Xu Nuo insisted on meeting Peng Yuan's father alone and refused Peng Yuan's offer to take her home. Peng Yuan reminded her that they hadn't broken up yet. Before parting, Xu Nuo asked if he genuinely liked Cong Shan, suggesting they were a better match. She pressed him, saying he didn't need to hide his feelings from her anymore. Peng Yuan finally revealed that while Cong Shan liked and pursued him, he had never liked her.
At the pet hospital, a colleague invited Zhao Jin to dinner, but he politely declined, claiming he had brought his own food. After work, Zhao Jin went to Xu Nuo's flower shop under the guise of picking up his sister.

He elaborated that relatives are constant, but lovers can change and become strangers or even enemies. Zhao Jin was delighted they had become "us" and hoped not to disappoint his sister, who was looking forward to their wedding. Xu Nuo told him he needed to "work hard." When Xu Nuo's father suggested a dinner to discuss the couple's relationship, Peng Yuan revealed that Xu Nuo would be meeting his father alone. Xu Nuo's father was immediately concerned, worrying that Xu Nuo's temper might offend Peng Yuan's father and that she shouldn't meet him without Peng Yuan present. Peng Yuan pondered Xu Nuo's desire to meet his father alone, replaying their conversation and his father's concerns in his mind. He then called his father and mother. The next day, Zhao Jin returned to the flower shop earlier than usual, seeming anxious for Xu Nuo, but his sister confirmed Xu Nuo was still out. She then explained that lavender's flower language is "waiting," promising a miracle with patience, and gave him some. Xu Nuo waited for the meeting alone. Peng Yuan called her, informing her that his father had an urgent matter and couldn't make it, apologizing on his behalf. Peng Yuan tried to calm her, but Xu Nuo angrily said that she had nothing to say to his father and asked Peng Yuan to convey her message. She accused both him and his father of breaking appointments and pointed out that she was always the unimportant one.
She then revealed that she wanted to meet his father alone to tell him that she couldn't marry his son and that despite their many years together, they had broken up, though it wasn't his son's fault. She again asked him to convey her message, then hung up as Peng Yuan attempted to explain further. Cong Shan found Peng Yuan looking troubled in his office. He claimed to be watching a homeless singer.

Zhao Jin found Xu Nuo sitting alone on a beach. He hugged her tightly, telling her not to regret anything. He gently inquired if her mother had said anything, guessing she might be worried that Xu Nuo would be alone and without financial support in her old age. Zhao Jin acknowledged that this could be a problem and offered to treat her to a very expensive meal to ease her worries. Peng Yuan and Cong Shan went out for dinner. At the same time, Zhao Jin and Xu Nuo also arrived at the same restaurant, though without a reservation.
Xu Nuo made Zhao Jin promise not to take her to restaurants he had visited with other women. During their meal, Xu Nuo went to the restroom and unexpectedly saw Cong Shan, who was also heading there. Meanwhile, Zhao Jin drove Xu Nuo home. Xu Nuo showed him the lavender flowers his sister had given her, reminding him of their meaning: "waiting." She expressed frustration with herself for subconsciously avoiding Peng Yuan, especially since he was with another woman.
Zhao Jin reassured her that they would face challenges together. Xu Nuo confessed that she had become less patient since meeting him. Cong Shan inquired about Zhao Jin's absence, hinting at wanting to train with him. Xu Yang told her Zhao Jin was busy at the pet hospital. Cong Shan expressed suspicion that Peng Yuan might be aware of Xu Nuo's feelings for Zhao Jin, noting Peng Yuan's "weird eyes." Xu Yang reassured her that Xu Nuo was facing the most difficult situation, dismissing Cong Shan's worry about men getting hurt by saying men easily find new girlfriends.
Cong Shan invited Xu Yang to her house to show him a book, and after some initial hesitation, Xu Yang agreed to go. At Cong Shan's house, she showed him the book, which was a novel titled "Obsession." They continued their discussion about men's vulnerability in relationships, with Cong Shan asserting that "Art comes from life," and teasing Xu Yang for not studying enough.
She became defensive when Xu Yang mentioned her being "close" with female students and accused him of pretending to be innocent. Ultimately, Cong Shan suggested they read the book together, starting with the first page.
