Meanwhile, Feng Ruche and her companions received a distress signal from Lian Yi, indicating that Qi Zhenxian was in peril. Her comrades insisted on protecting Feng Ruche, urging her to go save their lord. Though concerned for them, Feng Ruche accepted, telling them to take care of themselves as she rode off.
At the same time, Yun Muyang arrived at the Wu Xiang Camp, ordering them to proceed immediately to assist their lord while he remained behind to cover their retreat. Surrounded by enemy forces, Yun Muyang defiantly refused their calls for surrender, proclaiming he would fight to the end even if it meant death. He expressed his profound gratitude for her past rescues and, just before collapsing, confessed his love for someone, hoping that in a next life they would meet in a peaceful world where he could ask her to be his wife. The supposed "empty city" of Linchi proved to be a cunning trap set by Wei Yuan Ting, who taunted Qi Zhenxian, revealing his scouts had been killed and offering lavish rewards to anyone who eliminated him. A fierce battle ensued, and Qi Zhenxian was gravely wounded. Lian Yi bravely fought to protect him. Feng Ruche arrived, using a treasured item from her Qiankun bag to help Qi Zhenxian, but Wei Yuan Ting shot it down.
As Feng Ruche fell, a sharp pain shot through her ear, and her Golden Wings dramatically re-emerged before the shocked eyes of everyone present. The Wu Xiang Camp soldiers arrived shortly after. He offered to leave with her once Yun Muyang was found, to escape the mortal world's troubles. However, Feng Ruche stated that with the return of her Golden Wings, she believed she was meant to fulfill a greater purpose, even though she disliked war. Observing her resolve, Xue Jingkong remarked that she had truly grown. Meanwhile, Yun Muyang awoke in an abandoned lodge by a river, where Du Xianyin was tending to his wounds.
She explained she had ignored Zi Juan's advice and risked her life to find him. Still weakened, Yun Muyang pressed her for the truth about her identity, but she fainted. After she revived, Du Xianyin, still suffering from the Red Thorn poison, urged him to rest. Yun Muyang then carved a wooden hairpin for her, declaring it a token of his feelings, and promised that once he recovered, he would report to his lord to announce their marriage.
Du Xianyin, emotional, asked if he loved her for who she truly was or for some other reason. Yun Muyang assured her it was purely because of her, expressing his forgiveness for any past actions if she was honest with him.
