Tianyi returned home after work to find Luo Fusheng waiting for her outside. She was touched but also chided him for his recent absence and for keeping his birthday a secret, which she had learned about. Luo Fusheng explained that he had been preoccupied with business. Tianyi then presented him with a simple white rose and a cake, wishing him a happy birthday.

Luo Fusheng was deeply moved, confiding that he hadn't celebrated his birthday since his father's death when he was six. Tianyi then expressed her sadness about not knowing her own true birthday. Luo Fusheng promised to help her find her biological parents, pledging to celebrate her real birthday with the world's largest cake. He also mentioned that he had arranged for a renowned doctor named Robert to come to Dongjiang to treat her voice.

Moved by his kindness, Tianyi asked how she could repay him. Luo Fusheng, in turn, told her that from then on, she must wait for him to pick her up every evening after work, to which Tianyi playfully called him her "legendary flower protector." Luo Fusheng then asked if she had any items related to her biological parents, and Tianyi recalled that the only item connecting her to them was a necklace she had given to Xu Xingcheng.

Luo Fusheng returned to MGM to a scene of chaos. Many of his men were injured or dead, evidence of a brutal attack by Xinglong Pavilion. Hong Zhengbao arrived, enraged by what he saw as Xinglong Pavilion's blatant disregard for the Hong family. Hou Li, seizing the opportunity, insinuated that Luo Fusheng's absence from his post was to blame for the attack.

He criticized Luo Fusheng for being distracted by a "singing girl," implying Tianyi, and neglecting his duties, warning of severe consequences for the organization. Confronted by Hong Zhengbao, Luo Fusheng took full responsibility for the oversight, acknowledging that his negligence led to the attack and the harm to his brothers. Hong Zhengbao warned him to be careful and not repeat the mistake. At the police academy, Xu Xingcheng endured grueling combat training, often looking at Tianyi's photo as his motivation.

He also faced the constant taunts of a bully. His instructor advised him that to fight violence, one must use violence and rely on oneself to become a good policeman. Meanwhile, during a body class, Hong Lan sprained her foot. Despite her desire to continue training, Lin Qikai insisted on taking her to the hospital. The doctor confirmed it was a minor sprain requiring a few days of rest.

Lin Qikai told her to take time off from her physical classes. Hong Lan thanked him, admitting that his strict guidance helped her overcome her heartbreak and find new purpose. She expressed her ambition to become the best actress in Shanghai and even the world, wanting both Luo Fusheng and Lin Qikai to witness her transformation. Lin Qikai, masking his deeper feelings, reiterated that he viewed her as a sister and was pleased with her newfound drive.

After ensuring Hong Lan was settled, Lin Qikai saw Xu Xingyuan teaching children to draw at the hospital. He complimented her dedication to helping the children express themselves through art. A flower seller mistook them for a couple, prompting Lin Qikai to buy a flower for Xu Xingyuan. He noted that the flower was his deceased love Ruomeng's favorite and that Xu Xingyuan reminded him of her.

Back at the police academy, Xu Xingcheng was once again confronted by the bully, who called him a "soft persimmon," taunted him, and then snatched Tianyi's photo, threatening her. Enraged, Xu Xingcheng tried to retaliate, but an instructor intervened. The instructor then told Xu Xingcheng that to reclaim what was important, violence was sometimes necessary. He advised Xu Xingcheng to "use his brain" in tomorrow's decisive fight, warning that failure would mean he was "nothing."

The final combat competition began, pitting Xu Xingcheng against his tormentor. The bully continued to provoke Xu Xingcheng, reminding him he still possessed Tianyi's photo. Despite the bully's taunts, Xu Xingcheng, drawing on his past medical knowledge, skillfully struck the bully's vulnerable points, incapacitating him. Xu Xingcheng then fiercely warned the bully against ever harming Tianyi, declaring that a man who once wielded a scalpel knew how to inflict suffering that would make one wish for death.

The instructor declared Xu Xingcheng the victor. Xu Xingcheng reclaimed Tianyi's photo, having overcome his weakness. Later, Xu Xingyuan invited Lin Qikai to meet her and draw. She presented him with a handmade dried flower bookmark, crafted from a flower he had previously given her. She explained its preciousness due to its origin and hoped it would remind him of her and bring him peace whenever he used it, making him smile.

Lin Qikai, understanding her unspoken affection, thanked her and promised to cherish it, though his heart remained dedicated to Hong Lan and he gently indicated his inability to reciprocate her romantic feelings. Xu Xingcheng graduated from the police academy, receiving congratulations for his resilience and remarkable transformation. He returned home to his sister, Xu Xingyuan, who remarked on his newfound strength and robust appearance.

Their father, Xu Ruian, expressed surprise and satisfaction with Xu Xingcheng's improved performance, though Xu Xingcheng maintained he did it only for himself. Xu Ruian then mentioned new work assignments for both his children and plans for a memorial for their mother. Meanwhile, Luo Fusheng took Tianyi to a pawnshop to inquire about her necklace.

The owner, intimidated by Luo Fusheng, confirmed that the necklace Tianyi had pawned was a unique, valuable custom-made piece, and that only a few master craftsmen in Dongjiang could have made it. Luo Fusheng, to ensure his cooperation, offered the owner a three-year exemption from protection fees if he could locate the craftsman. Luo Fusheng assured Tianyi that finding the maker of the pendant would be a significant breakthrough in uncovering her origins.

Tianyi playfully teased Luo Fusheng about his seemingly rough exterior hiding a clever mind, and they briefly discussed the importance of a "smile service" in his dealings. Later, as Xu Xingcheng visited a flower shop to select flowers for his mother's memorial, he unexpectedly encountered Tianyi and Luo Fusheng. He was shocked and angered to learn that Tianyi had never actually left Dongjiang, as he had been led to believe.

Xu Xingcheng confronted them, accusing them of conspiring to deceive him and feeling profoundly betrayed by both his best friend and the woman he loved. Overwhelmed with disappointment, he stormed out, feeling like an "idiot" for having believed their lies.
