Bai Yongze, despite his inner pain, coldly tells Song Chacha to resign as his private chef, claiming she hinders his Olympic dream and that he needs no distractions for an important competition. Song Chacha, believing he is hiding something, questions if the separation is temporary or permanent, but Bai Yongze avoids her questions and says hurtful things. However, Song Chacha senses he is lying and has a hidden reason.
Still convinced Bai Yongze has a secret, Song Chacha continues to prepare meals for him. She tries to remind him of their secret rendezvous by wearing the "magic shoes" they agreed upon for meeting in the small forest, even dropping groceries to make him notice. Bai Yongze pretends not to see.
Song Chacha waits all day at their agreed spot, but Bai Yongze, internally bitter about giving her up, vents his frustration in his room and sets a goal to break world records, never appearing. Song Chacha confronts Bai Yongze, asking if he forgot their agreement. He confirms he did not, but declares a permanent breakup, stating he cannot keep promises and swimming is more important, urging her to forget him.
Song Chacha refuses, promising to obey him and not bother him, just not break up. Bai Yongze almost softens but, upon receiving a call from Li Bao, pretends to reconcile with Li Bao to make Song Chacha give up and leave, telling her never to reappear. He forces himself to be an emotionless robot. Devastated by the breakup, both Song Chacha and Bai Yongze fall ill with high fevers, separately dreaming of regretting the breakup and reconciling.
Lan Tian takes a sick Song Chacha home and later sees a sick Bai Yongze, feeling jealous. He pretends ignorance to avoid hearing Song Chacha speak of waiting for Bai Yongze. Bai Yongze sends afternoon tea to Li Bao's filming set, making headlines, and quits psychological therapy. He tells Ms. Fang he has found the root of his problems and only wants to train, refusing her help.
The next day, he appears for training, acting normal and pretending to be close with Lan Tian to hide any issues. Huang Donglei tries to talk to Bai Yongze about therapy, but Bai Yongze is indifferent. Meanwhile, Song Chacha, heartbroken, is found crying outside Bai Yongze's room. Lan Tian takes her into his room, comforting her and urging her to forget Bai Yongze, suggesting she does not truly know him.
Song Chacha's mother and Uncle Kong, grateful for Lan Tian's continuous help, arrange a dinner for him at a resort. Luo Guanjie invites Bai Yongze to the same dinner. Song Chacha confronts Bai Yongze there, pulling him out to demand an explanation for their breakup.
