In a childhood memory, a young Lin Yang and her female classmates frequently brought Lu Zhengan along to steal fruit. When they were discovered, Lin Yang quickly pulled Lu Zhengan away, initiating their first adventure together. Though it ended in failure, they each earned a unique, unforgettable "Order of Merit" that belonged only to them. Years later, Lin Yang is lost in thought at the office, and Yao Dan notices her unusually red ears.
Li Tian then approaches, cheerfully informing Lin Yang that she has sent all meeting records, the previous week's work summary, and the next phase's work plan to her email. Meanwhile, Lu Zhengan seeks out Xie Nanke, bluntly telling him to stop pursuing Lin Yang. He demands that Xie Nanke cease offering her secret warmth or using him as a pretense to show kindness.
Lu Zhengan declares that he is back now and, having fallen in love, has become acutely sensitive to any hint related to Lin Yang. Xie Nanke challenges Lu Zhengan's right to make such demands, reminding him of a past promise and arguing that relationships are not as simple as Lu Zhengan perceives.
Lu Zhengan firmly counters that his relationship with Lin Yang is simple and urges Xie Nanke to either pursue her openly and fairly or stay away if he doesn't truly love her. He stresses that he cannot stand anyone using Lin Yang to kill time, especially Xie Nanke. Xie Nanke predicts that Lin Yang will never accept Lu Zhengan and that he will only delay her happiness.
Lu Zhengan defiantly responds that this would be ideal, as it would leave Lin Yang with no other choice but him in the end. Lin Yang spends the day distracted, haunted by the memory of seemingly kissing Lu Zhengan the night before. Her colleagues, Yao Dan and Cao Ling, gossip about Li Tian's sudden politeness towards Lin Yang, concluding she must be "love-struck" over Lu Zhengan.
Their conversation is interrupted when Li Tian calls Bai Luo Cheng away just as they were about to invite him for lunch. Later, in the elevator on her way to a meeting, Lin Yang encounters Bai Luo Cheng and Li Tian, and instinctively ignores a call from Lu Zhengan. During the meeting, Mr. Hua reveals the urgent and tricky task of securing a brand ambassador for Osler's new product.
The target, a singer named Lu Zhengan, is not yet famous but has a notoriously difficult temperament and has already rejected several companies. Li Tian confidently volunteers, stating that she and Lu Zhengan are schoolmates and very close. Lin Yang, however, argues that Lu Zhengan likely has valid reasons for his refusals, probably being busy with his new album. Despite Lin Yang's objections and proposal for alternative artists, Mr. Hua assigns the task to Li Tian.
Following the meeting, Li Tian basks in her colleagues' attention, hinting at a relationship with Lu Zhengan and promising an autograph. In the restroom, Lin Yang confronts her, but Li Tian retorts that Lin Yang is the one mixing personal and professional matters, accusing her of jealousy. Li Tian arranges to meet Lu Zhengan's manager, Ma Le. Believing the meeting was arranged by Lin Yang, Lu Zhengan decides to tag along.
Upon arriving and seeing Li Tian instead, Lu Zhengan's disappointment is palpable. He immediately turns to leave, and though Li Tian chases after him to propose a business partnership, he vehemently states he wants nothing to do with her. That evening, Lin Yang drinks alone while Lu Zhengan waits for her at home, recalling the previous night. A tipsy Lin Yang had caressed his face and, after asking about his lipstick color, boldly kissed him to get the "same color."
Lu Zhengan had been secretly thrilled. Before leaving the bar, Lin Yang clarifies to the proprietress that Lu Zhengan is "not my brother." Seeing the lights on in her apartment, knowing the person everyone wants to see is waiting for her, fills Lin Yang with a satisfying sense of vanity. When she arrives, Lu Zhengan asks why Li Tian showed up at the meeting.
He reveals that Li Tian is not only his old schoolmate but also Mr. Hua's sister-in-law, surprising Lin Yang. He confesses he didn't discuss the collaboration at all because he had expected Lin Yang. This sends Lin Yang into a fantasy: if it had been her, Lu Zhengan might have agreed, and she could have been promoted to project director. However, she worries she wouldn't be able to control herself with him around constantly.
The dispute between Li Tian and Lin Yang becomes a hot topic at the office, with gossipers attributing the conflict to Lin Yang's jealousy. Bai Luo Cheng angrily shuts down the gossip. Later, when Lin Yang asks Li Tian to analyze some documents, Li Tian refuses. Lin Yang pulls her into a meeting room for a private discussion, where Li Tian accuses her of sabotaging the deal with Lu Zhengan and threatens her job.
Lin Yang retorts that Li Tian is childish for not understanding that Lu Zhengan, who comes from a wealthy family like hers, makes decisions based on his mood and values people over business. Just then, Lu Zhengan calls to say he's downstairs to drop off the house keys he forgot. Hearing that they live together, Li Tian explodes with jealousy and throws a stack of files at Lin Yang's back. Moments later, Lu Zhengan enters the company.
The receptionist, recognizing him and assuming he is there for Li Tian, informs him that she is in a fight and directs him to the meeting room. Rushing in, Lu Zhengan finds Lin Yang disheveled while an enraged, red-eyed Li Tian is being restrained by colleagues. He steps into the chaos and dryly remarks, "Are we done here? The hero has arrived to save the damsel in distress."
