Gu Qing tearfully confronted Ji Ruochen, demanding to know why he had agreed to marry her if he never truly loved her. Ji Ruochen admitted it was because she had once saved his life. Gu Qing was devastated, realizing that the entire engagement was a deception, designed to serve his hidden agenda with Zhang Yinyin. Despite having intended to feign indifference and stay with him until old age, her spirit was broken by his deceit.

She questioned if he ever harbored even the slightest desire to marry her, to which he chillingly replied, "Never." Overwhelmed by sorrow, Ji Ruochen apologized and declared his intention to tell their Master to cancel their engagement. Driven by a desperate need to find Zhang Yinyin, Ji Ruochen sought out the Nine-Tailed Heavenly Fox, who he believed had last seen her.

The Heavenly Fox, still furious over Ji Ruochen's betrayal of Zhang Yinyin, threatened to kill him, asserting it would be better if he never saw Zhang Yinyin again. Ji Ruochen acknowledged his grave error and pleaded for a chance to explain himself to Zhang Yinyin face-to-face. Testing his sincerity, the Heavenly Fox demanded his eyes. Without hesitation, Ji Ruochen offered them, stating he would give anything to see her.

Seeing his unwavering resolve, the Heavenly Fox called him a "silly boy," confirming that Zhang Yinyin had indeed been there but had already departed. Ji Ruochen was consumed by remorse, realizing the depth of Zhang Yinyin's pain. Meanwhile, a heartbroken Gu Qing drowned her sorrows alone. Yinfeng found her in her despair, reminding her of their enduring bond, which transcended mere romantic love. He gently guided her back to Yun Zhong Ju.

Elsewhere, Qing Yi, concerned for Zhang Yinyin, followed her. She urged Zhang Yinyin to return with her to the Endless Sea, arguing that the mortal world was too painful and that the Endless Sea offered a quiet solace. Zhang Yinyin, however, declined, expressing a desire to wander the world alone, hoping to truly forget Ji Ruochen. She admitted uncertainty about whether she could truly forget him, but felt that living unburdened and traveling freely would bring her peace.

In another turn of events, Shang Qiushui emerged victorious in a combat against Shi Ji. This victory, combined with the visible affections between them, sparked a new hope for alliance between the Xixuan Sect and Yun Zhong Ju. Hierarch Jinshan of Yun Zhong Ju, accompanied by his disciples, visited the Master of Xixuan Sect, demanding an explanation for Ji Ruochen's abandonment of Gu Qing, which had greatly shamed Yun Zhong Ju.

The Master of Xixuan Sect, eager to mend ties and secure Jingxiao Zhenren's cure, humbly apologized and proposed a new marriage alliance. Senior Yunfeng recommended Shang Qiushui as an ideal candidate among Xixuan's young talents. Impressed by Shang Qiushui's character, Hierarch Jinshan asked Shi Ji if she would agree to the marriage. Shi Ji, who already harbored feelings for Shang Qiushui, readily agreed.

Hierarch Jinshan, however, stipulated that Shang Qiushui would need to become a live-in son-in-law for Yun Zhong Ju. In return, Hierarch Jinshan promised to lift the strange poison afflicting Jingxiao Zhenren, honoring an earlier agreement contingent on the alliance. The Master of Xixuan Sect reminded Shang Qiushui that he would not force the marriage, given Ji Ruochen's previous actions, and that Shang Qiushui's personal happiness was paramount.

As a result of this renewed alliance, Shang Qiushui and Shi Ji married smoothly, and Jingxiao Zhenren finally awoke from his illness, expressing his gratitude to Yun Zhong Ju for their aid. Out in the mortal world, Zhang Yinyin continued her solitary travels, seeking to forget Ji Ruochen. However, news of the Xixuan Sect and its recent events seemed inescapable. She overheard conversations about "limited-edition dolls" commemorating the marriage alliance between Xixuan Sect and Yun Zhong Ju.

Despite her efforts to remain unseen, she noticed people carrying her portrait and inquiring about her whereabouts, realizing Ji Ruochen was relentlessly searching for her. Zhang Yinyin quietly hid herself, unsure how she could ever face him again.
