Two years ago, Ning Fei awakened from a coma. Doctors performed a comprehensive mental evaluation, finding his condition highly unstable. He was diagnosed with Post-traumatic stress disorder, had lost his memory, and had become aggressive and unruly, failing to recognize even Xue Zi and Zhou Shi. Xue Zi saw this as an opportunity for Ning Fei to break free from his past.
She forbade Zhou Shi from telling him anything about his history, tasking her with staying by his side to care for him. Xue Zi then officially renamed him Xue Ning. During this period, Zhou Shi recalled the incident that led to Ning Fei’s injuries, believing he saved her in an alley, though she was almost unconscious at the time. When she woke up in the hospital, nurses informed her of Ning Fei’s serious wounds.
She felt immense guilt, believing his sacrifice was her fault. Ning Fei, however, dismissed her guilt, stating that if he was injured saving a woman, it only meant he was too weak. Back in the present, Zhou Shi gently coaxed Ning Fei to sleep, intending to leave. However, Ning Fei suddenly woke, clinging to her and emphatically warning her not to "go back to him," threatening to "beat him up" if she dared.
Zhou Shi, unperturbed, claimed to be his sister. She then realized her phone was missing and tried calling it. Wei Qing answered, demanding to know why she kept approaching him. Zhou Shi, her voice hoarse, first claimed to be a mere passerby, then, seeing he wouldn't believe her, declared herself his fan. Wei Qing, full of self-assurance, found this plausible. From the background, Zhou Shi overheard nurses searching for Wei Qing and laughing about him being afraid of needles.
She teased him, threatening to call the nurses. To silence her, Wei Qing agreed to return her phone, instructing her to pick it up at the hospital the next morning. He added that she would have to find him first. The next day, Zhou Shi went to the hospital and easily retrieved her phone from the nurse's station.
The nurse, believing Zhou Shi was Wei Qing’s friend, implored her to persuade him to cooperate with his treatment, warning that his optic neuritis could worsen if he remained uncooperative. Despite her reluctance to interact with Wei Qing, Zhou Shi, concerned, approached him, still pretending to be a fan. Wei Qing was defiant, using his walking aid to stride away quickly. As he walked, a cat startled him, causing him to fall.
Zhou Shi tried to help him up but also lost her balance, and they both landed on the grass. Wei Qing, seemingly terrified of the cat, clutched Zhou Shi's leg, asking for her help. Zhou Shi offered to chase the cat away on one condition: he must agree to get his injection. With his fear exposed, Wei Qing reluctantly accepted. Under Zhou Shi’s comforting presence, Wei Qing finally received his shot. Before leaving, Zhou Shi promised to visit him again.
After she left, Wei Qing mentioned to Wei An that his "new friend" promised to come back and wait for him at the bench. Meanwhile, Lin Feifei was being carried back by Xue Le. She expressed fear of being replaced in the drama, but Xue Le confidently bet she would not. Indeed, with Xue Le secretly backing her as a sponsor, the director became overly solicitous, dismissing her leg injury as minor and granting her leave.
Lin Feifei immediately went to Bi Qiujing, excitedly telling her she had seen Ning Fei. Bi Qiujing used AI to analyze Ning Fei's activity patterns, identifying several places he often frequented, suggesting Lin Feifei could find him there. However, Lin Feifei, despite her lingering feelings, haughtily claimed she was too busy with many suitors to bother chasing after a "fool who hid for two years." On another day, Zhou Shi returned to the hospital as promised to accompany Wei Qing for his injection. Wei Qing playfully demanded that she share a regretful experience in exchange.
Zhou Shi, without directly naming him, alluded to her past separation from Wei Qing, expressing regret over their argument and breakup. She mused that remaining a "passerby" allowed for more ease and freedom, without the burden of past memories. Their conversation was cut short when a nurse announced Wei An’s imminent arrival, prompting Zhou Shi to quickly leave.
Shortly after, Wei An arrived, and Wei Qing reassured him that the departing woman was merely his "crazy fan" and not a paparazzo, then requested they discuss business. Wei An reported on Shangjue Jewelry's plan to secure an Art Biennial qualification by collaborating with an exhibiting painter. He presented a list of individual painters, highlighting Jason Wu, Master Wu Zheng, as the only local candidate. Wei Qing, familiar with Wu Zheng, confidently concluded that Shangjue's plan was doomed.
Meanwhile, Zhou Shi had a phone call with Xue Zi, who urged her to handle the Art Biennial matters. Zhou Shi, still pretending to be unwell, reassured her that she had it handled, intending to bypass Wei Qing to secure the qualification. Xue Zi advised Zhou Shi to consider her future, suggesting that some things should be left in the past.
Zhou Shi, in an internal reflection, acknowledged her understanding, believing that further interaction with Wei Qing would only bring trouble, and that maintaining the status of a "passerby" offered an easier path for her to care for him without the complexities of their shared history.
