Never Say Goodbye Episode 27 Recap
> Never Say Goodbye Recap
Li Ruosheng confronted Mu Qing in the restroom, which Mu Qing realized was under surveillance, about Tieguanyin's arrest. Li Ruosheng questioned if Mu Qing was truly with Ou Kexin at the time, expressing his suspicion that the incident was "too strange." Mu Qing, feigning offense, denied any involvement and insisted Li Ruosheng knew his cautious nature. Despite Mu Qing's denial, they both concluded that if they weren't the mole, Congtou must be.
As they left the restroom, Li Ruosheng provocatively accused Mu Qing of abandoning Ou Kexin for Linda. Mu Qing angrily denied the accusation and accused Li Ruosheng of incompetence. Their argument escalated into a near-brawl before Congtou intervened, telling them to calm down. Watching from surveillance, Mr. Ou noted that while their fight seemed genuine, it might not reveal the mole.
He found Tieguanyin's capture suspicious, given her usual caution and the fact that she had already sent Liu Qingqing to the factory. Ou Kexin arrived and quickly separated the two men. She asked Mu Qing why he, Li Ruosheng, and Congtou were all at her house. Mu Qing explained that Mr. Ou had summoned them for business discussions and that they would be staying there for a few days.
Mr. Ou quietly told Yan Jing to keep Ou Kexin unaware of the mole investigation. Yan Jing then invited everyone to dinner. At dinner, Ou Kexin recounted how Huang Boyuan had stood her up for an exhibition date that morning, leading Mu Qing to pick her up instead. She affirmed that Mu Qing had been with her all morning, and they had even tried to find Guanyin, whose phone was off and who was not home.
Mu Qing and Li Ruosheng began to argue again, but Mr. Ou quickly silenced them. Ou Kexin asked Mu Qing to contact her the next day, but he revealed that all their phones had been confiscated. She expressed concern, but Mu Qing cut her off, urging her to return to her studio to rest. Driving away, Ou Kexin pondered Mu Qing's explanations about their prolonged stay at Mr. Ou’s house and the confiscated phones, sensing something was amiss.
However, she found some comfort in knowing Mu Qing was at least safe within Mr. Ou's home, uncertain of what might happen if he left. Meanwhile, Huang Boyuan, having seen news of Tieguanyin's factory raid, received a call from an associate who informed him that his parents considered Yungang unsafe and wanted him home.
Huang Boyuan then received a file from his associate, confirming that Task Force 84 was behind Tieguanyin's arrest and suggesting Rong Yao, a former Interpol officer, might be leading the task force in Yungang. Huang Boyuan recognized Rong Yao from the bookstore, where he had seen him with Ou Kexin. He immediately went to Ou Kexin's studio to bid her farewell. Ou Kexin, however, did not let him in, briefly speaking to him at the door before sending him away.
Shortly after, Ou Kexin called Rong Yao, informing him that Mu Qing was detained at Mr. Ou’s house and asking him to prepare for a rescue. Rong Yao told her that Huang Boyuan's parents were in custody and that he was seeking an arrest warrant for Huang Boyuan, warning Ou Kexin to stay away from him.
When Director Liu learned that Huang Boyuan had just visited Ou Kexin's studio, he ordered Rong Yao to arrest Huang Boyuan immediately, without waiting for the warrant, but Huang Boyuan had already disappeared. At Mr. Ou's house, Congtou grew increasingly agitated while confined with Mu Qing and Li Ruosheng. He tried to call a friend but was denied access to his phone.
He then accused Mu Qing of being the mole, citing Dakun's betrayal and Tieguanyin's arrest as evidence that incidents only occurred after Mu Qing's arrival. Mu Qing, in turn, advised Congtou to be cautious with his words, warning that causing internal conflict would incur Mr. Ou's severe displeasure. From the surveillance room, Mr. Ou discussed the mole situation with Yan Jing, explaining that the mole's greatest fear was the gradual exposure of their identity.
He instructed Yan Jing to inform the three men that Mr. Ou's contacts within the city police were actively searching for the mole, hoping this pressure would force the mole to reveal themselves. Yan Jing delivered the message, confirming that Mr. Ou had verified the existence of a mole within the group, possibly among them. Congtou became defensive, questioning why he was being detained and suspected. He argued that wrongly accusing someone would demoralize the group.
Mu Qing and Li Ruosheng remained silent. Acknowledging Congtou's point about damaging morale, Mr. Ou changed tactics. He ordered Yan Jing to have someone bring Zheng Ke's daughter from the hospital. Under the guise of Zheng Ke's colleagues, Yan Jing's men picked up Xiaoxiao from the hospital. Zheng Ke, arriving at the hospital, discovered his daughter missing and received a call from Yan Jing.
Yan Jing used Xiaoxiao's safety to coerce Zheng Ke into providing information about the undercover agent, assigning him the codename "Luotuo" and warning that his movements were being monitored by their people within the police department. Zheng Ke immediately reported Xiaoxiao's kidnapping to Rong Yao and Director Liu. Considering the unknown location of Xiaoxiao and the stage of their undercover operations, Director Liu decided against immediate direct action.
He noted that Tieguanyin's arrest indicated K Group's awareness of an internal mole, and Yan Jing's claim of having an informant in the city bureau was credible. To avoid alerting Mr. Ou, Director Liu ordered Task Force 84 to conduct all future meetings outside the station and "put on a show" of ignorance.
Following a strategy session, Zheng Ke called Yan Jing, agreeing to exchange the undercover agent's information for Xiaoxiao in three days, but insisted on choosing the meeting location. Back at Mr. Ou's house, Congtou continued to accuse Mu Qing, highlighting the suspicious coincidences since Mu Qing joined. Mr. Ou, now present, prompted Mu Qing for his perspective. Mu Qing shifted suspicion to Congtou, questioning how his usually flawless delivery operation was compromised this time.
Congtou angrily accused Mu Qing of knowing about his secret deals with Tieguanyin and trying to frame him. Mu Qing demanded to know how Congtou possessed such information. Mr. Ou intervened, validating some of Mu Qing's points and revealing his knowledge of Congtou's secret drug lab and Tieguanyin's greed. He also criticized Mu Qing and Li Ruosheng for their conflict over a woman. Dismissing these personal matters as separate from the mole issue, Mr. Ou took Mu Qing aside.
In a private room, Mr. Ou sought to understand Mu Qing better, reviewing his resume and proposing a game of Go. Mu Qing suggested they let fate decide who played black and white by guessing odd or even. Mr. Ou chose "odd," musing that while "odds aren't in pairs" and are "free-spirited," he preferred to have someone "helping" him. Meanwhile, Rong Yao met with Ou Kexin. He assigned her two tasks: first, to inform Mu Qing that Mr. Ou's attempt to turn their police informant had failed, and second, a more "tricky" task.
