A prologue reveals that Princess Lin Xing Chen is under a curse from an evil witch: anyone she likes will not like her in return. In the present, Lin Xing Chen is the sole heiress of the Dolly Group, living the life of a pampered princess.
Her birth mother, Juliet, holds no official status, while her stepmother, Chen Ming Li—her late father's only wife—is her public mother and the true matriarch of the family. Chen Ming Li informs Lin Xing Chen that her fiancé from a childhood arrangement, Zheng Chu Yao, has returned, and she must attend his welcome party to prepare for their marriage in three months. Lin Xing Chen despises the idea, remarking she could only have feelings for him on his funeral day.
Chen Ming Li retorts that marrying him is the price she pays for her lavish life. That evening, Lin Xing Chen arrives at the party. Following Chen Ming Li's instruction to find her "prince" in a white suit on the rooftop, she mistakes Jiang Nianyu, a student hired to play piano, for Zheng Chu Yao. She initiates a piano duet, misinterpreting his silence as shyness, until he bluntly asks her to leave.
The real Zheng Chu Yao then makes a grand entrance, gifting her a lily. The identities are clarified, leading to an awkward situation, made worse when Zheng Chu Yao warns her about lily pollen allergies. When Zheng Chu Yao learns who she is, he remembers their childhood. A flashback reveals a young Lin Xing Chen arrogantly demanding he put on her shoe, leading to him being publicly humiliated and beaten.
Recognizing her as the same "arrogant and willful" girl, he immediately demands to cancel their engagement. He declares he already likes someone else and pulls over Yu Yang Yang, a waitress. Enraged by Lin Xing Chen's attitude, Zheng Chu Yao tries to push her away. In the ensuing struggle, he, Lin Xing Chen, and Yu Yang Yang all fall into the pool. Zheng Chu Yao immediately saves Yu Yang Yang, leaving Lin Xing Chen to drown until Jiang Nianyu dives in to rescue her, ruining his cherished watch in the process. Once safe, a disoriented Lin Xing Chen accuses Jiang Nianyu of being a "pervert" for touching her.
The next day, headlines mock Lin Xing Chen as a "wet drenched chicken" who attempted suicide after being rejected. She refuses to have the articles deleted, vowing revenge. Later, while trying to stage a "coincidental" meeting with Zheng Chu Yao, she runs into Jiang Nianyu and picks up a notebook he drops. She is shocked to discover the mascot is a real person. When the shop owner demands she pay her overdue bill, the man in the bear costume—Jiang Nianyu—pays for her. Grateful, she chases him to get his contact info to repay him, but he flees. She pursues him relentlessly, and during a struggle, her bracelet gets caught on his costume. They are forced to hide and overhear a mysterious conversation about getting rid of "inconvenient people."
A spider on her arm makes Lin Xing Chen scream and run out, colliding with one of the men and accidentally swapping their phones. Back home, Chen Ming Li confronts her with another humiliating headline about her "public tantrum." Infuriated by Zheng Chu Yao, Lin Xing Chen decides to enroll in his school, Four Leaf College, to enact her revenge plan. While trying to find the "bear's" picture on the swapped phone, she finds it locked.
She looks up Jiang Nianyu online and learns he is on a leave of absence from the college, believing she won't see him again. Meanwhile, Jiang Nianyu, remembering her calling him an "ice-block face," practices smiling in a mirror, but finds he cannot. The next day, Lin Xing Chen arrives at Four Leaf College, ready for battle. To her shock, the first person she runs into is Jiang Nianyu.

Forced by his family, a reluctant Zheng Chu Yao picks up Lin Xing Chen for school. In the car, she warns him that Yu Yang Yang might not reciprocate his feelings, which he dismisses. At Four Leaf College, they find Yu Yang Yang talking happily with Jiang Nianyu. A jealous Zheng Chu Yao interrupts, pulling Yu Yang Yang away and questioning Jiang Nianyu.
From their tense exchange and Yu Yang Yang's subsequent comment that she is unhappy to see Jiang Nianyu return, Lin Xing Chen deduces a complex history between the two men and suspects a secret relationship between Jiang Nianyu and Yu Yang Yang. To escape the awkwardness, Yu Yang Yang offers to get coffee, then deliberately fakes a sprained ankle, falling into Zheng Chu Yao’s arms.
As he helps her away, a frustrated Lin Xing Chen laments being sidelined in her own story. Just then, Zhou Wei introduces himself as Zheng Chu Yao’s best friend and president of the "Association of Caring for Women." He dubs Lin Xing Chen his "Venus" and gives her a tour, explaining that Four Leaf College students are either wealthy heirs like Zheng Chu Yao or exceptionally talented individuals like Jiang Nianyu.

Furious that his company's vital data is missing, he orders his subordinate to retrieve the phone at any cost. The subordinate unlocks Lin Xing Chen's phone and, from her photos, identifies her. Determined to win over Zheng Chu Yao, Lin Xing Chen decides to abandon her glamorous look for a simple, "little white flower" style she believes he prefers. She endures a lengthy makeover, skipping meals in her focus to conquer him.
Arriving at the restaurant, Lin Xing Chen finds Yu Yang Yang being bullied by Lei Jia Na, a jewelry heiress, over a supposedly ruined designer bag. Recognizing the bag is a fake, Lin Xing Chen intervenes and exposes Lei Jia Na’s lie. Infuriated at being publicly humiliated, Lei Jia Na viciously insults Lin Xing Chen, attacking her character and declaring that Zheng Chu Yao would never truly love or marry her.
After Lei Jia Na leaves, Yu Yang Yang offers a contrived thank you, but Lin Xing Chen, disgusted by the act, shoves her hand away, causing her to fall. At that exact moment, Zheng Chu Yao arrives. While he acknowledged her artistic qualifications for the college, he noted her academic knowledge was lacking and that he had arranged for a solution. Completely captivated by his presence, Lin Xing Chen barely registered his words, yet readily agreed to whatever he suggested, only afterward wondering what he meant by "starting tonight." Later, while wandering through the college, Lin Xing Chen stumbled upon Jiang Nianyu teaching Yu Yang Yang to play the clarinet.
When Yu Yang Yang briefly stepped out, Lin Xing Chen saw a chance for mischief. She impersonated Yu Yang Yang's voice, feigning an injury to lure Jiang Nianyu out of the room. Once alone, Lin Xing Chen slipped inside and stuffed a crumpled piece of paper into his clarinet. When Jiang Nianyu and Yu Yang Yang returned, his first note sent the paper wad flying into Yu Yang Yang's head.
Jiang Nianyu silently unfolded the paper, which he recognized as a page from Lin Xing Chen's manga sketchbook, and a subtle smile touched his lips. Back home, Lin Xing Chen discovered that Meng Xi's solution was a tutor, who turned out to be Jiang Nianyu. Distraught, she attempted to dismiss him, accusing him of deliberately trying to get closer to her and declaring a relationship between them was impossible. Faced with this counter-blackmail, Lin Xing Chen reluctantly complied. Meanwhile, Lei Jia Na fumed over being publicly shamed by Lin Xing Chen. Zhou Wei approached her, presenting a high-end designer bag as a gift. Overjoyed, Lei Jia Na assumed he wished to reconcile. However, Zhou Wei clarified he was merely comforting an old friend, which infuriated her and sent her chasing him in a fit of rage. The Four Leaf College was forming a symphony orchestra, with Yu Yang Yang assisting with recruitment.
Zheng Chu Yao arrived, stating he was forced to join by his father, who believed participation would enhance their company's image. He comically listed his poor skills on the piano and violin. She wished for her "Bear Knight" to appear, unaware that Jiang Nianyu was following silently behind her. When a thief attempted to snatch her bag, Jiang Nianyu swiftly intervened, chasing the culprit away before Lin Xing Chen even noticed. He continued to watch her from afar as she, oblivious to his intervention, picked up a fallen flower from the ground, a quiet guardian in the background.
The school announced a celebration for the graduating seniors, which would include a dance where all students were required to participate. Zhou Wei called Lin Xing Chen, inviting her to be his dance partner. She, however, quickly informed him that her designated partner was Zheng Chu Yao, despite Zhou Wei's skepticism. During equestrian class, the students were surprised to learn that Jiang Nianyu, a former global equestrian champion, was the new assistant instructor. His presence caused a stir among the female students. Lin Xing Chen arrived late and tried to feign illness, but Jiang Nianyu sent her away to rest. After a half-day of volunteering, Lin Xing Chen gloated to Jiang Nianyu that the children preferred her over his "Ice Cube Face" persona. He then led her outside and onto a bus, ignoring her complaints about the sun and her high heels. They disembarked at the Four Leaf College campus, where Jiang Nianyu revealed he was going to teach her how to dance. Lin Xing Chen struggled initially, but he encouraged her to trust her partner and not obsess over perfection. Meanwhile, Zheng Chu Yao, unable to ask about Lin Xing Chen’s dance progress himself due to his pride, urges Zhou Wei to call her. When Zhou Wei refuses, Liang Qi Fan takes Zheng Chu Yao's phone and makes the call. Lin Xing Chen answers excitedly, but Jiang Nianyu, who is tutoring her, snatches the phone out of jealousy, reminds her that calls are forbidden during class, and hangs up.
The next day, Zheng Chu Yao questions Lin Xing Chen about the male voice he heard. She lies, claiming it was their butler, Uncle De, but Zheng Chu Yao is skeptical. That night, he makes a surprise visit to her mansion. Alerted just in time, Lin Xing Chen shoves Jiang Nianyu into a bookshelf to hide him. He seems to leave, only to return unexpectedly, forcing Lin Xing Chen and Jiang Nianyu back into the cramped bookshelf. When they finally emerge, they find Zheng Chu Yao sitting at the piano, stunning all three of them. Following the encounter, a jealous Zheng Chu Yao vehemently denies his feelings to his friends, reaffirms his preference for Yu Yang Yang, and orders 100 roses to be sent to her.
Lin Xing Chen blames Jiang Nianyu for the incident, but he coldly reminds her that he is only her tutor and not responsible for her "messy love life." Feeling down, Lin Xing Chen visits the Three Bears Book Store for a "big frustration meal," only to find the Bear Knight is absent. The owner explains he is in a bad mood and taking the day off.
She also gives Lin Xing Chen a flyer for an upcoming collaboration between the store and Four Leaf College, which Lin Xing Chen agrees to support while lamenting how frustrating all men are. Elsewhere, Chen Ming Li discovers an acquaintance, Zhu Li Ya, has used her private beauty card without permission. Chen Ming Li angrily confronts her and firmly dismisses Zhu Li Ya’s attempts to use her connection with Lin Xing Chen as leverage.
Later, Jiang Nianyu is at the children's hospital telling a story to the children in a monotonous, unengaging manner when Lin Xing Chen arrives. She criticizes his delivery and takes over, captivating the children with her animated storytelling. Unconsciously, Jiang Nianyu watches her with a soft gaze and a subtle smile. Back home, he tries to practice smiling in a mirror but finds the expression unnatural.
Zheng Chu Yao decides to prank Lin Xing Chen by putting a large insect in her toothbrush cup. While in her room, he discovers a membership card for the Three Bears Book Store and junk food flyers in her closet. Amused by this contrast to her public image, he realizes he has a secret he can use against her. Lin Xing Chen, bewildered by how he could know her habits, begins to suspect that he is the Bear Knight.
When the book store sets up a promotional event at the college, Zheng Chu Yao sees the flyer and decides to investigate further to uncover more of her secrets. Lin Xing Chen finds him and vaguely asks if he has a secret hobby, like dressing up as a bear. Misunderstanding completely, Zheng Chu Yao assumes she’s talking about the insect prank and brazenly admits to it, calling it a "lesson."
Believing he has just confessed to being the Bear Knight, Lin Xing Chen apologizes. Zheng Chu Yao, still thinking about her defiance, accepts her apology but threatens to expose her "secret" if she gets close to other men. To test if he would still protect her now that his "identity" is revealed, Lin Xing Chen fakes a fall from her horse. Zheng Chu Yao rushes over in concern but, upon realizing it's a trick, walks away annoyed, reiterating his threat.
As Lin Xing Chen tries to follow him, she genuinely sprains her ankle. Stranded and scared as night falls, she calls for help until the Bear Knight appears. Relieved, she leans against him, murmuring, "Zheng Chu Yao," believing her prince has rescued her. The Bear Knight, who is actually Jiang Nianyu, hears her words, and his heart sinks.

Two students were seen harassing another student in the academy, demanding money from him, when Zheng Chu Yao intervened, asserting his territory and ordering them to leave. Witnessing this, Lin Xing Chen became even more convinced that Zheng Chu Yao was her "Bear Knight." Shortly after, she inadvertently bumped into Jiang Nianyu, spilling her milk tea and staining her clothes. Jiang Nianyu took off his jacket and draped it over her, telling her not to move.
Lin Xing Chen, initially stunned, quickly remembered her urgency to find Zheng Chu Yao, complaining that he disappeared so quickly. Unbeknownst to her, a hidden observer overheard her declaration that Zheng Chu Yao was the Bear Knight. Lin Xing Chen caught up with Zheng Chu Yao and insisted they go home together. Their path was suddenly blocked by a group of men, one of whom brandished a gun and forced them to follow.
Quick-thinking Lin Xing Chen, while appearing frightened, secretly dialed Jiang Nianyu's number. Speaking loudly, she strategically provided details of their location by mentioning landmarks like the student store and the parking lot. However, her relief turns to fear when the man removes the costume head, revealing himself to be a drunken homeless man who then begins to menace her. At that critical moment, the real Jiang Nianyu arrives, quickly deals with the drunkard, and rescues her.
Overcome with relief and gratitude, Lin Xing Chen impulsively embraces Jiang Nianyu. However, his "embrace phobia" immediately takes hold, and he begins to gasp for air. Too absorbed in her excitement, Lin Xing Chen doesn't notice his distress, and he soon goes limp, collapsing to the ground. Panicked, Lin Xing Chen cries out for help. Meanwhile, Yu Yang Yang has a frank conversation with Zheng Chu Yao.
She tells him that she doesn't like him, and more importantly, that he doesn't truly like her either.
