Since starting university, Xia Rui missed the days when she and Nan Xi could do homework together. Nan Xi, ever thoughtful, had already completed her assignments, allowing her to check her work against his once she finished. Xia Rui expressed her gratitude, to which Nan Xi playfully reminded her of their "old rules": every time she says thank you, she must do her homework.
With Nan Xi in class, Cheng Erluo at training, and Zhao Yishu resting after a performance, a bored Xia Rui decided to explore the coffee shops from a list Nan Xi had curated. At a cafe near campus, she immediately recognized the coffee's distinct taste as Boss Yi's. She was surprised to learn that Nan Xi and Boss Yi had conspired to let her discover the cafe on her own.
Boss Yi also informed her that Coach Yang and Shengnan had moved to Binhai and introduced her to another old acquaintance, Liu Bin, who was now working there. Meanwhile, Cheng Erluo met Zhao Yishu to make up for not picking her up from her performance. He insisted on taking her for a meal, but when she subtly tried to express her feelings by suggesting hot brine—implying the company mattered more than the food—he remained oblivious.
He focused on the practicalities, like getting extra meat from the boss, leaving Zhao Yishu so exasperated that she asked if he was truly clueless or just avoiding the issue. Elsewhere, Nan Xi's roommate revealed that the entire university, including Xia Rui's campus, knew about him dancing with Yang Yufei. Nan Xi, who had been stoic about the dance, grew concerned, realizing Xia Rui must have heard the news.
Xia Rui had indeed seen the post but wrestled with her feelings, ultimately deciding not to look at it to show she trusted Nan Xi. Xia Rui stayed late at Boss Yi's cafe and, finding it more enjoyable than studying, agreed to start working there part-time. During their chat, Liu Bin affectionately referred to Yang Yufei as "Feifei" and asked about her, revealing his long-standing crush.
A call from her roommate Wan Ling alerted Xia Rui to the impending dorm curfew. She rushed back, but her phone died, and she found herself locked out for the night. With nowhere else to go, Xia Rui sought refuge at Nan Xi's apartment. He warmly welcomed her and gently combed her hair, a gesture that made her heart melt. She found comfort in the familiar scent of his shampoo on her hair and on his pillow.
Though she hoped they might share the bed, Nan Xi clarified that she would take the bed while he slept on the sofa, leaving her feeling both shy and slightly disappointed. The next morning, Xia Rui, who had been feigning sleep, was woken by the sounds of Nan Xi preparing breakfast. She felt a pang of self-doubt, wondering why nothing had happened between them, questioning her own attractiveness. Nan Xi, who had caught her pretending, encouraged her to eat.
Delighted, Xia Rui declared that he would be in charge of their future breakfasts, a role he readily accepted. At the cafe, Xia Rui encountered rude customers, particularly female students envious of her relationship with Nan Xi, who audibly questioned what he saw in someone so "ordinary." Later, when Yang Yufei visited, Liu Bin angrily confronted her about the online post, which included a poll comparing her to Xia Rui.
He accused her of intentionally trying to damage Xia Rui and Nan Xi's relationship. Yang Yufei denied creating the post, claiming she just liked the photo. Disgusted, Liu Bin declared he was blind to have ever liked someone who would undermine others and stormed off. Unfazed, Yang Yufei dismissed his outburst as "interesting," confident he would eventually apologize. Later, Xia Rui confessed her insecurities to Nan Xi, admitting the online post made her feel she wasn't good enough for him.
To reassure her, Nan Xi taught her the ballroom dance steps from his class. During their talk, Xia Rui mentioned her new job would likely cause her to be locked out of the dorms often. Hearing this, Nan Xi suggested she move in with him, reminding her that the house was half hers and already their shared home. Overwhelmed by the sudden proposal, Xia Rui said she needed to "consider" it and went to bed. As she slept, Nan Xi stood over her and softly said, "Xia Rui, welcome home."
