Back in the past, ten years ago, Lei Chuxia sets up elaborate traps in her home, determined not to leave and repeat the tragedy of falling off the cliff. Her plan is derailed when her father, sorting through a pile of old newspapers, finds a file folder from Piggy Tech. Believing it belongs to Wei Xuanhe, he gives it to Chuxia.
Inside, she is shocked to find not company documents, but the patent certificate belonging to Xu Xiaodong's father, Xu Wei Yi. The pieces click into place, and she realizes Wei Xuanhe stole the patent and traded it to Piggy Tech in exchange for a hidden stake in their company. Just then, a news report announces that Xu Wei Yi has been hospitalized with a heart attack after being framed for plagiarism.
Believing that her purpose in traveling back in time is to save him, Chuxia abandons her self-imposed confinement and rushes out, heading for Lin Shan Hospital. On her way, she collides with a young man on a bicycle, a hurried Xu Xiaodong on his way to see his father, though they don't recognize each other. Chuxia's journey is intercepted by Wei Xuanhe, who chases her to the back mountain of Tongcheng University.
Cornered at the edge of the same cliff from her memories, she watches in horror as he reaches for the documents in her hand, recreating the scene of her original fall. As she falls, her trajectory is altered by a time-travel experiment being conducted in the future by the scientist Wang Yixin, funded by Wei Xuanhe.
Instead of hitting the ground, Chuxia is propelled ten years forward, materializing in the present day right in the middle of Wei Xuanhe's living room. A startled Wei Xuanhe and his girlfriend, Qin Yue, stare in disbelief. He quickly sends Qin Yue away, who then hides to eavesdrop on their conversation.
Lei Chuxia immediately confronts Wei Xuanhe with the truth she discovered in the past: that he stole Xu Wei Yi's patent, which led to the man's death and the ruin of his family, all so he could fund his own company. However, Wei Xuanhe, having prepared for this moment for a decade, expertly turns the story against her.
He claims that it was she who stole the patent out of a desperate love for him, hoping to help his career after his own father disapproved of their relationship. To support his lies, he presents old newspaper clippings and a news video showing her at Xu Wei Yi's company on the day of the scandal.
He then reframes her fall from the cliff not as his crime, but as her own guilt-ridden suicide attempt, which he heroically tried to prevent. Completely deceived, Chuxia is crushed by a wave of manufactured guilt. As she breaks down, she reveals a crucial piece of information that shocks Wei Xuanhe: Xu Xiaodong is Xu Wei Yi's son. Meanwhile, Xu Xiaodong's AI, Turing, detects Chuxia's reappearance and sends him her location.
He calls Yuan Yuan and Jin Xiaorui before racing to find her. He discovers a distraught Chuxia by a river and, unable to hold back any longer, confesses his love for her. Burdened by the belief that she is responsible for his father's death, Chuxia cannot bring herself to respond. He senses she is hiding something and assures her that no matter what happened, he will face it with her.
When Yuan Yuan and Jin Xiaorui arrive, Chuxia remains distant, giving them a confusing, fragmented account of her time travel experience. Elsewhere, the ever-cautious Wei Xuanhe contacts his associate Zhao Yaoyang, ordering an immediate investigation into Xu Xiaodong. Qin Yue, suspicious of what she overheard, finds the eccentric scientist Wang Yixin and tells him about Chuxia's sudden materialization. Hearing this, Wang Yixin is overjoyed, realizing his time travel experiments have finally succeeded.
Desperate to uncover the real memories and clear Xu Wei Yi's name, Lei Chuxia contacts her therapist, Dr. Tian Yu, for another hypnosis session. Dr. Tian agrees on the condition that a friend or family member accompanies her. Believing Wei Xuanhe is her only ally, Chuxia calls him. Just as they begin the session, Xu Xiaodong learns of her whereabouts and rushes to the clinic, arriving in a downpour. He is devastated to see Chuxia inside with Wei Xuanhe.
When the session ends, Chuxia emerges, wordlessly hands Xiaodong an umbrella, and then gets into Wei Xuanhe's car, leaving him heartbroken in the rain. After standing in the cold rain, Xu Xiaodong collapses with a high fever. Chuxia finds him and rushes him to the hospital. As she cares for him, he sadly remarks that even though she is physically close, she feels a world away, and asks if something terrible happened to her.
Overwhelmed with guilt, Chuxia is unable to answer. While they are at the hospital, Yuan Yuan worries about leaving them alone, but Jin Xiaorui insists it's his "love hack" to give them space to reconcile, before attempting to charm Yuan Yuan with cheesy pickup lines.
