Only Side by Side with You Episode 27 Recap
> Only Side by Side with You Recap
Early in the morning, Hao Jie arrived at Ouyang Qi's pet hospital. Ouyang Qi confronted him, questioning if she was merely another part of Shi Yue and Hao Jie's grand plan. Hao Jie confessed he couldn't reveal anything at that moment, which frustrated Ouyang Qi, causing her to turn away. Hao Jie, however, quickly pulled her back, pressing her against a wall, and kissed her passionately.
He told her the only thing he could confirm was the sincerity of his kiss. Ouyang Qi responded with a kiss of her own, stating firmly that they were now even, with no further debt between them, and stepped back to create a clear distance. Hao Jie immediately closed that gap, but Ouyang Qi, her expression cold, declared that neither of them could cross that boundary again before she turned and left.
Hao Jie frantically pursued her, pleading with her to stay and allow him to explain, to "owe her for a few more days" and share the words he hadn't clearly expressed. He asked if she would even deny him the right to owe her, but his efforts were fruitless as she walked away, leaving him to watch her departure with sadness. Meanwhile, Nan Qiao sat dejectedly in the Instant Flight meeting room.
She instructed the main control computer, "Little Cute Table," to initiate a complete data wipe, including all research and development data, product information, employee photo albums, and even team-building videos of the real-time CS team. She also ordered the deletion of records pertaining to Shi Yue, such as the meeting where he was accepted as a shareholder, effectively erasing all shared memories and projects.
As the system processed her command, reporting the deletion of work history, research data, and even the "Nan Qiao and Wen Di sisterhood" album, her colleagues, Old Qin, Xiao Kui, Xiao An, and Wen Di, entered the room. They tried to dissuade her from resetting everything, with one colleague asking if she was truly giving up on their jointly created "Little Cute Table" and deleting their collective memories and hard-calculated data.
Wen Di further tried to comfort her, reminding her that everyone encounters difficult people in life and that leaving Shi Yue would ultimately lead to a better future. Wen Di asserted that Nan Qiao would always be the resolute boss of Instant Flight. Nan Qiao remained silent, offering no response, and quietly left the office. An Jie's subordinate informed her about the brawl between Chang Jianxiong and Shi Yue.
An Jie dismissively called their fight childish but quickly surmised that Shi Yue had gone to a boxing gym to vent his frustrations, a place she noted she knew well, as he had even taught her some fighting skills. She then went to the gym. Watching Shi Yue pound the sandbag, An Jie’s mind drifted back to their past. She recalled playfully questioning his constant training, to which he replied he needed to maintain his fighting state.
She had once expressed her liking for him, particularly his focused intensity when punching, always aiming to win. She remembered his confession that he had lost a lot and merely wanted to feel what it was like to win. An Jie also cherished his expression as he dominated opponents, "stepping on enemies and slowly admiring it," a pleasure she saw as innate.
She had told him she felt they were very similar, "the same kind of people," and reminded him of his past advice to never show true feelings or trust the sincerity of others. Now, she observed that he himself had seemingly failed to follow that advice. An Jie then challenged his apparent weakness, suggesting he was afraid of Chang Jianxiong using the power of the Changshi Group against him.
She offered her protection, assuring him she wouldn't let him be trampled as before, and invited him to spar with her. Shi Yue, however, replied that not all problems could be solved with revenge, nor could all people be completely forgotten just by giving them up. An Jie realized his persistence stemmed from his inability to let go of a woman.
Shi Yue openly admitted he was doing all this for a woman and offered An Jie anything she desired if she would only leave Nan Qiao alone. An Jie, acknowledging his offer, simply stated that the outcome would depend on his performance and that she wouldn't give him much time. She leaned in to kiss him, but Shi Yue silently avoided her. Later, Nan Qiao was tending to Chang Jianxiong’s wounds.
Seizing the opportunity, Chang Jianxiong began to unveil the complex history between him and Shi Yue. He recounted their time in military school, where Shi Yue, then known as Shi Junqing, was the most rebellious and prone to trouble, while he himself was an exemplary student who strictly followed orders. Despite their contrasting natures, they became the closest of friends.
However, Chang Jianxiong confessed that he, Shi Yue's "best buddy," had committed the worst possible act, inflicting a deep wound upon him. He then confessed to Nan Qiao that he had not only stolen Shi Yue's dissertation but had also appropriated his identity, admitting he knew nothing about drones or aircraft models. He revealed that all the inspiring ideas that had once thrilled Nan Qiao were actually Shi Yue's.
He had merely used Shi Yue's intellect and dissertation to impress her, driven by a desperate desire to win her favor. Chang Jianxiong confessed to being a complete liar and revealed that Shi Yue and Nan Qiao had unknowingly shared a connection seven years prior. Nan Qiao, heartbroken by this revelation, responded that even if they had met seven years ago, it wouldn't have been the same Shi Yue and Nan Qiao she knew now, and nothing would have changed.
Chang Jianxiong then took Nan Qiao to their old military academy, the Blue Sky Blade special training camp, to show her the path that marked a turning point in their lives. He explained that he and Shi Yue had always been rivals, but Chang Jianxiong consistently "won" because Shi Yue would secretly support him during critical moments.
When Shi Yue was investigated, he chose to bear the blame alone for a lost document, refusing to implicate Chang Jianxiong, even as he was expelled from the school and banned from future service. Chang Jianxiong recalled trying to confess to their superiors, only to be told to protect himself, as Shi Yue's silence was meant to shield him.
It was only later that Chang Jianxiong learned Shi Yue's frantic departure from school that day was due to his father being severely beaten by loan sharks and rushed to the hospital. Yet, everyone, including Chang Jianxiong himself, had readily assumed Shi Yue stole the dissertation to sell for money to pay off debts.
Believing Shi Yue only needed money, Chang Jianxiong secretly repaid the debts, never expecting Shi Yue to reappear seven years later and become so deeply involved with Nan Qiao. He confessed that he had always wanted to explain the truth and apologize to Shi Yue but had been too cowardly to do so. He concluded that from the look of things, Shi Yue’s quest for revenge was far from over.
Chang Jianxiong drove Nan Qiao home, but she asked him to take her to her father's house instead. Upon arriving, her father, slightly annoyed by her unexpected visit, informed her that the drone she had left previously was in her brother Nan Si's room. Lying in Nan Si's room, Nan Qiao was overwhelmed with painful memories of her relationship with Shi Yue, recalling their initial encounters involving the drone, his investment in Instant Flight, and shared dreams.
These memories, once cherished, now brought her immense agony. Meanwhile, driving alone, Chang Jianxiong reflected on Shi Yue's recent actions, believing that Shi Yue was acting to protect Nan Qiao by inflicting a "short pain" to prevent a "long pain." He blamed himself for not letting go sooner and confronting the truth earlier. The following day, An Jie introduced Shi Yue to Mr. Qiu of Weizhi Company for a business meeting. Shi Yue performed well, maintaining a polite demeanor.
However, when An Jie attempted to link arms with him, he subtly avoided her gesture. An Jie praised Shi Yue to Mr. Qiu, but Shi Yue paid little attention to her compliments.
