Fifteen Years to Wait for Migratory Birds Episode 1 Recap
> Fifteen Years to Wait for Migratory Birds Recap
In 2016, Pei Shangxuan returned to his alma mater for its 50th-anniversary celebration, fifteen years after his graduation. Once a student with poor grades and known for being troublesome, he was now a successful CEO of a group company, well-regarded and decisive, drawing enthusiastic crowds of younger students. Pei Shangxuan believed that this transformation and focus on his career was the best way to forget Li Li. On the very same day, Li Li was scheduled to marry Liu Qianren.
Pei Shangxuan had received their wedding invitation, which stirred a mixture of complex emotions within him. He reminisced about his school days with Li Li: he was addicted to playing football and often lazy about doing his assigned chores. Li Li, unable to tolerate his behavior, confiscated his football and ordered him to do his chores on time. What started as an antagonistic relationship soon developed into friendship—possibly after Li Li tutored him—and then blossomed into love.
However, their relationship eventually ended in a breakup. Pei Shangxuan vividly recalled the day Li Li initiated their separation, explaining that life is like a train where some people get on and others must get off, and after sharing a journey, letting go when the time is right is the best ending for both. Despite her words at the time, Li Li still deeply loved Pei Shangxuan.
She had kept a journal or diaries where she recorded her feelings after the breakup, constantly reminding herself to forget him. Yet, she ultimately succumbed to her own weakness, unable to forget Pei Shangxuan for years. On her wedding day, she chose to elope or escape. Her best friend, Li Jun, who was serving as a bridesmaid for the first time, was distraught by the bride's disappearance.
While searching for Li Li, Li Jun discovered her notebook or diaries, which were filled with Li Li's thoughts and emotions for Pei Shangxuan. Suspecting Li Li's disappearance was connected to Pei Shangxuan, Li Jun rushed to the school to confront him during his speech, demanding to know Li Li's whereabouts. Pei Shangxuan took the notebook from Li Jun, and upon reading a few pages, was overwhelmed with mixed emotions.
For all these years, he had believed he had moved out of Li Li's heart, only to discover that the opposite was true: he had remained there all along. With the wedding imminent, Pei Shangxuan abandoned his speech plans, leaving the auditorium at top speed under the gaze of teachers and students, and drove to the wedding venue. He explicitly told Li Jun, "I won't let Li Li marry someone else."
Meanwhile, the groom, Liu Qianren, remained unaware of Li Li's escape, preparing to walk her down the aisle, even during the final rehearsal. Pei Shangxuan arrived at the venue, believing Liu Qianren had failed Li Li. He rushed forward, grabbed Liu Qianren by the collar, and accused him of not having cherished Li Li properly. Liu Qianren, shocked and enraged upon learning of Li Li's disappearance, engaged in a physical altercation with Pei Shangxuan.
The two men fought, yelling and threatening each other, completely tearing apart the romantic and warm wedding atmosphere. During this chaos, Li Jun, realizing she had forgotten her wallet, took a taxi to the wedding venue, with Daniel covering the fare for her.
