Lu Jiu made wild chicken soup and gave a bowl to Mu Xian, saying it wasn’t specially made for her—it was meant for Jinxiu, and there happened to be one bowl left. Mu Xian didn’t want to drink it. Jinxiu said that Lu Jiu had specially caught the wild chicken to make the soup. Mu Xian questioned how she could know if Lu Jiu hadn’t put something in it. Jinxiu said he wasn’t the type to repay kindness with malice.

Mu Xian said Bi Qin would definitely return that night and told Jinxiu to be prepared. Jinxiu believed Bi Qin hadn’t gone anywhere else but had been hiding here the whole time—there must be something very important to him here. Mu Xian thought peachwood was supposed to ward off evil, but talismans wouldn’t work against a peach demon. Jinxiu suggested checking out cypress wood instead—it's a millennium wood and might be effective. They decided to head to the market first.

Mu Xian and Jinxiu arrived at the market and found a stall selling flowering plants and trees. Mu Xian saw some shadowgrass there and remembered the past—Jinxiu had once given her this plant, and it could be used to contact him. Jinxiu asked if she liked shadowgrass and offered to give it to her. Mu Xian said no—she hated shadowgrass the most. Jinxiu couldn’t understand what was wrong with her.

Mu Xian gave a talisman to Jinxiu and told him to put it in wine. When the peach demon appeared, he should give it to him to drink. Jinxiu asked if Mu Xian practiced demonic arts. Mu Xian said she was cultivating immortality. Jinxiu asked what benefits came from that. Mu Xian replied it granted eternal life. Jinxiu thought that was incredibly boring. Mu Xian thought Jinxiu was being insincere.

That night, Mu Xian waited outside, and Bi Qin arrived again, still in Mu Xian’s form. Bi Qin asked if Jinxiu’s little lover was waiting outside. Jinxiu said he liked her a lot but had never told Mu Xian, and asked Bi Qin not to say such mood-ruining things. Bi Qin drank the wine and sensed something was wrong, then quickly fled. Mu Xian and Jinxiu gave chase. Mu Xian asked why Jinxiu had followed her.

Jinxiu said he couldn’t let her come here alone. Jinxiu found it strange—Bi Qin had stayed only in this mountain and never bothered any other villages. Mu Xian and Jinxiu realized something was off and rushed back to their lodging. Mu Xian broke the barrier and found Bi Qin indeed there, but there was another peach demon as well. Mu Xian was shocked—the other peach demon had been asleep the whole time. Bi Qin said that was his younger brother.

During their tribulation, his brother had been on the verge of succeeding but damaged his spirit to save him. Jinxiu said that since Bi Qin devoured human brains, he naturally deserved punishment. Bi Qin said he never wanted to do such things. Mu Xian said she had qilin grass, which could heal the spirit. If Bi Qin gave her his inner core, he could cultivate again, and the brothers would have a chance to meet again.

Bi Qin asked why she wanted the inner core. Mu Xian said she had her own reasons. Bi Qin agreed. Mu Xian used the qilin grass to save Bi Qin’s brother, and Bi Qin handed over his inner core. Jinxiu said there was no qilin grass here and asked where she had gotten it. Mu Xian said the grass was found in Qilin Cave—her friend had brought it from there. Mu Xian and Jinxiu talked about immortal cultivation.

Jinxiu said he didn’t want to cultivate—it made immortals cold and detached after thousands of years. Even if they died, they could be reborn. Humans, with only a few decades to live, burned more brightly. Jinxiu asked Mu Xian if she would go back with him, but she refused. It started to rain, and Mu Xian fainted in the woods. Jinxiu brought her back.

When Mu Xian woke up, she asked Jinxiu what he wanted her to do—she wanted to repay his life-saving grace and then leave. Jinxiu said such a debt couldn’t be repaid so easily. His aunt wanted to arrange a marriage for him, but he made up an excuse and ran off. Kunlun arrived at the place where the maidens lived, looking for the Heavenly Maiden.

One girl said she was still waiting there, hoping to find a good man, but it seemed the Heavenly Maiden’s blessings were ineffective. Kunlun said there was no way the Heavenly Maiden was ineffective—he was here to redeem her freedom.
