When Xiao Qin awoke in the hospital, it was revealed that she had not been discharged but had secretly pretended to be healthy to visit Xiao Bai. The doctor admonished her family for inadequate supervision, stating that her condition, which was close to discharge, now required additional observation. Xiao Qin apologized to Zhao Jin, but he gently reassured her, "It's okay. But it can't happen again," before heading to work and leaving their father to stay with her.

At the Nuan Nuan Pet Hospital, Zhao Jin was troubled by memories of Xiao Qin calling out for "Mom" while she was unconscious. He tried to call their mother, hoping she would visit, but was met with a disconnected number, leaving him deeply disappointed. Meanwhile, Xu Nuo and her friend Shi Ran were outside Shi Ran's building. Shi Ran playfully urged her, "Look at your face. Smiling till your mouth reach the back of your head.

Call him if you miss him. Invite him to come downstairs." Xu Nuo, initially claiming Zhao Jin was working overtime, eventually decided to visit him. " I do want to see him. Hold this for me. Bye," she told her friend before rushing off. Upon arriving at Zhao Jin's apartment, she discovered a new photograph on his bedside table—a cherished memory of Zhao Jin, herself, and Xiao Qin enjoying a picnic.

Later, a despondent Zhao Jin went drinking with Sister Hong. Sister Hong, understanding his family struggles, inquired about his troubles. He vented about his sister's cries for their mother and his failed attempt to contact her. " My sister kept saying 'Mom' last night. So I called my mom. Hoping she comes back to meet my sister. Only to find out she has changed her phone numbers. I kept thinking why?"

Sister Hong encouraged him to cry, reminding him he couldn't shoulder everything. She suggested his father might have given their mother no choice, as "no mother is willing to leave her children." Zhao Jin, however, expressed his lingering hurt and confusion, asking, "But after so many years have passed. So many years have passed, why didn't she come to pick us up?" As his ex-wife Tian Muchu called him, he curtly dismissed her, "I'm busy drinking.

Not available," and hung up. As Zhao Jin became heavily intoxicated, Sister Hong tried to take him home, but he insisted on seeing Xiao Qin. To ensure he rested, Sister Hong volunteered to check on Xiao Qin herself. Zhao Jin took a taxi home, only to find Tian Muchu waiting downstairs. She offered him sober-up tea and tried to help him upstairs, but he rebuffed her assistance, saying, "Don't touch me. I can walk by myself."

Just as they were going up, Xu Nuo arrived after leaving Shi Ran's apartment. Seeing Tian Muchu with Zhao Jin, Xu Nuo's cheerful demeanor instantly faded. Tian Muchu, sensing the awkwardness, quickly left, telling Xu Nuo to make sure Zhao Jin drank the tea. Xu Nuo then stayed to care for a deeply intoxicated Zhao Jin, asking, "Why did you drink so much? Something happened?" Drunk, Zhao Jin began to express his deep-seated fears to Xu Nuo. "

Will you abandon us too?" he asked. When she sought clarification, he continued, "If you want to leave, it's not too late. I. . . Can I trust you? You'll never change your mind, will you?" Xu Nuo, growing frustrated, retorted, "You think I'll change my mind, don't you?" She concluded he was too drunk to talk sense and decided to leave, telling him they would discuss it when he was sober.

As she descended, she briefly encountered Tian Muchu, who tried to excuse Zhao Jin's behavior, advising, "Xu Nuo. Don't hold it against him. He behaves badly when he's drunk. Be considerate." Xu Nuo, however, was clearly upset, realizing that Tian Muchu had brought him home. Xu Nuo returned to Shi Ran and Xu Yang. Shi Ran was furious on her behalf about Tian Muchu's presence and argued with Xu Yang, who tried to de-escalate the situation.

Shi Ran exclaimed, "If she's not mad at the girl, she will be mad at me, at herself, and Zhao Jin. Do we deserve to be bullied by you, do we?" She criticized Xu Yang for only apologizing instead of standing up for Xu Nuo. Upon returning home, Xu Nuo found a drunken Peng Yuan knocking at her door. He apologized, confessing, "I miss you." Xu Nuo questioned him, "Will you still be with me? I've already hurt you once.

You're not afraid that I'll hurt you for second time?" Peng Yuan affirmed his trust in her, but Xu Nuo, citing a belief that "if something happens once, then it'll happen again," simply told him, "Go home." The next morning, Xu Yang, having been kicked out by Shi Ran after their fight, awoke at Zhao Jin's apartment. He chided Zhao Jin, "It's all your fault. You made me be kicked out of my own place."

Zhao Jin, still hazy, couldn't recall how he got home. Xu Yang then reminded him of his drunken antics: "You asked Xu Nuo will she abandon you and Xiao Qin. You asked if she would change her mind about you. And then Xu Nuo took it seriously." Zhao Jin was shocked, then even more surprised to learn from Xu Yang that Tian Muchu had been there too. " My God. I'm screwed," he muttered, realizing the magnitude of his mistake.

He immediately tried to call Xu Nuo, but at work, distracted and upset, she ignored the ringing phone. Xu Nuo, still reeling, confided in Shi Ran. She worried, "Why did he ask me whether I will abandon him? Tian Muchu had abandoned him. So he asked me like that when finishing his drink. It means he hasn't let it go completely."

Shi Ran tried to help her reframe her thoughts, suggesting she might be "deliberately nitpicky" and advised her to find a way to "escape the circle" of overthinking. Xu Nuo, encouraged, eventually made her way to the pet hospital. While outside, she prepared to call Zhao Jin, but he was preoccupied with animal emergencies and couldn't answer. Eventually, Zhao Jin called her back. " I see you've called me several times. I was busy," he said, apologizing.

He admitted, "I drank too much. . . But I didn't expect that Tian Muchu would come to my house. Then I also said something strange. But I. . . I didn't do that on purpose." They agreed to meet and talk. Wanting to understand Xu Nuo's emotional state, Zhao Jin then called Shi Ran, only to be met with a cold query: "Zhao Jin, what's your situation? Do you still have feelings for that ex-wife of yours?"

When he denied it, Shi Ran firmly refused to mediate, stating, "Do you want me to say something good for you? I can't." Zhao Jin, seeking further advice, spoke with Sister Hong, recounting his errors. Sister Hong playfully observed that his emotional turbulence with Xu Nuo made him "finally a human being," more relaxed and showing his true characteristics. Zhao Jin, however, was focused on, "What's most important now is how should I comfort Xu Nuo?"

Sister Hong advised him not to be selfish by forcing Xu Nuo to understand his heavy past. Xu Nuo also fielded calls from her parents. Her father tried to set her up on a blind date with "the daughter of Lawyer Hai," which she attempted to postpone. Her mother also called, wanting to discuss something that couldn't be explained over the phone, promising to wait until Xu Nuo was free.

When Zhao Jin and Xu Nuo finally met, Xu Nuo directly confronted him about his drunken words. Zhao Jin confessed, "Both. I know it sounds like an excuse. But that's really drunken babbling. I couldn't possibly think of you that way." He explained his fears of abandonment, linking them to his ex-wife Tian Muchu. Xu Nuo, while acknowledging his pain, expressed her own hurt, stating she couldn't simply forgive him due to his drunkenness.

She confessed her deep insecurities, admitting that his words had stirred her "lingering feelings of unease, inferiority." Zhao Jin pleaded, "Xu Nuo. I wish I could just open up my heart to you right now. I think I don't deserve you. I'm the one who pushed you away." Xu Nuo clarified that she didn't doubt his love, but rather doubted herself. She confessed her "greed" for him made her feel "trapped without preparation."

She needed time to "prepare myself," unwilling to "pretend it's okay or lie to you." Zhao Jin, in a sober state, reiterated his deepest fear, "Don't abandon me." Later, Xiao Qin worried about Xiao Bai, who hadn't replied to her texts, and asked Zhao Jin to check on him. She also talked to Zhao Jin about happiness, confessing, "When you like someone, the time you're happy is very short."

She wished for "just normal happy every day," rather than fleeting moments. She asked if he missed their mother, reminding him he'd called for her during a fever. Xiao Qin then expressed her contentment with their current family, including Zhao Jin, Xu Nuo, and their father, adding Xiao Bai to the list. Zhao Jin's father shared news that Xiao Qin could be discharged soon and they would await a bone marrow match.

He then addressed Zhao Jin's fight with Xu Nuo, revealing he'd met Xu Nuo's mother by chance. She had been on her way to the pet hospital to confront Zhao Jin but changed her mind after overhearing Zhao Jin's father speak highly of him. Zhao Jin's father advised him to be more confident in his relationship with Xu Nuo, emphasizing that she brought a new sense of living for him. " So, you mustn't disappoint her.

Don't do what I did to your mother when I was young," he urged. Fearing that Xu Nuo might indeed leave him, Zhao Jin went to her house once more, but despite his repeated calls and presence at her door, she did not answer.
