My Calorie Boy Episode 6 Recap
> My Calorie Boy Recap
During a crucial Taekwondo competition, Xu Jingjing was momentarily distracted by Kang Jiawei's advice to be like a legendary fighter, causing her opponent, Gao Zhan, to knock her down. However, she then recalled the core of Kang Jiawei's message: to focus solely on the match, as a serious competitor like Gao Zhan only respects a true fight.
Regaining her composure, Xu Jingjing channeled her full strength and defeated Gao Zhan, earning widespread applause and a bounty of snacks for her and her classmates. Afterward, when Xu Jingjing asked if she was like "The Rock" Johnson, Kang Jiawei compared her to Tsukushi from a popular drama, who captures the male lead's heart only after fighting him. Their celebration was interrupted by Ni Dapeng and his friends from Class 6, who taunted Class 3 as "good-for-nothings."
Gao Zhan immediately stood up for his class, and a fierce wager was made for the upcoming sports day: if Class 3 wins more gold medals, Class 6 must crawl two laps around the stadium shouting "Class 3 is the best." If Class 6 wins, Class 3 must address them as "Daddy" whenever they meet. In preparation for the sports day, Class 3 strategized on how to overcome Class 6.
Gao Zhan analyzed their opponents' strengths and noted that even if they won all their best events, it would only result in a tie, highlighting the need for a "breakthrough" event. Xu Jingjing, confident from her Taekwondo training, volunteered for the women's 800-meter and the relay. The topic of the sports day emcees came up, with students noting that the female emcee, Xu Jingjing, and Gao Zhan were the traditional hosts, even earning the couple nickname "Jingzhan."
Kang Jiawei learned that anyone could register to be an emcee and that Gao Zhan had decided not to participate this year. This piqued Kang Jiawei's interest, and he immediately declared his candidacy, enlisting Xu Jingjing's help with campaign photos. Despite being annoyed by his specific demands for editing, she had to admit he had become much more handsome. Ni Dapeng also entered the emcee race, becoming Kang Jiawei's direct rival.
When the election results were announced, the female emcee won her position handily. For the male emcee, Kang Jiawei was initially declared the winner with 1,145 votes, but Ni Dapeng then revealed a suspicious total of 14,000 votes. Xu Jingjing immediately exposed his fraud, pointing out that the school only had 1,500 students and that his vote count had spiked unnaturally overnight. Cornered, Ni Dapeng admitted to rigging the votes.
Kang Jiawei was officially confirmed as the winner and celebrated by formally ending his bet with Xu Jingjing, freeing her from her "house-elf" duties. Both resolved to use the sports day as a chance to improve their relationships: Kang Jiawei with the female emcee and Xu Jingjing with Gao Zhan. On the school field, Class 6 continued to taunt Class 3, specifically targeting Xiong Shuai, which escalated into a physical fight. Their teacher, Miss Chen, intervened, expressing disappointment.
While admitting she understood their anger, she urged them to channel their frustration into winning honorably at the sports day. In response to Gao Zhan’s candid assessment that their chances of winning were slim, Xu Jingjing made a bold proposal: she would enter the mini-marathon, the sports day's final event. She challenged the unwritten rule that barred female students, arguing it was unfair and contradicted the school's motto of "freedom, equality, wisdom, and creativity."
Inspired, many of her female classmates also pledged to sign up. When Gao Zhan expressed concern about a strong runner from Class 6, Xu Jingjing confidently dismissed his worry. Kang Jiawei enthusiastically supported her, vowing to treat the entire class to Häagen-Dazs if she won.
Xu Jingjing’s attempt to register for the mini-marathon was flatly rejected by Mr. Zhang, the head of student affairs, who cited "tradition" and belittled her for neglecting her studies, reminding her she was still ranked last academically. Frustrated, she took Kang Jiawei’s suggestion to start a petition. Xu Jingjing drafted a compelling letter appealing to the school's core values and began collecting signatures from female students, while Kang Jiawei rallied support from the boys.
Meanwhile, Miss Chen advocated for Xu Jingjing to Mr. Zhang, but he remained inflexible, defending tradition and accusing Miss Chen of being young and naive. He warned that accommodating students would only lead them to "cross the line" and told her to focus on academics instead of "nonsense." The disagreement between Miss Chen and Mr. Zhang escalated into a heated argument. Mr. Zhang arrogantly asserted that his judgments, backed by years of experience, were never wrong.
Miss Chen boldly countered that his judgments only seemed correct because no one ever dared to object. Later, a frustrated Miss Chen was seen venting her anger on a training dummy at the Taekwondo club. While she worried about gossip among teachers, she found solace in knowing some colleagues admired her courage.
The confrontation solidified her conviction: she had to believe in her own principles before she could guide her students, and if Mr. Zhang’s rigid views didn't make sense to her, they certainly wouldn't to them. Meanwhile, the female emcee asked Kang Jiawei to rehearse their hosting script. Nervous, Kang Jiawei asked Xu Jingjing to accompany him, but she had to deliver the petition to Mr. Zhang.
During their rehearsal, Kang Jiawei’s attempts to connect with the female emcee through pop culture references, such as "Friends" and a rock music playlist featuring Linkin Park and Queen, fell flat, revealing a significant gap in their interests. Xu Jingjing delivered the signed petition to Mr. Zhang, who remained dismissive. Kang Jiawei arrived to support her, prompting Mr. Zhang to threaten his emcee position.
Angered by this injustice, Kang Jiawei impulsively declared he would quit his role if female students were not allowed to participate fairly. Though he later privately regretted his rashness, he remained committed to helping Xu Jingjing. When he met the female emcee to apologize for backing out, he was surprised to find she wasn't upset. Instead, she was deeply moved by his willingness to sacrifice his position for the cause and offered her full support.
