My Bargain Queen Episode 33 Recap
> My Bargain Queen Recaps
Sheng Zhening was facing professional difficulties; a significant order from Jianong Group, a key client, was unexpectedly secured by Langyue Hotel at an inflated price, leaving him in a state of exhaustion that eventually caused him to fall ill with a fever. Meanwhile, Xia Qian was deeply absorbed in addressing feedback issues for her application software. Her colleagues noted her intense work ethic, mentioning she had been working "overtime these days" due to "much feedback on the App."
Some speculated she was awaiting Sheng Zhening, who had previously picked her up from work on several occasions. She received an urgent phone call from An An, requesting her presence at Sheng Zhening’s room. Rushing there, Xia Qian nearly fainted from a sudden drop in blood sugar, but fortunately, she had the candy Sheng Zhening had once prepared for her, which proved to be a lifesaver.
Upon her arrival, An An informed Xia Qian about Sheng Zhening's condition, explaining that he had fallen ill from overwork. An An detailed how Sheng Zhening had been "busy every day" without rest after "Langyue took away the order" from Jianong Group, a pivotal client, which had ultimately led to his fever. Seeing Sheng Zhening lying pale in bed, Xia Qian was filled with concern. She stayed by his side, tending to him carefully throughout the night.
During his feverish state, Sheng Zhening spoke in his sleep, murmuring, "Why is it you?" These words deeply distressed Xia Qian, as they underscored the profound impact the past incident still had on him. As his fever receded, Xia Qian discreetly instructed An An, "Don't tell him that I came to see him today," reasoning that while they would "get back together," "not now." Unaware, she left her candy box on the sofa in his room.
Shortly after Xia Qian departed, Sheng Zhening awoke. He instructed An An to arrange a 9:30 meeting for the Marketing Dept. , dismissing An An's suggestion that he rest for a few days, saying his "fever is gone" and he was "fine." He then asked An An if Xia Qian had visited him the previous night.
Following Xia Qian's request, An An denied her presence, attributing Sheng Zhening's faint memory to a dream and mentioning that he had called Miss Xia's name in his sleep. Concurrently, Mu Xiaoyan, observing Xia Qian's relentless work schedule and concerned for her health, decided to seek Fu Shuangshuang's help.
He called Fu Shuangshuang, explaining that Xia Qian was "working like crazy" on a "new remedial group order plan" for Changsheng and needed assistance with "data modeling," which he and Ai were unfamiliar with. Upon learning of her best friend's predicament, Fu Shuangshuang requested a few days off from Qin Hebo.
She confidently asserted her belief that Qin Hebo was not involved in Langyue's acquisition of the Jianong Group order, adding that she trusted his intention to reconcile with Sheng Zhening. Qin Hebo confirmed that Langyue's securing the Jianong Group order was "basically a loss" for their company, which he also found "strange." He informed her he was "looking into it" and would "let you know if I have any news."
Fu Shuangshuang's arrival brought a renewed energy to Xia Qian's studio, "Worth Or Not." With her assistance, Xia Qian was able to complete her tasks swiftly, feeling a measure of calm return to her. Mr. Wang commended Xia Qian's meticulously crafted group order plan, remarking on its potential to "make a big difference in our performance" if launched before the holidays. Xia Qian then asked him to deliver the plan to Sheng Zhening, insisting on adhering to company procedures.
On her way home, Xia Qian suffered another low blood sugar episode. Reaching for her candy, she realized her candy box was missing, and she subsequently collapsed in the street. Meanwhile, after receiving the group order plan from Mr. Wang, Sheng Zhening was asked about an "engagement gift" Mr. Wang had given him and Xia Qian. Sheng Zhening appeared perplexed, prompting An An to quickly remind him of another meeting to avoid an awkward conversation.
Fortunately, Xia Qian's mother, who was on her way to bring chicken soup, discovered her daughter collapsed and rushed her to the hospital. Xia Qian's mother expressed deep worry, asking, "You don't sleep and you don't eat. Where else will you end up in but the hospital? Don't you know you have low blood sugar?" While recovering in the hospital, Xia Qian declined her mother's suggestion to contact Sheng Zhening, citing his busy schedule.
Back in his room, Sheng Zhening found the candy box on his sofa, confirming Xia Qian's visit. He confronted An An, who then confessed that Xia Qian had indeed cared for him throughout the night when he had a fever, only leaving after he was better, and had specifically asked her to keep it a secret.
An An also relayed news from Mu Xiaoyan that Xia Qian had "passed out in front of Worth Or Not" while working on her plan but was now home and recovering. Concerned, Sheng Zhening immediately drove to Xia Qian's home, but her mother intercepted him, requesting a private conversation without Xia Qian's knowledge. She initiated the discussion by apologizing for "your father's car accident," then directly asked Sheng Zhening, "Can you really let it go?"
Xia Qian's mother further elaborated on her concerns, expressing doubt that even if Sheng Zhening believed he could move past the car accident, Xia Qian, her daughter, with her "one-track mind," "may not be able to let it go." She questioned whether such a situation would be beneficial for their relationship. She acknowledged their challenging journey, remarking, "You are a good boy.
I do like you," and admitted that had the incident not occurred, she would have seen him as an ideal son-in-law. However, she confessed that "I don't have the confidence to support you two to be together" now. She distinguished marriage from passionate love, warning that in a marriage, inevitable conflicts would arise.
She worried that Xia Qian, driven by guilt, "won't argue with you" but would instead "hide all her true feelings," silently enduring to "maintain your marriage," which she believed would preclude true happiness. As a "selfish" mother, she stated she did not want her daughter "to live in remorse and guilt." She concluded by asking Sheng Zhening to "break up with Xia Qian" and "bring it up first," suggesting it would be "better to end it sooner than later."
After considerable contemplation, Sheng Zhening reached a decision. He called Xia Qian, who was sitting outside enjoying the fresh air, to ask if she was available the following day, stating he had "something to tell you." Xia Qian agreed. The next day, hopeful for reconciliation, Xia Qian canceled a client meeting with Mr. Hu from Meiyang Cosmetics, who was due to fly to Japan, and even took the time to meticulously dress up for her meeting with Sheng Zhening.
Mu Xiaoyan, hearing about the meeting, inquired with An An about Sheng Zhening's intentions. An An, observing Sheng Zhening's worried reaction to Xia Qian's recent illness, confidently predicted they would "get back together." Mu Xiaoyan expressed relief, having been "worried that something bad would happen." However, when they met, Sheng Zhening delivered a preemptive blow, saying, "Xia Qian, let's break up."
He explained that his father's car accident remained "deeply rooted in my heart" and was "an obstacle that neither of us can move on from." He concluded that "it's better to end it sooner" than to prolong a relationship burdened by an "unsolved problem." Xia Qian, initially stunned, quickly composed herself. She thanked Sheng Zhening for his kindness, stating, "I've been having a great time being with you. I'm happy. I will cherish it."
She then removed her engagement ring and returned it to him. Sheng Zhening took the ring and departed, appearing emotionless, yet his heart was as pained as Xia Qian's. An An, noticing his distraught demeanor, drove him silently back to Changsheng. Xia Qian remained in the restaurant, heartbroken. Later, back at the studio, Mu Xiaoyan confronted An An, "Didn't you say that Mr. Sheng wants to make up with Qian? How did they break up?"
An An, equally perplexed, replied, "How would I know? By reason, they should get back together." Mu Xiaoyan expressed regret, saying, "I shouldn't have listened to you. When Qian left, I even asked her to dress up. Who knows Sheng Zhening would do such a thing?" An An also noted that Sheng Zhening was not faring well either, having locked himself in his office after returning.
The emotional turmoil of the breakup was further intensified for Xia Qian when she received a phone call from the wedding dress company. They informed her they had "forgot to deliver the veil of your wedding dress to you" and asked if they should mail it to her previous address. After a long pause, Xia Qian quietly replied, "You don't need to send it."
