Ordinary Glory Episode 35 Recap
> Ordinary Glory Recap
Wu Kezhi returned to Team Four, feeling downcast, and the sight of Sun Yiqiu's unwavering enthusiasm only deepened his melancholy. Sun Yiqiu requested leave to meet with a founder about his project, and Wu Kezhi, distracted, granted his request. During the meeting, the founder expressed genuine admiration for Sun Yiqiu, remarking on his youth and comparatively less experience, yet highlighting his excellent qualities and genuine passion for the project.
He looked forward to officially collaborating with Sun Yiqiu, leaving Sun Yiqiu quite flattered by the unexpected praise. Back at the office, Lin Yuming received a call from the Risk Control Centre, informing him that Sun Yiqiu's project assessment was complete. Initially, Lin Yuming pondered dinner plans, but shortly after Sun Yiqiu returned, Wu Kezhi abruptly stood up, threw his car keys at Sun Yiqiu, and told him to fill up the gas tank, citing an upcoming work trip.
Sun Yiqiu left, puzzled, as he had already filled the tank. Lin Yuming and Ding Libo were utterly bewildered. Upon learning that Sun Yiqiu's project had been rejected, Lin Yuming became extremely agitated, wanting to immediately confront the Risk Control Centre and HR Department. Wu Kezhi urged them to keep the news from Sun Yiqiu for now, promising to find a solution himself.
Wu Kezhi then went to Li Shensi's office, proposing a deal: if Li Shensi could help Sun Yiqiu stay, Team Four would do anything for him. Wu Kezhi passionately described how he had witnessed Sun Yiqiu's growth over the past year, starting from nothing and overcoming immense challenges to reach his current point. He believed Sun Yiqiu deserved to stay. However, Li Shensi remained firm, explaining that while Sun Yiqiu was capable, his qualifications were inferior to his peers.
He pointed out that Sun Yiqiu was a newcomer, and as a relative newcomer himself, he had limited influence. Li Shensi questioned if there had ever been a permanent employee at King Capital with only a high school education, implying that such a request was impossible given company policy. Meanwhile, Lan Qianyi was visibly distressed. Gao Sicong attempted to speak with her, but she ran to the rooftop, where she was heard crying.
There, she overheard Wu Kezhi on the phone with Director Pan from Risk Control. Initially, Wu Kezhi erupted in anger, accusing Pan of passing the buck and calling the company's rules unreasonable: how could Sun Yiqiu renew his contract without a project, yet not have a project because he couldn't renew his contract? When Director Pan questioned his attitude, Wu Kezhi humbled himself, pleading and apologizing profusely, offering to host a dinner with HR to discuss the matter.
Despite his fervent pleas, the calls yielded no results. Later, Wu Kezhi found Lan Qianyi on the rooftop and offered her advice. He urged her to endure her difficulties with Manager Ma, cautioning her against impulsive decisions. He admitted that Manager Ma, despite his many flaws, was not foolish to have reached his position.
Wu Kezhi advised Lan Qianyi to learn patience and endurance, explaining that once she became indispensable and valuable, Manager Ma would no longer dare to target her. Lan Qianyi acknowledged his words. Wu Kezhi sighed, noting that Lan Qianyi still had the luxury of time, unlike Sun Yiqiu, who was on the verge of leaving the company. He then asked her to keep their conversation private.
Back at Team Four, Lin Yuming and Ding Libo struggled to hide the truth from Sun Yiqiu, feeling increasingly uneasy. Over lunch, Lin Yuming suggested that Sun Yiqiu could simply leave and find success elsewhere with his diligence. Ding Libo, however, countered that this was naive.
He explained that Sun Yiqiu's lack of academic qualifications and the absence of a completed project during his year at King Capital would make it nearly impossible for him to secure an interview at another investment firm, let alone prove his capabilities.
He elaborated on the three types of people who leave investment firms, noting that Sun Yiqiu belonged to the type whose resume would appear empty, rendering his year at King Capital a waste of time and making him an unattractive candidate to any HR manager. Suddenly, a group of workers from Mofan Fashion arrived at the company, demanding to see Manager Yin.
They revealed that the Mofan Fashion factory had long ceased operations, their boss, Mr. Zhou, had absconded, and they hadn't received their wages. Crucially, they had also invested their life savings into company shares under Mr. Zhou's name, having been persuaded to do so for "tax evasion" purposes without proper documentation. Manager Yin, after initially dismissing their claims, became openly sarcastic, calling them "ignorant of the law" and implying they had no one to blame but themselves.
He arrogantly told them his work mistakes were internal company business and ordered them to leave, threatening to call security. Chief Su, observing the commotion, was furious and instructed Manager Yin to resolve the issue before Director Qu returned from abroad. Hao Shuai, who had previously tried to alert Manager Yin to problems with Mofan Fashion's financial reports, watched the scene unfold. Later, Li Shensi approached Sun Yiqiu, who was diligently working on his project.
He made small talk, offering Sun Yiqiu advice about eating lunch, but seemed hesitant to speak his mind. Meanwhile, Wu Kezhi attempted to contact Director Qu, only to be informed that Director Qu was abroad indefinitely and could not be reached. Sun Yiqiu received a message from Shiyan inviting him to meet, which he reluctantly accepted. Shortly after, he received a phone call summoning him to Li Shensi's office. Lin Yuming and Ding Libo exchanged anxious glances, anticipating the worst.
In his office, Li Shensi, with a heavy heart, informed Sun Yiqiu that his project had been rejected by the Risk Control Centre. Sun Yiqiu's eyes darkened, and he returned to Team Four like a ghost. Wu Kezhi, Lin Yuming, and Ding Libo watched him in profound silence. The oppressive atmosphere lingered until the end of the workday. As Sun Yiqiu packed his belongings, Wu Kezhi called out to him. Sun Yiqiu turned, forcing a strained smile.
He then sat alone by the roadside for a long time, his mind replaying his journey from joining King Capital as an intern to the present moment. He felt a familiar sense of defeat, recalling how he had once said goodbye to his past as a failure when he left the Go club. He wondered if this was another such goodbye.
That evening, Lin Yuming called Sun Yiqiu, telling him to be ready to hang out if his blind date did not go well. Moments later, Shiyan called, asking why Sun Yiqiu hadn't arrived for their scheduled meeting.
