After enjoying a hearty lunch that Lin Haoshu and Chi Yu had prepared for her, Wen Suxi inquired if the food was takeout. Lin Haoshu proudly explained that Chi Yu had cooked everything under his guidance, detailing what Suxi liked, wanted, and could eat, especially since she was recovering from an illness. He emphasized that the fish soup was the best for her, made with fresh fish he bought that morning.
Suxi playfully reminded him that he had previously forbidden her from eating fish and wondered if there was a supermarket sale. Chi Yu advised her to drink the fish soup and eat fewer ginkgo nuts for her health. Lin Haoshu then informed her that he had finished adapting his manga into a script and sent it to her email for her to review at her leisure.
Wen Suxi offered him a payment, but Lin Haoshu refused, stating he should be thanking her for the opportunity. After some playful banter, he reluctantly accepted the money for the time being, telling her to finish her soup. Their conversation shifted to work as You You excitedly announced that they had found several interested investors and platforms. However, they required a sample film featuring popular stars and a renowned director.
Wen Suxi questioned the need for a sample if they already had popular stars. You You clarified that as it was their first web drama, the investors lacked trust and needed a preview. Wen Suxi then tasked Lin Haoshu with writing a 3 to 5-minute script that could also be used in the main feature, to which he enthusiastically agreed. You You updated them on the new company's registration process, mentioning that the contract seal would be ready soon.
Wen Suxi stressed the importance of quickly forming the cast and crew. She was confident about securing directors, as many had previously sought to collaborate with her. For the male lead, You You suggested Chi Yu, whose fan base was rapidly growing, noting he was their own artist. Wen Suxi warned Chi Yu not to become complacent and stated she would replace him if he didn't work hard.
Regarding the female lead, Wen Suxi knew they needed a "bigwig" for the platforms to sign on. You You suggested asking Tang Mao for his extensive resources, but Wen Suxi worried about the high remuneration. Lin Haoshu then proposed Duola, hoping their good relationship would mean she wouldn't demand a high fee. Meanwhile, Duola's assistant, Natie, informed her about a meeting with a Hollywood blockbuster director that night, offering a guest role as an opportunity to enter the international market.
Natie described a potential role of a "super woman warrior" who had mutated after nuclear radiation exposure, deeming it very suitable for Duola. Duola, however, took offense, humorously asking if she looked like she had been exposed to nuclear radiation, and firmly declared she would not attend, instructing Natie to tell them she was "treating nuclear radiation." Later, Duola and Natie were at an amusement park carnival, an event Natie described as a "night activity for couples."
Duola found the idea boring, especially compared to the dinner meeting Natie had tried to push her towards. She noticed a "Couple Package" poster. Elsewhere, Chi Yu was contemplating how to help Wen Suxi overcome a coming "disaster." He approached Suxi, asking for a plush pendant, claiming he kept losing his keys. Suxi gave him one, but it wasn't the specific type he seemed to be looking for, and he appeared troubled.
Suxi, still wrestling with her decision, asked Chi Yu if he thought she should talk to Duola, and he encouraged her to try if she felt it was right. Wen Suxi, Chi Yu, and You You eventually met with Duola and her manager, Ping, at the gym. Wen Suxi introduced Chi Yu as a potential male lead for the sample film.
Duola reminded Wen Suxi of her own past advice against taking on "arduous but fruitless" sample roles, citing low pay and the risk of being replaced in the main feature. Wen Suxi countered that such roles were worth considering for an interesting script, provided that the contracts for both the sample and main feature were signed together to maximize an actor's benefits. Duola noted that Wen Suxi had changed. Ping interjected, expressing concerns about Duola's busy schedule.
Duola then asked if Chi Yu was definitively cast as the male lead. Wen Suxi responded that it was "possibly" him but assured Duola that Chi Yu had a certain level of fame and would receive acting coaching if needed. Duola finally agreed to consider the role if she were to play opposite Chi Yu. She and Ping then departed. As Duola prepared to leave, Chi Yu stopped her.
Wen Suxi, confused, asked what he was doing, and he replied he was simply seeing them off. Chi Yu requested to speak with Duola alone. Once alone, he directly told Duola that he wanted her to stay away from Wen Suxi—not to meet her, talk to her, or have any relationship with her. Duola was angered, demanding to know why she should obey him and accusing him of suggesting she would harm Wen Suxi, questioning his relationship with Suxi.
Chi Yu stated they were "ordinary friends" and denied that Wen Suxi had sent him. He reiterated his warning, saying it would be better for both of them. Duola asked if he was crazy. Chi Yu then demanded her pendant, the one that matched his vision. Duola suggested he buy his own, but he insisted on hers.
She eventually agreed, but only on the condition that he accompany her to the amusement park, urging him to come quickly while Natie was away. On their way to the amusement park, Duola suggested they walk since it was close, romanticizing the idea of walking in the rain. She then spotted a hairpin and had Chi Yu buy it for her.
He asked for the pendant again, but Duola insisted she had promised it "after" the amusement park, and that the hairpin was not an exchange. Despite this, she eventually handed him the pendant. Chi Yu expressed his gratitude for her help, especially since her only condition was his company at the amusement park. Meanwhile, Wen Suxi was having a difficult time securing a director.
She made several phone calls, but one director claimed his father was sick, another was on vacation abroad, and a third hung up on her, implying that working with Wen Suxi would lead to problems. She grew increasingly frustrated, even threatening to hit someone if provoked. Eventually, she arrived at Director Feng's office. His assistant tried to turn her away, first claiming the director wasn't in, then that he was in a meeting and would be very late.
Wen Suxi, who had seen Director Feng's car in the garage, insisted on waiting outside, even as it began to rain heavily. At the same time, Lin Haoshu was teaching at an interest class when he noticed Wang Xiaomi was absent again. He called her as her teacher. Wang Xiaomi, conflicted, found an excuse by flipping a coin. Later, Wang Xiaomi met Lin Haoshu, and they sat down to chat, resolving their previous awkwardness.
Lin Haoshu revealed that he was helping Wen Suxi write a script, adapting his manga, which Wang Xiaomi looked forward to. As Wen Suxi waited outside Director Feng's office, drenched in the heavy rain, Chi Yu, having been sent by Duola to fetch an umbrella, found her. You You also arrived, admonishing Suxi for being out in the rain so soon after leaving the hospital and offering to buy her an umbrella.
Before You You could go, Chi Yu subtly used his powers to open a large umbrella right beside Wen Suxi, sheltering her. This triggered a vivid flashback for Chi Yu: in a past life, he was tied up and it was raining heavily when a woman named Ji Wan, who resembled Wen Suxi, saved him. She offered him water, lamenting that if he were an ordinary person, she could stay by his side forever.
He had stopped the rain then and created a rainbow. Back in the present, Duola observed Chi Yu gazing at Wen Suxi from a distance, realizing he might have feelings for her, and silently departed. You You and Wen Suxi, unaware of Chi Yu's powers, attributed the opening of the umbrella to Director Feng, taking it as a positive sign. Back home, Wen Suxi confronted Chi Yu.
He offered her the hairpin he had bought, stating he thought it was cute and wanted to give it to her. Wen Suxi was furious, having seen Duola's social media post from 20 minutes prior, showing her with the hairpin while Suxi was struggling to secure a director. She accused Chi Yu of "naked betrayal" by "dating a girl" when he should have been helping. Chi Yu argued that meeting Duola was not a betrayal.
He then abruptly ordered her and Lin Haoshu to go inside the house, which they grumbled about. Once they were inside, Chi Yu’s demeanor changed; he scanned the surroundings, sensing an unseen presence. He suspected the Curator, wondering if a great calamity was drawing near. Meanwhile, Tang Mao and Cai Shumeng were at a business dinner with Japanese clients, Mr. Kato and Mr. Takahashi.
Cai Shumeng commented that Tang Mao had seemed distracted earlier but his presence made her feel secure. She reflected on how even strong women like Wen Suxi had a soft side in front of someone they truly liked, and advised Tang Mao that he needed to "stand the test of time." Tang Mao wearily questioned if he just had to wait, expressing that waiting too long can tire the heart, which is why he avoided keeping flowers at home.
During the dinner, the clients encouraged Cai Shumeng to drink excessively. Mr. Kato insinuated that Tang Mao and Cai Shumeng were a couple, which Tang Mao denied. Mr. Kato then offered to escort the inebriated Cai Shumeng back to her room, but Tang Mao intervened, firmly stating he would take her himself.
Cai Shumeng worried about offending the clients, but Tang Mao dismissed her concerns, saying that if they wouldn't cooperate over such a matter, then the collaboration wasn't worth it. In her room, a drunken Cai Shumeng clung to Tang Mao, professing her love and promising him things Wen Suxi could not. Tang Mao gently pushed her away, asking how Mr. Qian, with whom he knew Cai Shumeng had a relationship, would react.
Cai Shumeng retorted that it had nothing to do with Mr. Qian. Tang Mao simply told her to get some rest before leaving. Later, Chi Yu found Wen Suxi in her room, shivering and with a high fever from being out in the rain. He gently carried her to her bed and went to find medicine. Lin Haoshu entered, distraught, lamenting Suxi's stubbornness for waiting outside in the rain, despite being so sick.
Delirious with fever, Wen Suxi mistook her surroundings for a dream. She pulled Chi Yu down beside her, asking him not to leave and letting her lean on him. This intimate moment was witnessed by Lin Haoshu from the doorway.
