Xue Le was startled by Wei Qing's sudden arrival, but Wei An calmly rose to offer Wei Qing his seat. Xue Le then threatened Wei An, asserting that no one would believe a man with his past. He claimed that if he exposed Wei An's dirty secrets, the Yunma shareholders would remove Wei Qing from management. Wei Qing, however, confidently stated that his belief in Wei An was all that mattered.
A flashback revealed that twelve years prior, Wei An had worked as a security guard for Wei Qing's father, Wei Heng, while secretly planning to steal a valuable painting. Wei Heng, unaware of Wei An's intentions, commended his eye for art, noting the painting's 20-million-dollar value. Before returning home, Wei Heng gave Wei An a significant sum of money, encouraging him to pursue artistic studies and not waste his talent. Wei An was touched by the gesture.
Shortly after, Wei An received a call from his thieving gang, who had moved up their plan to rob Wei Heng's home, despite Wei An's insistence on waiting until Wei Heng had left. The gang dismissed his concerns, saying a 20-million-dollar painting was worth robbing, even if Wei Heng was present. Wei An rushed to the scene but found Wei Heng gravely wounded. Wei An, in distress, called the police and turned himself in.
When talking to Wei Qing later, Wei An explained that Wei Heng had given him 10,000 US dollars, but after the tragedy, he felt it was wrong to keep the money, stating he didn't have the face to keep it anymore. Following his release from prison years later, Wei An paid his respects to Wei Heng and then sought out Wei Qing to atone.
Wei Qing, having been informed by the police about Wei An's past as a struggling artist who joined the gang out of desperation, offered him a chance at redemption. He instructed Wei An to manage Wei Heng's art gallery, telling him it was the best way to make amends for owing his father a life. Wei An promised not to disappoint him.
In the present, Xue Le's extensive background check on Wei An, which uncovered his criminal record, was no secret to Wei Qing. After Wei An reported Xue Le's attempts at blackmail, Wei Qing directed him to play along and act as an undercover agent to expose Xue Le's true motives. He then turned to a crestfallen Xue Le, mocking his disappointing ambition to simply seize Yunma's resources. A shocked Xue Le called Kevin, his assistant, who confirmed that Wei An and Wei Qing had indeed acquired all of his shares, leaving him pale and defeated. With his plans against Xue Le complete, Wei Qing decided it was time to confess everything to Zhou Shi. Bi Qiujing warned Wei Qing to be careful, as she foresaw Zhou Shi's anger due to his concealment.
Wei Qing then rushed home to prepare a romantic setting for a marriage proposal, intending to pop the question before revealing the truth. However, just as he was about to propose, Zhou Shi received a call from Xue Zi. Xue Zi informed Zhou Shi that Wei Qing and Wei An had orchestrated a deceptive plan to merge Shangjue, and instructed her to go to Yunma the next day for the share transfer.
Zhou Shi, feeling used and furious at Wei Qing's deception, questioned if he saw her as a fool or a spy. She accused him of never considering her feelings and of not trusting her. Despite Wei Qing's earnest attempts to explain that his secrecy was for her safety, Zhou Shi refused to accept his apology, stating that if he couldn't be honest, there was no point in discussing marriage.
She then stormed out of his house, leaving the unaccepted proposal behind. The following day, Zhou Shi arrived at Yunma to handle the share transfer. She contrasted her feelings with Bi Qiujing, whom Li Mingcheng had praised for her "bigger picture" perspective.
Zhou Shi admitted her "narrow-mindedness," stemming from daily nightmares and constant worry about Wei Qing's safety. Later that evening, Zhou Shi, Lin Feifei, and Bi Qiujing gathered for a girls' night. As they drank, Zhou Shi and Lin Feifei aired their grievances about Wei Qing and Ning Fei, respectively. Lin Feifei recounted how Shangjue's acquisition had led to the halt of her drama's funding and Ning Fei's disappearance, leaving her devastated by both career and romantic setbacks.
Wei Qing, who had arrived at Lin Feifei's apartment building with Li Mingcheng to pick up Zhou Shi, coerced Li Mingcheng into joining him upstairs to face the women, citing "sink or swim together" or "permanent termination." Inside, they found Zhou Shi and Lin Feifei tipsily complaining about their partners. Zhou Shi vehemently criticized Wei Qing for always making decisions for her and pretending to understand her.
Wei Qing apologized once more, acknowledging his mistakes and promising to change, urging her to come home. Zhou Shi, still emotional, eventually agreed. Wei Qing then gently carried a tearful Zhou Shi home. The next morning, Zhou Shi woke to find Wei Qing had already left for work, but he had prepared breakfast and left a note apologizing for the "crooked" sandwiches. Before her meeting with Xue Zi, Zhou Shi unexpectedly encountered Ning Fei, who claimed to have regained his memory. Lin Feifei was overcome with joy, embracing Ning Fei and shedding tears of happiness. That night, she drank coffee to stay awake, terrified that Ning Fei would forget her again if she fell asleep. Ning Fei comforted her, promising he would never leave again, and they eventually drifted off to sleep. However, when Lin Feifei awoke, Ning Fei was gone. Unbeknownst to Zhou Shi and Lin Feifei, Ning Fei had returned to Xue Zi.
He was conspiring with Xue Zi, having faked his memory recovery to deceive his friends. Xue Zi, ensuring their secret was safe, confidently told Ning Fei that no one would find out.
