Coach Huang, utterly ashamed after being detained by Lan Xin and made to bark like a dog, now avoids everyone. Meanwhile, Bai Yongze, troubled by a photo from Song Chacha's wallet, embarks on an investigation into Zhihao's past. He questions a convenience store owner, a key witness from eleven years ago, showing him Song Chacha's and his own childhood photos. Bai Yongze becomes convinced that he was the one who instigated the swimming competition that led to Zhihao's drowning.
Overwhelmed by this realization, he is filled with self-blame and walks into the sea, contemplating taking his own life. The convenience store owner intervenes, pulling him back and offering him shelter for the night. Bai Yongze spends the night despondently by the sea. At the resort, Song Chacha prepares food for Bai Yongze. However, when she goes to his room, she finds Li Bao, who deceptively claims Bai Yongze is showering with her (or her agent, to mislead Song Chacha).
Feeling angry and jealous, Song Chacha leaves. Later, Zhao Yan informs her that Bai Yongze took a day off, clarifying the misunderstanding and relieving Song Chacha. That night, Song Chacha is startled awake by a nightmare of Bai Yongze walking into the sea, though she initially dismisses it, thinking he is merely home. An earlier incident of her shoe heel breaking also leaves her feeling uneasy, intensifying her fear that Bai Yongze might encounter trouble or pass out again.
Later, Reporter Xu also visits the convenience store owner, inquiring about Bai Yongze's investigation. Initially, the owner cannot definitively confirm Bai Yongze's involvement. After Reporter Xu leaves, the owner finds Bai Yongze's forgotten childhood photo and realizes that Bai Yongze was "not" the boy who challenged Zhihao. Reporter Xu learns this new information and calls Lan Tian, suspecting his involvement or attempting to gain leverage.
Lan Tian, fearing exposure regarding Zhihao's death and desiring Song Chacha, either threatens Reporter Xu with facts or promises him benefits to prevent any report on Bai Yongze. Following Reporter Xu's call, Lan Tian contacts Bai Yongze, finds him, and comforts him as Bai Yongze confesses his profound guilt. Lan Tian advises Bai Yongze to calm down, forget Song Chacha and the past, and focus solely on swimming.
Bai Yongze, accepting that he cannot be with Song Chacha, decides to push her away, asking Lan Tian to take care of her so she won't be hurt. Upon his return, Bai Yongze becomes notably cold towards Song Chacha, refusing her cooked meals and ignoring her. Despite her deep concern and longing, Song Chacha tries to respect his space. However, Bai Yongze asks her to resign, stating that she would hinder his swimming.
Song Chacha firmly asserts that she would never interfere. In a separate development, Luo Guanjie places a bottle of milk in Bai Yongze's locker with a note. His initial words are unpleasant, making Jiang Shi believe he is seeking trouble. However, after Bai Yongze reads the note and drinks the milk, Luo Guanjie thanks him, signifying the beginning of a friendship.
