Lin Mo sat in a rain-soaked pavilion, sharing a bun with Jing Xiu, who quietly thanked her for the meal. As the rain subsided, Lin Mo drifted off to sleep against a pillar. Before departing, Jing Xiu, in gratitude for her kindness, used his dwindling magic to perform a spell on her throat, then stumbled away.

Prior to his military expedition to the Shanling Territory, Jiuchen instructed Siming to travel to the mortal world on his behalf to lead Ling Xi to the Peach Blossom Lodge, where Jiuchen had planted his five senses, and ensure she settled down there. Jiuchen promised to follow once his current affairs were concluded. Siming reassured him, and Jiuchen then inquired about Ling Xi's second trial.

Siming admitted he didn't know, explaining that it’s difficult to foresee a tribulation's appearance until it strikes, suggesting it will likely involve typical human experiences of birth, aging, sickness, death, happiness, anger, sorrow, or joy. He advised against prying into Heaven's Will and suggested observing patiently. As Siming prepared to leave, Yuantong rushed in, kneeling and admitting her mistakes, but Jiuchen dismissed her without a glance. Lin Mo journeyed on, eventually arriving at a bustling small town.

While observing the lively surroundings, she was accidentally bumped by a sedan chair. The occupant tossed some small silver coins, and a kind older woman picked them up, insisting Lin Mo take them. As Lin Mo tried to refuse, she was astonished to discover that she could now speak normally, uttering "I can talk?" Overjoyed by her newfound voice, Lin Mo practiced speaking aloud as she walked through the street.

She was soon stopped by Siming, disguised as a long-bearded fortune teller, who insisted on reading her fortune. Despite her initial reluctance, Lin Mo agreed. The fortune teller claimed Lin Mo has a shallow family fate, faces many obstacles, has recently escaped death, and has traveled thousands of li alone. Lin Mo explained her recent ability to speak, which the fortune teller brushed off as a medical matter.

When asked what she sought, Lin Mo admitted she simply didn't know where to go. The fortune teller then requested her name and birth date. After a theatrical performance, he dramatically described her "side official" fate as fierce and ominous, foretelling incompatible wealth and food fortunes, and the departure of loved ones. He warned of minor presentations like toil, oppression, sickness, and major presentations including severe illness, disabilities, and even life endangerment, hurting both herself and her loved ones.

However, he quickly reassured her that this ominous fate could be controlled and resolved. Based on her birth year, he instructed her to head northwest, seeking a place by water with a view of mountains, specifically a courtyard with trees and blossoming flowers, where she could find peace and feel at home. He emphasized that she is a person of great fortune, destined to be aided by a benefactor who will soon appear.

The fortune teller refused payment, stating it was destined for him to make this prediction. Trusting the fortune teller’s words, Lin Mo set off towards the northwest, keeping in mind his specific mention of a peach tree. Days later, she reached a fishing village and encountered an old fisherwoman, who was another of Siming’s disguises. Lin Mo asked for a place to rest.

The fisherwoman, after a brief joke, directed her to a nearby abandoned old house, warning that it’s dilapidated but suggesting she check it if she doesn't mind. She mentions it's less than a li away and easily identifiable by a peach tree in its garden. Following the directions, Lin Mo soon arrived at the Peach Blossom Lodge. Despite being overgrown with weeds and covered in cobwebs, the house surprisingly contained furniture, clothes, and blankets.

She was immediately drawn to the place and, feeling a sense of belonging, spent days diligently cleaning and restoring the lodge. She then carefully buried soil from her hometown under the prominent peach tree in the courtyard. Meanwhile, Baoqing, having evaded her subordinates, searched for Jing Xiu. She unexpectedly encountered Qinyuan, who captured her. Despite Baoqing's protests and attempts to resist, Qinyuan maintained a surprisingly calm demeanor, even offering her food.

When Baoqing defiantly refused to eat, Qinyuan pressed her for Jing Xiu's whereabouts. Baoqing maintained her innocence, claiming she genuinely didn't know and only came to the mortal world out of worry. She asserted that Jing Xiu cares for her deeply and will surely come to save her if he learns of her capture, suggesting Qinyuan simply wait for him.

One day, while Lin Mo was watering the peach tree in her courtyard, she discovered Jing Xiu collapsed outside her gate. She immediately summoned Doctor Sun, who reported Jing Xiu's pulse was stable but his eyes were severely injured. Doctor Sun expressed concern about Lin Mo housing a stranger, especially when Jing Xiu awakened and violently grabbed his wrist. Doctor Sun, alarmed by Jing Xiu's strength, quickly left, advising Lin Mo to send him away.

Lin Mo carefully helped Jing Xiu down the steps. Jing Xiu recognized her voice and asked where he was, and Lin Mo replied it's her house. He dismissed her questions about his eye injury, insisting it's none of her business, and walked out. Moments after his departure, Lin Mo discovered he left his scarf. As rain began to fall heavily, she rushed out with an umbrella. She found Jing Xiu struggling in the downpour, blind and disoriented.

Seeing his plight, Lin Mo offered him shelter, suggesting he return with her until the rain stops. Jing Xiu, despite his usual reserved nature, accepted her offer. Once back inside, Lin Mo provided him with fresh clothes, helped him clean up, and meticulously applied medicine to his injured eyes that she acquired from the doctor.

Zhonghao was infuriated upon learning that Jing Xiu, despite having his vital energy channels destroyed by White Bone Nails, magic gone, and being blind, managed to escape the forbidden land. His subordinate, Heichi, suggested Jing Xiu was now a useless and harmless figure. However, Zhonghao vehemently insisted Jing Xiu must die, viewing his escape as proof that he remains a formidable enemy if given the chance to recover.

When Zhonghao expressed his intention to pursue Jing Xiu personally, Heichi advised him to remain in command of the Shanling Tribe, offering to handle Jing Xiu's capture himself, acknowledging the impending attention from the Heavenly Race due to their grand movements against the Shanling Tribe. Soon after, Qinyuan returned, presenting Baoqing, whom he identified as Ling Yue's adopted daughter, as a "gift."

Qinyuan explained that he "taught her a little lesson" for misbehaving and, despite Jing Xiu's current weakened state, Baoqing represented his critical weakness; once he seeks reinforcements, she can be used to fatally wound him. Zhonghao approved of this plan and instructed Qinyuan to keep a close watch on her.

Jiuchen arrived with his troops at the border of the Shanling Territory, where a guard declared that, as ordered by the State Master of Shanling, Jiuchen was not allowed to enter their territory by even half a step. Jiuchen then instructed Yunfeng to take Kaiyang and Hanzhang to investigate, while he waited outside. He warned them about the cunning nature of the Demon Tribe.

Upon entering, Yunfeng, Kaiyang, and Hanzhang were met by Ling Yue, the State Master of Shanling, who confronted them angrily, accusing Jiuchen of killing her daughter and daring to enter her hall. Yunfeng explained that the Heavenly Race learned of the disturbance incited by Zhonghao, a descendant of their own race, and that the Heavenly Emperor decreed Jiuchen lead a troop to pacify the uprising.

He asked Ling Yue not to involve innocent civilians in her personal grudge, emphasizing that their visit was an act of kind intention and that the Heavenly Race and Shanling Tribe have shared glory and endured humiliation together for tens of thousands of years. Yunfeng pressed her, stating that if they were not allowed to inspect, they cannot report back and will have to remain until Shanling was confirmed safe.

Ling Yue finally agreed to allow everyone from the Heavenly Race to move freely within her territory, but she adamantly reiterated that Jiuchen himself was forbidden to set foot inside. She threatened to use the entire strength of her tribe to execute him and avenge her daughter if he dared to enter. Yunfeng thanked her for her conditional permission. Weeks passed. Jing Xiu's physical injuries healed significantly, but his blindness persisted.

Doctor Sun admitted he could not cure his eye injury, suggesting Lin Mo simply feed him more seafood, hoping it might miraculously improve one day. As Lin Mo saw the doctor out, Jing Xiu attempted to secretly use his magic, which triggered a painful reaction from the White Bone Nails. Lin Mo rushed back, intending to call the doctor again, but Jing Xiu stopped her, assuring her he was fine. She then brought him water, which helped him calm down.

Though he retained his reserved demeanor, he gradually accepted Lin Mo’s kindness. He confirmed her name, Lin Mo, and acknowledged her help, then revealed his own name was Jing Xiu. When Lin Mo tentatively asked if she could call him "Brother Jingxiu," he consented.
