Wei Qing awoke to find the black dress Zhou Shi had worn the previous night in the laundry basket. Dazed, he questioned if his memories of the night were just a fantasy. He called Li Mingcheng, informing him he wouldn't be at the company that day and instructed him and Wei An to handle all company affairs, adding that he shouldn't be called unless absolutely necessary. Later, Wei Qing arrived at Shangjue, where Zhou Shi worked.
He stubbornly insisted on sharing her office. Annoyed, Zhou Shi instructed Xiao Pei to bring in another desk. Taking the opportunity, Wei Qing asked Zhou Shi when she had left the previous night. She responded that she left after her clothes had dried, and he had already fallen asleep from drinking too much. Once the desk arrived, Wei Qing sat there, observing Zhou Shi as she worked, while Zhou Shi, annoyed, vowed not to get angry.
Zhou Shi, however, was distracted by thoughts of the previous night. In a flashback, a drunken Wei Qing, suffering from mild hypochondriasis, had mistaken her for an imaginary version of herself. In that state, he was gentle and affectionate, asking her to stay by his side until he fell asleep. Deeply affected, Zhou Shi later sought out Dr. Chen for an explanation.
Dr. Chen revealed that Wei Qing had developed mild hypochondriasis about six months after Zhou Shi left, causing him to hallucinate her presence. Dr. Chen suggested that just as Zhou Shi had cured his allergies in the past, she was now his "heart's remedy" and that if she continued to love him, his condition would improve. As Zhou Shi busied herself until noon, Wei Qing invited her for lunch.
She declined, citing her heavy workload as an Art Biennial curator, the need to finalize contracts for emerging artists, and a prior engagement at the gallery to discuss exhibition layouts. Instead of eating, she took some health supplements. Wei Qing felt a pang of sadness, recalling her former love for food and noting how much she had changed, indicating the hardship she must have endured over the past two years.
While Zhou Shi was busy, Wei Qing secretly met with Xue Le, the General Manager of Shangjue. Wei Qing implied that Snow, Shangjue's family enterprise, prioritized bloodline, making it difficult for Xue Le, an adopted son, to fully inherit the company despite his contributions. He suggested that this biennial was a test for Xue Le from the elders to prove his worth.
Wei Qing further revealed that he knew Xue Le had arranged for Zhou Shi to join Shangjue to attract Wei Qing's attention and draw him into the "muddy waters" of the biennial. Wei Qing offered to help Shangjue achieve fame and establish itself through the biennial, but only if Xue Le agreed to release Zhou Shi from her contract. Xue Le, seeing Wei Qing's unwavering obsession with Zhou Shi, agreed to the condition.
Unwilling for her to skip meals, Wei Qing ordered a lavish amount of takeout, mostly sushi, and had it delivered to the office. Zhou Shi, finding his grand gesture overwhelming and the food too much for her, shared it with her colleagues. After the lunch break, Zhou Shi went to the gallery to discuss the exhibition setup. She managed to snatch a few bites of sushi before she and Wei Qing clashed over the selection of artwork for the Biennial.
Zhou Shi proposed featuring Wu Zheng's latest "Aurora series" to embody Shangjue's youthful and innovative spirit, believing the public desired new works. Wei Qing countered, advocating for Wu Zheng's classic "Farm Keeper series" due to its higher commercial value and broader appeal. He argued that as a first-time organizer in China, he had more market experience and could negotiate the copyright transfer for the classic works.
Zhou Shi firmly asserted that as Shangjue was the main organizer and Yunma merely a co-organizer, her plan would proceed unless Wei Qing could secure the "Farm Keeper series" copyrights. Later, Zhou Shi’s lack of proper meals caught up to her, causing stomach pain. Observing her discomfort, Wei Qing brought her hot water. He expressed concern for her strenuous work, urging her not to overexert herself, and suggested she return to Yunma.
However, Zhou Shi refused, explaining that she didn't want to be his subordinate again, believing his attitude would "infuriate her to death." She stated that maintaining their current "safe distance" was preferable for both of them. Meanwhile, Ning Fei, still suffering from amnesia and calling himself Xue Ning, continued to live with Lin Feifei. Bi Qiujing appeared to get along well with him, which irked Lin Feifei.
Bi Qiujing rationalized that Xue Ning was essentially the same person as Ning Fei, and she was simply transferring her affections. Lin Feifei laid down ground rules for Ning Fei: no female guests, he could only be called "Ning Fei" at home, and he had to comply with her "treatment plan." This plan involved hitting him on the head with a frying pan to jog his memory, a method Bi Qiujing quickly advised against as unscientific.
Lin Feifei also considered having him physically beaten or creating a scene re-enactment to stimulate his memory, which Bi Qiujing quickly dissuaded her from. Ning Fei, with nowhere else to go, reluctantly signed the "tyrannical" agreement. Later, Lin Feifei, still desperate to restore his memory, turned the shower to cold while Ning Fei was bathing, hoping a sudden shock would help. Ning Fei emerged, sneezing and complaining of a cold, but refused medicine, instead demanding Lin Feifei cook him noodles.
Lin Feifei was surprised by his request. After taking a bite, Ning Fei spat out the noodles, declaring them "poisonous." This instantly triggered a poignant memory for Lin Feifei, recalling that the original Ning Fei had said the exact same words when he first tasted her cooking. Back at Shangjue, Zhou Shi presented her revised Biennial plan, incorporating Wei Qing's earlier suggestions.
To her surprise, Wei Qing waved it off without a glance, stating he trusted her and that the exhibition's success was secondary to her happiness. Zhou Shi was incensed by his perceived disrespect for her hard work and ordered him out of her office, barring his re-entry. Frustrated, Wei Qing assigned Li Mingcheng to take over the Biennial project.
Li Mingcheng and Zhou Shi caught up, and Li Mingcheng spoke favorably of Wei Qing, urging Zhou Shi to be more understanding. He explained Wei Qing’s heightened insecurity stemming from their past long-distance relationship and his genuine efforts to change. Zhou Shi then inquired about Li Mingcheng's relationship with Bi Qiujing. Li Mingcheng admitted Bi Qiujing was still staying at Lin Feifei’s and he was unsure why she was upset.
Later that evening, Li Mingcheng sent a text to Bi Qiujing, asking her to message him when she wished to return home. As he pondered why she was upset, he noticed an old guitar in his closet, wondering if her recent coldness and refusal to be called "wife" meant she had discovered something specific about his past. Rachel’s resignation process was complete, and Li Mingcheng walked her out. Rachel asked him to call her by her name one last time.
Li Mingcheng politely refused, stating, "Rachel is Rachel, and Bi Qiujing is Bi Qiujing," before promptly leaving. Meanwhile, Zhou Shi called Wei Qing, and he expressed pleasure that she had reached out to him, telling her he was arriving at Shangjue. Zhou Shi, however, was furious and confronted him, revealing that Wu Zheng's secretary had just called to cancel their collaboration due to a problem with the contract, implying Wei Qing’s interference.
