After finishing a work discussion, Xia Qian and Hao Siyuan reminisced about their childhood, expressing a shared fondness for those simpler times. Hao Siyuan recalled a memory of Xia Qian, at eight years old, winning a tree-climbing contest against several boys but then being too afraid to come down. Xia Qian confirmed the story, remembering that she eventually claimed she was waiting to watch the sunset, and it was Hao Siyuan who found a ladder to help her down.

He told her that he missed her more than just the past. Hao Siyuan suggested they have dinner together that night, offering to book a restaurant, but Xia Qian invited him to her house instead, promising to cook anything he desired.

Meanwhile, Mu Xiaoyan called An An, relaying the news that Xia Qian had invited Hao Siyuan to her home for dinner and speculated that Hao Siyuan was planning to confess his feelings, even incorporating Xia Qian as the hero's "childhood sweetheart, the most beautiful woman in the jianghu" into his game. As An An spoke loudly on the phone, Sheng Zhening emerged from his office, overhearing the conversation.

An An, despite expressing helplessness to Mu Xiaoyan, deliberately raised his voice, recounting the details of Hao Siyuan's impending confession to Xia Qian, ensuring Sheng Zhening would hear. Sheng Zhening, already agitated from the previous night's sight of Hao Siyuan driving Xia Qian home in the rain, grew more restless and found it impossible to concentrate on work. Later that evening, as they shared a meal, Hao Siyuan presented Xia Qian with a music box.

He explained it played a melody she had played for his eleventh birthday, which he had secretly recorded. He confessed his feelings, asking her to be his girlfriend. Xia Qian, however, gently declined, stating that her heart already belonged to someone else. Although disappointed, Hao Siyuan respected her decision, assuring her that their professional partnership would remain unaffected and wishing her happiness.

That same night, Sheng Zhening, consumed by worry, rushed to Xia Qian’s building, only to witness her and Hao Siyuan hugging goodbye. Misinterpreting their embrace as an acceptance of Hao Siyuan's proposal, Sheng Zhening fell into despair and drowned his sorrows in alcohol. He then instructed An An to book him a flight to Yungang for the following day, citing a business trip to transfer a vegetable base to secure funds for Changsheng amidst an intense price war with Langyue.

An An discussed the situation with Mu Xiaoyan, lamenting that Sheng Zhening was effectively running away, making their efforts to unite him and Xia Qian even more challenging, and suggesting that fate was working against them. Before leaving the country for Norway on a new project, where he planned to stay for two years, Hao Siyuan sought out Xia Qian. He candidly asked her if Sheng Zhening was the person in her heart, which she confirmed.

Hao Siyuan explained he had investigated out of curiosity about who he had lost to. He then revealed that the doll at the amusement park during their recent offline research was, in fact, Sheng Zhening in disguise. He admitted he initially hadn't intended to tell her but realized it was important for her to know that Sheng Zhening also cared for her. Hao Siyuan's revelation stunned Xia Qian.

She rushed home and overheard her mother telling Ai about the night Xia Qian was drunk, mentioning that Sheng Zhening had brought her home. Xia Qian immediately contacted An An, asking for surveillance footage from outside Sheng Zhening's room on that night. After watching the video, which confirmed Sheng Zhening's actions, Xia Qian was convinced of his feelings for her.

She headed to Changsheng to find him but was informed by An An via phone that Sheng Zhening had already left for Yungang. Determined, Xia Qian called her friend Fu Shuangshuang, whose mother ran an inn in Yungang, and made arrangements to go there immediately, vowing not to return until she found Sheng Zhening.

Upon learning that Xia Qian was en route to Yungang, Sheng Zhening, agitated by An An's defiance in revealing his location, promptly checked out of his hotel to avoid her. While walking, he was enthusiastically recruited by Fu Shuangshuang's mother, who was soliciting guests for her inn. Unable to refuse her warmth, Sheng Zhening agreed to stay in Room 104, unaware that it was adjacent to Xia Qian’s room.

An An, meanwhile, worried about his job but remained hopeful for Sheng Zhening and Xia Qian’s reconciliation. During her stay at the inn, Xia Qian was well looked after by Fu Shuangshuang's mother. Noting Xia Qian's evident sadness, Fu Shuangshuang's mother tried to set her up with the guest in Room 104, whom she also believed was nursing a broken heart. Xia Qian politely declined.

When Fu Shuangshuang's mother left to attend her sister's birthday party, she entrusted Xia Qian with looking after the inn and delivering lunch to the guest in Room 104. Xia Qian delivered the meal, knocking on the door but leaving the tray on the table outside when no one answered, inadvertently missing another opportunity to meet Sheng Zhening, who opened his door only after she had left.

Days passed, and Xia Qian grew increasingly frustrated, unable to find Sheng Zhening and realizing he was intentionally avoiding her. After sending a message to An An for an update, she suddenly saw Sheng Zhening's retreating figure. She rushed out to find him, but he was gone. Fu Shuangshuang's mother came over, finding Xia Qian unable to suppress her emotions.

Xia Qian tearfully confessed her deep longing for Sheng Zhening and her heartbreak over his avoidance, explaining she just wanted to clear things up. Unknown to Xia Qian, Sheng Zhening, who had returned from purchasing ingredients for dinner, overheard her entire emotional outpouring from a secluded corner. Meanwhile, Ning Meng visited He Zhijuan in the hospital.

Noting his improved health, she began to discuss the cakes he had ordered under the name "Little Mousse," revealing she had deduced his identity from his notebook, where he had written about naming their future child "Little Mousse." She confessed that she had deliberately sent the last few messages, including the one ending their communication.

Ning Meng then proposed a divorce, stating she had thought things through and believed it was better to set each other free from their painful entanglement. He Zhijuan signed the divorce agreement, and Ning Meng reflected on their journey from a passionate beginning to a calm separation. He Zhijuan explained he chose the name "Little Mousse" because he remembered her fondness for mousse cake. Ning Meng struggled to maintain her composure, finally breaking down in tears after leaving his room.
