi Han on set, revealing she had been preoccupied with her divorce, handling certification, property division, and moving arrangements. She mentioned that post-divorce, she had many admirers, even considering a 27-year-old junior from a research institute. Yi Han was angered by this, questioning why she wouldn't consider him now that she was single. Kan Di firmly stated that she did not like him, adding, "No matter how you change, I still won't like you."
She clarified that she valued him as an important family member and the closest person to her in the city. Kan Di also spoke about her professional approach, which involved making the best use of all resources within her control, implying this extended to Yi Han and even Pei Youyou's connections. Distraught by Kan Di's words, Yi Han immediately called Pei Youyou for help.
Pei Youyou, speaking to him over the phone, urged him to control his anger, explaining that only children throw tantrums, while adults manage their emotions. A colleague nearby saw Pei Youyou smiling as she received a photo from her "boyfriend," remarking on the good relationship between Pei Youyou and Yi Han. Qingqing, witnessing their interaction, showed visible jealousy. Pei Youyou instructed Yi Han to break free from his usual pattern of emotional outbursts.
Yi Han subsequently managed his temper on set, surprising his colleagues. When Kan Di sent him a limited edition action figure assembly kit, Yi Han refused it, telling his assistant to return it and firmly declaring that he was not a child. Pei Youyou applauded his progress, noting that his unexpected change in behavior would undoubtedly make Kan Di question him, an early sign that she might develop feelings for him.
Pei Youyou then outlined the next phase: Yi Han needed to shed his image as an immature, petulant, and egotistical person. She suggested he prepare a "breakfast full of love" for Kan Di, believing it would touch her. Yi Han spent an entire night attempting to cook but produced an inedible meal. He then offered to pay Pei Youyou to prepare the breakfast daily, emphasizing his desire to appear dependable rather than manipulative.
The following morning, Yi Han presented the breakfast prepared by Pei Youyou to Kan Di. Kan Di found it quite good and noted that Yi Han seemed "quite different these few days," which pleased him. She also praised his recent performance, mentioning Director Lin had lauded his "chemistry" during filming. Yi Han was amused, recalling a drunken night out with Director Lin where they demonstrated surprising camaraderie.
Yi Han believed this approach was effective, so he continued to hire Pei Youyou to make breakfast for Kan Di daily. Pei Youyou woke up that morning to a birthday message from a real estate company, self-deprecatingly noting she often forgot her own birthday, and only the real estate company remembered. She prepared to make breakfast for Kan Di, but Yi Han suddenly informed her that it was a special day for him: his ten-year contract anniversary with Kan Di.
He explained that Kan Di had flown to Beijing and would return that night, and he planned to treat her to French cuisine, so Pei Youyou wouldn't need to cook for her. Pei Youyou's earlier good mood quickly vanished. Later, while Pei Youyou was working at her nail salon, Yi Han called and told her his assistant, Dawei, would pick her up for something good. Pei Youyou wondered if he was finally showing some consideration.
Dawei, driving her, further hinted that Yi Han was likely buying her something at the jewelry store, making Pei Youyou feel a surge of happiness. However, upon arrival, Yi Han asked her to help him select a gift for Kan Di, dashing Pei Youyou's hopes. Despite her disappointment, she thoughtfully helped him choose a necklace from the Aurora series, named "Mountain and Sea," which symbolized love overcoming all obstacles, a design also favored by Yi Han.
To thank her for her advice, Yi Han then bought a second necklace for Pei Youyou. At the nail salon, Qingqing noticed the necklace on Pei Youyou, and her mind became even more twisted. She reported to Gao Lang that she hadn't found any significant clues. Gao Lang acknowledged the necklace but dismissed it as a "small benefit," stating there was "no crisis" currently, and suggested that their relationship was inherently fragile and would break under any real challenge.
He planned to use other means to make Pei Youyou realize the dangers of being involved with Yi Han, hoping she would leave him. Separately, Director Lin Tiannuo asked Yi Han about his plans for Pei Youyou's birthday, only to discover that Yi Han was unaware it was her birthday. Recognizing the situation, Director Lin called Pei Youyou to invite her to a birthday dinner.
Pei Youyou was touched that he remembered her true birthday, which even her father often forgot and was different from the date on her ID. However, to maintain her image, she lied to Lin Tiannuo, claiming Yi Han was taking her to dinner that night and declined his invitation. In another scene, Ran Zishu was filming a rain sequence. Upon seeing Lu Ming arrive on set, she deliberately requested an additional take. After the scene, Lu Ming, noticing she was drenched, covered her with his jacket, an act that made Ran Zishu feel her efforts were worthwhile.
Episode 8 Recap
Pei Youyou was walking home when she saw colorful balloons floating into the sky, delighting the children nearby. Unbeknownst to her, these balloons were a silent birthday wish from Liu Tiannuo, who had arranged them after she declined his invitation to celebrate. He watched her from a distance, wishing her a happy birthday before quietly departing. Meanwhile, Yi Han and Han Di had dinner to celebrate their tenth anniversary.
Han Di playfully reminded him how quickly time had passed and teased him about tricking her ten years ago. Yi Han then presented her with a beautiful necklace. Han Di initially hesitated to accept such a precious gift but ultimately did, insisting on putting it on herself.
She also revealed that she was fully aware Pei Youyou had been making the breakfasts Yi Han claimed as his own for the past two weeks, a fact she hadn't exposed publicly to save his face. Han Di’s constant oversight led Yi Han to express frustration, saying she treated him like her son. Han Di, unphased, simply replied, "I am your mother." Pei Youyou returned home alone, pondering how Yi Han's dinner with Han Di might be going.
She made instant noodles for herself, reflecting that it was her birthday and she should at least have a bowl of longevity noodles. Elsewhere, Ran Zishu was on set filming and, to prove her diligence as an actress, requested an additional take for a rain scene. Lu Ming, seeing her efforts in the rain, gave her his jacket. She shared with him that she wasn't from a professional acting background and thus treasured every filming opportunity.
After catching a cold from the rain, Ran Zishu called Lu Ming, who arrived to find her unwell. After discussing taking a hot bath and drinking brown sugar water, he offered to take her to the hospital, but she insisted on staying in. While with Ran Zishu, Lu Ming received a phone call from Director Lin (Liu Tiannuo), who informed him it was Pei Youyou's birthday.
Lu Ming was surprised, as he knew her official ID stated a different date, and found it peculiar how attentive Director Lin was to his sister. Lu Ming then called Pei Youyou to wish her a happy birthday. Pei Youyou, wanting to maintain appearances, lied and claimed she was having French dinner with Yi Han.
Pei Youyou then noticed a female voice nearby Lu Ming, and before she could say more, Lu Ming quickly ended the call, promising to make it up with a present later. Pei Youyou, left wondering who Lu Ming was with, speculated if he was dating someone on set. At the same time, Han Di remarked on Yi Han's recent maturation since being with Pei Youyou, suggesting she was the cause.
Yi Han, however, denied this, insisting he hadn't changed for Pei Youyou. When Han Di mentioned it was Pei Youyou’s birthday, Yi Han initially questioned it, stating her ID showed a different date, but Han Di clarified that her ID had an uncorrected error. Yi Han then abruptly announced he had an urgent matter on set and left the dinner. Pei Youyou received a text message promising a surprise if she opened her door.
She found a bouquet of flowers with a card, bearing Yi Han's name and an address at Kangdong Road, No. 588, Snow Forest, B1 Floor. Believing it was Yi Han's thoughtful gesture, she eagerly prepared to leave. Meanwhile, Yi Han, who had ordered a birthday cake to be delivered before midnight, returned home to find Pei Youyou gone and the flowers.
He initially felt a pang of jealousy that she might have gone out with someone else, but upon seeing his name signed on the card and recalling hateful online comments about their relationship, he realized it was a trap. Panicked, he rushed out, calling Pei Youyou to warn her that he hadn't sent the card and to immediately return home. Before Pei Youyou could fully grasp the situation or respond, she was ambushed, her mouth covered, and pulled away.
Yi Han, hearing no further response on the phone, drove frantically to the Kangdong Road address. He found Pei Youyou's necklace on the ground, leading him to a locked room. Without hesitation, he broke through the door, finding a terrified and bound Pei Youyou. She instinctively collapsed into his arms, relieved and emotional. As they drove home, Pei Youyou, fearing Yi Han would scold her for her gullibility, confessed her stupidity.
Yi Han reassured her, emphasizing his concern for "his people" and his determination to find who was responsible. They discussed potential enemies; Pei Youyou suggested it was probably someone who liked Yi Han, recalling the constant online harassment she received since their public relationship, labeling her a "scheming girl" unworthy of him. Yi Han, however, believed keyboard warriors wouldn't resort to such actions, suspecting a more sinister plot with a tangible benefit for the perpetrator.
They reported the incident to the police, who opened a case. For her safety, Yi Han insisted his assistant, Haozi, drive Pei Youyou to and from work, a measure she initially resisted but ultimately accepted. Seeing how easily she was tricked, Yi Han teasingly asked if she had fallen in love with him, attributing her lapse in judgment to love.
Pei Youyou, flustered, evaded the question and countered, asking why he had left his tenth-anniversary dinner with Han Di to find her, implying he, too, might be in love. Later, Pei Youyou noticed Yi Han's injured arm, sustained from breaking down the door, and insisted he take a few days off from filming, expressing concern about action scenes being too much for him.
Yi Han playfully asked if she was worried about him, to which she retorted that she was only concerned about his ability to earn money if he couldn't work. Despite his earlier teasing, Yi Han genuinely celebrated Pei Youyou’s birthday that night. He presented her with a cake, fulfilling her wish to blow out candles, a tradition she hadn't observed since her mother's passing and her father's neglect. Pei Youyou was deeply moved, shedding tears of gratitude.
Yi Han, seeing her reaction, asked if she was touched, to which she feigned indifference, prompting him to humorously ask if she loved him more. He later reflected on the intense fear and helplessness he felt seeing her in danger, realizing he already had the answer to his lingering questions about his feelings for her. He hoped to celebrate her birthday with her every year.
The next morning, Lu Ming, having heard about the previous night's accident and Yi Han's injury, rushed to check on Pei Youyou, relieved to find her safe. Yi Han joked about the incident being a "white knight rescuing the beauty" moment, but Lu Ming dismissed the "beauty" part. Lu Ming also revealed that filming for the day had been adjusted because Ran Zishu had also fallen sick, suffering a 41-degree fever all night.
Pei Youyou was surprised, asking how he knew so much, to which Lu Ming admitted he had stayed by Ran Zishu's side all night. Pei Youyou questioned if he was alone with a girl all night. Meanwhile, Ran Zishu's agent admonished her for letting Lu Ming be seen leaving her room by the entire crew, despite Ran Zishu being delighted that her illness had "drastically accelerated the progress of their love."
Later, Pei Youyou confided in Yi Han, expressing concern that Ran Zishu seemed to have an "infatuation with men" and might be interested in Lu Ming. Yi Han, however, dismissed her concerns, stating that Ran Zishu wouldn't like Lu Ming because she was actually infatuated with him, Yi Han, having confessed to him previously, though he held no interest in her.
Qingqing, disappointed that the kidnapping failed to break Yi Han and Pei Youyou apart, confided in Gao Lang, who was the mastermind behind the previous plot. They decided to find a "vulnerable point." Qingqing then proposed that she and her colleagues visit Yi Han at his home under the pretense of checking on him, knowing Pei Youyou would be taking time off to care for him. Pei Youyou reluctantly agreed to the visit.
Fearing Yi Han's irritation with unexpected guests, Pei Youyou secretly arranged for his assistant, Dawei, to take him to the hospital and stall for as long as possible, even suggesting extra X-rays. Upon arriving at Yi Han's luxurious apartment, the colleagues were overly enthusiastic, touching valuable items like a purple sand teapot and a vinyl record, much to Pei Youyou's dismay, who tried to protect the items.
As it grew late and Yi Han still wasn't back, the manager suggested Pei Youyou cook for everyone while they waited. Seizing the opportunity, Qingqing encouraged some colleagues to "tour" Yi Han's bedroom, with the manager covering for them. Inside, Qingqing subtly photographed the room and, noting the absence of Pei Youyou's clothes, suspected they weren't living together. Her suspicions were confirmed when she found a "Dating Contract" hidden in a drawer.
Episode 9 Recap
Qingqing reached out to take a look at the "Dating Contract," but Pei Youyou entered the room. At the dinner table, Qingqing complained about the simplicity of the meal Pei Youyou had prepared. Just then, Yi Han returned home, bringing a chef and an array of gourmet food with him. Throughout the meal, Yi Han openly displayed his affection for Pei Youyou, much to Qingqing's annoyance.
Later, during a game, Yi Han secretly arranged for the other players to let Pei Youyou win. Pei Youyou, who was not skilled at the game, ended up winning several rounds, which brought a smile to Yi Han's face. Pei Youyou, realizing Yi Han had manipulated the game, confronted him, asking if he was trying to win her over. Yi Han didn't answer directly but pressed her against a wall, causing her heart to race.
He then simply told her to clean up the messy living room before retreating to his room. Yi Han pondered his actions, realizing he wanted to see Pei Youyou smile and that her happiness brought him joy. He questioned if he was falling for her, concluding that a woman must be the reason behind a man's swift personal growth, and that woman must be Pei Youyou.
Meanwhile, Qingqing called Gao Lang to inform him of her location at Yi Han's house. At the hospital, Gao Lang received grim news from the doctor regarding his sister's critical condition. The doctor advised him to let go, as his sister was suffering immensely, and urged him to prepare for the inevitable. Witnessing his sister's fragile state, Gao Lang's hatred for Yi Han intensified, and he vowed to make those responsible suffer.
Later, as Pei Youyou stepped out to dispose of garbage, Qingqing seized the opportunity to secretly photograph the apartment door's access code. Qingqing and Gao Lang, motivated by their desire to expose Yi Han, intended to use the dating contract to publicly reveal Yi Han and Pei Youyou's relationship. Their goal was to discredit Yi Han, accusing him of public deception and moral corruption.
Unbeknownst to Yi Han and Pei Youyou, they were already being targeted by hidden adversaries, setting the stage for an impending storm. At the hotel, Ran Zishu observed Lu Ming assisting a young woman into an elevator. Filled with suspicion, she followed them into the room and quickly realized the girl was feigning dizziness to get closer to Lu Ming. Ran Zishu immediately exposed the girl's ploy and declared herself Lu Ming's girlfriend.
The girl, revealed to be Director Liang's younger sister, left in embarrassment, apologizing to Ran Zishu. Ran Zishu then demanded that Lu Ming refrain from physical contact with other women, a notion Lu Ming found unusual given his upbringing abroad. Ran Zishu passionately reminded him that they had spent a night together and he was obligated to take responsibility. Overwhelmed by her persistence and the odd looks from the film crew, Lu Ming called Pei Youyou for advice.
Before Pei Youyou could arrive, Ran Zishu, with a dramatic display of tears and cultural pressure, successfully manipulated a sympathetic Lu Ming into agreeing to be her boyfriend. Pei Youyou arrived at the set after Lu Ming called her, and he quickly informed her that Ran Zishu was now his girlfriend, much to Pei Youyou's frustration, as she believed him to be too easily fooled.
She then greeted Brother Tian'nuo, who mentioned having a birthday gift for her and showed her a humorous scene from filming, leading to a pleasant conversation. Observing their cheerful interaction, Yi Han became visibly jealous. He later asked Haozi to buy some candy, explaining he needed to prepare for an upcoming kiss scene, an unusual request since Yi Han typically dislikes sweets.
Ran Zishu approached Yi Han to suggest using forced perspective for their kiss scene, citing her new relationship with Lu Ming and its "sweetness" as the reason. Yi Han, who initially intended to make Pei Youyou jealous with the kiss but found himself unable to go through with it, agreed as long as the director approved. However, the director initially insisted on a genuine kiss.
Both Yi Han and Ran Zishu found themselves unable to proceed; Ran Zishu repeatedly pushed Yi Han away, conscious of Lu Ming watching, while Yi Han also hesitated. Pei Youyou and Lu Ming watched the scene unfold with palpable tension. Eventually, Brother Tian'nuo intervened to clear the set, and the kiss scene was ultimately filmed using forced perspective.
After filming concluded, Pei Youyou, who initially wanted to discuss Lu Ming and Ran Zishu with Ran Zishu, was inadvertently pulled into dinner by Ran Zishu and Yi Han, where Yi Han also invited Brother Tian'nuo. During the meal, Brother Tian'nuo impressed Pei Youyou with his extensive knowledge of cuisine, even clarifying that "Fish filet in hot chili oil" is essentially boiled fish finished with hot chili oil. He offered to cook for Pei Youyou if she ever desired.
Observing Pei Youyou's admiration for Brother Tian'nuo and her calling him 'Brother Tian'nuo', Yi Han's jealousy flared. Asserting his 'boss' status, Yi Han then asked her to debone his fish for him, remarking that he had no employees to order around at home, only a "lady boss with a bad temper."
Brother Tian'nuo then presented Pei Youyou with a vintage sketchbook by Master Qin Chuan as a birthday gift, which delighted her, recalling how she used to copy his artwork as a child. He recounted their childhood encounter, where he offered a crying Pei Youyou a White Rabbit milk candy and asked her to fold its wrapper into a star.
They played together daily until her parents' divorce led to them losing touch, and he expressed his profound happiness at their reunion. Yi Han's jealousy continued to grow as he listened to their shared memories.
Pei Youyou attempted to discuss Lu Ming and Ran Zishu with Ran Zishu, but Ran Zishu, with a dramatic performance, burst into tears and pleaded with Pei Youyou not to separate her from Lu Ming, portraying herself as a fragile girl who had finally found courage to pursue love. Brother Tian'nuo even praised Ran Zishu's acting skills. Touched by Ran Zishu's emotional appeal, Pei Youyou agreed to support her relationship with Lu Ming.
Later, while Yi Han and Pei Youyou were away from their apartment, Qingqing, using the stolen access code, snuck in and took the "Dating Contract." The following day, Yi Han, seeing White Rabbit milk candy, was reminded of Pei Youyou's childhood story with Brother Tian'nuo and tossed the candy into the trash. He then called Pei Youyou, asking her to bring him Omurice at the film set because the catering food was terrible.
Enticed by the offer of payment, Pei Youyou happily agreed. Upon arriving at the set, Pei Youyou accidentally tripped over an electrical wire, and a large lighting rig nearly fell on her.
Episode 10 Recap
As a light pole crashed down, Pei Youyou's clothes were ripped, though she remained unharmed. Liu Tiannuo quickly took off his own jacket and offered it to her. Witnessing this, Yi Han became jealous, pulling Youyou away and leading her into a private room. He demanded she remove Liu Tiannuo's jacket and wear his instead, but Youyou stubbornly refused. Their playful struggle was captured by paparazzi who had gathered outside the door.
Back home, Yi Han teased Youyou by showing her meme-like photos taken of her during the incident, which she found embarrassing. The next day, Yi Han had no scenes, so he took Youyou to an amusement park and an ice-themed attraction. He claimed it was "professional training" for her to get accustomed to public attention, but both genuinely enjoyed their time together. Inside the "Ice World," Youyou expressed her fondness for the place because of the movie "Frozen."
She shared her belief that those who love us are always near, and we should be brave enough to face our true selves and dreams, striving to achieve our goals. Yi Han, in turn, confessed that while he now had fame, he felt less free than he imagined. He truly wished to be an outstanding singer and actor, not just a celebrity, acknowledging the irony that he needed fame to gain recognition for his art.
That evening, news of Yi Han and his "girlfriend's" sweet date at the amusement park became a trending topic. Yi Han dismissed it as a trivial matter. Meanwhile, Qingqing, seeing the trending news, was consumed by jealousy. When Gao Lang called her, asking if she had obtained the dating contract, Qingqing lied, telling him she had not yet received it.
Elsewhere, Ran Zishu, observing Yi Han and Pei Youyou's high-profile dating, felt envious and instructed her assistant, Jiang Kai, to arrange a similar public date with her own boyfriend. Ran Zishu then approached Lu Ming, stating they should make their relationship public. Lu Ming, however, preferred their love to remain a private affair, questioning the need for grand gestures. Ran Zishu retorted that a relationship unknown to the world was merely an "underground relationship."
On their way to the film set, she feigned an eye irritation, then dramatically claimed to have twisted her ankle. Lu Ming, initially concerned, picked her up. Spotting numerous reporters, he quickly realized she was faking her injuries to create photo opportunities. He set her down, telling her she was being foolish and wasting other people's time and public resources.
Back on set, Yi Han endured a six-hour shoot for a scene requiring him to carry a heavy suitcase up stairs. Liu Tiannuo repeatedly called "Cut!" and demanded reshoots. Frustrated, Yi Han accused Liu Tiannuo of targeting him. Liu Tiannuo defended himself, asserting he was only being responsible for his project and that Yi Han's perceived challenges stemmed from his own performance. Enraged, Yi Han ripped his costume and declared he would not continue filming.
His assistant frantically called Kan Di. When Kan Di spoke with Liu Tiannuo, she apologized for Yi Han's departure and offered to cover any losses incurred. Liu Tiannuo graciously said he understood the emotional nature of actors and would give Yi Han time to adjust, then dismissed the crew for the day, instructing them to film the leading lady's scenes tomorrow. Afterward, Lu Ming directly asked Liu Tiannuo if he was truly interested in Youyou.
Liu Tiannuo smiled, stating that while he understood Lu Ming's thoughts, the day's events with Yi Han were entirely unrelated to any personal feelings he might have for Youyou, emphasizing his sole focus was making a good film. Later, Ran Zishu, still upset about Lu Ming's reaction, saw a photo of them on his phone. She pleaded with him not to delete it, calling it their only picture together.
Lu Ming, teasingly, took a new selfie with her and set it as his wallpaper. Ran Zishu then apologized for her "silly act" that delayed the crew's work. Lu Ming explained he was angry about her unprofessional behavior, having learned from Liu Tiannuo the importance of both skills and attitude. She promised to change, and after some playful banter, she asked if he was still her boyfriend.
He replied, "Depending on what you do," but then gave her a consoling hug. Meanwhile, Yi Han ignored Kan Di's calls, sending her a message that he needed to be alone. He then drove to Youyou's nail salon. Seeing her working on nail designs, he turned away when she noticed him, feigning that he was "just passing by" and wanted to take her home.
As she continued drawing, Yi Han complimented her artwork, an unusual occurrence that made Youyou question if the director had scolded him. He denied it. Youyou then mused on the complexities of adult life, where problems are too intricate to be solved by simply yelling back, unlike a child's cries. She concluded that despite life's general harshness, there were always small, wonderful things worth embracing. Yi Han asked Youyou to join him by the seaside for a drink.
He confided in her, likening himself to a bird that had been caged for too long, whose wings had aged despite now having freedom. Youyou perceptively realized he had run away from the set, feeling wronged and dejected about returning. She gently encouraged him to go back, explaining that his lack of freedom stemmed from being needed and anticipated by others. Yi Han then revealed his costume was damaged. Youyou immediately offered to fix it, suggesting adding a brooch.
As she began, Youyou demonstrated her detailed understanding of the character Shen Bing and his preferences, even attributing her insight to growing up with Liu Tiannuo. Yi Han, clearly jealous, snatched the jacket back from her. Youyou reassured him, explaining that Liu Tiannuo's meticulous nature contributed to his unique style. Yi Han admitted that Liu Tiannuo's talent made him doubt his own.
Youyou vehemently asserted Yi Han's talent, stating she had seen all his dramas and even named her favorite character he played, Mr. Su in "If I Weren't Myself," praising his portrayal of struggle and unrequited love. Deeply moved, Yi Han asked, "You still don't admit that you like me?" and then kissed her.
The next morning, Yi Han arrived at the film set to find himself surrounded by reporters, who relentlessly questioned him about his alleged "diva" behavior and abrupt departure from filming. Liu Tiannuo quickly intervened, addressing the media. He clarified that Yi Han had not quit or left, attributing the previous day's events to a "regular business discussion." He praised Yi Han's "superb professional integrity" and dedication, urging reporters not to misinterpret the situation, which helped to disperse them.
Still replaying the previous night's kiss with Youyou in his mind, Yi Han texted her. Before he could receive a reply, he received an anonymous message on his phone. It contained a photo of the dating contract and demanded he come alone to Room 1615 at Lijun Hotel, next to the film set, within 20 minutes, threatening to expose the contract's contents if he failed to comply.
Episode 11 Recap
Yi Han arrived at the Lijun Hotel, room 1615, to meet Qingqing, aware that she was the one who stole his dating contract with Pei Youyou after seeing his home surveillance. Qingqing, waiting for him, brazenly offered herself to him, questioning how he could keep a "lowly woman like Pei Youyou" by his side, especially since their contractual relationship was fake, and suggesting he use her instead. Yi Han found her proposition disgusting and rejected her.
He warned her that he knew about her burglary and that his home surveillance footage was sufficient proof, and he also revealed he had already had someone hack the hotel's surveillance cameras, giving her no escape if he chose to involve the police concerning their encounter. Unbeknownst to Yi Han, Qingqing had already texted Pei Youyou, feigning an emergency with a client needing gel extensions and asking her to come to the hotel room to help.
When Pei Youyou arrived and found Yi Han physically restraining Qingqing on the bed, Qingqing immediately accused Yi Han of attempting to sexually harass her. Yi Han vehemently denied it, explaining to Pei Youyou that nothing happened and he had only restrained Qingqing as she was taking her clothes off. Pei Youyou believed Yi Han's explanation about the hotel situation.
He apologized for installing surveillance cameras in the house when she first moved in, calling it human nature, and promised to have them removed the next day. Pei Youyou, however, felt uneasy and suggested moving out. Yi Han then proposed a marriage of convenience to neutralize Sun Qingqing's threat of exposing their dating contract. He reasoned that if they were married, they could dismiss the leaked contract as mere rumors and lies.
Pei Youyou strongly opposed this, stating that covering one lie with more lies would only complicate matters further and make it impossible to truly resolve the situation. She also worried about Sun Qingqing's continued silence, describing it as a "time bomb." She suggested an alternative solution: announcing their breakup before Sun Qingqing could expose them, allowing them to return to their separate lives.
Yi Han tried to remind her of their kiss by the riverside, but Pei Youyou, feeling overwhelmed, shut him down, insisting it was "not normal" and that they should move on. She internally questioned the possibility of Yi Han liking her, believing they were from two different worlds and she shouldn't harbor unrealistic fantasies.
Director Liu Tiannuo noticed a significant aesthetic and color coordination improvement in a retaken scene, realizing it was due to a green Cézanne-inspired decoration Pei Youyou had crafted for Yi Han's costume. Impressed by her deep understanding of the script and characters, even more than his own, he called Pei Youyou to the set to offer her a paid position to help enhance the production design.
While Pei Youyou initially felt it was too formal to accept payment from Liu Tiannuo, Yi Han, who had been contemplating Pei Youyou's suggestion of "separate lives" and saw her with Liu Tiannuo, became visibly jealous. He interrupted their conversation, insisted Pei Youyou demand payment, and then angrily pulled her away.
He accused her of wanting to break up with him for Liu Tiannuo, pointing out her willingness to charge him for a glass of water, yet refusing money from Liu Tiannuo. Pei Youyou fired back, highlighting her long-standing friendship with Liu Tiannuo compared to their short acquaintance. When Yi Han asked if that meant Liu Tiannuo was more important, she affirmed he was "way more important."
Furious, Yi Han stormed back to the makeup room, declaring Pei Youyou was "the least bit important" to him, leaving Pei Youyou to call him a "psycho." Ran Zishu, noticing Yi Han's foul mood, correctly guessed he had argued with Pei Youyou. She offered to help him for Lu Ming's sake, which led to a discussion about "liking" someone without specific circumstances.
Yi Han, applying this to himself, then questioned how he could possibly like Pei Youyou, insisting he should like someone like Kan Di instead. Misinterpreting Yi Han's questions, Ran Zishu initially accused him of betraying Pei Youyou but then, seeing his confusion, suggested he list the good and bad qualities of both Pei Youyou and Kan Di to clarify his feelings.
Yi Han took her advice, meticulously listing Kan Di's numerous positive traits, while only noting Pei Youyou's "cooking skills" under good qualities, and "petty, loves money, greedy, sordid, lousy dresser" under bad qualities. Unable to find any bad qualities for Kan Di, he dismissed the exercise, affirming he liked Kan Di and that the previous night's kiss with Pei Youyou was an accident. He then called Kan Di to ask her out for dinner.
While on the phone, he became distracted and increasingly jealous by Pei Youyou's ongoing phone conversation with Liu Tiannuo, which was about meeting the next day. He told Kan Di they would meet at their usual place and, driven by his jealousy, abruptly ended the call. Immediately after, he overheard Pei Youyou specifically mentioning the "Home-Style Dishes" restaurant.
Yi Han impulsively changed his dinner reservation with Kan Di to the "Home-Style Dishes" restaurant where Pei Youyou and Liu Tiannuo were meeting, constantly searching for Pei Youyou during his meal with Kan Di. Kan Di quickly noticed his unusual behavior and asked what was wrong. Yi Han admitted that Sun Qingqing had stolen their dating contract and was attempting to blackmail him. He proposed marrying Pei Youyou as a strategic move to nullify any potential exposure.
However, he also revealed Pei Youyou's desire to break up beforehand. Kan Di directly confronted Yi Han, asking if he had fallen for Pei Youyou, which he quickly denied. She saw through his facade, noting his conflicted expression and stating that when one's heart is already set on someone, confessing to another is impossible. Realizing he was struggling to confess his feelings for her, Kan Di advised him to stop making it hard for himself.
She then declared that neither breaking up nor marrying Pei Youyou were reliable solutions, and she would take charge of handling the situation with Sun Qingqing. However, she firmly stated that his personal feelings were something he needed to resolve on his own. After Kan Di left, Yi Han immediately made a phone call, instructing someone named Dawei.
Separately, Sun Qingqing met with Gao Lang, giving him the dating contract and stating her desire not for money, but to see Yi Han and Pei Youyou in a "dead end," to which Gao Lang agreed. When Pei Youyou returned home that night, she found Yi Han waiting for her in the dark.
He revealed he had waited for her all night at the restaurant, explaining that his planned dinner with Kan Di, intended for a confession, was interrupted by his overwhelming thoughts of Pei Youyou after overhearing her call with Liu Tiannuo. He couldn't confess his love to Kan Di because Pei Youyou's face was the only thing on his mind. He then turned on the lights to reveal a room decorated with balloons and "Love You" signs.
In a heartfelt confession, Yi Han admitted that his feelings for Kan Di were merely "dependence and trust," akin to a child's attachment to his mother, and that he had realized his true love was for Pei Youyou. He expressed how meeting her transformed his perspective on the world, filling it with anticipation. Overwhelmed, Pei Youyou accepted his confession, though still in disbelief. Yi Han then sealed their new commitment with a kiss.
The following morning, Yi Han, full of enthusiasm, woke Pei Youyou and, despite her protests and desire to wear her own grey clothes, insisted she change into white to match him. He then surprised her by driving them directly to the Civil Affairs Bureau to get married. Pei Youyou tried to resist, arguing it was too sudden and they hadn't even brought their residence books.
However, Yi Han had already anticipated this, admitting he had taken her residence book from her cabinet while she was asleep. He playfully brushed off her objections, pushing for them to get married quickly as the registry was about to open.
Episode 12 Recap
Yi Han and Pei Youyou went to the Civil Affairs Bureau to register their marriage. Despite Yi Han wearing sunglasses, they were quickly recognized by the public, who eagerly requested photos with him. The news of their marriage soon became a trending topic. Pei Youyou initially felt the marriage was surreal, even asking if the marriage certificate had anti-counterfeit marks. To make it feel more real, Yi Han presented her with a custom-made ring called "Dog's Tail."
He explained the name, drawing inspiration from a poem. Pei Youyou, feeling a touch of jealousy, then contrasted it with a necklace called "Mountain and Sea" that he had given to others, expressing concern about his past long-term affection for Kan Di, worried that his feelings for her might also change suddenly. Yi Han reassured her, emphasizing that their love was different and wouldn't be separated by anything.
As they arrived home, Kan Di was waiting, already aware of the trending topic. She confronted them, questioning why they registered their marriage without informing her. Yi Han explained that his primary goal wasn't just to solve a problem but that he genuinely wanted to marry Pei Youyou. He didn't want the proposal to be a calculated plan but an action taken out of love at the right moment.
Kan Di, however, was concerned about the potential repercussions, particularly if Sun Qingqing exposed their love contract. She warned that the public might perceive their marriage as a sham, like "The Boy Who Cried Wolf," making advertisers and the public highly sensitive. She stressed that a handwriting authentication would put them at a disadvantage. Kan Di concluded that they must retrieve the contract and urged them to remain silent and not create further problems in the interim.
Pei Youyou was restless, deeply concerned about Sun Qingqing's potential actions and the incessant media scrutiny, fearing that "the whole world will have changed" by morning. Yi Han, though accustomed to public scandals, admitted he was now worried because she was involved, fearing the harm this news explosion would cause her. He reassured her, teasingly asking if she truly loved him and reminding her that she was the wife of Yi Han, making her strong too.
Unable to sleep, Yi Han suggested they play a game to get to know each other better. He asked Pei Youyou about her past relationships, while she inquired about his financial status. When Pei Youyou denied having many ex-boyfriends, Yi Han playfully revealed a box of his old fan merchandise that she had collected from her school days, proving her long-standing admiration for him.
He declared that no matter how many boyfriends she may have had, he intended to be her last. Yi Han then handed over all his financial documents, including bank accounts, movie, album, and acting contracts, charity work, advertisements, and investments, asking her to calculate his total wealth. Pei Youyou, excited by the prospect, meticulously began counting the money.
She admitted she was still uncomfortable with the "husband and wife" designation, finding it "definite and serious," and said she needed time to adapt. She joked that she would have married him sooner if she had known about his substantial wealth, so engrossed in her calculations that she ignored a call from her brother, Lu Ming. Ran Zishu hosted a party and proudly introduced Lu Ming as her boyfriend.
One of her "best friends," Zhou Xintong, approached Ran Zishu, openly hinting for a limited edition Chanel purse for her upcoming "birthday" next month. Lu Ming became concerned about his sister, Pei Youyou, and Ran Zishu encouraged him to call her, though Pei Youyou was too engrossed in counting money to answer. Later, Zhou Xintong approached Lu Ming alone.
He confronted her, having deduced that her birthday was not actually next month and that she was merely fabricating it to get the expensive bag. Zhou Xintong, unfazed, cynically explained that Ran Zishu gives her valuable gifts, and in return, she offers a "wonderful friendship"—a mutually beneficial arrangement. Disgusted by this, Lu Ming, uncharacteristically angry, insisted that Ran Zishu send everyone home, claiming he was uncomfortable. Although startled by his intensity, Ran Zishu complied.
She later confessed to Lu Ming that she was well aware of Zhou Xintong's actual birthday, but had chosen to overlook her friend's opportunism, still considering her a best friend. She explained that Zhou Xintong's "birthday" often coincided with the release of new designer purses. Lu Ming was deeply touched by Ran Zishu's naive loyalty and consoled her, realizing her unique sincerity amidst superficial friendships.
Pei Youyou, still concerned about Yi Han's past devotion to Kan Di, asked how he could have loved Kan Di for so many years and then simply stopped, fearing she might become another "cautionary example." Yi Han dismissed her worries, then recorded a solemn video oath on his phone, promising to love Pei Youyou for his entire life, both in spirit and body, and to entrust all his earnings to her, aside from filial duties and contributions to public welfare.
He lightened the mood with a self-deprecating remark about the declaration sounding cheesy, but affirmed his sincerity. He then teasingly asked if Liu Tiannuo was one of her ten supposed ex-boyfriends, a suggestion Pei Youyou vehemently denied. Trouble compounded as Gao Lang leaked Yi Han and Pei Youyou's contract online, causing an immediate uproar and making them a trending topic.
Simultaneously, Zhou Xintong, likely in retaliation for being asked to leave the party, spread malicious rumors online about Ran Zishu, claiming she "plays around" and "has a cartload of boyfriends." Ran Zishu, who had initially considered announcing her relationship to divert public attention, found herself already on the trending topics and needing to address her own "mess." Kan Di informed Yi Han that the contract leak was creating serious issues with advertisers, potentially leading to contract terminations and compensation.
The most critical problem was that the producer of the film "Remaining Life" intended to replace Yi Han from his supporting role to "contain losses," a decision made easier by his minor part compared to Ran Zishu, the female lead, whose replacement would cause significant financial damage despite her own recent negative publicity.
Kan Di presented Yi Han with two solutions for the leaked contract: either publicly admit fault, terminate contracts, and pay compensation, or deny the contract's legitimacy and engage in a prolonged legal battle. Yi Han decisively chose the first option, stating his aversion to lying and his belief that an honest approach would lead to a smoother resolution. Kan Di acknowledged his understanding of the implications.
Privately, Pei Youyou later approached Kan Di, arguing that the second option seemed "safer" and less damaging. However, Kan Di revealed that Yi Han's choice was entirely to protect Pei Youyou. He opted for the "simplistic" and quickest resolution to shield her from becoming the "biggest victim" in a drawn-out online smear campaign. Kan Di explained that Yi Han, accustomed to slander with his team and fans for protection, feared for Pei Youyou, who lacked such a defense.
The following morning, Pei Youyou woke up, initially concerned she was late for work. Yi Han surprised her by revealing he had already called her manager to arrange a day off for her, teasing that since he was "jobless" they would rely on her income. He then served her a breakfast of personally ground soy milk and perfectly fried dough sticks, earning her compliments on his improved cooking. As they ate, they noticed an unusual amount of noise outside their house, leading them to suspect more trouble was brewing. Yi Han went to investigate.
Episode 13 Recap
Ran Zishu and Lu Ming moved in next door to Youyou and Yi Han. Youyou asked Ran Zishu why she wasn't working, and Ran Zishu explained that the producers of the film "Remaining Life" were planning to replace Yi Han. She strongly opposed this and went to protest to Director Lin, even threatening to quit if Yi Han was replaced. There, she witnessed Lin Tiannuo in a heated argument with the investors.
Lin Tiannuo argued that after more than half a month of shooting, the cast and crew had developed an undeniable belief in the story and characters, and replacing the lead now would severely impact the creative process. The producers countered that Yi Han's recent troubles and negative publicity would hurt ticket sales. Lin Tiannuo dismissed Yi Han's dating as a personal matter unrelated to the film's success and declared that if Yi Han was replaced, he would also quit.
Hearing Ran Zishu recount this, Yi Han was surprised and touched by how much Lin Tiannuo valued him. The film's production was completely halted due to Lin Tiannuo’s firm stance, which allowed Ran Zishu and Lu Ming the time to move. Ran Zishu explained she quickly purchased the unit next to Youyou's after visiting, as she liked the layout and the neighborly environment.
When Lu Ming suggested selling their unit due to worries about Yi Han's sponsors terminating contracts and seeking compensation, Youyou and Yi Han quickly dismissed the idea. Later, Youyou and Yi Han decided to invite Lin Tiannuo for dinner to express their gratitude, acknowledging that the production halt likely affected him the most. Initially, Yi Han believed Lin Tiannuo's actions were purely professional, stemming from losing an indispensable actor for a serious project, not out of personal regard for him.
They settled on a cost-effective hotpot dinner on the rooftop, valuing the good air circulation and privacy. Lin Tiannuo joined Youyou, Yi Han, Ran Zishu, and Lu Ming for the hotpot. Yi Han poured wine and proposed a toast to "Remaining Life." As the evening progressed, everyone became quite drunk. Yi Han and Lin Tiannuo got into a drunken argument about the film and each other's competence.
Yi Han, in his inebriated state, also expressed his possessiveness of Youyou, warning Lin Tiannuo to stay away, stating that Lin Tiannuo was only interested in his wife. Eventually, Youyou and Ran Zishu helped their respective partners, Yi Han and Lu Ming, back home, leaving Lin Tiannuo alone by the hotpot. Later that night, as Yi Han lay in bed seemingly asleep, Youyou softly called him "hubby" multiple times. Yi Han, who was secretly awake, heard her.
The next morning, Lin Tiannuo knocked on their door. Yi Han, still in bed, playfully tried to prevent Youyou from answering, urging her to call him "hubby" again. He revealed that the security cameras, which he had "procrastinated" on removing, had recorded her calling him "hubby" and joked about capturing their newlywed memories. Youyou, furious that the cameras were still there, threatened to hit him with a pillow.
By the time they finally got to the door, Lin Tiannuo was gone, having cleaned all the dishes before leaving. Youyou later called Lin Tiannuo to apologize for their behavior. He told her it was fine and, after a pause, wished her "to be happy," revealing that he had been worried about her and Yi Han but was now reassured.
In the following days, Yi Han kept Youyou from going online or visiting her shop, fearing she would be upset by negative comments. Ran Zishu also advised Youyou to avoid social media. Despite Yi Han's efforts, Youyou repeatedly tried to sneak her phone, only to be caught by him. Feeling restless, Youyou secretly went to her shop, "Inspire", after calling the manager. She arrived to find the storefront vandalized with paint, making her feel guilty.
However, her shop manager and colleagues reassured her, expressing their support and loyalty. Yi Han, having anticipated her going to the shop, arrived quickly and caught a man in the act of further defacing the storefront. Youyou suspected the man was hired, a suspicion confirmed when she threatened to call the police, and he confessed everything. The shop manager then called Qingqing, falsely claiming Youyou had been fired and the shop was short-staffed, urging Qingqing to come help.
Qingqing, sounding delighted, readily agreed. After Youyou reassured him she could handle the situation, Yi Han left. When Sun Qingqing arrived, Youyou directly confronted her, revealing her knowledge of Qingqing's involvement in the vandalism. Youyou explained that despite Qingqing's cunning use of e-commerce and chat to hide her identity and use third-party transfers, the police could still trace her. She offered Qingqing a choice: pay for the damages and promise to stop, or face legal consequences.
Sun Qingqing admitted she wanted to see Youyou and Yi Han fall from grace. Meanwhile, Yi Han released a sincere apology letter to the public, admitting he was "young and reckless, defeated by true love." He confessed to his previous deception and apologized, which significantly softened public opinion. Kan Di, witnessing this positive turn, believed she had found a way to further reassure advertisers.
She took security footage from Youyou and Yi Han's home and edited a video for public release. The released home videos, showcasing sweet and clumsy moments between Youyou and Yi Han, became an instant hit online. Viewers praised their compatibility, calling Yi Han "Ylut Han the klutz" but manly, and Youyou "cute," solidifying widespread support for the couple and further enhancing Yi Han's public image.
Though Yi Han playfully complained about the "klutz" nickname, Kan Di explained it helped shed his previous aloof image and showcased his genuine self. With Yi Han's reputation on the rise, Youyou decided to take charge of their finances, implementing a strict budget. She divided Yi Han's money into three parts: investments managed by Kan Di, a fund for social activities (including gifts, elder care, and post-marriage expenses), and daily expenses.
She set a daily allowance of ¥200 for weekdays and ¥500 for weekends, a significant increase from her previous ¥50-80 daily budget. Yi Han found this amusing, remarking that it was the first time in his life he felt like "a mob boss's lover." Just as they were enjoying a meal together, Youyou received an urgent phone call from the shop manager, who exclaimed, "something is wrong!"
Episode 14 Recap
The shop manager was in a state of panic as the nail salon's online appointment system was being sabotaged. After a recent vlog featuring Youyou and Yi Han caused a surge in bookings, all appointments were suddenly canceled, and future slots were maliciously re-booked, only to be canceled again. The manager suspected their former colleague, Sun Qingqing, was behind the attacks, seeking revenge after failing to find employment elsewhere.
Youyou, however, dismissed the idea of pursuing the culprit, asserting that even if caught, they couldn't be punished, and it wouldn't solve the core problem. Instead, she proposed that the shop abandon the unreliable online system and focus on leveraging its excellent physical location and her own presence to attract walk-in customers and revive their business. Her colleagues quickly rallied behind her.
While Youyou was actively promoting the shop to passersby, a delivery person arrived with 99 high-quality Ecuadorian roses from Yi Han. Upon seeing the ¥3,500 receipt, even with a half-price discount arranged by Yi Han, Youyou was appalled by the extravagance and immediately tried to return them, but was unsuccessful. Meanwhile, Yi Han excitedly called Youyou, hoping she felt touched and loved him more.
However, Youyou scolded him for the expensive and impractical gift, especially since he was currently jobless and she was the sole earner. She reminded him that they were now "living their days" as a married couple, not just dating. Yi Han, hurt by her words, pointed out that she had previously said their marriage was too sudden and she needed time to adapt, which was why he thought a romantic gesture like flowers would help them "start from dating."
Youyou abruptly hung up. Feeling insulted by her implied criticism of his unemployment, Yi Han called Kan Di, declaring his desire to get back to work. Kan Di, preoccupied with her own affairs, curtly replied that she had no intention of letting him remain idle and quickly ended the call.
Back at the shop, Youyou decided to sell the roses to her colleagues and the manager at a discount, reasoning that it would recover some of the money and benefit others, while also demonstrating her commitment to frugality and making up the "financial gap" he had created. Kan Di then approached Lin Tiannuo, suggesting that Yi Han should return to work on the "Remaining Life" production.
Lin Tiannuo was resistant, stating that with the investors having pulled out, he couldn't simply restart filming. Kan Di sharply criticized his "pride" and "thin-skinned" nature, then announced that she had already "humbled herself" on his behalf. Reluctantly, Lin Tiannuo agreed to accompany her to meet the investors.
Later, Kan Di revealed her true intentions to Yi Han on the phone: she had orchestrated the meeting to manipulate the "stubborn and aloof" but ultimately "gentlemanly" Lin Tiannuo into apologizing to the investors. She confessed to faking 70% of her drunkenness and performing a dramatic act of vomiting in the men's restroom to solidify his belief in her distress, knowing he wouldn't abandon a seemingly helpless woman.
Her elaborate ruse worked perfectly, not only securing the resumption of filming for "Remaining Life" but also leading Lin Tiannuo to clear the restroom for her. With the investors appeased and filming set to resume, Yi Han was informed that he could return to work. Despite their earlier disagreement, Yi Han met Youyou after work, offering a red packet as an apology.
Youyou, however, refused to be swayed by money, emphasizing the importance of shared values and prudent spending for their future. Yi Han, acknowledging his mistake, promised to self-reflect and offered to have the cost of the roses deducted from his daily allowance, even suggesting he'd skip dinner to save. Youyou, concerned for his health, affectionately offered to make him noodles.
The next morning, Yi Han surprised Youyou by showing up at her nail shop, claiming he needed to help out since he was currently jobless and didn't want to "live off a woman." He went on to propose an "office romance." Youyou, finding the idea rather exciting, agreed. Their relationship continued to deepen, and Yi Han was overjoyed when Youyou casually called him "Hubby" as she expressed hunger.
He playfully suggested they no longer needed separate beds, to which she coyly responded "we'll see," though they eventually shared a room. The following morning, Youyou confided in Yi Han about a recurring childhood dream: her mother leaving with a suitcase, and Youyou could never catch up, only seeing her back.
She had always feared forgetting her mother's face, but this time in her dream, she finally caught up and saw her mother clearly, realizing she had never truly forgotten her. She shared her past hope of buying back their old house, envisioning her mother's return, a hope that was shattered when Lu Ming told her her mother was no longer alive.
This dashed her desire to both meet and forgive her mother, leaving her with the painful realization that she would carry her hatred for her mother to her grave. Yi Han comforted her, urging her to stop dwelling on such heavy thoughts. Youyou then asked him to burn the letters her mother had left her, admitting she hadn't the courage to read them.
Yi Han, who had secretly read the letters previously while looking for her household register, silently formed a plan. Later, while discussing a potential honeymoon, Youyou noticed that Yi Han had changed his phone password to her birthday and was touched. He then mentioned that Haozi had suggested they leverage their current popularity by going out in matching couple's clothes for paparazzi photos. Yi Han playfully tried to persuade Youyou to go for a stroll to get photos.
When she refused, he dramatically feigned hurt, complaining that her phone password wasn't his birthday, and insisted on staying in bed. Youyou, amused by his antics, eventually dragged him out, proposing they could take photos at home instead. In a bonus scene, after a dinner meeting, Kan Di was perplexed by the strange looks she received from others as they exited.
Lin Tiannuo then revealed that to clear the men's restroom for her when she was "vomiting," he had told everyone his "pregnant wife" had drunk too much and might be having a miscarriage, requiring emergency treatment, and that an ambulance was on its way. Kan Di was thoroughly enraged by his outrageous fabrication.
Episode 15 Recap
Youyou receives an email from the International Nail Art Contest committee, confirming her registration. The email details the process, including submitting her work for preliminary selection by September 23rd, with the possibility of advancing to the finals. The ultimate winner will receive an all-expenses-paid trip to travel the world, visiting 28 countries, 54 cities, and 106 top nail salons for learning opportunities. Youyou is excited and shares the news with Yezi, expressing some doubt about her skill level.
Yezi reassures her, highlighting her talent and the potential career transformation a win could bring. Youyou affirms her love for her work, reminding Yezi that they are "fingernail artists." Later, Yi Han arrives at the nail salon and finds Youyou sketching designs for the competition. Surprised by the existence of an International Nail Art Contest, he asks her to pause her work to discuss something.
Yi Han invites Youyou to a dinner with his friends from the entertainment industry—producers, directors, and scriptwriters—explaining they want to meet her as they missed their wedding due to intense paparazzi coverage. Youyou is hesitant, feeling she doesn't know them and it would be awkward. Yi Han insists, having already agreed, and suggests she integrate into his life, reminding her that these friends have supported him in his career. He also asks Ran Zishu to accompany them. Youyou reluctantly agrees.
At the dinner, Yi Han introduces Youyou as his wife to his friends, including Zheng Xu and Liao Shaohui. The conversations quickly turn to business investments and music projects, with discussions about Ryuichi Sakamoto. Youyou feels out of place and is repeatedly asked by Yi Han's friends to pour water and tea, treating her as a server.
Youyou candidly clarifies that she is a nail artist and merely works at Inspire Nail Salon, not owning it, and offers them her services if they have time. Yi Han grows increasingly uncomfortable with his friends' treatment of Youyou. Ran Zishu attempts to smooth things over by drinking on Youyou's behalf. Unable to endure the situation, Yi Han makes an early exit, claiming to feel unwell.
Youyou is left feeling embarrassed, while Ran Zishu gets very drunk while continuing to drink with the group. Youyou takes a heavily intoxicated Ran Zishu home. Ran Zishu, in her drunken state, laments wanting to get drunk to avoid problems and later assures Youyou that she and Lu Ming will always be there for her, also warning Youyou not to tell Lu Ming about any marital issues. Upon returning home, Youyou finds Yi Han waiting in the dark.
An argument erupts. Yi Han accuses Youyou of lacking self-respect and embarrassing him by serving his friends, asserting she is his wife, not a server, and that she didn't consider his dignity. Youyou argues that she was simply "helping out the group" and that his reaction would not have been as severe if Ran Zishu had done the same.
She believes he looks down on her for being a nail artist and regrets marrying her, suggesting he should have married someone more "suitable." She firmly states that her profession is a fact he cannot change. Angered, Yi Han offers to open five nail salons for her to become a boss. The heated exchange escalates, with Youyou threatening to leave.
Yi Han initially tries to stop her but then, in a moment of frustration, takes his own luggage and leaves for the film set. At the film set, Lin Tiannuo is surprised to see Yi Han back three days early. He teases Yi Han, assuming his wife kicked him out. Yi Han corrects him, saying he "willingly left home" after a fight he couldn't win. They proceed to drink heavily.
Yi Han complains about women being troublesome and Youyou's accusation that he looks down on her. However, he admits to Lin Tiannuo that he actually finds Youyou "really cute" but can't bring himself to tell her directly, fearing it would cost him his "dignity." Lin Tiannuo challenges this, suggesting he does harbor some condescension, which Yi Han hesitantly admits is "perhaps just a little," vowing to overcome it.
A drunken Yi Han then wonders when he can go home, muttering about a "big project" he hasn't yet shared with Youyou. Both men eventually pass out, sleeping together. Meanwhile, Youyou remains at home, unable to concentrate on her nail art designs, preoccupied with the fight with Yi Han. She repeatedly sketches and tears up drawings. Simultaneously, Gao Lang is at the hospital, where his sister, Zhang Xiaofei, is in critical condition.
After an agonizing wait, the doctor informs him that Zhang Xiaofei is temporarily out of danger but needs to be moved to the ICU for close monitoring, and he must manage the associated fees. The next morning, Youyou arrives at work, visibly exhausted, and seeks Yezi's opinion on her nail art drafts. Yezi praises the chrome effect and suggests using chrome powder as a more detailed foundation, despite the higher cost.
At the film set, Yi Han is startled awake by a phone call, realizing he's been sleeping in Lin Tiannuo's arms. He quickly gathers his belongings and departs. In Lin Tiannuo's office, Lu Ming confronts Yi Han, believing he bullied Youyou, as Ran Zishu had come home crying about Youyou being wronged. Yi Han denies the accusation, dismissing Ran Zishu's drunken remarks. Lin Tiannuo intervenes, sending Lu Ming to oversee actor selections to prevent a fight.
Yi Han then laments to Lin Tiannuo about his situation, frustrated that Lu Ming has become an 'enemy,' which Yi Han attributes to Ran Zishu's drunken ramblings. Now sober, Lin Tiannuo probes Yi Han about the issues and playfully asks if their divorce would give him another chance with Youyou, much to Yi Han's dismay. Later, Lu Ming interrogates Ran Zishu about Youyou and Yi Han.
Ran Zishu, swayed by the promise of Lu Ming moving in with her as a "special bonus," spills all the details, mentally apologizing to Youyou for her inability to resist Lu Ming's charm. Ran Zishu and Lu Ming attend actor auditions, as the actress playing Zishu's best friend has broken her arm. They walk into the dressing room and discover an aspiring actress, Sun Qingqing, in an intimate embrace with a staff member. Sun Qingqing quickly disengages and flees.
The staff member claims Sun Qingqing initiated the contact and pleads with Lu Ming not to inform Director Lin, fearing dismissal. Lu Ming, being trusting, believes him and promises secrecy, while Ran Zishu expresses skepticism at Lu Ming's naivety. After work, Youyou feels as though she is being followed. This is Yi Han's assistant, acting under Yi Han's instructions to protect her now that she is considered a "public figure."
Later, while on the phone with his assistant, Yi Han receives a knock at his door. It's Sun Qingqing, claiming she needs to borrow a script. Recognizing her, Yi Han angrily orders her to leave and threatens her not to appear before him again. Enraged, Sun Qingqing vows to cause trouble. Yi Han immediately calls Lin Tiannuo to report that Sun Qingqing is harassing him. Lin Tiannuo subsequently informs Kan Di about the harassment.
Youyou visits a bookstore in search of inspiration. The cashier recognizes her from her vlogs, wishes her and Yi Han happiness, and gifts her a poster for a Qin Chuan art exhibition, which Youyou adores. Youyou is deeply moved by this unexpected act of kindness. She attempts to purchase tickets for the Qin Chuan art exhibition online, but they are sold out. She tries to negotiate a price with a reseller via messaging but is blocked.
Unbeknownst to Youyou, both Yi Han and Lin Tiannuo are engaged in a fierce competition to acquire tickets for the very same exhibition, each hoping to give them to her. During a phone call with his assistant regarding Youyou, Yi Han learns of her interest in Qin Chuan and researches the artist online.
Yi Han then travels to the designated meetup spot, under the bridge on East City Street, to buy a ticket, only to find Lin Tiannuo there with the same intention. After overhearing passersby talking about their girlfriends calling him "husband," Yi Han nearly gets into a physical altercation with them, believing they are speaking ill of him.
Episode 16 Recap
Lin Tiannuo arrived at a designated spot to purchase a ticket from a scalper. Yi Han was also there, but was first chased and beaten by someone. After Lin Tiannuo paid ¥3,500 via WeChat, he quickly realized he had been scammed and immediately chased after the scalper. The scalper then tried to trick Yi Han into paying first, but Yi Han was wary and attempted to take a ticket directly from the scalper's bag.
When Lin Tiannuo caught up, Yi Han, wanting to save face, quickly hid. The three engaged in a tiring chase through the streets. Eventually, Lin Tiannuo managed to snatch a ticket from the scalper, only for Yi Han to promptly take it from him and head home. Yi Han returned home delighted with the ticket, imagining Youyou's joyful reaction.
However, he found Youyou on the phone with Lin Tiannuo, who informed her that Mr. Qin Chuan himself would personally escort them to his art exhibition. Youyou's excited screams filled the air, much to Yi Han's chagrin after all his effort to secure a ticket. The next day, Youyou and Lin Tiannuo were at Qin Chuan's art exhibition, discussing inspirations from the art, specifically how it could apply to nail art.
Youyou suddenly spotted Yi Han and rushed after him, leaving her phone and bag behind. Lin Tiannuo answered her ringing phone, which was a call from Kan Di. Kan Di urgently warned Lin Tiannuo not to be photographed with Youyou because Yi Han was embroiled in another scandal. She explained that Sun Qingqing had intentionally fallen on Yi Han at a hotel, and a manipulated video of the incident had been posted online, portraying Yi Han negatively.
Youyou found Yi Han at the exhibition, and Lin Tiannuo brought her forgotten belongings, informing Yi Han about the incident with Sun Qingqing. Yi Han, seemingly unfazed, dismissed the issue and instructed Lin Tiannuo to handle Sun Qingqing’s situation, so he could continue enjoying the art exhibition with Youyou. Yi Han then removed his glasses and mask, openly accompanying Youyou. Meanwhile, Kan Di confronted Sun Qingqing at her hotel, demanding she issue a public statement.
Kan Di stipulated that the statement must not mention Yi Han and threatened to release the full surveillance video, which showed what truly happened, if Sun Qingqing's clarification was unsatisfactory. Youyou found the story of Yi Han and Lin Tiannuo battling over the ticket amusing and laughed heartily. She told Yi Han to reimburse Lin Tiannuo for the ¥3,000 he paid, insisting he do it via WeChat.
At home, they chatted and laughed, seemingly forgetting their recent cold war and effectively reconciling. Soon after, Sun Qingqing publicly announced her relationship online, sharing a photo of her actual boyfriend, to which the public criticized her for trying to gain popularity by associating herself with Yi Han. With this, the negative news surrounding Yi Han was resolved. Lin Tiannuo approached Kan Di, asking for a favor.
He explained that his parents had arranged a blind date for him, including a dinner with both sets of parents that weekend, and he wanted Kan Di to help him disrupt it. Kan Di initially refused to pretend to be his girlfriend, but Lin Tiannuo clarified that he only needed her to appear as someone pursuing him and subtly sabotage the dinner.
He convinced her by stating that he had someone he liked and was very faithful, and that her quick wit and unscripted acting skills made her the perfect person for the task. Kan Di, satisfied with his reasoning, agreed. The next morning, several men abducted Youyou from her shop, causing the manager to panic and attempt to call the police. However, Ye Zi intervened, stating that the police would not handle a domestic dispute.
In the car, Youyou threatened to call the police, only to be startled by Yi Han appearing from the back seat. Yi Han revealed he had orchestrated the "kidnapping" as a surprise, referencing Youyou's recent comment about life being too plain and lacking excitement. He then took her to the French Romance Estate, the place where her mother grew up.
Youyou was angered by his unilateral decision-making, stating her dislike for people who make choices for her under the guise of her own good. Yi Han, however, explained that he would rather she dislike him now than live with regret later. He then presented her with a letter from her mother. After a moment of hesitation, Youyou took and read the letter.
The letter, dated June 23, 2014, expressed Youyou's mother's deep love and daily longing for her since her departure. It explained that she couldn't contact Youyou because she didn't want to selfishly seek forgiveness after causing harm to both Youyou and Lu Ming. Her mother also revealed that she had saved ¥20,000 for Youyou's dowry, with the password being Youyou's birthday.
Reading the letter brought Youyou to tears, and she finally reconciled with her mother and the pain of the past. She asked Yi Han why he hadn't shown her the letter sooner, to which he replied that he knew she was normally fearless but would become vulnerable when facing such an emotional issue, so he had to trick her into coming first.
He offered to leave immediately if she changed her mind, but Youyou simply reached out for him, and they embraced. Elsewhere, Lu Ming held a photo of his parents, recalling how he once doubted his mother's love because she wouldn't buy him sneakers, completely unaware of his sister's existence at the time. Ran Zishu comforted him, urging him to let go of the past and look forward to his reunion with Youyou.
Meanwhile, at the hospital, a doctor told Gao Lang to prepare for the worst regarding his sister, Gao Xiaofei, who was in the Emergency Intensive Care Unit and might not survive the night. Gao Lang desperately called Kan Di, begging her to ask Yi Han to visit his sister, promising to forget all past grievances if he did. Kan Di expressed her willingness to help but regretfully informed him that Yi Han was not currently in Shanghai.
Back at the estate, Yi Han stood by Youyou's side, metaphorically addressing her mother. He confidently spoke of Youyou's growth, assuring her mother that Youyou possessed a superhuman ability to lead a happy life, was talented, and excelled at earning money. He proclaimed their "alliance of the giants" and their destiny for happiness, expressing heartfelt gratitude for Youyou's mother bringing her into the world and asking for their blessing from above.
Youyou, in turn, confirmed that she was not "bought off" by the money. When Yi Han asked why she hadn't questioned him about the intimate photo with Sun Qingqing online, she confidently stated that she knew it was him but also knew he would never truly like Sun Qingqing. He playfully suggested he might have liked Sun Qingqing for her "great body," but Youyou simply reiterated, "In any case, I just know that you wouldn't like her. Just like you knew that I couldn't face my mom." They then shared a passionate kiss.
Episode 17 Recap
After a night of drinking, Ran Zishu awoke at Lu Ming’s place with no memory of the previous evening. Lu Ming recounted how she had gotten tipsy, broken a bottle, and then tearfully revealed her painful past. She confessed that her father only ever gave her money, while her mother was consumed by her beauty regimen and mahjong, leaving Ran Zishu feeling unloved by both.
This deep-seated desire for affection led her to hope for a loving partner like Lu Ming, but she then expressed doubts about his love for her, prompting more tears until she eventually fell asleep on the sofa. Fearing that her drunken outburst would cause Lu Ming to deduct points from their relationship’s carefully constructed point system, Ran Zishu was relieved and then overjoyed when he not only chose not to deduct any points but actually added points.
He explained that experiencing each other’s emotional lows and witnessing vulnerabilities should be rewarded. He then presented her with breakfast, which she happily ate after making him promise he wouldn’t deduct any points. Meanwhile, Lin Tiannuo was enduring a blind date arranged by his parents with a woman named Xue’er and her mother, Auntie Zhao. Lin’s mother eagerly tried to steer the conversation towards getting Xue’er a role in Lin Tiannuo’s film.
Just then, Kan Di arrived, whom Lin Tiannuo introduced as his film’s investor. Kan Di smoothly explained that she had been stood up by business partners for a dinner at the same restaurant, which led her to join their table. Auntie Zhao, however, immediately sensed Kan Di’s poise and beauty as a threat.
During the meal, Kan Di deftly parried Auntie Zhao’s attempts to push Xue’er into the film industry by offering Xue’er advice on film studies, subtly undermining the notion of a walk-on role. Later, when Auntie Zhao insisted that Lin Tiannuo drive Xue’er home, Kan Di intervened, offering her own chauffeur, which greatly offended Auntie Zhao. Feeling slighted, Auntie Zhao and Xue’er abruptly left.
Lin Tiannuo’s father, unexpectedly, was rather pleased with Kan Di’s frank and spirited nature, though Lin Tiannuo’s mother suspected that he and Kan Di had conspired to ruin the blind date, believing Lin Tiannuo still held feelings for Youyou. After the others left, Lin Tiannuo and Kan Di discussed the evening. Kan Di revealed that she hadn't seen her parents in many years, and her mother had recently called, expressing anger and viewing her divorce as a major failure.
Lin Tiannuo reassured her that she was far from a failure. Kan Di then playfully suggested that Lin Tiannuo should stop liking Youyou, who was genuinely happy with Yi Han, and instead consider liking her. Youyou, wanting to express her gratitude to Yi Han for their recent trip, decided to treat him to dinner. After some effort, she managed to get his assistant, Zhang Dawei, to tell her about Yi Han’s favorite restaurant.
On the way there, Youyou wondered what Yi Han would like to eat, while he teased her about not knowing her husband’s preferences. She later surprised him by correctly naming his favorite restaurant at Yabao Road, No. 888, explaining she deduced it because the chef he hired for her colleagues’ visit was from that very establishment. Yi Han was impressed, but also mentioned the place was expensive.
He shared his thoughts on marriage, believing that a couple should elevate each other, and expressed concern that his presence might have diminished her quality of life, leading to a potential divorce. He assured her that today, she shouldn't worry about expenses and should eat whatever she liked. At the restaurant, Youyou was taken aback by a ¥3,000 combo set, which was much higher than the ¥300 per person she had initially thought.
Noticing her hesitation, Yi Han quickly took the menu, suggesting they order individual dishes, claiming he didn’t like some in the set and it would be cheaper. He ordered several affordable dishes and, instead of alcohol, asked for water, explaining he was driving and that sugary drinks were unhealthy. Youyou, grateful for his thoughtfulness, offered to pay, surprised when the bill came to just over ¥1,000.
Yi Han expressed his appreciation for her financial awareness and promised to take her there again if possible. They enjoyed their meal, their reconciliation evident in their easy banter. Following the eventful blind date, Lin Tiannuo and Kan Di’s friendship deepened as they shared more about their lives. One evening, while they were having dinner, Kan Di’s ex-husband, Gao Yaowen, appeared. Kan Di politely told him she was dining with a friend and asked him not to disturb them.
Gao Yaowen, though seemingly leaving, later cornered her in the restroom, pleading for a second chance, claiming he couldn't forget her. Lin Tiannuo quickly arrived, intervened, and firmly took Kan Di’s hand. He declared himself her current boyfriend, asserting that Gao Yaowen was the outsider, and led Kan Di away. As Lin Tiannuo drove her home, Gao Yaowen continued to follow them persistently.
Realizing Gao Yaowen wouldn’t give up easily, Kan Di decided to invite Lin Tiannuo into her apartment, hoping his presence would deter her ex-husband. Inside, Lin Tiannuo inquired why she had married such an “obstinate” man. Kan Di explained that it was due to love at the time, acknowledging that love isn’t eternal, but rather a collection of "eternal moments." Lin Tiannuo then remarked that highly intelligent women often find it challenging to achieve happiness.
Kan Di responded that she wasn't interested in being a happy woman; her ambition was to be a successful one, a statement that further captivated Lin Tiannuo. The next morning, Kan Di awoke to find her sleepwear scattered on the floor and Lin Tiannuo dressing in front of her, leaving her utterly bewildered. Sun Qingqing, her reputation in tatters, found herself working as a dish washer in a restaurant kitchen. She was constantly criticized for her slow and clumsy work.
Feeling resentful and unwilling to accept her miserable fate, she was once again approached by Gao Lang. Ran Zishu, meticulously calculating her points on her phone, asked Lu Ming when she could officially "assume her position" as his girlfriend. Her current score, a culmination of various interactions, stood at 295 points. She playfully inquired about the total points needed and if certain milestones, like kissing, would unlock special features, noting that he hadn't clearly explained the rules.
Lu Ming, with a smile, asked her when she was ever "not" in that position, implying she had already succeeded long ago. Overjoyed by this confirmation, Ran Zishu celebrated, prompting Lu Ming to jokingly ask if they should discuss a "scoring to be laid-off" system.
Episode 18 Recap
Han Di and Lin Tiannuo woke up, with Lin Tiannuo asking Han Di to turn around so he could change. Both mentioned having busy work schedules. Lin Tiannuo said he would take a shower first and told Han Di to call him if "that man," presumably Gao Yaowen, bothered her again. After Lin Tiannuo left, Han Di retreated to the changing room.
She reflected on her desire for happiness and love, questioning the pursuit of love when it often leads to disappointment, unlike hard work which guarantees results. She remembered Lin Tiannuo's tender words from the previous night, how he expressed concern and said her words pained his heart. She admitted that while she had heard such sweet nothings before, hearing them from him unexpectedly brought her to the verge of tears.
Youyou happily shared with her shop manager that she had successfully passed the preliminary round of the International Nail Art Contest and was now preparing for the first round. She explained the rules for the first round, which involved uploading her art to the competition website for online public voting.
Inspired by a past magazine cover shoot with Yi Han, she conceived a new design featuring colored shells as an inlay setting, new line drawing styles, and symbols of a groom's necktie and a bride's crown, meant to represent two hearts joining. The manager fully supported her, approving her plan to offer her competition pieces as new store products with a 20% discount.
The manager even suggested that Yi Han promote her work, but Youyou initially hesitated, feeling it would be unfair to other contestants. The manager dismissed her concerns, urging her to leverage her advantages. Later, Youyou directly asked Yi Han to promote her nail art on his Weibo. Yi Han expressed some difficulty, explaining that his agency managed his account.
Youyou passionately articulated her professional dreams, comparing her ambition in nail art to his pursuit of Grammy or Oscar awards, emphasizing the artistic value and personal connection in her work. Yi Han promised to discuss it with Han Di. After their conversation, Youyou called Ran Zishu, who, despite admitting to having some fake followers, offered to promote Youyou's work on her own Weibo, dismissing Yi Han's agency's excuse.
Shortly after, Youyou discovered her own Weibo post about the contest had accumulated over 2,000 negative comments, filled with hateful and disparaging remarks about her nail art. Yi Han found Youyou distraught in the restroom. Discovering the barrage of hateful comments on her Weibo, which called her nail art "ugly" and an "embarrassment," he immediately called his assistant, Dawei, to investigate. Dawei reported that the negative comments were computer-generated, not from real people, and the perpetrator was unknown.
Yi Han rejected the idea of buying fake fans, insisting on a more principled approach. He instructed Dawei to create multiple small accounts and report all the malicious posts, stating that even if they couldn't eliminate all, a significant reduction would be considered a victory. When Dawei questioned Yi Han's unusual concern for Youyou's competition, Yi Han firmly stated that while his interest in the competition was his own business, he would not tolerate anyone bullying his wife online.
Thanks to Yi Han's swift actions and the support of his fans, the wave of negative comments against Youyou subsided. He personally posted on Weibo, sharing "little episodes between us as a couple" and promoting Youyou's nail art. This generated a flood of positive comments and attracted numerous customers to her salon, eager for her popular tie design. Youyou's spirits were lifted. She called Yi Han, who informed her that Han Di had approved his Weibo post.
They made plans for dinner at 10 PM after work. As Youyou finished up a drawing alone in the now-empty salon, unaware, Sun Qingqing watched her from outside the door, confirming that she was indeed behind the malicious online attacks. Sun Qingqing then made a phone call to check on her hired online ghostwriters. At a crew birthday celebration for Lisa, Yi Han's assistant, Dawei, presented Yi Han with a new contract for "Whose Son Are You?"
, which Dawei had secured. Dawei and Yi Han briefly discussed the anti-campaign for Youyou, with Dawei crediting Han Di for most of the effort. As Han Di joined Yi Han for a toast with the crew, Lin Tiannuo arrived. Seeing him, Han Di became visibly flustered, quickly put down her glass, told Yi Han she needed to leave, and made a hasty exit. Yi Han and Dawei were perplexed by her unusual behavior.
Lin Tiannuo then proceeded to pick up the very glass Han Di had just used and toasted Lisa, much to Yi Han’s visible surprise. Lin Tiannuo tried repeatedly to call Han Di, but she ignored his calls. He then left her a lengthy voice message. He explained that despite them returning to her home and drinking that night, nothing actually happened, so she shouldn't feel awkward around him.
He clarified that his primary reason for calling was to retrieve a very important watch he believed she had taken after they were drunk. He had refrained from asking in person because she had been hiding, but now hoped she could help him find it. He then proposed that they make their "fake relationship" real and start dating. Han Di, however, only listened to a portion of the message.
She grew frustrated with his persistence, believing he was clinging to her, and decided she didn't have time to debate with him, deleting the message before hearing about the watch or his proposal. Yi Han's suspicions about Lin Tiannuo grew after witnessing him use Han Di's glass. He shared this with Youyou, who initially dismissed it as normal among close acquaintances.
However, when Yi Han hypothetically asked her reaction to him drinking from another woman's glass, she vehemently opposed it, calling it an "indirect kiss" and highlighting her double standards. On set, Yi Han intently observed Lin Tiannuo. His assistant, Ran Zishu, also noticed Lin Tiannuo's recent unusual changes – daily outfit changes and a cologne scent – concluding he must be in love.
When Ran Zishu showed Yi Han a video she secretly took of Lin Tiannuo talking on the phone, appearing to say "Youyou," Yi Han's jealousy intensified, and he believed Lin Tiannuo's character was flawed. He expressed to Dawei his intent to terminate his partnership with Lin Tiannuo, but Dawei teased him about being jealous. Meanwhile, Lin Tiannuo arrived at Youyou's home to cook for her, as she had injured her hand.
He asked her to film a video for her WeChat Moments. Youyou, sensing his ulterior motives, initially hesitated, fearing Yi Han's reaction. She correctly deduced that Lin Tiannuo wanted to show the video to "a certain woman." Just as Yi Han called Lin Tiannuo to discuss ending their collaboration, Lin Tiannuo intentionally made Youyou answer his phone. Yi Han was enraged to hear Youyou's voice. Youyou, noticing Lin Tiannuo's suppressed smile, directly confronted him about using her.
Lin Tiannuo openly admitted his "ulterior motives," explaining his goal was to make Han Di jealous, hoping that "occasional jealousy will make the bond better." He revealed Han Di was his true target, stating she didn't care about him, so he had to "work for the enemy to get the job done." He then playfully attempted to feed Youyou. Yi Han, furious, announced on the phone that he was going home.
Meanwhile, Gao Lang confronted Sun Qingqing for orchestrating the online attack against Youyou. Sun Qingqing expressed her impatience, detailing her fallen status from an actress and nail artist to a restaurant waitress, her hands ruined by menial labor, and her desire for immediate revenge against Yi Han and Youyou. She dismissed Gao Lang's commitment, assuming his grudge against Yi Han was minor. Gao Lang, however, exploded in anger, revealing a much deeper, darker motive: Yi Han "killed his sister," explaining his intense hatred and desire for revenge.
Episode 19 Recap
Yi Han, infuriated by Lin Tiannuo's character, called Kan Di and declared his refusal to work on "The Rest of My Life" with Lin Tiannuo, stating he would join a new film set directly the next day. Youyou, witnessing Yi Han's anger, realized that Lin Tiannuo's scheme was unfolding as planned. Yi Han then confronted Youyou about Lin Tiannuo's presence at their home earlier.
Youyou clarified that Lin Tiannuo had invited himself, explaining that if she had initiated a meeting, she would have chosen an outdoor location. Yi Han found her reasoning sound, reinforcing his conviction about Lin Tiannuo's problematic nature. Shortly after, Kan Di called Lin Tiannuo, accusing him of breaking his promise not to interfere with Yi Han and Youyou's relationship. Lin Tiannuo denied any romantic interest in Youyou, claiming his visit was solely for work.
To appease Kan Di, he proposed that he would report all his future interactions with Youyou to her. Kan Di agreed, believing this would help manage the situation, unaware she was playing into Lin Tiannuo's hands to create more opportunities for him to contact her. Later, Youyou informed Yi Han that Lin Tiannuo was actually pursuing Kan Di.
Yi Han scoffed at the idea, declaring it impossible for Lin Tiannuo to succeed with someone he himself couldn't win over, even joking about his preference for "skinny ones." Youyou, however, listed Lin Tiannuo's many virtues, believing he had a strong chance. Still skeptical of Lin Tiannuo's integrity, Yi Han bet Youyou one thousand yuan that Kan Di would not end up with him.
Following this, Yi Han called Kan Di to retract his impulsive decision to quit the project, assuring her he would return to work on time. He subtly probed her feelings about Lin Tiannuo, to which Kan Di expressed a strong negative opinion, describing him as a "rascal" whose hidden intentions were unsettling. She also underscored the importance of the cooperation opportunity, urging Yi Han not to abandon it.
Lin Tiannuo then employed another tactic, calling Kan Di and using a fabricated dinner meeting with Youyou three days later as an excuse. Kan Di, worried about Lin Tiannuo potentially disrupting Yi Han and Youyou's relationship, offered to attend the dinner in Youyou's place and relay any work-related messages.
Lin Tiannuo, pleased his scheme was working, promptly informed Youyou that Kan Di had agreed to a "date" with him, leading Youyou to win the bet, and Yi Han begrudgingly transferred the one thousand yuan. Youyou's nail art design successfully passed the preliminary round of the International Nail Art Contest, and she began preparing for the semi-finals, receiving full support and encouragement from her salon manager and colleagues.
During this time, Youyou's colleague, Ye Zi, excitedly shared that she had a new boyfriend she met at a bar just the previous weekend. She invited Youyou to a dinner where her boyfriend wanted to meet her friends, asking Youyou to come along and help assess him. Youyou, though surprised by the rapid development of the relationship, happily agreed. Meanwhile, Yi Han was diligently practicing an important scene for an upcoming shoot, highlighting his commitment to his work.
Youyou found inspiration for her final nail art piece by asking Yi Han what was more brilliant than diamonds. When he replied, "Our love," a new design concept clicked for her. She showed Yi Han her completed sample nail, explaining how his words inspired her to use precious materials, grinding opal gemstones into powder and blending them with nail polish to create a "liquid gem" effect reminiscent of ancient Chinese paintings and the moving sea.
She also casually mentioned that the opal gemstones were a gift from a bracelet Lin Tiannuo had given her. Yi Han praised her work enthusiastically, jokingly claiming he should be a judge for the competition and asking for a reward for his inspiration. Youyou offered to treat him to takeout supper from his favorite place, Nio Western Restaurant.
Yi Han, however, dismissed Nio as unimpressive and too expensive, telling her he would be home after one more scene and to prepare a night snack for him. However, when Youyou later went to Nio to pick up his favored takeout, she unexpectedly spotted Yi Han and his assistant happily dining there. He had clearly lied about still being at work.
Unbeknownst to Youyou, Yi Han had resorted to these secret meals because, when Youyou previously treated him, he felt compelled to order only inexpensive, filling dishes to align with her thrifty habits, making him unable to truly enjoy his food. To maintain his image and satisfy his appetite, he had been secretly eating out with his assistant. After filming wrapped, Yi Han, still suspicious of Lin Tiannuo, prioritised following him after filming, even putting aside acting with colleagues.
He watched Lin Tiannuo get into Kan Di's assistant's car and was further intrigued when the assistant drove Lin Tiannuo to a restaurant. It turned out Kan Di had anticipated Lin Tiannuo's manipulative tactics and had sent her assistant to dine with him instead, while she herself avoided the meeting. Lin Tiannuo, realizing he had been tricked, grew angry and left the restaurant.
Yi Han, having witnessed the entire charade, had his assistant record the scene to prove to Youyou that Lin Tiannuo's "date" with Kan Di was a failure. Later, Kan Di arranged to meet Youyou, intending to relay any messages from Lin Tiannuo, as per her agreement. However, Lin Tiannuo called Kan Di, and Youyou, understanding his manipulative game, urged Kan Di to answer. Kan Di initially hesitated but, not wanting Youyou to answer for her, reluctantly picked up.
On the phone, Lin Tiannuo criticized Kan Di for not showing up for their meal, implying it was a breach of their "gentlemen's agreement" and threatened to renege on his previous promise not to interfere with Yi Han and Youyou. Pressured, Kan Di agreed to meet him. When they met, Lin Tiannuo surprised Kan Di by stating that he was pursuing her, not Youyou. Kan Di looked astonished, and Lin Tiannuo realized she had deleted his previous voice message.
He then replayed the message, clarifying his intentions and reassuring her that nothing had happened between them when they had previously shared drinks at her place, and she should not feel awkward. Meanwhile, Lu Ming's summer vacation was coming to an end, and Lin Tiannuo noticed his young friend's pensive mood. Understanding Lu Ming's reluctance to leave Zishu, Lin Tiannuo encouraged him to express his feelings boldly, emphasizing that grand gestures weren't necessary, only giving her what she hoped for.
Inspired, Lu Ming met Zishu and presented her with various marshmallow candies, feeding her some. After playfully teasing her with a cheese-flavored one, which Zishu disliked, he gently kissed her, signifying his affection. Upon Yi Han's return home, Youyou had prepared a table laden with supper, including wontons, glutinous rice balls, and steamed dumplings. Although she had initially intended to playfully confront him about his secret dinner, having seen him earlier, she unexpectedly broke down in tears.
Youyou explained that she was removing his daily spending limit, no longer wishing to restrict him, and expressed her hope that he would stop hiding things from her, even something as simple as going out to eat. Yi Han, troubled by her tears and unusual behavior, had a restless night. The next day, he asked his assistant why girls cry. His assistant, considering Youyou's recent actions, broadly speculated that she might be pregnant.
Episode 20 Recap
Youyou arrived at the studio, planning to put the finishing touches on her sample nails before sending them for the competition. She asked Ye Zi to call for express delivery, emphasizing the "priceless treasure" status of her work and requesting insurance for the package. However, upon entering the studio, Youyou discovered her sample nails had been destroyed. Ye Zi, after checking the surveillance video, realized her new boyfriend, Xiao Rui, was responsible but didn't reveal this to Youyou.
Instead, she urged Youyou to gather new materials while she cleaned up the mess. Ye Zi then called Xiao Rui, who eventually admitted to accidentally breaking a glass box and apologized, fearing her anger. Ye Zi then deleted the surveillance footage to protect him. Meanwhile, Youyou struggled to recreate her design because the new opal gemstones weren't of the same quality as the previous ones, which had come from a valuable bracelet given to her by Lin Tiannuo.
She worried about the high cost of acquiring an identical bracelet. Yi Han, recalling Youyou's recent emotional outbursts, suspected she might be pregnant after reading that early pregnancy can cause mood fluctuations and "sobbing without cause or reason." Excited about the possibility of becoming a father, he secretly instructed his assistant to buy folic acid and an anti-radiation maternity dress.
Though his assistant suggested a hospital check-up, Yi Han hesitated, worried Youyou might not want the child and wanting time to prepare for a discussion. Elsewhere, Lin Tiannuo attempted to curry favor with Yi Han, believing it would help him pursue Kan Di. Yi Han found Lin Tiannuo rather irritating, but observed that he and Kan Di seemed to get along unexpectedly well. Youyou had considered using her late mother's money to buy a replacement bracelet.
However, Yi Han, tipped off by Ye Zi about Youyou's distress, surprised her with an identical bracelet. Youyou became emotional, and Yi Han comforted her, telling her not to cry as it could affect her health, reminding her that she was not alone and had a home and him now. Youyou successfully submitted her sample nails before the final deadline. Relieved, Ye Zi invited Youyou to dinner the following week, explaining it was an apology from her boyfriend.
Youyou, preoccupied with the competition invitation, accepted. Yi Han tried to reassure her about receiving the invitation, telling her to maintain a positive mood and even playfully suggesting a "Youyou Cup" competition at home if the official invitation didn't arrive. Youyou later received a phone call which she mistakenly believed was from the competition committee but turned out to be from Ye Zi, reminding her about the dinner. Youyou, still hoping for her invitation, reluctantly agreed to attend the dinner.
Yi Han accompanied Youyou to dinner with Ye Zi and Xiao Rui. Youyou stepped out to answer what she thought was an express delivery call. While she was away, Xiao Rui falsely informed Yi Han that the grand prize for the International Nail Art Contest was three years of training at École de Communication Visuelle in France.
He implied Youyou had lied to Ye Zi about the prize being a tour of over 100 nail salons and suggested Youyou was eager to leave for France. Xiao Rui encouraged Yi Han to focus on starting a family instead. Despite Ye Zi's attempts to silence him, Xiao Rui persisted. Yi Han seemed to take a neutral stance, stating it was Youyou's choice.
Later, caught in a heavy rain shower, Youyou expressed her frustration over the "scam call" and her perceived failure in the competition, lamenting the wasted expensive bracelet. Yi Han reassured her, praising her work and expressing his respect. Youyou corrected him, explaining the prize was an opportunity to visit 28 countries, 54 cities, and 106 top nail salons to showcase Chinese art, not a multi-year study program. She then childishly asked Yi Han to choose between her and her career.
Yi Han dismissed her question as immature and abruptly left for a supposed film set appointment. Youyou, upset by his dismissive response, chased after him in the rain, complaining about his "pointless questions." Shortly after, Yi Han received an express package. Back at home, Yi Han mistook the package's contents for an invitation to a brand exhibit and, finding it too large for the wastebasket, tore it up.
He then realized it was Youyou's invitation to the International Nail Art Contest. Recalling Xiao Rui's earlier claims about Youyou's potential three-year absence in France and his own reluctance for her to leave, Yi Han hesitated to repair the damaged invitation. Soon after, Youyou slipped and injured her arm while bathing. Yi Han quickly took her to the hospital, deciding not to mention the competition invitation, rationalizing that she couldn't compete with an injured arm anyway.
A week later, Youyou watched the International Nail Art Contest finals online, hoping to learn from the world's top artists. To her astonishment, the host displayed her work, praising its exceptional quality and expressing regret that the talented Chinese artist was not present despite their numerous attempts to contact her. Youyou was stunned, realizing her work had qualified. She immediately suspected the invitation might have been sent to her old home and rushed there, but found no trace of it.
Yi Han later found her sitting sadly at the old house, distressed by her mother's absence and the impending demolition of the property. He carried her home. That evening, while Yi Han prepared a rainbow-colored bubble bath for Youyou, clarifying that the expensive bath bombs were promotional gifts, Youyou discreetly went to the security room. She reviewed the surveillance footage from the previous week, specifically the Monday afternoon when her express mail was delivered.
The video showed a floor keeper handing an envelope to Yi Han, who then disposed of it. Youyou confronted Yi Han in the bathroom, demanding to know why he had thrown away her invitation. Yi Han explained that he had mistakenly believed the English invitation was for a brand exhibit he had previously attended. He tore it up because it wouldn't fit in the wastebasket and only realized his error later, confessing he failed to reassemble it.
He then admitted to an "ulterior motive," explaining that he thought Youyou was pregnant and, after hearing Xiao Rui's claims about a three-year study program in France, did not want her to leave. Youyou accused him of lying and intentionally discarding it.
She was deeply hurt that he hadn't asked her about her supposed pregnancy or verified the prize details, and that he had hidden such important news from her, acting like a "child who never grows up" who expected her forgiveness despite his disregard for her feelings. Overwhelmed with disappointment and anger, Youyou declared she didn't want to see Yi Han for the time being and left their home.
Episode 21 Recap
Youyou, still upset, returned to her old rental apartment. Her landlady, Auntie Wu, encouraged her not to rush into returning the apartment, emphasizing that it's important to have a personal space when couples bicker. Youyou settled on renting the apartment for ¥3,000 a month, paying three months upfront with a one-month security deposit. Despite her emotional state, Youyou continued to work normally at her nail salon.
At the salon, she showcased an exclusive traditional nail art style, explaining its meticulous, elaborate-style painting technique and the health benefits of their products, which were durable and easy to remove. Meanwhile, Yi Han was anxious about Youyou. He called someone to check on her, and the person reported that Youyou seemed to be working and eating as usual, showing no abnormalities, perhaps aware she was being monitored.
Yi Han then encountered Lu Ming, Youyou's younger brother, who was furious, accusing Yi Han of bullying his sister. Lu Ming furiously declared that Yi Han would never see his sister again, but Yi Han pleaded with him to help bring Youyou back. When Lu Ming asked why Youyou hadn't answered his calls or stayed home for days, Yi Han admitted he didn't know where she was, though her nail shop confirmed she was working.
Yi Han then confessed that he had withheld Youyou's competition invitation, but insisted he never meant to hurt her. Lu Ming, however, emphasized that his sister's feelings were what truly mattered. Ran Zishu, Youyou's best friend, eventually contacted Youyou, and she and Lu Ming visited Youyou at her rental apartment. Youyou, despite being with her supportive friends, remained conflicted.
She expressed that while she understood Yi Han's perspective on her potential three-year study in France, she was hurt that he believed others over her. Ran Zishu acknowledged Yi Han's wrongdoing but urged Youyou not to hold a grudge since the contest was over. Youyou felt that Ran Zishu, much like Yi Han, couldn't fully grasp her situation, as they both had lived privileged lives without struggle.
She spoke passionately about her profession as a nail artist, explaining her dream of elevating Chinese nail art to be respected globally, a dream Yi Han had once acknowledged. The irony, she lamented, was that Yi Han was the one who destroyed that dream. Youyou confessed her exhaustion from constantly trying to resolve their differences, believing they were from two different worlds. She felt their marriage was too rushed and that its significance was overwhelming.
Ran Zishu found Youyou's views a bit extreme, suggesting solutions. Lu Ming understood Youyou's pressure in the relationship. Having seen the difficulties between Yi Han and Youyou, Lu Ming and Ran Zishu cherished each other even more, promising to become better for one another. Youyou believed her own relentless efforts to better herself were partly due to Yi Han. Both friends hoped Youyou and Yi Han could overcome their crisis.
After her friends left, Youyou began drafting a divorce agreement, searching for templates online. The next morning, Youyou was woken by movers entering her apartment. They addressed her as "Mrs. Yi" and began moving in furniture, explaining that her husband, Mr. Yi, had ordered them because he knew she started work at ten.
Youyou, enraged by Yi Han's unsolicited arrangements, tried to refuse the delivery, but the movers insisted on completing the job, offering to leave the door open while she was at work. Youyou called Yi Han, demanding to know how he found her and what he wanted. He explained he had no ill intentions, merely wanted to ensure she had basic necessities like a fridge and a bed, knowing she wouldn't forgive him quickly.
He told her to live comfortably and he would pick her up when her anger subsided. Youyou thanked him for his efforts but then expressed her belief that they were not suitable for each other. She proposed an amicable farewell, suggesting they keep the divorce private for his public image, and informed him she would sign the agreement and send it to him, along with the furniture he bought.
Yi Han was stunned and furious, questioning if she was insane for wanting a divorce and if buying furniture was a mistake. Youyou then revealed her true underlying motivation for striving for success: her deep-seated low self-esteem that erupted after falling for his bright and brilliant persona. She desperately wanted to be worthy of him, to stand confidently by his side. However, despite their efforts, their relationship always seemed to go against their hopes.
She told him she was exhausted and wanted to remember their time as a beautiful memory, then truly let each other go. Yi Han vehemently refused to be just friends and insisted he would come to talk face-to-face, but Youyou disconnected the call. Devastated, Yi Han rushed to Youyou's apartment, calling her name, but Auntie Wu informed him Youyou had left. He then went to her nail salon, only to find she had taken time off.
Unable to find her, and with the film crew waiting for him, he reluctantly returned to work. Later, his assistant, Dawei, handed him an envelope from Youyou containing the divorce agreement. Yi Han, heartbroken, tore it up. Kan Di wanted to comfort him, but Lin Tiannuo intervened, wisely suggesting that human emotions are not always shareable and it was better for Yi Han to process his feelings alone.
Yi Han then went to a bar and drank himself into a stupor, wishing it all a dream. He awoke the next morning in an unfamiliar room, his clothes scattered. Sun Qingqing appeared, greeting him and taunting him about their "hard labor" from the night before. She then showed him compromising photos on her phone. Yi Han furiously smashed her phone, but Sun Qingqing smirked, revealing she had already made copies and intended to make his life a living hell.
She cryptically reminded him that "failure is the mother of success," implying this was part of a larger plan. Kan Di, informed of the situation, angrily berated Yi Han for being repeatedly manipulated. Despite her harsh words, she had already contacted friendly media outlets, who reported no immediate news of the photos. She discussed options with Yi Han: either claim the photos were photoshopped or pursue a lengthy lawsuit against Sun Qingqing. Yi Han chose the latter.
However, Dawei then called Kan Di, reporting that the photos had already been released on a WeChat official account named "Gao Lang Says," an independent account operated by a former website employee. Gao Lang was unreachable. Kan Di immediately arranged an emergency teleconference with their legal and public relations teams as public outrage mounted online over Yi Han's alleged misconduct, including accusations of him sleeping with an actor from the same film.
Episode 22 Recap
Pei Youyou stepped out, only to be met with strange looks and even strangers offering condolences about a "scumbag." Confused, she received a phone call from Han Di, who was urgently looking for Yi Han. Youyou explained she hadn't seen him in days and wouldn't even if he sought her out. Han Di then informed her that Yi Han was in deep trouble, leading Youyou to check the news online where she saw the shocking reports.
Soon after, Sun Qingqing released an online statement. She claimed the intimate photos circulating were of her and Yi Han, asserting their illicit affair began when Yi Han was already with Pei Youyou, which she described as a mere contract relationship. Sun Qingqing alleged that Yi Han had told her he loved her at first sight and promised to announce her as his true girlfriend once his contract with Pei Youyou ended.
In the statement, Sun Qingqing portrayed Yi Han as a complete scumbag, accusing him of cheating on her and interfering in Han Di's marriage, which resulted in Han Di's divorce. She further stated that when she tried to end their relationship, Yi Han refused and threatened to expose their private photos if she left him. Adding to the scandal, Han Di's ex-husband, Gao Wenyao, still bitter from a previous failed reconciliation attempt, seized the opportunity to retaliate.
He gave a media interview, stating that Yi Han's agent, Han Di, had an affair during their marriage, further fueling public outrage against Yi Han. Han Di and her team desperately searched for Yi Han but could not locate him, as he was not answering calls or messages. She felt that Youyou might be the only person who could find him.
Meanwhile, several major advertising partners, including Koko, called Han Di to announce their decision to terminate contracts with Yi Han. Overwhelmed by the crisis, Han Di stepped out for air, where Lin Tiannuo found her. He offered his support, telling her he wasn't disappointed and felt he was getting closer to her true self. Han Di, visibly distraught, leaned on him, admitting she desperately needed someone to rely on.
Despite the escalating crisis, Youyou assured Han Di she would not abandon Yi Han. She reiterated her earlier promise that even if they divorced, she would never damage his public image and would cooperate fully. Youyou had already decided to help him navigate this difficult period and was even planning to use her old family home and her mother's inheritance to cover his potential debts. Yi Han, who had not been hiding, met with Attorney Liu.
He was less concerned about his own situation and more worried about the impact on Pei Youyou. Attorney Liu informed him that according to marriage law, any debts incurred during the marriage would be considered a joint obligation for both parties. Realizing the gravity of the situation, Yi Han asked what would happen if they divorced, and Attorney Liu advised him to do it quickly to protect Youyou from his financial liabilities.
Upon returning home, Yi Han found Youyou waiting for him. Though pleased to see her, he hardened his heart, telling her to "Get out!" and claiming they were already divorced, with the signed divorce agreement to be sent to her later. Youyou insisted she didn't want a divorce, believing he was only saying these things because he was angry.
Yi Han, trying to push her away, coldly claimed he had wanted a divorce for a long time and no longer loved her, even disparaging her compared to other women, saying he only liked her for a while and now he found other women more attractive. Youyou, seeing through his harsh words, calmly stated she knew he was trying to provoke her but understood he was in emotional turmoil and wouldn't be angry, even offering to draw him a bath.
Undeterred, Yi Han physically pulled her out of the house, leaving her on the street, distraught and yelling his name, asking why he had changed the lock's password. Later, Yi Han's assistant brought him an envelope containing Youyou's old house property certificate and a bank card, which Youyou had returned, realizing she intended them for his use. He called Youyou, asking her to come to the balcony.
He handed her the property certificate and bank card, stating they were her mother's legacy and he could not take them, emphasizing that he had already signed the divorce agreement. Youyou refused the items, reminding him that as married individuals, those were joint assets and he would need the money for the financial penalties. Yi Han insisted they were divorced and he didn't need her help.
Youyou, again seeing his true intent, accused him of wanting a divorce to protect her from his immense debts. She declared she would not divorce him and would tear up the agreement. Yi Han, in a final attempt to sever ties, asked if she didn't love money, then cruelly offered her a large sum as post-divorce compensation, telling her to take the money and stop bothering him for a "clean break up."
Youyou vehemently denied loving money, professing her love for him and her willingness to stay by his side, even if it meant repaying debts for the rest of their lives. Yi Han, calling her words "funny," drove away, leaving Youyou running barefoot after his car, shouting her love and pleading for him to stop, as he watched her disappear in his rearview mirror. When Yi Han arrived at the film set, he was immediately swarmed by reporters.
Lin Tiannuo intervened, calling for silence and expressing his full belief in Yi Han's character, asserting that external noise would not affect the filming of "Remaining Life." He stated that the cast and crew were a family and should trust each other, effectively deflecting the media and allowing Yi Han to proceed to the set. Meanwhile, Youyou was grappling with her heartbreak when Ye Zi arrived, distraught.
Ye Zi's boyfriend, Xiao Rui, had disappeared, and she had discovered his supposed home was actually just a hostel. Initially concerned Xiao Rui might have scammed Ye Zi financially or otherwise, Youyou was relieved to learn he hadn't taken any money or exploited her. Out of concern for his safety, they reported him to the police, who revealed Xiao Rui was indeed a fraud with fake identification and address.
Back home, Ye Zi tearfully confessed more: it was Xiao Rui who had told Yi Han about Youyou's plan to study in France for three years after the nail art competition, which had provoked Yi Han to secretly discard Youyou's invitation to the final round. Ye Zi also admitted Xiao Rui was the culprit behind the destruction of Youyou's nail art samples at her office. Youyou immediately realized Xiao Rui had been deliberately targeting her all along.
Episode 23 Recap
When Yi Han questioned how investors could continue to support him unconditionally, Lin Tiannuo calmly informed him that they had withdrawn their funds. Concerned about the film crew, Yi Han suggested Lin Tiannuo replace him to prevent his personal issues from affecting "Remaining Life." However, Lin Tiannuo asserted that Yi Han was indispensable for the role of Shen Bing, and his decision was based purely on professional judgment, not personal ties.
With the last of the funds, the crew could only film for one more day, which was Yi Han's final scene. The movie was prematurely wrapped, leaving Yi Han filled with deep self-reproach. Meanwhile, Youyou visited Kan Di, who revealed that the police had identified Gao Lang as the mastermind behind Youyou's birthday kidnapping. They realized he was also orchestrating the current photo scandal.
Discussing Yezi's ex-boyfriend, Xiao Rui, Youyou and Kan Di realized that Sun Qingqing lacked the cunning to manipulate people in such a complex manner, leading them to believe Gao Lang was behind everything. Youyou was determined to find evidence to prove Yi Han's innocence, no matter the difficulty, beginning with suing Gao Lang for kidnapping and seeking proof against Sun Qingqing for slander. Yi Han's situation grew dire.
His agency planned to terminate his contract but offered Kan Di lucrative terms to stay and train new talent. Kan Di, however, refused, declaring her unwavering loyalty to Yi Han. Hearing of Kan Di's predicament from his assistant, Dawei, Yi Han felt immense guilt. To settle his debts, Yi Han listed his house for sale. As he packed his belongings alone, he found Youyou's items, which brought back painful memories of their playful moments together.
Unable to bear staying in the empty house, he called Dawei, asking him to come early the next morning to help with the packing, as he would spend the night at a hotel. Using their connections, Youyou and Kan Di tracked Xiao Rui, whose real name was Liu Xiao, to Nuo Wa bar. Coincidentally, Lin Tiannuo was also there, disheartened by the premature halt of "Remaining Life." Seeing Kan Di, he quickly joined their efforts to apprehend Liu Xiao.
Liu Xiao attempted to flee, with Youyou in close pursuit. Kan Di twisted her ankle while chasing, and Lin Tiannuo stayed behind to care for her, seizing the opportunity to be near her. Youyou eventually caught up to Liu Xiao. Just as he tried to resist, Yi Han appeared, causing Liu Xiao to confess that Gao Lang had instructed him to approach Yezi, destroy Youyou's nail art samples, and instigate conflict between Yi Han and Youyou at a dinner.
Inspired by Youyou's unwavering support, Yi Han resolved to take action. He initiated a live broadcast to clarify the recent events. He categorically dismissed Sun Qingqing's accusations as "baseless rubbish" and an insult to his standards of beauty and taste.
He announced his intention to sue Sun Qingqing for slander and burglary, stating he had security camera footage proving her illegal entry into his home and theft of his and Youyou's contract, as well as an attempt to seduce him at his hotel. He then revealed his divorce from Youyou, taking responsibility for not providing her with enough support and trust during their marriage.
He apologized to her and expressed gratitude for her tireless efforts to gather evidence for his appeal. Yi Han explained that he disclosed their divorce to free Youyou, allowing her to pursue her own life without being bound by the "Yi Han's wife" label, as he felt he had already owed her too much. During the broadcast, Yi Han declared his indefinite withdrawal from the entertainment industry, acknowledging his failure to serve as a role model.
He vowed to fully pay any contractual penalties but asserted he would not yield an inch in recovering his dignity. He also stated his absolute commitment to pursuing legal action against Sun Qingqing and Gao Lang, even if it meant losing everything, determined not to let them tarnish his reputation with their "dirty tactics." Youyou watched the live stream, her tears flowing freely when he announced their divorce and intensifying when he declared his exit from the entertainment industry.
Episode 24 (Ending) Recap
Pei Youyou frantically tried to reach Yi Han after his livestream, sending him numerous text messages and making many phone calls, but received no response. She searched everywhere for him without success. When Han Di and Lin Tiannuo found her, Youyou broke down, crying that while divorce was one thing, she wondered if he would not even grant her one last meeting, or if he simply wanted to get rid of her with a mere goodbye.
Han Di tried to comfort her, explaining that Yi Han faced many complications and feared being a burden. Youyou, however, declared that she was willing to face anything with him, dismissing the idea that she lacked the ability. She expressed frustration with Yi Han for being contradictory – proposing to her, then leaving. Despite her despair, Youyou resolved that once she returned home, she would tear up their divorce agreement.
She decided to work hard every day, earn money, and transfer a sum to Yi Han's account on the 5th of each month. She committed to taking care of herself, eating well, sleeping soundly, exercising, and living a long life. She affirmed that just as Yi Han had his decisions, she had hers, and she would wait for him forever. Two years passed. The legal case against Gao Lang and Sun Qingqing finally concluded, with both being convicted.
Gao Lang was sentenced to three years in prison for defamation, extortion, and spreading harmful information, while Sun Qingqing was found guilty of burglary. The truth behind the case, involving Gao Lang's revenge against Yi Han, was revealed, clearing Yi Han's name. However, Yi Han had vanished from the public eye after the scandal erupted two years prior, and his current whereabouts remained unknown, even as he was proven innocent. During these two years, Pei Youyou worked tirelessly.
She studied abroad in Europe under Master Keiko Suzuki for a year, then returned to establish her own successful nail art brand and company, winning several awards and even becoming a judge for other competitions. She consistently updated her blog, "Mr. and Mrs. Yi's Blog," with a recurring "soul-searching question": "Has Mr. Yi returned to Mrs. Yi's side today?" In one entry, she expressed her happiness that justice had finally prevailed, much like a fairy tale ending.
Youyou met Han Di at an event, where their conversation revealed updates on their personal lives. Han Di shared that Lin Tiannuo, who was on a business trip in France, called her daily at exactly 10 p. m. , persistently asking her to accept his marriage proposal, which she had not yet agreed to. Han Di was pregnant, which was evident as she declined alcohol and it was mentioned she was two months along.
Youyou also learned that her brother, Lu Ming, was upset she missed his graduation. Han Di recounted that Ran Zishu had proposed to Lu Ming at the ceremony, but he rejected her, stating he would only propose once he earned his first pot of gold. Lu Ming was planning to start a business with classmates. Youyou then inquired about Gao Lang's case, wondering why it had taken two years to resolve.
Han Di explained that Gao Lang had been delusional, repeatedly claiming in court that Yi Han murdered his sister, Xiao Fei, which necessitated a retrial. Han Di revealed that Gao Lang and Xiao Fei were not blood-related orphans, and Xiao Fei suffered from a congenital heart condition. Gao Lang had spent all his savings on her care.
Two years prior, Xiao Fei's extreme excitement over receiving a ticket to Yi Han's concert caused her to faint, leading to a critical medical emergency. Gao Lang desperately tried to get Yi Han to visit her, but Yi Han was out of Shanghai, and Han Di couldn't reach him. After Xiao Fei passed away, Gao Lang became convinced that Yi Han was her killer, escalating his hatred and leading to his subsequent acts of retaliation.
Han Di acknowledged her own regret over not being able to help at the time. Han Di then shared more good news: Lin Tiannuo had acquired the rights to the film "Remaining Life" after securing a new investor, Ran Xiangdong, who was Ran Zishu's father. Lin Tiannuo had also managed to get all the original creators to return and complete the filming for free.
He re-edited the ending and renamed the movie "To be in Love," which had now been nominated for the Mango Film Awards. Furthermore, Yi Han had been nominated for Best Supporting Actor. Han Di admitted she didn't know Yi Han's whereabouts or if he would attend, but asked Youyou to represent him at the ceremony.
Youyou, though nervous, was thrilled by the nomination, understanding its significance for Yi Han who, lacking formal acting training, had always strived for recognition, putting in ten or even a hundred times more effort than his peers. She hoped his win would mean she could finally see him again, as she missed him dearly. At the 22nd Mango Film Festival Award Ceremony, the hosts announced the nominees for Best Supporting Actor, including Yi Han.
Despite repeated calls for Yi Han to come to the stage after being announced as the winner, he did not appear. The hosts then invited Yi Han's wife, Pei Youyou, to accept the award on his behalf. Youyou, as "Yi Han's wife, Pei Youyou," stepped onto the stage. She thanked the judging panel for recognizing Yi Han's work, the crew of "To be in Love" for their sacrifices, Director Lin Tiannuo, producer Ran Xiangdong, and Yi Han's manager, Han Di.
During her heartfelt speech, Youyou seemed to catch a glimpse of Yi Han in the audience, momentarily losing her composure until reminded by the host. She spoke eloquently about Yi Han's dedication, recalling his complaints about the trivialities of fame and his belief that an actor's true legacy lay in infusing their soul into a role, creating something eternal, unlike fleeting celebrity gossip. She specifically mentioned his lack of formal acting background, necessitating immense effort in his craft.
She emphasized that despite his two-year absence from the entertainment industry, his light had not been forgotten, and the award proved it. Her words resonated deeply with the audience, earning her a warm ovation, showcasing her growth from a once insecure girl to a radiant figure on stage. After the ceremony, Youyou mentioned to Lin Tiannuo that she thought she saw Yi Han in the last row of the audience, staring at her with a tender look.
Lin Tiannuo, however, dismissed it as an illusion brought on by her longing. Youyou then posted another entry on her blog, still asking, "Did Mr. Yi return to Mrs. Yi today? The answer is still no." Holding the award trophy, she addressed Yi Han directly, lamenting that she had searched everywhere for him but couldn't find him. She acknowledged he had won the award that belonged to him, but sadly, he no longer belonged to her.
Youyou confessed that she had believed she could live well, eat, sleep, and even become a better version of herself without him, but she found she couldn't. She spoke of knowing he was in darkness and urged him to come out, promising to stay by his side forever, until the end of her life, if he was willing. At that moment, Yi Han emerged. Youyou, with tears in her eyes, asked if he would stay this time.
Yi Han smiled and asked if she would feed him if he didn't leave, to which she tearfully agreed. After a long gaze, Youyou placed a wedding ring on his finger, and they embraced tightly, finally reunited.
