Ji Ruochen awoke to find himself in an unfamiliar place, quickly learning from a young man named Yu Tong that they were in Nine Hells Qiyou City. Ji Ruochen immediately asked about Zhang Yinyin. Yu Tong explained that a badly injured female fox spirit, matching her description and with several tails, had been taken to a stone house by the sea by the High Priest's people.

Ji Ruochen pleaded with Yu Tong to take him there, despite Yu Tong's initial reluctance due to his duty to find the City Lord for matters. Ji Ruochen soon discovered that all his mortal magic was useless in this new realm. Upon arriving at the stone house, Ji Ruochen found Zhang Yinyin.

She stirred, calling his name and recalling all her past memories, including their time at the Desert Inn, fighting the Bamboo Snake, and her sacrifice in the Monster Forbidden Zone where she exchanged her memories for Nuwa's Tears. As Ji Ruochen attended to her, a powerful blue light, which Ji Ruochen called "Blue Flames," manifested from him. The High Priest of Qiyou City, present at the scene, immediately recognized these as "Divine Flames," recorded in the Code of Qiyou City.

Overjoyed, he knelt, begging Ji Ruochen to use this power to save the citizens of Qiyou City. Ji Ruochen, however, was solely focused on Zhang Yinyin's recovery, heartbroken that his Blue Flames could save himself but not her. During their time in Qiyou City, Ji Ruochen and Zhang Yinyin finally found peace. Since mortal magic had no sway here, Zhang Yinyin's memories remained stable, allowing them to enjoy a serene life together.

Yu Tong revealed to Zhang Yinyin that her amnesia, induced by the Emotion-Devouring Venerable, was completely ineffective in the Nine Hells, leading her to express a desire to stay there forever. One day, Ji Ruochen proposed to Zhang Yinyin, presenting his "body" as his only betrothal gift and promising to always obey her. Their wedding was a joyful occasion, attended by many, as they completed the traditional bows to heaven, earth, and each other, finally becoming husband and wife.

However, their happiness was short-lived. Soon after their marriage, Zhang Yinyin's condition worsened, prompting Ji Ruochen to rush her back to their room. Yu Tong then revealed a harsh truth: the High Priest had deceived them. The juice of Baijiu Trees, which the High Priest claimed would dissolve the immortal energy in Zhang Yinyin's body, had no such effect.

Yu Tong, who had eavesdropped on the High Priest and the Grand Priest, explained that Zhang Yinyin's immortal energy had already damaged her vital organs, putting her life in constant danger. He had been caught for listening but managed to escape to warn them. The High Priest, fearing his deception would be fully exposed, then explained his true motives.

He spoke of a colossal tower that had emerged from the depths of the Nine Hells tens of millions of years ago. This tower inexplicably rose and periodically unleashed devastating Demon Flames, destroying parts of the city and causing chaos among various cities, which were subsequently consumed, leaving Qiyou City as the last remaining settlement.

The High Priest explained that the Code of Qiyou City foretold that the Divine Flames, which had once grown where the tower now stood, were destined to conquer it. When the Divine Flames reappeared, it would be the time to destroy the tower, and only Ji Ruochen, bearing the Divine Flames, could accomplish this. Ji Ruochen recalled his former master, Ziwei Zhenren, who had once told him about the Shura Tower.

Ziwei Zhenren had described it as a mysterious entity, neither wholly good nor evil, that drew its existence from the Blue Flames. He had prophesied that only by destroying the tower could the Blue Flames return to their rightful path. Ji Ruochen, hoping to find a cure for Zhang Yinyin, questioned the High Priest if mastering the Blue Flames by destroying the tower would allow him to heal her.

Zhang Yinyin, who had woken up and joined their conversation, firmly disagreed. She reminded Ji Ruochen that Yu Tong had already told her about the tower and the many people from Qiyou City who had attempted to destroy it, none of whom ever returned.

She pleaded with him not to risk his life, reminding him of his wedding promise to always listen to her, and of their shared dreams for a peaceful life, planting vegetables and raising chickens in their yard. She stated emphatically that she did not want him to venture into danger for her. Ji Ruochen, unable to argue further, reluctantly agreed to her wishes.

Meanwhile, in a parallel development, the Imperial Advisor, believing Ji Ruochen was doomed, had rallied various sects to attack the Xixuan Sect. The Xixuan Mountains were heavily guarded, with their formidable Wuya Formation reinforced, as outside forces relentlessly tried to breach their defenses. Mr. Wang Chen of Wugou Manor, renowned for his knowledge of formations, was confident in breaking the Xixuan's Wuya Formation, instructing his disciple Wuhua to lead the assault.

Sun Guo's forces successfully initiated the attack, causing cracks to appear in the Xixuan Wuya Formation. During this siege, Yinfeng arrived. When confronted by the Imperial Advisor, Yinfeng clarified that his presence was not to aid in the attack on the Xixuan Sect, but to meet the mysterious individual from the Zhenwu Temple Underground Palace. He sought another way to help Gu Qing regain her immortal dharma-laksana, as the Soul of Immortal Cloud had proven ineffective.

The Imperial Advisor, eager for Yinfeng's formidable assistance, subtly coerced him by questioning his commitment to maintaining peace in the Three Realms if he only pursued Ji Ruochen but ignored the Xixuan Sect, which was accused of destroying spiritual caves. Though displeased by the manipulation, Yinfeng eventually agreed to help. Gu Qing then appeared, scolding Yinfeng for compromising with those who exploited "justice of the world" for their own selfish desires.

Simultaneously, Ziwei Zhenren, the master of a concerned disciple, deliberated on the Xixuan conflict. His disciple vehemently argued that the Xixuan Sect's actions regarding the spiritual caves were not for selfish gain, and that their disciples exhibited integrity, urging Ziwei Zhenren to intervene and help Xixuan. Ziwei Zhenren, though admitting his own confusion about Xixuan's motives, refused to actively aid them, stating they deserved their current predicament.

Frustrated by his master's perceived inability to distinguish right from wrong, the disciple declared her intention to return to Xixuan Mountains. However, Ziwei Zhenren, fearing for her safety, confined her to the Yunzhong Residence, preventing her from leaving.
