Never Say Goodbye Episode 6 Recap
> Never Say Goodbye Recap
Mu Qing stood in a DR diamond ring store, lost in memories of his past with Rong Yu, recalling how he once chose matching rings with her. His reverie was abruptly interrupted by a phone call from Ou Kexin, urging him to return. When they met, Mu Qing suggested that since Mr. Ou had allowed her to stay in Yungang, she shouldn't spend her days "lazing around."
Ou Kexin explained she was just jet-lagged and needed to rest, but then enthusiastically declared her intention to open a custom tailor-made boutique, deciding to start looking for a storefront right away, saying, "I might as well do it today." Mu Qing discovered she had studied fashion design in France and acknowledged her "fashion sense" was "not too bad," though he jokingly questioned her "character."
Meanwhile, Dakun gathered the Four Vajras on a yacht, expressing frustration that Li Ruosheng was encroaching on his territory. Mr. Glasses revealed that Mr. Ou had been talking about "retiring," implying he "really meant it," and that the group's successor was still undecided. The others presented their stances: Congtou declared he only handled "dirty work" like transportation, claiming he wouldn't dare aspire to the leadership position.
Mr. Glasses, who had been by Mr. Ou's side for years, stated he was "only in charge of management" and credited the others for the group's current success. Tieguanyin, identifying herself as "just a woman" who "only knows about manufacturing and development," suggested Dakun had the best chance of "winning the lottery." Dakun, feigning humility while beaming, dismissed their comments as "pushing" him, but they all raised a toast, pre-congratulating him on becoming the successor.
Tieguanyin then expressed curiosity about how Mu Qing and Li Ruosheng had gained Mr. Ou's trust, especially being given VIVI, a prime venue. Congtou warned Dakun that Mu Qing and Li Ruosheng were "time bombs" and that if they exploded, Dakun would be the first affected, implicitly suggesting the others were using Dakun as a pawn. Dakun then received a message from Xiaofoye, asking what to do now that Jimmy had been arrested.
At the police station, Rong Yao instructed his new colleague, Zhao Ran, to disguise himself as Bao Yunhai's uncle to surprise him. Zhao Ran’s disguise was so effective that Bao Yunhai initially believed him to be his actual relative, exclaiming, "Uncle? Why are you here?" until he saw him up close. Zhao Ran then demonstrated his excellent surveillance technology. Zhao Ran's proven talent promised a strong addition to the team.
Mu Qing accompanied Ou Kexin to view a large, empty storefront. During negotiations, Ou Kexin haggled fiercely, stating she wouldn't rent if the price wasn't lowered to 10,000. Later, she discovered online reports that the "Pioneer Art District Building Three" had a history of "paranormal activities." She joked that if Mu Qing moved in, he would scare the ghosts away.
Over tea, she read Mu Qing's palm, observing his "love life is rough," his "greedy for power," and the "thick callus" on his palm, indicating he "uses guns often." Mu Qing quickly deflected, saying he just cooked often. Despite the property's spooky past, Ou Kexin, consulting a traditional calendar, insisted they find a place that day because "tomorrow is an auspicious day for renovations," leading Mu Qing to muse that she acted "like an old lady" despite her French upbringing.
Elsewhere, Dakun told Xiaofoye that he would find a place for him to hide but demanded Xiaofoye "kill someone" for him first, to which Xiaofoye reluctantly agreed. At the Yungang Police Bureau, the team brainstormed names for their new task force. After rejecting "Leopard Hunters" and "Rat Hunters," the name "Task Force 84" was proposed, signifying their goal to "cleanse Yungang City" like a disinfectant, much like "Lin Zexu destroyed opium pipes." Director Liu approved.
Analyzing the drugs seized from Jimmy, the police determined that Xiaofoye's supply was industrially mass-produced and likely sourced from Group K. Their immediate priority was to identify Xiaofoye. Li Yimeng confronted Rong Yao, demanding to know why she was excluded from Task Force 84. She challenged him to a competition, declaring that if he won, she would accept his decision, but if he lost, she would automatically join the team.
They engaged in a shooting contest, both scoring "29 points" after three shots. In a subsequent hand-to-hand combat, Li Yimeng, fueled by a desire to prove herself and overcome being "looked down on by a bunch of men," defeated Rong Yao. True to his word, Rong Yao accepted his loss and told Li Yimeng to prepare for a mission with the team.
Back at Ou Kexin's new studio, which Mr. Ou had expedited the renovation of, she tasked Mu Qing and Li Ruosheng with manual labor, explaining that she found them more "trustworthy" than their subordinates. Unbeknownst to them, a sinister-looking man was observing their every move. Later, Ou Kexin made them custom suits, giving one to Mu Qing and a "flawed" one to Li Ruosheng, who eagerly went to try his on.
Mu Qing went to the restroom but was intercepted by the observing man, later identified as "Laoba the Butcher," a professional assassin known for using potent anesthetics. Mu Qing was drugged and stuffed into a trash can. When Mu Qing failed to return, Ou Kexin and Li Ruosheng became concerned. Li Ruosheng found a used anesthetic dart and immediately called his subordinates to locate Laoba the Butcher's lair, with Ou Kexin following close behind.
Upon arriving at Laoba the Butcher's hideout, Li Ruosheng and Ou Kexin stormed in with metal bars, searching rooms. They found Mu Qing, who had already managed to subdue Laoba. However, Laoba proved to be tight-lipped, refusing to disclose any information despite their efforts. Ou Kexin then offered to try interrogating him herself. Shortly after, Mr. Ou appeared, angrily reprimanding Mu Qing and Li Ruosheng for taking Ou Kexin to a dangerous and "filthy place" like Laoba the Butcher's lair.
He sent Ou Kexin back to her room, then prepared to intensely question the two men. Later that evening, Ou Kexin took Mu Qing to a night market for street food, endearingly calling him "Qingqing." Her "cute" and enthusiastic eating style reminded Mu Qing of Rong Yu, causing him to abruptly pay and leave her alone at the market. That same night, Mr. Ou received a phone call from a mysterious figure known as "Ghost."
Ghost was aware of Mr. Ou's plans to retire and warned him to be "careful with your successor," stressing the importance of Group K to Ghost's "new invention" for the Asian market, and cautioning against a potential "typhoon in Yungang."
