Following up on the events in the utility room, Lin Xingchen attempted to confess her feelings to Jiang Nianyu, clarifying that Zheng Chu Yao was not the person she liked. However, before she could say Jiang Nianyu's name, Zheng Chu Yao burst in, forcing Lin Xingchen to swallow her words and lament her luck as a "fake princess" whose crucial moments always go awry.
Later that night, Zheng Chu Yao, unable to sleep, grew annoyed when Jiang Nianyu, in his sleep, draped his arm over to Lin Xingchen's side of the makeshift curtain. He forcefully turned Jiang Nianyu over, only for Jiang Nianyu to cling to him, impossible to move. Hearing the commotion from her side, Lin Xingchen's imagination ran wild with romantic scenarios between the two men. However, she soon realized the sounds were far too intense for a fantasy.
Tearing back the curtain, she was shocked to find Daniel fighting both Jiang Nianyu and Zheng Chu Yao. Jiang Nianyu reacted first, pulling Lin Xingchen out of the room to escape. Zheng Chu Yao followed, and Daniel instructed his accomplices to pursue them. The three fled through the streets with Daniel and his men in close pursuit. Zheng Chu Yao, injured during the struggle, was hidden by Jiang Nianyu and Lin Xingchen in a pile of discarded items.
This pause, however, allowed their pursuers to spot the remaining two. They continued their escape, eventually ducking into a nightclub. Daniel and his men followed, searching the crowded venue. As the pursuers drew near, Jiang Nianyu pulled Lin Xingchen into a tight embrace to shield her from view. Just as Daniel approached, his subordinates located a back exit, and he abandoned the search to lead his men out.
Though they had evaded danger, Jiang Nianyu's hugging phobia was triggered by the close contact, and he collapsed. As a worried Lin Xingchen tried to wake him, Zheng Chu Yao explained that Jiang Nianyu developed the phobia after his younger sister died in his arms. It dawned on Lin Xingchen that Jiang Nianyu had knowingly embraced her to protect her, fully aware of the traumatic consequences.
Zheng Chu Yao dismissively called Jiang Nianyu a "sissy," boasting that a "real man" like himself would never faint. Lin Xingchen quickly defended Jiang Nianyu, reminding Zheng Chu Yao that he had just been saved by him. Meanwhile, Daniel reported his failure to Ye Kai, who instructed him to cease the pursuit, revealing that Dolly Corporation had officially declared bankruptcy. Later, Zheng Chu Yao sought out Jiang Nianyu to thank him.
He clarified the comic store misunderstanding, explaining that Lin Xingchen's actions were to protect Jiang Nianyu from her mother, not to flaunt a relationship. Zheng Chu Yao then confessed his deep affection for Lin Xingchen, reflecting on how she reminded him of the spirited Shan Cai from 'Meteor Garden' and how she had matured since meeting Jiang Nianyu. Declaring his intent to seriously pursue her, he challenged Jiang Nianyu to a fair competition.
Deeply moved by the revelation that Lin Xingchen had acted to protect him, an overwhelmed Jiang Nianyu abruptly left. Liang Qifan later informed Lin Xingchen that Jiang Nianyu had missed his flight and the Vienna Music Conservatory's registration deadline while searching for her, sacrificing the opportunity for her sake. When Lin Xingchen asked why, Liang Qifan bluntly replied, "He likes you." Startled, she immediately ran off to find Jiang Nianyu. Lin Xingchen found him on a tree-lined path.
As she began to explain about the comic store, Jiang Nianyu interrupted her with a simple confession: "I like you." Lin Xingchen unhesitatingly reciprocated, telling him she had liked him for a very long time, and they shared a heartfelt kiss. Jiang Nianyu vowed to prove to her mother that he could make her happy, and Lin Xingchen promised to convince her mother to accept their relationship before they reluctantly parted ways.
Back home, Zheng Chu Yao knelt before his father, declaring his love for Lin Xingchen and his determination to be with her. He challenged his father, stating that if the Ru Yao Corporation needed an arranged marriage for stability, it would cast doubt on his father's capabilities, comparing him unfavorably to Chen Ming Li.
Both amused and angered, his father offered a test: Zheng Chu Yao had to spend a year in Northern Europe doing preliminary market expansion work as a regular employee, not a manager. This was the price for being with Lin Xingchen. Zheng Chu Yao readily agreed. Jiang Nianyu escorted Lin Xingchen home, where they shared a reluctant farewell. She entered, planning to persuade her mother, but found the house strangely empty.
Chen Ming Li appeared in loungewear, explaining that she had failed to protect Dolly Corporation and the house, her late husband's legacy. Handing Lin Xingchen the last of their money, she urged her to live the life she wanted with the person she loved. Chen Ming Li admitted that while Lin Xingchen was not her biological daughter, she was the daughter of the man she loved, and she couldn't bear to see her in an unhappy marriage. Overwhelmed with emotion, Lin Xingchen genuinely called her "Mom" for the first time and embraced her tightly.
