Never Say Goodbye Episode 34 Recap
> Never Say Goodbye Recap
Li Yimeng, disguised as a nurse, attempted to evade Glasses while leading him through the hospital. She expressed concern about the prolonged journey to the nursery and questioned its location. Glasses's subordinate, Shao Nan, vaguely indicated it was "right in front." At that moment, Ou Kexin appeared, feigning a chance encounter. She deliberately engaged Glasses in a lengthy conversation, fabricating a "gynecological condition" as her reason for being at the hospital.
While Glasses was distracted, Mu Qing, disguised as a doctor, took the baby from Li Yimeng, mentioning that Doctor Zhao was rushing him. Glasses's men were numerous, and Mu Qing sustained an injury during a struggle with them. Glasses glimpsed Mu Qing during his escape, which sparked his suspicion about Mu Qing's identity. Li Yimeng's team successfully rescued Xiaoyue and her baby, reuniting them.
Ou Kexin found the wounded Mu Qing and drove him to safety, despite his urgency to flee Glasses's pursuit. Glasses, furious about losing Xiaoyue and her baby, stormed into Li Ruosheng's home, demanding to know Mu Qing's whereabouts. Li Ruosheng denied Mu Qing's presence and offered to lead Glasses to Mu Qing's house. Glasses dismissed this. Shao Nan, already searching, confirmed they couldn't find Mu Qing.
Glasses then received a call from Mr. Ou, who inquired if Mu Qing was behind the recent events. Glasses, aware of Mu Qing's injury, asserted that once he found Mu Qing and examined the wound, he would confirm if he was responsible. Mr. Ou urged him to locate Mu Qing swiftly. Glasses then instructed Li Ruosheng to call Mu Qing and arrange a meeting at the hot spring resort.
Meanwhile, Ou Kexin carefully bandaged Mu Qing's wound, cautioning him to keep it dry to prevent infection. Mu Qing, teasingly, thanked her, implying others would care for him if she didn't. Ou Kexin, feigning annoyance, called him "Liu Yuanwen" and jokingly warned him she'd "deal with him" once he recovered. Mu Qing, acknowledging her worry, promised to be careful.
Mu Qing informed Ou Kexin about Li Ruosheng's summons, making Ou Kexin concerned that the meeting could expose him, given his injury. Mu Qing, however, believed that refusing to attend would only heighten suspicion. He told Ou Kexin that if anyone asked about his day, she should claim he had accompanied her to the hospital for a routine gynecological check-up. At the police station, Congtou met with Xiaoyue and their newborn son.
Overwhelmed, he apologized to Xiaoyue for his past failures. Xiaoyue comforted him, reminding him that their family was now reunited, which she saw as a blessing. She urged Congtou to confess everything to the police, assuring him she would wait for him no matter how long he was incarcerated, believing honesty might lead to leniency.
Mu Qing arrived at the hot spring resort to meet Li Ruosheng, who immediately confronted him about being suspected as a mole by Mr. Ou and Glasses. Mu Qing explained that his presence at the hospital with Ou Kexin for her gynecological check-up was coincidental, and they had simply stumbled upon Glasses's operation. He elaborated that Glasses, unwilling to take responsibility for losing Congtou, Xiaoyue, and her baby, was attempting to frame him.
Mu Qing believed Glasses harbored a long-standing grudge against him and was using his injury as fabricated "evidence" to convince Mr. Ou that Mu Qing was a mole, thus providing a pretext for his elimination. Li Ruosheng found Glasses's supposed brazenness hard to believe, but Mu Qing maintained that Glasses merely sought a justifiable reason. Li Ruosheng warned Mu Qing that Glasses's men were outside, with orders to kill him on sight if he showed any wounds.
Simultaneously, Glasses received a call from Mr. Ou, who instructed him to eliminate Mu Qing without hesitation if he was indeed the mole, emphasizing not to consider Ou Kexin or hold back. Glasses readily agreed. Separately, Ou Kexin met with Rong Yao, expressing profound worry for Mu Qing. She conveyed that Li Ruosheng had summoned Mu Qing to the hot spring resort, and given Mu Qing's injury, she feared his cover might be blown.
Rong Yao explained that Mu Qing's primary mission—to destabilize Group K and facilitate Rong Yao's access to Mr. Ou and Spectre—was largely accomplished. He stated that Mu Qing was already set to conclude his undercover work and should "terminate the operation immediately" given the new complications. Ou Kexin, however, pleaded for Mu Qing's rescue. Rong Yao, assuring her that he would save Mu Qing "no matter what," then inquired about Mu Qing's current location.
Inside the hot spring resort, Mu Qing and Li Ruosheng finalized their plan. Mu Qing reiterated his belief that Glasses intended to eliminate them both to seize control of Group K. Li Ruosheng, as Mu Qing's loyal friend, suggested they swap clothes. Li Ruosheng would then draw away Glasses's men, allowing Mu Qing to escape.
Afterward, Li Ruosheng would attempt to clarify the situation with Mr. Ou; if successful, he would call Mu Qing back, otherwise, Mu Qing was to leave Yungang permanently. Li Ruosheng, disguised as Mu Qing, successfully diverted some of Glasses's men. However, several continued to pursue the real Mu Qing. Despite challenging the attackers on the source of their orders, Mu Qing was outnumbered and brutally stabbed in the abdomen during a fierce struggle.
Severely wounded, he managed to subdue one assailant and instructed him to relay a defiant message to Glasses: he would "settle the score" for this. Mu Qing then escaped into a nearby alley. Shortly after, Rong Yao led police officers to the hot spring resort. They arrested some of Glasses's men but found no trace of Mu Qing or Li Ruosheng.
The arrested men informed the police that Li Ruosheng had fled earlier, and Mu Qing was last seen entering an alley, pursued by two individuals. While the police found an unconscious assailant in the alley, Mu Qing's whereabouts remained unknown. Rong Yao ordered an extensive search using CCTV footage, but Mu Qing could not be found. Meanwhile, Glasses's wounded subordinate reported back to him, confirming Mu Qing's escape and relaying Mu Qing's defiant message about settling the score.
Enraged, Glasses dismissed his subordinate. Concurrently, Li Ruosheng arrived at Mr. Ou's house. Mr. Ou, having learned of Mu Qing's escape, berated Li Ruosheng for his perceived failure to protect Mu Qing. Li Ruosheng passionately argued against Mr. Ou's harsh judgment, asserting he couldn't allow Mu Qing to be killed based solely on Glasses's accusations.
He then accused Glasses of trying to kill Mu Qing to frame him, and subsequently calling the police to eliminate Li Ruosheng as well, describing it as a "flawless plan." Mr. Ou questioned if Glasses had truly colluded with the police. Li Ruosheng insisted Glasses acted out of fear that Mu Qing would expose his treachery, using the setup to solidify Mu Qing's image as a mole.
Despite Li Ruosheng's vehement defense, Mr. Ou dismissed his claims, stating that his decade-long familiarity with Glasses assured him of his loyalty and that he "doesn't have the guts" to betray him. At the Public Security Bureau, Li Yimeng observed Rong Yao's intense search for Mu Qing, remarking that he appeared to be looking for his "real brother" rather than a fugitive. Rong Yao, brushing off her comments, urged her to maintain vigilance.
Director Liu informed Rong Yao that the blood in the alley belonged to Mu Qing, indicating a critical injury that required immediate medical attention. He expressed concern that despite knowing Rong Yao was there to rescue him, Mu Qing had fled and remained incommunicado for two hours. Director Liu concluded that Mu Qing deliberately avoided police rescue. Rong Yao then contacted Ou Kexin, updating her on Mu Qing's injury and continued disappearance.
A distraught Ou Kexin worried about Mu Qing's condition and location. Rong Yao tasked her with going to Mr. Ou's house to ascertain if Mu Qing was in Mr. Ou's custody and if Glasses's actions against Mu Qing were authorized by Mr. Ou. Ou Kexin acknowledged her mission, expressing her continued trust in both Rong Yao and Mu Qing. At Mr. Ou's residence, Glasses arrived to present his version of the night's events.
He minimized the police arrests, stating they were only "newcomers" and posed no threat to the organization's interests. He then accused Mu Qing and Li Ruosheng of staging a "show" with the police, calling it a "divisive trick" aimed at discrediting him with Mr. Ou. Recalling Li Ruosheng's earlier similar accusations, Mr. Ou summoned Li Ruosheng to confront Glasses. The two men immediately engaged in a furious debate, each accusing the other of being the mole.
Li Ruosheng brazenly accused Glasses of feigning loyalty while systematically eliminating key figures like Dakun, Tie Guanyin, and Congtou, suggesting Glasses sought to remove both him and Mu Qing to eventually replace Mr. Ou and take over his position as the head of Group K. Enraged, Glasses drew a gun and pointed it at Li Ruosheng, threatening to kill him. Just then, Ou Kexin rushed in, grabbing Glasses's arm and demanding to know Mu Qing's whereabouts.
She stated that Mu Qing had called her, claiming Glasses was trying to kill him and insisting he was not a mole. Ou Kexin passionately defended Mu Qing, explaining that he had been with her at the hospital for a check-up and had only then encountered Glasses's men. She challenged Li Ruosheng, accusing him of conspiring with Glasses by arranging the meeting at the hot spring.
She then confronted Glasses, pointing out he had also been at the hospital and had seen her, thus implying he was lying about not seeing Mu Qing. Finally, she turned to Mr. Ou, directly questioning if the entire situation was orchestrated by him. Mr. Ou, his authority challenged, ordered Glasses to his study and Li Ruosheng to return home, then faced Ou Kexin alone.
Ou Kexin continued to press him, asserting that Glasses would not have dared to act so aggressively without Mr. Ou's explicit permission, implying Mr. Ou still harbored suspicions about Mu Qing.
