Love Like White Jade Episode 20 Recap
> Love Like White Jade Recap
A government search was conducted at Lang Ya Pavilion, supposedly for a wanted criminal. However, the Seventh Senior Sister who patrolled the premises day and night assured that no criminal could have broken in, suggesting it was likely a false alarm. It was later revealed that Ma Ru Long's men, disguised as officials, carried out the search, though they found nothing.
Jiang Baiyu deduced that Pavilion Matron had anticipated their nefarious intentions and had already hidden the crucial papers for him and Shui Wuxia. Pavilion Matron invited Jiang Baiyu to a game of Go, remarking that the game, much like his investigation, appeared simple but was actually treacherous. She revealed that she had guessed his true intentions after seeing the prescription, which she recognized as his father's, and acknowledged his seven years of quiet endurance.
Jiang Baiyu promised to protect Shui Wuxia no matter what future challenges arose, confident he would win this dangerous "game." Pavilion Matron then explained his father's unique method of encoding prescriptions, using symbols and numbers corresponding to the Jiang family's herbal-medicine cabinet, which saved time on memorizing herb names. She handed the original prescription to Jiang Baiyu.
Jiang Tianling, influenced by Fang Yuncheng's philosophy that a woman always needs something, even if she claims otherwise, believed Zhe Zhi deeply desired an explanation from him. He found Zhe Zhi practicing a dance and mistakenly thought she was contemplating suicide, dramatically insisting on taking responsibility for her. Zhe Zhi, however, clearly rejected his advances, explaining that she genuinely did not need his forced sense of responsibility.
Upon returning to the Jiang Mansion, Shui Wuxia and Jiang Baiyu were dismayed to discover the prescription they had carefully stored was missing. Relying on Shui Wuxia's exceptional memory, she managed to reconstruct the complex symbols of the prescription. However, Jiang Baiyu was not skilled enough in herbal medicine to decipher it, leading them to seek Jiang Tianling's assistance.
This coincided with the awkward situation of Jiang Tianling having to pose as a servant to appease Qi Delong's father, who was present at the Jiang Mansion. Jiang Tianling found the ordeal unbearable, watching his unbearable eating habits and having to clean his mouth afterwards. Shui Wuxia visited Shen Qingli, bringing him potent spirit herbs from Lang Ya Pavilion, having added a large dose to the decoction.
Unbeknownst to her, Shen Qingli's wounds had already healed, and he feared that taking such a strong dose would cause him to "explode and die." He skillfully evaded Shui Wuxia's attempts to examine his wound, redirecting the conversation to her experiences at Lang Ya Pavilion, saying they always talked about wounds. Shui Wuxia gave a simple account of her time there, but then reiterated her desire to check his wound. Shen Qingli, flustered, quickly excused himself and fled.
Shui Wuxia was left perplexed by his unusual behavior, finding it strange that he seemed so different after only a few days apart. Later, while preparing for a criminal law class with Qi Delong, Shui Wuxia proposed simulating a crime scene to make the lesson more vivid, rather than just reading from books. They decided to play the "murder victims" for Jiang Baiyu and Jiang Tianling to investigate.
While preparing, Qi Delong noticed Shui Wuxia's preoccupation, asking if she was thinking about Shen Qingli and if she had feelings for him, even suggesting Shen Qingli might also have feelings for her. This made Shui Wuxia realize that Shen Qingli's recent peculiar actions might indeed be due to jealousy. Concluding that she had been getting too close to Jiang Baiyu, she resolved to maintain a greater distance from him in the future.
During the simulated crime scene, Shui Wuxia, still thinking about Shen Qingli's jealousy, was noticeably stiff and uncomfortable when Jiang Baiyu began his investigation, especially when he touched her to locate the "wound." Despite her resistance, Jiang Baiyu adeptly found the hidden "wound," deducing it was inflicted by an assassin's unconventional weapon. Shui Wuxia quickly left after his successful deduction. Coincidentally, Jiang Tianling encountered Zhe Zhi hurrying along a road.
She explained she was on her way to perform for an elderly woman who liked to watch her dance, but had forgotten her costume at Lantern Boudoir, which was too far to retrieve in time. Jiang Tianling, after learning it would take about a quarter of an hour to return to Lantern Boudoir and it would be too late, offered a solution and took Zhe Zhi to buy her a beautiful silk robe and matching jewelry.
Although it began to rain, hindering their journey, Zhe Zhi's spontaneous spirit was undaunted. She declared that if one wanted to dance, any place would do, and proceeded to perform gracefully on a bridge, despite the downpour.
