On the day Grand Commandant Jia was to be appointed Grand Marshal, Pan Yue’s father also attended. He had been suspended and investigated due to Pan Yue’s actions, and Jia had summoned him on purpose. As the ceremony was about to begin, Zhuo Lanjiang still hadn’t appeared, leaving Pan Yue and Yang Caiwei anxious. Just then, Bai Xiaosheng received a corpse—Zhuo Lanjiang’s last request was for his uncle to bring him back to her. Bai Xiaosheng was overwhelmed.

Even in death, Zhuo Lanjiang’s hand tightly clenched something. When she opened it, she found a piece of candy in his palm and burst into uncontrollable tears. As the Grand Marshal appointment ceremony began, Yang Caiwei and Pan Yue suddenly arrived with the princess’s memorial tablet to stop the proceedings. They declared that the princess’s death was connected to enemy spies. At this moment, Pan Yue’s father suddenly pleaded with the Empress to give Pan Yue a chance to explain.

The Empress summoned them forward. Lady Jia didn’t believe the princess had been forced to commit suicide. Pan Yue and Yang Caiwei claimed it was Grand Commandant Jia who drove her to it and revealed that he was a spy from the Jiang clan. Ten years ago, Yang’s father received a tip-off letter and was killed. Ten years later, a chain of events started from Pan Yue and Yang Caiwei’s wedding, which led them to uncover Grand Commandant Jia’s schemes.

Jia and Minister Sun were confident because they believed there was no proof—until Yang Caiwei presented Yunshang and Ling Er. Yunshang was alive. Ten years ago, she had picked up a letter proving Jia’s collusion with the enemy and wrote a tip-off letter to Yang’s father. But soon after, he was found dead. Yunshang presented the original secret letter to the Empress Dowager, but Jia denied everything.

Pan Yue suggested testing Jia on the spot, as the letter bore a fingerprint seal that couldn’t be forged. Jia removed his gloves, only to show his fingers were injured. The Empress explained that Jia had been injured protecting the young crown prince and rewarded him for his bravery. She refused to believe their accusations. At this critical moment, Bai Xiaosheng arrived with Zhuo Lanjiang’s body and presented vital evidence. Seeing his bruised body, Yang Caiwei was overcome with emotion.

The Empress was skeptical that a corpse could be evidence. Yang Caiwei proposed an autopsy, and several ministers who doubted Yang’s father’s death pleaded with the Empress for a chance. Though devastated, Yang Caiwei steeled herself to examine Zhuo Lanjiang’s body. Most injuries were from beatings and whips, but three stab wounds appeared self-inflicted—signaling the account book’s location. Pan Yue asked to lead a search. Lady Jia agreed, saying that if Jia was innocent, there was nothing to fear.

Time was almost up, but Pan Yue hadn’t returned, making Yang Caiwei anxious. Just as the hour struck, Pan Yue was escorted back. It turned out he had secretly passed a message to the Empress and personally captured Jia. However, Jia had his own backup plan with soldiers. Fortunately, Pan Yue had brought reinforcements. The Empress ordered Jia imprisoned in the Sky Prison. At that moment, Lady Jia killed her husband with her own hands.

The turmoil in the capital finally settled. The Green Empress left for Heyang. Yunshang apologized, but the Green Empress didn’t forgive her—she only asked her to live with a clear conscience. Pan Yue requested to return to Heyang as a county magistrate and went to bid farewell to his father. Though a gap remained between them, they were still father and son. Shangguan Lan came to see Yang Caiwei—really to see Shangguan Zhi one last time.

He acknowledged that Shangguan Zhi was at fault and didn’t blame Yang Caiwei. Perhaps seeing another version of Shangguan Zhi in this world was enough for him. Bai Xiaosheng built a grave for Zhuo Lanjiang. He once said that after taking down Jia, he would return to Heyang and drink for three days straight. Yang Caiwei brought osmanthus wine to toast her best friend. Bai Xiaosheng appeared calm, pretending to be fine.

She said she wanted to spend a little more time with Zhuo Lanjiang. Recalling every day and night they spent together, she had long since regarded him as her husband—married to him thousands of times in her heart. Yang Caiwei and Pan Yue looked at the now peaceful and beautiful Heyang, remembering the once sinful city it used to be. They never expected that clearing everyone's names would come at such a high cost. But now that the storm had passed, the two of them could finally stay together.

Pan's father found Grand Commandant Jia's token, but to his shock, it bore the number two. In that instant, a cold sweat broke out down his spine.
