Synopsis
The story unfolds in the late 1990s against the backdrop of Wu Gang, a small town in Southwest China, centring on the lives of Chen Fu and Zhang Wenying's family within the petroleum system.
Siblings Chen Ying and Chen Shan lost their parents in a pipeline gas explosion. Chen Shan left home to become the foreman of a construction crew, known as "Brother Shan".
In 2001, amidst the economic boom of the Southwest Petroleum System, Chen Shan encounters a new explosion case and reopens the old investigation, uncovering the involvement of former Design Institute Director Geng Jian.
The siblings, having once been estranged, join forces. After three years of relentless pursuit, they finally uncover the truth.
