> Novoland: The Castle in the Sky 2 Recap
Yun Muyang, gravely wounded, was saved by Du Xianyin, who used her own blood to attract poisonous insects, a dangerous method to counter the poison in his wound. When Yun Muyang finally regained consciousness, he immediately inquired about Lian Yi. Du Xianyin, feigning weakness and helplessness, told him that Lian Yi had not managed to get onto the boat after Du Xianyin helped Yun Muyang on board.
She claimed the hawser suddenly snapped and, lacking martial arts skills, she was unable to help. Yun Muyang was distraught and blamed himself for Lian Yi's predicament, expressing regret that she ended up like this because of him. Seeing his concern, Du Xianyin revealed her injured hand, explaining the extreme measure she took to save him. She then embraced him, crying and proclaiming that she could not live without him.
Meanwhile, Wei Zhao's body was discovered, swollen and unrecognizable from being in the river. Wei Yunting, his father, was devastated and infuriated to learn from his subordinate that Wei Zhao had been brutally tortured before his death, suffering multiple deep wounds and having the tendons in his limbs severed. Wei Yunting suspected the Silver Wings Cavalry traitors and was presented with a red ruby found on Wei Zhao's body, believed to be left by the killer.
Meanwhile, Madam Xuan Ji visited Feng Ruche, informing her of Wei Zhao's death. When Feng Ruche inquired about Lian Yi, Madam Xuan Ji redirected the conversation, emphasizing the strategic advantage in Wei Zhao's demise. Madam Xuan Ji presented evidence linking Pei Jing, Prince Yu's trusted colonel, to Wei Zhao's murder. She proposed a scheme: Feng Ruche should appoint Pei Jing to Wei Zhao's former official position during the Seven Star Blessing Ceremony.
This, Madam Xuan Ji explained, would ignite a fierce conflict between the long-standing rivals, Duke Wei and Prince Yu, allowing Feng Ruche to reap the benefits. Feng Ruche initially expressed discomfort with the manipulative plan and her general distrust of palace officials. Bai Dangdang tried to cheer her up, accompanying her to watch the stars and offering various comforts.
Bai Dangdang, whom Feng Ruche considers her only trustworthy companion, also suggested that Madam Xuan Ji had proven helpful in the past. Feng Ruche acknowledged Madam Xuan Ji's previous assistance in matters like releasing Yang Duan, helping Lian Yi leave, and lowering taxes, but still found everyone in the palace two-faced except Bai Dangdang.
Later, Feng Ruche, grateful for Bai Dangdang's unwavering support, proposed they become sworn buddies, insisting he call her "boss," a pact they sealed with a pinky promise and an oath on his mother's name. Feng Ruche continued to send numerous messages to Xue Jingkong using their special communication device, asking about his return, his well-being, and seeking his guidance on books, lamenting his lack of replies.
Xue Jingkong, while receiving these messages, couldn't help but smile, though he didn't reply directly. He was teased by Xing Shangli about the sender being "that young lady who's really ugly," which Xue Jingkong immediately denied. Later that night, Xue Jingkong invisibly entered Feng Ruche's palace. He observed her refusing food due to a lack of appetite.
Using his spiritual powers, he subtly influenced her, causing her to suddenly feel hungry and eagerly eat her favorite egg noodles, much to his amusement as he silently commented on her table manners. As Feng Ruche ate, she sent another message, inquiring if he would return for the upcoming Seven Star Blessing Ceremony. The sound of his bamboo tube, hidden within the room, startled her and her maid. They frantically searched the chamber, but Xue Jingkong remained concealed.
Feng Ruche, unable to find him, eventually dismissed the sounds as her imagination. Feng Ruche, drinking heavily, openly expressed her longing for Xue Jingkong, lamenting that despite the palace's luxuries, she was far from happy and only felt calm and joyful in his presence. She accused him of making a tacit promise to return and playfully threatened to draw a tortoise on his face, commenting on his perceived aloofness. She sent another urgent message, pleading "Come save me!"
As she became increasingly intoxicated, she stumbled, and Xue Jingkong, abandoning his invisibility, caught her. Still believing it to be a dream, Feng Ruche affectionately called him "Master" and playfully tried to "get revenge" on him for his past teasing. She clung to him, expressing how much she missed him and even tried to sing loudly, which Xue Jingkong tried to quiet, fearing they would be discovered. He gently carried the now sleeping Feng Ruche back to her room.
The following morning, Xue Jingkong returned to his quarters, where Xing Shangli greeted him, teasingly asking if he had spent the night doing "labor work." Xue Jingkong quickly inquired about Lian Yi and learned she had already woken up and departed, heading south. Without hesitation, he set off to follow her trail. Meanwhile, Feng Ruche awoke, recalling fragments of her "dream" from the night before.
Her maid, Xiao Zhi, assured her that no one had entered her chambers, leading Feng Ruche to conclude it was merely a vivid dream, leaving her disappointed that Xue Jingkong still hadn't replied to her messages. Later, at the Seven Star Blessing Ceremony, Duke Wei Yunting, still reeling from his son Wei Zhao's death, loudly demanded justice.
When Feng Ruche asked if he had found the killer, Wei Yunting immediately accused Pei Jing, Prince Yu's colonel, and presented a ruby found on Wei Zhao's body, claiming it was a missing piece from Pei Jing's sword. Prince Yu vehemently denied the accusation, calling it a deliberate frame-up and arguing that a single ruby was insufficient evidence for a death sentence. Feng Ruche intervened, stopping the heated argument.
Following Madam Xuan Ji's strategic advice, she ordered Pei Jing to be detained until after the ceremony, promising a thorough investigation. Prince Yu, though displeased, reluctantly agreed, assuring Pei Jing he would personally secure his release once the ceremony concluded. Feng Ruche, however, privately expressed frustration that Madam Xuan Ji's plan to curb their arrogance didn't seem to be working as effectively as intended. As Xue Jingkong pursued Lian Yi, he was suddenly afflicted by a severe magical backlash, leaving him vulnerable to another attack.
