Mr. Honesty Episode 7 Recap
> Mr. Honesty Recap
Following his previous argument with Xu Yiren, Fang Zhiyou is approached by Gu Bo, who pleads for Xu Yiren’s reinstatement. Gu Bo suggests a pay dock or a fine instead of firing her, revealing that Xu Yiren has spent days creating a detailed architectural model for the Huaxing project in an attempt to atone for her mistake.
Fang Zhiyou dismisses the plea, citing the gentleman's agreement with Gu Bo's father that forbids interference in company decisions and advising Gu Bo to focus on his work instead of chasing after Xia Di. Despite Gu Bo’s insistence that Xu Yiren is genuinely trying to make amends, Fang Zhiyou coldly states that some mistakes cannot be rectified.
Meanwhile, Xu Yiren is on a video call with Sha Sha while waiting outside the Huaxing office, hoping to show the model to Mr. Huang. Hearing that Sha Sha is temporarily filling in as Fang Zhiyou's assistant, Xu Yiren provides a detailed guide to his demanding routine: preparing his caramel Americano without milk by 8:50 AM, reviewing his schedule first thing, and subtly forcing him to take breaks by bringing minor matters for his approval.
Racked with guilt, Sha Sha confesses to Fang Zhiyou. She explains that while helping Xu Yiren get ready for the bidding conference, she accidentally swapped Xu Yiren's U-disk with a blank one of her own, as they all looked identical. She only found the correct U-disk with the design proposal under a desk later. Tearfully, Sha Sha admits she stayed silent out of fear of being fired but was inspired by Xu Yiren's words about taking responsibility for one's mistakes.
At Huaxing, Xu Yiren’s attempt to present the model is met with contempt from Mr. Huang, who shoves her and sends the model crashing to the floor. Just then, Fang Zhiyou arrives, having heard Sha Sha's confession. He sternly orders a defiant Mr. Huang to pick up the pieces.
As Mr. Huang's secretary scrambles to defuse the situation, Fang Zhiyou stops Xu Yiren from apologizing and, threatening to call the police, forces a reluctant Mr. Huang to personally apologize to her. After the confrontation, Fang Zhiyou notices Xu Yiren has injured her foot. He reveals that their efforts were in vain, as Huaxing had already signed a contract with a rival firm, Liangshan.
Xu Yiren opens up about her past, explaining that after her parents died in an accident when she was ten, she grew up feeling overlooked in her uncle's home. Gao Ming was the first person to make her feel valued, which led to a dependence she mistook for love. She clarifies that her relationship with him is now firmly in the past.
Fang Zhiyou accepts her apology for her recent lies but warns her he won't be so lenient again, then tells her to return to work the next day. That night, Fang Zhiyou meticulously reassembles the broken model, conceding that Xu Yiren has a sliver of his talent. He muses that if an assistant were to fall for him, he would have to fire her to spare her the pain of unrequited love.
In her own apartment, Xu Yiren fights her growing feelings for Fang Zhiyou, reminding herself that their worlds are too different and he despises lies. The next morning, Xu Yiren returns to Square & Circle, bringing breakfast for her colleagues. Sha Sha is overjoyed by her return, and they agree to keep the U-disk incident their secret.
Xu Yiren then briefs Fang Zhiyou on the day's schedule, explaining that she will present the Huaxing design concept at the weekly meeting and has already changed his afternoon appointment with the Moon Bay Resort contact to a more relaxed afternoon tea. Shortly after, He Yuwen arrives and, upon seeing Xu Yiren, confronts Fang Zhiyou. She argues that Xu Yiren has become a liability who repeatedly lies and questions his judgment in bringing her back.
He Yuwen observes that Fang Zhiyou's principles have softened for Xu Yiren, prioritizing her over projects. When Fang Zhiyou demands a convincing reason for her dismissal, He Yuwen implicitly offers her own feelings for him as the cause. Understanding, Fang Zhiyou gently but firmly states that Xu Yiren will remain his assistant and the decision is his alone. After work, Fang Zhiyou suddenly falls ill with acute gastroenteritis.
Despite his condition, he refuses to go to the hospital because he promised his late mother he would celebrate his sister Shiyu's birthday with her every year. Xu Yiren proposes a solution: she will cook a birthday dinner at his home. At his apartment, Xu Yiren prepares a feast, and Shiyu is ecstatic, declaring that the "Three Cup Chicken" tastes exactly like their mother's cooking.
Xu Yiren, however, serves a sick Fang Zhiyou only a bowl of porridge, insisting it's her professional duty as his assistant to manage his health. On the walk home, Fang Zhiyou expresses his sincere gratitude, explaining that Xu Yiren's home-cooked meal made Shiyu happier than any expensive restaurant ever has, as it evoked cherished memories of their mother. They stop at a roasted sweet potato stall, and as they share one, he gently wipes a smudge from her lip.
The tender moment leaves Xu Yiren flustered. Later, her aunt calls asking for money, jolting her back to reality and reinforcing the vast difference between her world and Fang Zhiyou's. The following day, Xu Yiren arrives at the office to find herself the subject of intense gossip.
A photo of her helping the unwell Fang Zhiyou into his car the previous night has circulated, sparking rumors that they are in a relationship and that he has even bought her a house. Amid the speculation, a guilty Sha Sha confesses to Xu Yiren that she saw them together and mistakenly told everyone they were dating.
