Fang Zhiyou experienced a distressing flashback to his childhood in his sleep. In his agitated state, he grabbed Xu Yiren's hand, pulling her on top of him. Startled awake, Fang Zhiyou found Xu Yiren struggling to get up. She apologized for waking him, and after an awkward exchange where he sarcastically asked if she was there to watch him change, she placed his package outside his door and promptly left.
Fang Zhiyou opened the package to find a box of colorful pencils, realizing someone from his past had returned. Liu Tianyang decided to resign after Fang Zhiyou rejected his design proposal. He Yuwen and Xu Yiren intercepted him, and Xu Yiren fabricated a story, claiming Fang Zhiyou had canceled all his appointments to speak with Liu Tianyang.
When Fang Zhiyou arrived, he offered Liu Tianyang 10% of the company's shares and his own studio, but insisted the Xingcheng project must follow his conditions. Liu Tianyang refused, accusing Fang Zhiyou of arrogance and revealing Xu Yiren had misled him. Confident, Liu Tianyang vowed his design would be approved at Xingcheng Real Estate’s board meeting, suggesting Fang Zhiyou would regret it. Annoyed by the lie, Fang Zhiyou told Xu Yiren to process her resignation.
He Yuwen immediately intervened, claiming she instructed Xu Yiren to lie and threatening to resign herself if Xu Yiren was fired. Fang Zhiyou relented, calling it a one-time exception. Later, Xu Yiren admitted to He Yuwen that despite his arrogance, she found Fang Zhiyou's personality cool and liked him. Upon returning home, Xu Yiren found her landlady showing her apartment to new tenants. The landlady presented Xu Yiren with a bill for a burst water pipe, demanding compensation.
Xu Yiren protested, as she had reported the issue two weeks prior, but the landlady insisted it was Xu Yiren’s fault and demanded she use her rent and deposit to cover the damages, pay another quarter's rent at an increased rate, or be evicted immediately. At that moment, Fang Zhiyou called, but Xu Yiren claimed to have an emergency. Annoyed, Fang Zhiyou went to her home and witnessed the landlady bullying her and breaking her lamp.
He intervened, citing the rental contract, which stipulates the landlord is responsible for hardware damages. He warned that if she evicted Xu Yiren without proper cause and compensation, she would be blacklisted from the rental market. The landlady left in a huff. Xu Yiren thanked Fang Zhiyou, who dryly suggested she get her IQ tested. Fang Zhiyou brought Xu Yiren to a meeting with Mr. Yang, a potential client. Xu Yiren skillfully flattered Mr. Yang, creating an agreeable atmosphere.
However, Mr. Yang’s young son, whom Xu Yiren had charmed, suddenly threw ice at her. Fang Zhiyou immediately demanded the child apologize. Mr. Yang dismissed it as child's play and insisted Fang Zhiyou apologize instead. Fang Zhiyou retorted that parents are responsible for correcting their child's behavior and escalated the argument, causing them to lose the deal. Afterward, Fang Zhiyou explained to a remorseful Xu Yiren that he is incapable of lying, even to make things easier.
She offered to handle such difficult situations for him in the future. Meanwhile, Liu Tianyang secretly met with Li Zhe, who admitted to instigating Liu Tianyang's departure. Liu Tianyang boasted about winning over Junior Mr. Xu, who had been given full authority and wanted Fang Zhiyou out. The next day, a new intern named Gu Bo arrived. Xu Yiren recognized him from that morning, where he had traded a sandwich for one of two croissants she had just bought.
Gu Bo seemed to have investigated the company, knowing about Liu Tianyang's departure, and had a convoluted connection to He Yuwen. At Xingcheng Real Estate, Junior Mr. Xu expressed great satisfaction with Liu Tianyang’s design proposal. As the meeting was about to conclude, Senior Mr. Xu unexpectedly arrived with Fang Zhiyou, disrupting Liu Tianyang's presumed success. Having been persuaded by Fang Zhiyou, Senior Mr. Xu overturned the decision.
Devastated, Liu Tianyang broke down before Fang Zhiyou, complaining about his years of hard work and humiliation. Fang Zhiyou offered to let him return not as chief designer but as a design team leader with a reduced salary. Overjoyed, Liu Tianyang accepted, vowing never to be swayed to leave again.
Later, Fang Zhiyou surprised Xu Yiren with a moon lamp, telling her that people shouldn't be like the moon, waiting for others to provide light, but should be like the sun, illuminating their own lives.
