Yan Da searched frantically for Shuo Gang, only to be ridiculed by the other Fire Princes, who called her useless and suggested she stay in her room to learn embroidery. Just as they threatened to leave the Ten-layered Tower themselves, the Fire King arrived. He was already ill and became furious upon hearing of Shuo Gang's disappearance, spitting blood. Yan Da confessed that Shuo Gang was swallowed by a mysterious black fog while exploring the City of Bladed Snow.

The Fire King revealed his illness was worse than expected and he wouldn't regain his original power soon. He then explained that the Ash Lanterns, which protected the Fire Realm, required all nine of his children's power. With Xin Jue already gone and now Shuo Gang missing for half a month, the Ash Lanterns were unstable, leaving the City of Ashes vulnerable to invasion. He sternly ordered Yan Da to find Shuo Gang immediately.

Meanwhile, Ka Suo's Ice Nucleus continued to grow larger. Lan Shang, wanting to help alleviate Ka Suo's worries, attempted to feed it her Mermaid blood, hoping it might prefer it to Ice Tribe blood. However, the Ice Nucleus bit her, rejecting her blood. Ka Suo, touched by her efforts, started to express his true feelings to her, but Lan Shang cut him off, saying she didn't want to hear any apologies.

She then suggested they take the Ice Nucleus out for a walk, explaining that a good mood helps things grow faster, just like her seaweed. Yue Shen, who was secretly protecting Ka Suo at Li Luo's request, was approached by Liao Jian. Liao Jian revealed he was also protecting Ka Suo, having been ordered by the Ice King due to the Bear Tribe's loyalty. Liao Jian then brought Yue Shen to meet the Ice King.

There, Yue Shen disclosed that before the Fire and Ice War, Li Luo had overheard an Ice Tribe spy colluding with the Fire King near the Endless Sea, discussing the weaknesses of the Ice Princes and Princesses' magic. The Ice King and his ministers were horrified, finally understanding why their powerful magic combination had failed. They vowed to find and punish the traitor.

However, Yue Shen added that Li Luo had been injured and couldn't see the spy's face, leaving them without a lead. Xing Jiu, the Chief Dreamer, offered a solution, proposing to use Li Luo's dream to revisit that crucial memory. Separately, Lian Ji lured several Ice Tribe children into the Forest of Snow and Fog, instructing them on where to go. She then menacingly stated that they "deserved to die" and should not blame her for their fate.

In Li Luo's dream, Xing Jiu appeared, explaining his ability to enter dreams. He took her to a dream of past memories, specifically the scene where she witnessed the betrayal. While reliving the memory, Li Luo again couldn't clearly see the spy's face. Xing Jiu explained that while he could not alter past events in a dream, he observed that the traitor had used her unique magic to shatter a stone during the encounter.

He took a piece of this stone, believing that by finding someone in the City of Bladed Snow who could break a rock in the same specific manner, they could identify the spy. Li Luo understood and told him to take care as she woke up. Continuing her search for She Yin in the desolate North Forbidden Land, she was attacked by a violent sandstorm and fell into a sand abyss.

Back in the City of Bladed Snow, Lan Shang, still determined to help Ka Suo, secretly entered his room. She continued her efforts to coax the mischievous Ice Nucleus, which kept evading her playfully. Under their combined care, the Ice Nucleus steadily grew. The deadline for the Ice Nucleus competition arrived. Ka Suo presented his Ice Nucleus, which had successfully developed one horn, much to the Ice King and Queen's delight.

When it was Ying Kong Shi's turn, his Ice Nucleus initially showed no signs of growth, causing tension. However, Lian Ji dramatically urged the King to look closer, and to everyone's astonishment, Ying Kong Shi's Ice Nucleus suddenly opened its eyes, sprouted two horns, and began actively pulsating. Lian Ji was responsible for this dramatic growth, having secretly killed five young men from the Forest of Snow and Fog and used their blood to nurture the Ice Nucleus.

News of the five male corpses spread throughout the City of Bladed Snow, causing widespread panic among the citizens who feared another Fire Tribe attack. They urgently petitioned the Ice King to swiftly name a successor. Under immense pressure, the Ice King announced that Ka Suo and Ying Kong Shi would compete in a duel the following day, with the victor claiming the throne.

Ying Kong Shi confronted Lian Ji, questioning how his Ice Nucleus suddenly grew and what happened to the deceased young men. Lian Ji evaded his questions, assuring him that whatever she did was for his benefit and he only needed to focus on the competition. She reminded him of their promise: if he defeated Ka Suo and became King, she would reveal the method for Ka Suo to regain his spiritual power.

She stressed that if he failed, Ka Suo would live and die like a mortal. Despite his deep mistrust of his mother, Ying Kong Shi agreed for Ka Suo's sake. Lian Ji, in a private moment, reflected on enduring her whole life for this day, willing to pay any price for killing a god and having no regrets.

The Seven Saints approached the Ice King, questioning how Ying Kong Shi, who supposedly did not possess Ice Tribe blood, could have raised an Ice Nucleus. They expressed their concern that if Ying Kong Shi were to win the duel, they would invoke their authority, bestowed by Ancestor She Mi, to override the King's decision and destroy any successor deemed unfit for the throne.

Lan Shang desperately sought out Lian Ji, pleading with her to cancel the duel between Ka Suo and Ying Kong Shi. She pointed out that Ka Suo had lost his spiritual power, making the fight inherently unfair and risking him further injury. Lian Ji scoffed, stating that Ying Kong Shi's capabilities now far surpassed Ka Suo's, making his claim to the throne a natural one. She arrogantly suggested Ka Suo admit defeat to avoid embarrassment.

The Mermaid Saint later advised Lan Shang that Ka Suo's true adversary was not Ying Kong Shi or Lian Ji, but himself. Only by conquering his inner demons and self-doubt could he truly win and prove himself worthy of kingship; otherwise, even she would have no choice but to support Ying Kong Shi. Xing Jiu met with Ka Suo and updated him on Li Luo's journey.

Ka Suo, with a profound understanding of Li Luo's heart, felt no need for a message, acknowledging their deep, unspoken connection. Ka Suo then shifted the conversation to the succession, stating his belief that Ying Kong Shi would make a good King, though he knew not everyone shared his view. He revealed that he was now focused on the mysterious black fog that had attacked him, believing it to be the true enemy and his destiny to confront.

However, he admitted he still couldn't control the sword spirit within his body. Xing Jiu suggested that Ying Kong Shi's God Devouring Sword might be able to suppress the sword spirits, and together they set off to find Ying Kong Shi. Xuan Ta, one of the Seven Saints, arrived at Ying Kong Shi's Illusion Sky with a group of soldiers, demanding he hand over the God Devouring Sword to ensure a fair duel with Ka Suo.

Ying Kong Shi scornfully refused, challenging them to take it if they could and letting the uncontrollable sword attack them. He stated he would not help them and blamed whoever ordered them to retrieve the sword for their impending demise, accusing that person of using sly tricks to defeat him. Just then, Ka Suo and Xing Jiu arrived. The out-of-control God Devouring Sword unexpectedly plunged into Ka Suo's body.

To everyone's astonishment, instead of harming him, the sword instead suppressed the tumultuous sword spirits within Ka Suo. Back at the palace, the Ice King confronted the Ice Queen, having discovered that she was the one who ordered Xuan Ta to retrieve the God Devouring Sword. A heated argument erupted between the Ice Queen and Lian Ji. Lian Ji accused the Ice Queen of using underhanded tactics, which would only bring shame to Ka Suo.

The Ice Queen retorted that Ying Kong Shi would not be where he was without Ka Suo's past sacrifices, to which Lian Ji fiercely countered that without Ying Kong Shi, the entire Ice Tribe would have been long destroyed by the Fire Tribe. Seeking a truly fair resolution amidst the discord, the Ice King declared that the succession would not be decided by a simple duel.

He announced that he had invited all the Tribe Chiefs to participate, explaining that the next Ice King required not only strength and intelligence but also the respect and loyalty of the various tribes. Therefore, Ka Suo and Ying Kong Shi would each form a team with the tribes willing to follow them, and the ultimate victor would be determined through a team-based competition.

Lian Ji immediately objected, expressing concern that some tribes might purposefully join a team only to lose, thereby manipulating the outcome. The Ice Queen accused Lian Ji of having manipulative thoughts. Xing Jiu intervened, proposing his "Mirror of Truth" to ensure that each Tribe Chief's choice of allegiance would be genuine and fair.
