Crush Recap

Episode 1 Recap

Senior college student Sang Wuyan, about to graduate, works as an assistant at a radio station. When host Nie Xi of the “27. 1 Golden Hits” channel is unexpectedly held up on her way to work, Sang Wuyan is urgently asked to fill in. She changes the pre-written script on her own, attracting listeners' attention. Just before things escalate, Sister Xi returns in time. After finishing a song, Wuyan improvises and successfully smooths over the situation.

Currently one of the most sought-after songwriters, Su Nianqin, using the pseudonym "Yi Jin", gives his new song to a relatively unknown singer. Popular star Xu Guanchun calls Yi Jin’s assistant, questioning the decision. Yi Jin asks his assistant to park near a park so he can calm down there. After work, Sang Wuyan is harassed by her ex-boyfriend and storms off in anger.

She ends up sitting on a park bench, listening to music, and starts singing along—completely off-key and tone-deaf. Nearby, Yi Jin, listening to classical violin music, is disturbed. Sang Wuyan doesn’t realize this man is Yi Jin, nor that he has an eye condition; all she sees is that he’s incredibly handsome. Hearing Yi Jin’s new song on the campus radio, Sang Wuyan expresses for the countless time her admiration for him.

Yi Jin’s decision to give his new song to an unknown artist leaves his long-time collaborator, the popular singer Xu Guanchun, very dissatisfied. Even though Yi Jin’s assistant repeatedly explains that Xu Guanchun’s voice doesn’t suit the song, Xu still believes Yi Jin is deliberately suppressing him. Wuyan breaks up with her boyfriend Wei Hao and ends her friendship with Xu Qian after witnessing them kissing.

Her close friend Cheng Yin tries to comfort her, but Wuyan isn’t too upset—her heart already belongs to her idol, Yi Jin. A shocking news story surfaces: “A woman claims to be songwriter Yi Jin and reveals romantic ties with singer Xu Guanchun.” Wuyan is stunned—her dream man is a woman? Su Nianqin’s manager is deeply concerned about the negative impact of this publicity stunt, but Su Nianqin remains calm.

With his eye condition, his world is dark, quiet, and pure. Fame and fortune mean little to him. Nie Xi, who knows Yi Jin’s real identity, once tried to invite him to the radio station for an interview, but failed. Now, after being reprimanded for the false Yi Jin, she is forced to invite the impostor on air. As a friend of Su Nianqin’s manager, she persuades the real Yi Jin to finally agree to the program.

Sang Wuyan, who’s interning at the radio station, happens to share an elevator with Su Nianqin. However, she receives a message from Cheng Yin saying that a roll call is happening at school, and she can’t sign in on her behalf. Wuyan has to leave suddenly, missing the chance to meet Yi Jin for real. Originally a psychology major, Sang Wuyan is assigned an internship location by her university and chooses a special education school.

Her advisor—once a student of Wuyan’s father—is very supportive. Though understanding her passion for radio, the advisor still hopes she’ll consider her parents’ wishes. After the talk, Wuyan hears the last bit of Yi Jin’s audio interview and realizes that the guest she just missed was her dream man. Reporting early at the special education school, Wuyan runs into Su Nianqin, who teaches there. His sharp hearing quickly makes him recognize her voice as the girl he met in the park and in the radio station elevator.

Episode 2 Recap

Su Nianqin takes Sang Wuyan to the dean’s office. Despite his poor eyesight, he accurately fills a thermos with hot water, impressing Wuyan. Back in the dorm, she tells Cheng Yin about the handsome guy she met in the park, speculates on the meaning behind his name and his personality. Cheng Yin jokingly says she should wipe the drool from her chin first. The next day at the internship school, Wuyan hears Su Nianqin playing piano—his music is beautiful.

Later at the radio station, she learns she’s been reassigned to the news department due to staff changes. Sister Xi believes the news department offers better growth and networking opportunities. To her surprise, Wuyan finds Xu Qian is also an intern there. Xu Qian still feels guilty about the kiss with Wei Hao and has wanted to apologize, but hasn’t had the chance. At a classmate’s birthday dinner, Wei Hao shows up and orders beef, claiming it’s Wuyan’s favorite.

Wuyan bluntly says she doesn’t want to talk to him. In a hallway argument at the karaoke venue, Wei Hao claims there’s nothing between him and Xu Qian and that the kiss was just drunken nonsense. He begs Wuyan to stop being childish and ignoring him. Knowing all too well that he’s full of lies, Wuyan doesn’t believe the “accident” story—especially since Xu Qian is the one who loves beef. Wuyan is allergic to it.

If Wei Hao still insists the kiss was coincidental, it’s simply irresponsible. During a video call with her parents, Wuyan’s mother urges her to consider grad school and says it would be best to clearly end things with Wei Hao. Otherwise, it’ll make it awkward for her father to deal with his friend—Wei Hao’s father. The dean wants Su Nianqin to stay on and teach permanently, but Su declines. Due to his health, he’s only filling in temporarily.

He also learns from the dean that Sang Wuyan is only there as part of her university internship and will leave in a few months after earning her credits. During a music class Wuyan is substituting, she invites Su Nianqin to play piano. He initially refuses, but after walking a few steps, he turns back and takes his seat at the piano. Wuyan teaches the children to sing “Twinkle Twinkle Little Star,” but her singing is horribly off-key.

Su Nianqin winces but follows her tune on the piano, creating a completely out-of-tune version of the song. The kids end up singing just as off-key. Halfway through, the musical genius Su Nianqin can’t take the disharmony anymore. He storms off, but after a few steps, realizing it’s inappropriate, he forces himself to return and finish the song. After class, he scolds Wuyan for treating the internship as merely a way to earn credits.

Wei Hao’s band, Taozi Band, is practicing in their studio when Xu Qian—once a member—arrives and says she’s quitting. Wei Hao’s father, on a business trip to Wuyan and Wei Hao’s school, delivers tangyuan (glutinous rice balls) from Wuyan’s father to her. Wei Hao tells Wuyan that Xu Qian quit the band and admits he might really be a jerk. At home, Sang Wuyan cooks the tangyuan and reminisces about eating them with Xu Qian back in high school. Time has passed, and friendships have changed. The next day, she shares the tangyuan her dad brought with the teachers at the internship school.

Episode 3 Recap

Student Xiaowei misses the group medical checkup due to being late. Previously, Director Li had told the students to return to the classroom if they couldn’t find the teacher or classmates. Xiaowei goes back and bursts into tears. Su Nianqin, passing by, hears her crying and rushes in to comfort her. Realizing someone is missing, Wuyan returns to the classroom and picks Xiaowei up from Su Nianqin.

Su Nianqin learns from Director Li that Sang Wuyan is also teaching temporarily and will be at the school for about half a year. Su is picked up by his manager with some tangyuan in tow. Surprised that he received food from a colleague despite his bad temper, the manager teases him. Su replies that he doesn’t care—he just wants to go home.

That evening, while having dinner together, the manager tastes the tangyuan and says food made by family has a special warmth—it’s full of love. This hits a sore spot for Su Nianqin, and the manager quickly apologizes. Sang Wuyan sees Su Nianqin being dropped off by a glamorous woman in a BMW on a rainy day and gets curious.

When Su returns to the office, she offers to put away his umbrella, joking that if it’s his girlfriend’s umbrella, he probably wouldn’t want anyone else to touch it. Su simply thanks her and lets go of the umbrella. The two chat in the office about ancient poetry, with Su Nianqin displaying deep knowledge, highlighting Wuyan’s weakness in classical Chinese literature. Wuyan tells Cheng Yin about the elegant woman who dropped Su off.

Cheng Yin begins speculating wildly—maybe the woman is a rich patron keeping Su, or vice versa. Wuyan scolds her, but she also admits that she can’t figure out their relationship either. Su Nianqin gives his new song to a rising indie artist, and it’s met with great praise. When Wuyan hears the song, she finds the melody very familiar—she suspects it’s the same one Su played earlier.

The lyrics are based on the ancient poetry story they had discussed in the office. Thinking back to their elevator encounter, Wuyan starts to suspect that Yi Jin and Su Nianqin are the same person. Prompted by Cheng Yin, Wuyan listens repeatedly to Yi Jin’s old interviews, trying to compare the voices. After careful listening, she becomes excited—she’s nearly certain that Yi Jin is Su Nianqin!

Wei Hao sees Xu Qian working part-time at a restaurant and recalls her scolding him for two-timing. He’s a bit melancholy—he really did have some feelings for her. Sang Wuyan is helping another teacher deliver supplies to a welfare center, where she runs into Su Nianqin visiting Xiaowei. After leaving, she bluntly asks him if he’s really Yi Jin. Su, caught off guard, doesn’t answer. A moment later, Su asks back, “Who is Yi Jin?”

But Wuyan, nearly certain of the truth, ignores the deflection. After Xu Qian finishes work, she runs into Su and Wuyan on a bench. Wuyan quickly grabs Su’s arm and claims he’s her boyfriend. Su is reluctant to play along. Wuyan, thinking quickly, puts on a dramatic performance about a girl heartbroken by a jerk. Surrounded by onlookers, Su Nianqin finally gives in.

Episode 4 Recap

Under Sang Wuyan’s “unreasonable tantrum,” Su Nianqin finally agreed to go to KFC with her. Wuyan shared everything about her past—she grew up with her childhood friend Wei Hao, met her best friend Xu Qian in sophomore year of high school, and the three of them were inseparable, from high school to college, from one city and school to another.

She thought everything remained the same until one day she saw the two of them kissing under a streetlamp—suddenly, everything felt different. When his agent came to pick Su Nianqin up, Wuyan joked, “See you tomorrow, baby’s dad.” The agent later told his family about Su Nianqin being dragged to his least favorite noisy environment—KFC. Wuyan told Cheng Yin everything that happened that day. Her bestie once again jumped to conclusions about a mysterious romance, leaving Wuyan speechless.

Wuyan learned that Xiaowei would be celebrating her birthday this month and planned to help the school organize a party for her. She invited Su Nianqin to join, but he declined. While fetching hot water, she accidentally scalded Su Nianqin’s hand. In a panic, she broke off a piece of aloe to apply on him. Smelling the aloe, Su Nianqin later asked his assistant to buy a pot of aloe for him to keep at home.

The next day, seeing the kids eating snacks in class but no one sharing with Xiaowei, Wuyan bought a bunch of snacks for her. Just as she was about to hand them over, Su Nianqin stopped her. He explained that what the children needed wasn’t snacks from the teacher. Wuyan said that within her capability, this was the biggest help she could offer.

Su Nianqin told her that if she couldn’t provide real help, it would be better to do nothing. When Wuyan questioned him, he revealed that he had also grown up in a welfare institution. That night, Su Nianqin dreamed of being abandoned. His mother handed him a box of candy and told him she would leave him there temporarily, and once things got better at home, she would take him back. Then he heard the sound of a car crash.

Waking up from the nightmare, Su Nianqin frantically played the piano, crying as he played. The next day, Teacher Li brought many oranges as teaching tools. Wuyan drew a clown face on one and gave it to Su Nianqin. After class, it started raining. Upon learning that Su Nianqin had just left, Wuyan rushed out with an umbrella. She found him calmly standing under a tree and went over to hold the umbrella for him.

She returned the handkerchief he once gave her to wipe her mouth, suggesting he use it to dry his wet shoulder. Su Nianqin hesitated, then accepted it. Under the tree, as they listened to the rain, Wuyan smelled privet blossoms, while Su Nianqin thought it smelled more like holly. Wuyan picked a leaf from the rain and gave it to him, letting him feel the serrated edges of the privet leaf.

Su Nianqin remembered that the aloe he had at home also had serrated edges. Back home, Wuyan told Cheng Yin that she had fallen for Su Nianqin at first sight, but they hadn't yet fallen into the abyss of love. Su Nianqin visited his mother’s grave. His family seemed to want him to come home, but he kept refusing. His agent, Yu Xiaolu, spoke to his family on the phone and said she would try to persuade him.

The next day, a teacher in the office saw the clown-faced orange on Su Nianqin’s desk and joked that it was as grumpy as him. Instead of getting mad, Su Nianqin laughed and even took the orange home. Unexpectedly, Yu Xiaolu ate it, throwing away the peel.

Episode 5 Recap

Sang Wuyan interviewed indie singer Zheng Ye and casually asked why he would collaborate with the currently popular songwriter Yi Jin. Though it was an innocent question, Zheng Ye’s team thought it was an intentional jab. Soon after, the media broke the news that Wuyan had questioned the collaboration, which got her in trouble. She feared Yi Jin would come to dislike her.

The next day at school, she went to the piano room to find Su Nianqin and check his mood. He didn’t seem upset at all and even told her that the piano museum would be hosting a public event over the weekend to introduce piano music to blind music lovers. To impress Su Nianqin and create a shared interest, Wuyan said she liked pianist Chopin because his music was beautiful.

Su Nianqin commented that many people follow the crowd in liking a composer but never truly understand them. To prove she genuinely appreciated such musicians, he went home to take notes online. Over the weekend at the museum, Sang Wuyan came to watch and was randomly selected to go on stage and play a duet with Su Nianqin. To avoid revealing her identity, she kept quiet the whole time, not daring to make a sound.

Little did she know that Su Nianqin had already recognized her. Wuyan got Su Nianqin’s phone number from Teacher Li and hesitated for a long time before finally gathering the courage to call. As soon as he answered, she firmly asked if he was Yi Jin. After a pause, Su Nianqin didn’t deny it. Now Wuyan was sure—Su Nianqin was Yi Jin. Wuyan told him that a very close friend of hers had died in high school.

It was Yi Jin’s music that accompanied her through that dark time when no one else could understand. She had always wanted to thank him in person if she ever met him. After learning that Wuyan knew Su Nianqin was Yi Jin, Yu Xiaolu wanted to talk to her to prevent any leaks to the media. Su Nianqin stopped her, trusting that Wuyan wouldn’t do such a thing.

On Xiaowei’s birthday, Su Nianqin and Sang Wuyan arrived at the orphanage one after the other. Coincidentally, both had brought strawberry cake. When they left, Wuyan asked if the woman who frequently came to pick him up was his girlfriend. Su Nianqin said no. He then said he’d get to ask a question in return—but wanted to save it for later. Back home, Wuyan was delighted.

Cheng Yin, however, remarked that just because the woman wasn’t his girlfriend now didn’t mean she wouldn’t be in the future. Wei Hao pleaded with Xu Qian to return to the band. With the graduation ceremony approaching, they needed her as the lead singer. Xu Qian flatly refused, saying she didn’t have time. Wuyan, returning to campus, overheard their conversation.

As a psychology student, she analyzed that she and Wei Hao had always assumed they couldn’t live without each other—until one day, Wei Hao and Xu Qian fell for each other and kept it secret. That secrecy was what made her the angriest. Wei Hao said Xu Qian had been avoiding him. Wuyan, having sorted out her emotions, was no longer angry and urged him to win her back. A couple expressed interest in adopting Xiaowei. Wuyan was happy, but Su Nianqin disagreed, listing potential problems that could arise after adoption. The two clashed over their differing views.

Episode 6 Recap

At school, Xiaowei approached Wuyan and asked for help rehearsing for a stage performance. Wuyan called Su Nianqin on Xiaowei’s behalf, asking him to help too. During rehearsal, Wuyan sat among the children and sang with them. After singing, she even asked Mr. Su to compliment her. It started to rain after rehearsal. Seeing that Su Nianqin had no umbrella, Wuyan offered to go with him to the convenience store to buy one.

On the way, she held the umbrella for him and ended up getting wet herself. At the store, the clerk reminded them, and Su Nianqin bought a towel for Wuyan to dry herself. Back home, Yu Xiaolu subtly asked Wuyan if she had fallen for Su Nianqin and whether he always acted like the aloof Yi Jin around her. After the kids’ weekend performance, Su Nianqin returned to the classroom alone to play the piano.

Wuyan came to apologize for yesterday’s issue with finding adoptive parents for Xiaowei. She admitted her thoughts were too naive and that she couldn’t take responsibility for Xiaowei’s future after adoption. Su Nianqin shared that he too had performed like Xiaowei when he was young in the welfare center. While some charitable guests truly wanted to help, most people had no idea what these children really needed.

Constantly emphasizing “disabled,” “abandoned,” and “orphaned” to their faces made them grow up feeling inferior. What children really need isn’t pity—it’s equality. After work, Xu Qian couldn’t find a ride due to the remote location and messaged Wuyan for help. Wuyan told Wei Hao to go pick her up. As soon as Xu Qian returned to school, her mother came asking for money. She handed over the only 500 yuan she had and walked away coldly and helplessly.

Su Nianqin asked Yu Xiaolu to look into the couple planning to adopt Xiaowei. After confirming they had no criminal record and seemed to be good people, he finally agreed to the adoption. Based on her psychology training, Wuyan judged that Su Nianqin had certain personality issues due to childhood trauma. She started researching the subject thoroughly, hoping to address the issue professionally. Wuyan planned to take Xiaowei to an amusement park.

Yu Xiaolu encouraged Su Nianqin to go too, teasing that he was too old to never have gone on a date. He declined. But the next day, Su Nianqin showed up at the amusement park anyway, claiming he was worried Wuyan wouldn’t properly look after the child. The three of them went on the Ferris wheel together. On the Ferris wheel, Wuyan told Xiaowei that her idol was a very talented songwriter.

Then she looked across at Su Nianqin, charmed by his looks, and instinctively leaned in to kiss him. Before she got halfway, Su Nianqin stopped her, saying such things were usually initiated by the man. Wuyan thought he couldn’t see, but to her surprise, he wasn’t completely blind—he could see anything moving within three feet. Back home, Su Nianqin was in a great mood. He played a cheerful piano piece but hit the wrong notes.

When Yu Xiaolu pointed it out, he insisted that music wasn’t about right or wrong, but about expressing emotions. Yu Xiaolu said maybe he should see a doctor—his recent behavior was way too abnormal. The teacher Su Nianqin was filling in for would return a week early from maternity leave. Teacher Li thanked him for his help these past few weeks. Meanwhile, Wuyan and Xu Qian were both criticized by their boss for inappropriate material choices during a news interview.

Episode 7 Recap

Su Nianqin brought up a question Sang Wuyan hadn’t answered before, so he asked her if she liked him. After getting an affirmative response, he said there was nothing about him worth liking and then turned and left. Back home, Wuyan couldn’t understand Su Nianqin’s unpredictable personality. Su Nianqin’s temporary teaching job at the special school was coming to an end. After the last class, all the children stood up to thank Teacher Su for his teaching.

Su Nianqin said it was his honor to be their teacher. Xiao Wei chased after him to give him a piece of candy as a farewell gift, saying that Teacher Sang lied when she said Teacher Su didn’t like sweets—no kid would dislike candy. Su Nianqin accepted the candy. Late at night, Wuyan and Xu Qian were working overtime at the radio station. After staying late, they got trapped in the elevator due to a power outage.

While waiting for repairs, they had a heart-to-heart. Wuyan admitted that the falling out between her, Wei Hao, and Xu Qian was partly her fault, but she also blamed the other two for deliberately keeping their feelings from her, which was also part of the problem. Xu Qian said she and Wei Hao had never been in a romantic relationship.

Leaving the band wasn’t just because of Wuyan—it was also because of her mother, who, after being dumped by a man, came back asking her for money. With a mother like that, she had many worries and couldn’t handle other things. After finishing her schoolwork and returning to her internship, Wuyan realized Su Nianqin had already finished teaching and didn’t answer her calls. He even missed Xiao Wei’s official adoption day.

Xiao Lu called Su Nianqin but couldn’t reach him, so she went to find him in person. She suggested he should go home. After learning he had deliberately turned off his phone to avoid Wuyan’s calls, she got very angry at his bad temper and cold attitude.

She said she was taking a break and, before leaving, told Su Nianqin that ignoring Wuyan was actually the right thing to do—someone with his bad temper would only ruin a good girl like her. Su Nianqin went outside and recalled the moment he and Wuyan hid from the rain. He picked a leaf from a privet tree. Xiao Lu, seeing how much he clearly missed Wuyan, asked why he didn’t go after her.

Su Nianqin said that although Xiao Lu’s earlier words were out of anger, they made sense. The best thing he could do was to stay away from Wuyan. Xu Qian was working part-time at a bar when she ran into a very drunk Wuyan. Wuyan immediately messaged all their mutual friends, and the band members came to the bar.

Xu Qian sang a song for the heartbroken Wuyan, who, listening to the music, remembered her few yet meaningful memories with Su Nianqin and felt even sadder. Wuyan went to visit Xiao Wei, who told her that Teacher Su had just come by the day before. Realizing that Su Nianqin was avoiding her on purpose made her feel down.

Xu Qian decided to leave the radio station—it was no longer mainstream, and even a single show couldn’t compare to a public account’s audience. She needed to think about her future. Knowing that Su Nianqin had a habit of listening to the radio, Wuyan gave it one last try and submitted a letter to the station, saying everything she wanted to say to him. When the host read her letter on air, Su Nianqin happened to be listening.

Exhausted from her thesis and radio work, Wuyan fell ill. In her half-conscious state, she called Su Nianqin. This time, he finally answered and, upon learning her condition, rushed to her home.

Episode 8 Recap

Su Nianqin arrived at Wuyan’s house just in time. Seeing her feverish and lethargic, he decided to take her to the hospital. While carrying her downstairs, he missed a step because of poor visibility and ended up injuring his arm and back while protecting Wuyan. The doctor diagnosed her with measles, but it wasn’t serious—she would recover after a few days of rest. Su Nianqin took her back to his place to care for her.

That night, Wuyan woke up and saw Su Nianqin in the living room reading a biography in Braille. Xu Qian helped Wei Hao wipe down the music equipment that had gotten wet from the rain. She told him she had quit the radio station and had a bunch of interviews lined up.

She said Wuyan didn’t understand her because Wuyan had the luxury of being pure, while she had to deal with the harsh realities of life and couldn’t afford that same purity. Wei Hao said he would help her make a lot of money. Wuyan asked Su Nianqin for some water. He opened the fridge but stopped midway, then used an electric kettle to boil water, believing warm water would be healthier.

Holding the boiled water her idol had specially made for her, Wuyan was very happy and asked if he watched movies. Then she realized her mistake—how could someone with a visual impairment watch movies? Su Nianqin replied that he didn’t watch movies. To him, touch was more direct than sight. Wuyan asked if he had heard her broadcast submission. When he didn’t respond right away, she touched his chest and, feeling his heartbeat, said he actually had a heart.

Su Nianqin was slightly surprised and moved by the gesture. Wuyan was still exhausted from her illness and soon fell asleep on the living room couch. Su Nianqin tried multiple times to cover her with a blanket, but she kept kicking it off. Helplessly, he put a cooling patch on her forehead, then picked her up and carried her to the bedroom. The next morning, Su Nianqin got up early to make breakfast.

While frying eggs, he accidentally got burned by splattering oil and used a piece of aloe to treat the burn. When he heard Wuyan coughing as she woke up, he quickly hid the aloe. After getting up, Wuyan saw the very burnt fried eggs and questioned whether the breakfast was edible. Xu Qian interviewed at a finance company. Although she had a good GPA and came from a good school, they rejected her because she wasn’t from a related major.

After Wei Hao and others moved their equipment out of the leaky rehearsal room, Xu Qian showed up and said that if they didn’t mind, she’d like to return to the band. After getting a call from Wei Hao and learning the rehearsal room had flooded, Wuyan called Sister Xi to ask for help finding a new space. Sister Xi and her junior Yu Xiaolu met with the band.

Xiaolu asked if they had any plans to go professional, but Wei Hao and the others didn’t want commercial interests to restrict their creativity and said they had no such plans for now. After listening to one of the band’s rehearsals, Xiaolu praised them highly and recorded a snippet to share with some friends in the music business. Wuyan helped Su Nianqin apply medicine to his burn, and he apologized for leaving without saying goodbye. Su Nianqin had a nightmare.

Wuyan turned on the light in time and kissed him, and the two officially became a couple. The next morning, Xiaolu came to visit and accidentally witnessed the lovey-dovey couple, feeling like a single person getting publicly tortured. Wuyan went home to pack up and prepare to stay at Su Nianqin’s place for a few days. She ran into Xu Qian, and they talked about relationships.

Xu Qian said she couldn’t choose her parents and, with a troubled family, she had to shoulder the responsibility. She didn’t want Wei Hao to go through it with her—she didn’t want to drag him down.

Episode 9 Recap

Wuyan planned to stay at Su Nianqin’s for a while. Coincidentally, Xu Qian was preparing to rent a place, so Wuyan invited her to temporarily stay at her home. Wuyan made a glass of lemon juice for Su Nianqin. When he received an audio clip of a band rehearsal from Xiao Lu, he immediately recognized it as Wei Hao’s band. Sister Xi had dinner with Xiao Lu, who said that after hearing the audio, Su Nianqin had complimented it.

Sister Xi was planning to start a new show focusing on young independent musicians and considered using Wei Hao’s band as the featured group. Xiao Lu excitedly told her that Su Nianqin was dating someone, but Sister Xi didn’t look gossipy—instead, she looked a little nervous. When she found out it was Wuyan, she was shocked and seemed troubled. Xiao Lu asked her to keep it secret, and Sister Xi promised she would.

Wuyan took Su Nianqin to watch a horror movie. They were the only two in the early screening. Although she was very scared, she still whispered the plot to help him follow. After the movie, they waited for the subway together but were separated in the rush hour crowd—one got on the train, the other didn’t. With the crowd so packed, Wuyan couldn’t get off and realized both their phones were in her bag.

After getting off at the next stop, she quickly boarded a train in the opposite direction and returned, only to find Su Nianqin still waiting where they had separated. Su Nianqin told her not to worry—no matter where they got separated, he would always wait for her at the original spot. Xiao Lu came to visit and saw that after falling in love, Su Nianqin had become much chattier. She was genuinely happy for him.

Nie Xi transferred Wuyan back to her team. Wuyan had been hoping for this and thought Sister Xi sincerely needed her help, so she cheerfully packed up and returned. However, Sister Xi’s attitude had drastically changed—she coldly dumped a pile of tasks on her. Sister Xi expressed strong dissatisfaction with Wuyan’s work results. Her coworkers didn’t see anything wrong and thought maybe Sister Xi just wanted to challenge her.

Su Nianqin happened to pass by the radio station and stopped by to see Wuyan. The two hugged, and Sister Xi witnessed the scene, her expression changing instantly. Xiao Lu, sitting in a car, also saw everything. Wuyan talked with Wei Hao and Xu Qian about recent work and couldn’t understand why Sister Xi’s attitude had changed so drastically. Wei Hao thought she must have offended someone by being too brash.

Xu Qian said as an intern, she had no real power to threaten anyone. During winter break, Wuyan and Su Nianqin briefly parted ways to return home for the New Year. Wuyan almost got caught by her mom while hiding her relationship. Wei Hao visited Xu Qian’s grandmother and ran into her mother.

Later, Xu Qian told him privately that no matter if her mother contacted him or asked for money, he should ignore her—doing nothing would be the best help. After the break, Wuyan prepared for a public class and asked Su Nianqin what kind of topics kids usually liked. Su Nianqin said he had only stayed in the welfare center until age six and didn’t remember much about what he liked back then.

Wuyan wanted to ask more about his past, but he refused. The public class was a success. Wuyan made sure to take pictures with Su Nianqin, but in the middle of it, her mom called. She had found a job as a school counselor back home and was pressuring Wuyan to take it. Her mom thought Wuyan had been acting suspicious lately.

Episode 10 Recap

Wuyan's mom made several urgent phone calls pressuring her daughter to return to their hometown to teach. Upon realizing that Wuyan was firmly refusing, she changed tactics and started calling Cheng Yin for updates. Cheng Yin was also annoyed and urged Wuyan to tell her family about the relationship as soon as possible. After yet another call from her mother, Wuyan finally revealed she was in a relationship. Her mother immediately asked several questions about the man.

When she found out he had a visual impairment, grew up in an orphanage, and had an unknown family background, she booked a flight without hesitation, saying she would stay for a few days. When Wuyan’s mom arrived at her rental apartment, she began packing Wuyan’s belongings, demanding that she return home with her. Wuyan had originally hoped her mother could meet Su Nianqin, but her mother had no such intention.

She told Wuyan that both she and her father disapproved of the relationship, believing Wuyan was still too young and had never experienced real hardships in life. She thought Wuyan was simply blinded by love, and insisted that love shouldn't be impulsive—it should be based on security and responsibility. Wuyan disagreed with her mother, and the two got into a conflict. Yu Xiaolu picked up a woman from the airport. They drove together to Su Nianqin’s home.

Xiaolu opened the door while the woman sat in the car, gazing at Nianqin from afar. After learning that Wuyan might bring her mother to meet him, Xiaolu went out of her way to buy groceries and cooked a big meal. However, they waited until 9 p. m. , and no one came. The next day, after sending off her angry mom, Wuyan went to Su Nianqin’s house. She happened to overhear him and Xiaolu arguing about his father.

Xiaolu left in a huff and told Wuyan before leaving that the previous day had been Su Nianqin’s birthday. To make up for the missed birthday, Wuyan took him to a noodle shop and bought him a bowl of longevity noodles. The woman who had looked at Su Nianqin from the car returned home and scolded Su’s father for getting mad at Su Nianqin when he was just a child, which led to him being unwilling to come home now.

After returning home, Wuyan’s mother told her father everything. Her father got so worked up that he had a brain hemorrhage. He was rushed to the hospital and admitted to the ICU. Her mother did not tell Wuyan about any of this. Su Nianqin had a nightmare and began playing the piano again.

He told Wuyan that it was his mother who had made him start practicing piano from a young age, but she passed away on one of his childhood birthdays. He believed his mother’s life had been full of suffering from the moment she gave birth to a child with an eye condition. Wuyan officially moved in with Su Nianqin under the pretense of taking care of him.

But she didn’t even know how to cook and ended up burning her hand while trying. Su Nianqin gently broke off a piece of aloe to help soothe her burn. Wuyan wanted to buy a suitable watch for Su Nianqin. While picking it out, she happened to be spotted by Nie Xi, who suddenly became unusually friendly and promised to keep her secret.

After Su Nianqin put on the watch Wuyan picked out, she told him that his time had started anew, and he should live well, take good care of himself, and work on his temper—only then could they be together forever. Su Nianqin commented that her words were embarrassingly cheesy. Wuyan discovered a photo in Su Nianqin’s home that looked like a family portrait. But he had no idea about it. Upon hearing Wuyan describe it, he became furious.

It turned out the photo was taken after his father remarried, and he deeply disliked everyone in the photo except for Xiaolu. Xiaolu had hidden the truth, telling him it was just a decorative picture and placed it openly in the house.

Episode 11 Recap

Su Nianqin and Yu Xiaolu had a fierce argument about the family photo. It was the first time Wuyan had seen them so angry, and she was shocked. At work, while chatting with her colleagues, she absentmindedly ate some beef, which triggered her allergy. That night, she broke out in rashes and developed a fever. Su Nianqin rushed her to the hospital.

After getting a diagnosis and medication, Wuyan tried to hold Su Nianqin’s hand and act cute, but he rejected her. He couldn’t believe a grown woman could still accidentally eat something she’s allergic to, so he told her she either had to come home for lunch every day or bring her own meals to work. Wuyan accidentally stained Su Nianqin’s clothes and wanted to buy him a replacement. But while shopping, she noticed all his clothes were extremely expensive.

Cheng Yin then pointed out that although Su Nianqin wasn’t short on money, composing alone shouldn't earn him enough to afford such a big house and pricey clothes. Back home, she saw Xiaolu preparing meals for her workdays and took the chance to ask some questions. She learned that Su Nianqin’s father was alive and that Xiaolu's sister, Yu Weilan, was actually Su Nianqin’s stepmother. Wuyan was stunned by this explosive revelation.

Su Nianqin received a call from Yu Weilan but didn’t answer. The call triggered memories of vague past interactions between them. Su Nianqin’s father was hospitalized with liver cancer. Xiaolu, on her sister’s behalf, went to invite Su Nianqin to visit him. But Su Nianqin coldly refused, saying he wouldn’t regret not seeing his father one last time—he had been living with regret since the day he was born.

After failing to persuade him, Xiaolu thought of Wuyan, hoping she could help. But Wuyan pointed out that none of Su Nianqin’s family had ever tried to understand things from his perspective. They had all worked hard to present a façade of a happy family but never made him feel truly connected. Spiritually, Su Nianqin had been abandoned in an orphanage as a child and had never moved on.

Though she could understand Xiaolu’s position, Wuyan insisted on siding with her beloved. If reconciliation wasn’t possible, then everyone should just live their own lives. In a moment of panic, Xiaolu accidentally blurted out that the Su family of Shishan couldn't go on without an heir. After returning home, Cheng Yin and Wuyan looked up the Su family of Shishan and discovered they were an “unremarkable” wealthy family that owned many luxury brands.

Wuyan had thought Su Nianqin was just a boy from an orphanage, only to find out he was the son of a prominent family. Realizing he’d never told her about his background, she began to wonder if he saw her as a gold digger and fell into a gloomy confusion. Wuyan was angry that Su Nianqin had hidden his background and ignored his calls all day due to work.

When Xiaolu returned, she apologized to Su Nianqin for accidentally revealing his identity to Wuyan. When Wuyan returned to Su Nianqin’s home, the two argued over the matter. Su Nianqin said he was willing to take her to meet his father, but Wuyan thought he was too domineering and impulsive. She left alone. Upset, Su Nianqin began playing the piano frantically, disturbing the neighbors so much that the property management called. Xiaolu rushed over just in time.

Realizing Wuyan hadn’t taken her phone, Su Nianqin had Xiaolu drive and followed her in secret all the way back to the rental where Wuyan lived with Cheng Yin. The next day, Wuyan’s mother called, and Su Nianqin answered. That’s how he found out her parents didn’t approve of their relationship.

Episode 12 Recap

Yijin accepted an invitation to record a program at the radio station where Wuyan worked. A crowd of fangirls welcomed him downstairs. Wuyan was asked by her boss to serve water to Teacher Yijin. Seeing Su Nianqin surrounded by colleagues asking for his autograph made Wuyan jealous. She deliberately flirted with a male colleague in front of him, and Su Nianqin got jealous too. After the radio recording, the young couple chatted outside the building.

They started off arguing about his background and the recording, but the quarrel quickly turned into playful bickering. From a distance, Nie Xi and Xiaolu watched. Nie Xi realized Su Nianqin had agreed to come to the station just to see Wuyan, and Xiaolu remarked that it seemed like Su Nianqin had hit puberty. Both were genuinely happy for him.

Xu Qian was asked by her boss to give a speech on behalf of her group at an upcoming proposal meeting—a great opportunity to shine. She accepted and expressed her thanks. During lunch, she overheard coworkers discussing the limited number of full-time slots for interns and that management might be favoring her. Wei Hao’s band, with Xiaolu’s help, was in talks with a major company that wanted to sign them and invited them for an interview.

As the lead singer, Xu Qian said the interview clashed with her company’s proposal meeting, so she couldn’t attend. She explained that hobbies and careers are two different things—dreams can’t feed you. Su Nianqin had the previously broken watch repaired and gave it to Wuyan. Wuyan saw a missed call from her mother. Su Nianqin told her that her mom only asked about her graduation and didn’t mention being unhappy with him.

Wuyan’s last class at the special education school ended. After a field trip with the kids the next day, she would officially leave. Su Nianqin picked her up from work, and the two strolled home together in the pleasant spring weather. Wei Hao’s band interview began, but Xu Qian didn’t show up. Despite his bandmates’ persuasion, Wei Hao insisted on waiting for her and ended up missing the opportunity. His friends were deeply disappointed by his stubbornness.

On the field trip, Wuyan sat on a bench with Su Nianqin and Xiaowei, enjoying the scenery and the sunshine. But she felt a little melancholic knowing that only she could see the beauty. After the trip, she realized the MP3 she’d made for Su Nianqin was missing. She searched everywhere on the way back but couldn’t find it. With guidance from a security guard, she decisively searched the trash and finally found it.

Seeing Wuyan foolishly digging through trash just to retrieve a recording for him deeply moved Su Nianqin. He used his own clothes to wipe her hands. Back home, after listening to the recording, Wuyan used it as a chance to confess again. Su Nianqin said nothing and gently kissed her eyes. When Wuyan learned that Xu Qian had missed the interview, she wasn’t surprised but considered asking Xiaolu to help reschedule.

Meanwhile, Wei Hao thought that since they’d lost their lead singer, they should just disband. His friends urged him to find a new vocalist, but he wouldn’t budge. Xu Qian’s mother was preparing to pursue another relationship without any attachments. Before leaving, she cooked a meal she thought Xu Qian liked—but in fact, she didn’t.

When Xu Qian expressed her dislike, she stared at her mother, who had no sense of responsibility, and asked why someone like her would give birth to a child or become a mother at all.

Episode 13 Recap

Sang Wuyan and a few bandmates discussed whether they should try to persuade Xu Qian to come back. The majority agreed, so they waited together outside Xu Qian's office building. When Xu Qian came down with a few colleagues, they saw several young people dressed in rock attire lined up outside and commented that society's delinquents had become too bold. Hearing these unfriendly remarks, Xu Qian directly told them that those were her friends.

At Wei Hao’s earnest invitation, Xu Qian agreed to perform with them at the graduation ceremony. Su Nianqin chatted with Xiaowei about marriage. He said he had always thought someone like him would end up alone, but ever since he met Wuyan, he had started to look forward to the idea of getting married. At Wuyan’s graduation ceremony, Su Nianqin showed up in formal attire holding a bouquet. Cheng Yin helped take pictures of the two.

Wuyan’s mother called to ask about the ceremony. Wuyan wanted to speak with her father, but her mother brushed her off, saying he was on a business trip. At the ceremony, Wei Hao and Xu Qian’s performance was a big hit. Their fans cheered wildly. After the performance, amid the crowd's teasing, Wei Hao put his arm around Xu Qian’s shoulder and confessed to her. Xu Qian said yes.

Wuyan and Su Nianqin watched the whole thing from the audience, and she enthusiastically explained everything to him. Su Nianqin went to the hospital for an eye checkup. The doctor said he had already missed the best window for treatment. The only likely way to restore his vision now was through a corneal transplant. While chatting with Wei Hao and Xu Qian, Wuyan found out that their previous business collaboration had fallen through.

Thinking of Sister Xi’s new indie musician show, she realized the band would be a perfect fit and invited them to participate. The next day at work, she told Sister Xi about it. Because Sister Xi had interacted with Wei Hao and the others before, she agreed and asked Wuyan to plan an episode. One night, Wuyan was reading a horror novel and telling it to Su Nianqin. Midway through, the power suddenly went out, giving her a fright.

Since Su Nianqin couldn’t see light or dark, he tried to distract her by talking. Su Nianqin’s father was preparing for a liver transplant, but no suitable donor could be found. As a precaution, he signed a cornea donation consent form, planning to donate his corneas to his son after his death. Xiaolu told Su Nianqin, and he was shocked. After Wuyan got home from work, Su Nianqin told her about his father’s plan to donate his corneas.

He said his family had been poor, and he was born with an eye condition. After his mother sent him to a welfare institution, the family gradually became successful. Later, his father brought him back, but after his mother’s death, he resented his father. He refused treatment for his eyes—not wanting to be a presentable son for a successful businessman, and wanting his disability to constantly remind his father of his guilt.

Though he had long resented his father, he was now in turmoil knowing his father wanted to donate his corneas. He didn’t understand what it was all for. Wuyan advised him that if he couldn’t figure it out, he should try to let go and forgive. Su Nianqin decided to bring Wuyan to visit his father the next day. Yu Weilan came to Su Nianqin’s home. For the first time, he let her in.

He still couldn't accept his stepmother, believing she married his father for money. Despite Su Nianqin’s unfriendly words, Yu Weilan didn’t get angry and just advised him to get the corneal surgery. Wuyan ran into her father's friend at a restaurant and learned that her father had been hospitalized for a cerebral hemorrhage. Extremely worried, she rushed back to pack and return home. At the door, she ran into Yu Weilan, who was just leaving. Wuyan quickly packed her things without explaining, so Su Nianqin mistakenly thought Wuyan’s parents disapproved of him, leading to a conflict.

Episode 14 Recap

Wuyan went back to her hometown hospital to see her father. After brain surgery, he couldn’t speak clearly. Seeing him in that state, Wuyan felt heartbroken. Her father asked about her boyfriend, not about his illness or family matters. He only asked if she truly loved him. If she did, then he would support all her decisions. Her mother was somewhat comforted to see her come back but still kept a stern face.

Wuyan wanted her mother to rest and let her care for her father, but she didn't really know how to do it. The two had a small argument outside the hospital room. After Xiaolu got the full story, she told Su Nianqin that Wuyan’s father really was sick and wasn’t faking it to trick his daughter into coming home. She criticized Su Nianqin for being too socially unaware.

Su Nianqin admitted he had once received a call from Wuyan’s mother and learned that Wuyan had fallen out with her family because they disapproved of their relationship. After finding out, he selfishly pretended not to know and even proposed to Wuyan. After Wei Hao found out about Wuyan’s father, he made a special trip home to visit. Wuyan’s mother liked him very much and lamented that her daughter didn’t cherish such a good man.

She said if it weren’t for Wuyan’s foolishness, Wei Hao might have already been her son-in-law. Even though Wuyan said Su Nianqin was a good man and loved her, now that her father was gravely ill, Su hadn’t shown up. Wuyan still made excuses for him, saying his poor eyesight made travel difficult. Su Nianqin’s father was critically ill. Xiaolu dragged him to the hospital, but by the time he arrived, the doctors were already trying to save him.

Although he had deep issues with his father, he refused to eat, drink, or speak while waiting and eventually collapsed. During some free time, Wuyan called Su Nianqin, but his phone had been left at home during the rush to the hospital, so no one answered. Finally, Xiaolu called her to say Su Nianqin had fainted. Wuyan was torn but, after getting her parents' permission, rushed back to his city. After receiving IV fluids, Su Nianqin slowly recovered.

Yu Weilan came to visit him. When he woke up, he told her he had forgiven her and wouldn’t dwell on the past. She advised him to apologize to Wuyan. However, Su Nianqin refused. Although it was wrong of him to say Wuyan’s parents had faked illness to deceive her, he believed that in their eyes, he was just a burden. If they didn’t like him, there was nothing left to say.

Wuyan, just arriving outside the hospital room, heard everything. Her parents didn’t like him, but they never called him a burden in front of her. Her father was sick, and she had rushed back and forth just to see him, only to hear sarcasm. Su Nianqin, using his physical disability and insecurity, stood on the moral high ground and hurt those around him without mercy.

She had thought her love could help her tolerate his bad temper and neurosis, but now she realized that wasn't true. Storming out of the hospital, Wuyan got a call from her mother apologizing for her earlier harsh words to Su Nianqin and asking Wuyan to apologize on her behalf. Wuyan, still angry, said her mother had done nothing wrong. Woken up by Wuyan’s harsh words, Su Nianqin chased after her but she was already gone.

Episode 15 Recap

Su Nianqin’s father was formally prepared for the liver transplant. Before being wheeled into surgery, Su Nianqin held his father’s hand tightly for the first time and bowed to the chief surgeon, asking them to do their best to save his father. Late at night, Wuyan’s mother found her husband cold to the touch and called the doctor in a panic.

She was terrified and tried calling Wuyan, who was on the rooftop of her rented apartment, drinking beer and crying as she recalled memories of Su Nianqin, feeling incredibly foolish. When the phone rang, she didn’t even look at it and tossed it aside before passing out drunk. Unable to reach her daughter and unable to find her or her husband, Wuyan’s mother was deeply shaken. Thankfully, Wei Hao’s parents arrived in time to support her.

Wei Hao’s father quickly called his son, urging him to contact Wuyan. Su Nianqin’s father’s liver transplant was a success. After everything was settled, Su asked Xiaolu to take him to Wuyan’s apartment. But when they got there, only Cheng Yin was home, and she didn’t know where Wuyan was. No one could reach her. The next morning, Wuyan woke up with a hangover and saw dozens of missed calls.

She quickly called her mom back, but it was Wei Hao’s father who answered and told her her father had passed away. She grabbed her backpack and rushed downstairs, running into Su Nianqin who had waited all night to apologize. Wuyan told him that no matter how regretful someone may feel, there’s no medicine for remorse—she never wanted to see him again. Then she got into a cab back to her hometown.

When she got home, all she saw was her father’s portrait. Her mother, emotionally overwhelmed, couldn’t face her. Staring at her father’s photo, Wuyan knelt and tearfully apologized, admitting she had been wrong, childish, and willful—but it was already too late. Having lost Wuyan, Su Nianqin grew anxious and distressed. In desperation, he listened to the MP3 recordings Wuyan had made for him. Wei Hao returned home to help Wuyan with her father’s funeral.

After everything was settled, Wuyan contacted Sister Xi to say she wanted to return and host the band special she had planned. Her father had been there during the planning, and she wanted to air it in his memory. Sister Xi agreed. As the host, Wuyan interviewed Wei Hao’s Taoyzi Band. With Sister Xi’s support, Wuyan—though still emotionally affected—successfully launched the program. Though the initial ratings were poor, by the end it became the most-listened-to show in that time slot.

It ended with a heartfelt message from Wuyan to her father and was a major success. Su Nianqin listened to the entire broadcast, felt ashamed of what he had said and done, and wept in the hospital hallway. The premiere of Wuyan’s new show was a hit. The station wanted her to be the permanent host, but after all she had been through, she felt she needed to take on her responsibilities as a daughter.

She resigned and planned to find a job in her hometown. After learning her true reasons, Sister Xi expressed her support. Wuyan had a farewell dinner with Wei Hao and her old friends. Wei Hao, after drinking, criticized her for missing Uncle Sang’s final moments because of Su Nianqin. Though the words were harsh, they were true. Wuyan regretted it deeply. On the way home, Cheng Yin—who had claustrophobia—took the elevator, which happened to stop due to a power outage. Both she and Wuyan were injured. After getting their wounds treated, Wuyan packed her things and prepared to return home for good.

Episode 16 Recap

Early in the morning, Sang Wuyan finished packing her luggage and was about to head to the airport when she ran into Yu Xiaolu, who had come specifically to find her. Yu Xiaolu told her everything about Su Nianqin’s past regrets and misunderstandings, hoping that clarifying things would ease the conflict between them. However, Wuyan felt utterly hopeless and couldn’t accept any explanation.

She only hoped that Su Nianqin would find a girl with a better temperament than hers in the future. Then she got into the car and left without looking back. After work, Xu Qian came home to find Wei Hao sitting alone, preoccupied. Wei Hao said that Uncle Sang’s passing had hit him hard—he was the kindest person he’d ever met. Now that everyone had just graduated, it felt like they had already experienced so much.

Their mindsets were no longer anything like those of students. Xu Qian said that everyone had to grow up and face reality. The couple ended up arguing again. One of them, coming from a modest background, faced life with determination; the other, raised in a complete family, still lived in an idealistic world and refused to confront real life. Su Nianqin went back to the hospital for an eye checkup, formally preparing for a corneal transplant.

Although the doctor was cautious due to the low success rate and uncertain recovery, Su Nianqin remembered how Wuyan once told him she wanted to share beautiful scenery with him. Having once used his blindness to shield himself from the world, Su Nianqin now truly wanted to see it. After some thought, Wei Hao found a regular job through a connection.

The band brothers had a farewell dinner, and after Wei Hao got drunk, a few of them told Xu Qian that the once freedom-loving Wei Hao was now willing to choose stability—all for her. If there ever came a day when she felt Wei Hao couldn’t keep up, they asked her to break it to him gently and not break his heart.

Back home, a sobered Wei Hao proposed to Xu Qian and said he wanted to take her back to his hometown. Xu Qian said she didn’t plan to get married and wouldn’t return to that hometown. They started arguing again. The next day, Wei Hao packed up and returned to his hometown alone. Eating breakfast alone in her room, Xu Qian recalled the happy times they once shared and felt deeply sentimental.

After Su Nianqin’s surgery, he chatted with his father in the hospital room and said he was willing to return home to take over the family business. Everyone was happy with his decision. Three days later, the bandages came off, and Su Nianqin finally saw sunlight and landscapes he had never seen before.

He went to the bench in the park where their school once held an autumn outing, admiring the beautiful scenery—though the person he once shared it with was no longer there. Wuyan’s mother suffered a mental breakdown due to her husband’s sudden death. Wuyan and Wei Hao noticed something was wrong. Wei Hao suggested going to the hospital, but Wuyan felt her mother was just struggling temporarily and would get better with time.

Wei Hao helped Wuyan find a local nighttime radio hosting job. She learned from colleagues that someone had once written a song titled Turns Out I Really Loved You before going silent. Despite occasional sadness, that person kept all the pain inside. Meanwhile, Su Nianqin started from scratch learning business and managing the family industry, but ever since he found out about Wuyan’s radio show, he had been listening to her program.

The two people who had separated due to a misunderstanding were growing in their own timelines. Three years later, Wuyan had become a radio host, still responsible for a show called Island Playlist. After three years of struggling in the big city, Xu Qian also started thinking about returning to her roots.

Episode 17 Recap

Su Nianqin had dinner with Xiaowei, who missed Teacher Sang very much. Su Nianqin gave her a piece of candy, saying that Teacher Sang was busy and couldn’t come to see her for now. Rumors spread in Xu Qian’s company that she was dating her boss. A close colleague informed her and reminded her that the company didn’t support office romance, suggesting she be cautious for the sake of her future. Xu Qian said she wasn’t dating her boss.

While working overtime that night, she saw the dried peaches Wei Hao had brought when visiting her and reminisced about their past. Xu Qian quit her job and went back to her hometown to find Wei Hao. When Wei Hao received the call and rushed downstairs, he could hardly believe she had actually quit and returned.

Xu Qian said she hadn’t understood what she truly wanted before, but now she did, and she hoped Wei Hao wouldn’t blame her past coldness. Wei Hao planned to propose to Xu Qian and told Wuyan in advance to help. When Wuyan was visiting Xu Qian’s grandmother, she accidentally let the secret slip. After seriously confirming with Wei Hao that he indeed wanted to marry, Xu Qian agreed.

Wei Hao took her to meet his parents, and Xu Qian said marriage involved two families, so she needed to explain her family situation to his parents. But Wei Hao had already told them everything. His parents not only didn’t mind but also felt deeply sympathetic toward her. While trying on wedding dresses, Xu Qian chatted with Wuyan about happiness. She said she had found her own happiness and hoped Wuyan would find hers too.

Xu Qian’s mother returned to her hometown specifically to attend the wedding. Xu Qian, who had never seen her mother take any real responsibility, couldn’t face her. She just left an invitation and told her to do whatever she wanted. After attending Xu Qian’s wedding, Wuyan’s mother focused entirely on her daughter’s marriage, persistently setting her up on blind dates. Though Wuyan was unwilling, she had no choice but to go along.

Su Nianqin came to the city where Wuyan lived to handle his company’s acquisition of Toro. By chance, he ran into Wuyan at the hotel lobby, where she was on a blind date. Since he had never seen her face, he didn’t recognize her and walked past. Only when her date called her name did he realize the girl was Sang Wuyan. Wuyan ended the date immediately upon seeing Su Nianqin.

As she was leaving, Su Nianqin caught up with her and gave her a business card, explaining that he wasn’t here to find someone—just to close a business deal. Seeing Su Nianqin, who had regained his sight and become a successful businessman, Wuyan threw the card into the trash in front of him, but after he left, she secretly went back to retrieve it. Seeing Wuyan’s cold expression, Su Nianqin felt very down.

That night, he drank alone, recalling memories of the two of them, and fell asleep. The next day, his secretary heard him calling Wuyan’s name in his sleep while cleaning the room. Wuyan launched a rehabilitation project for autistic children. This time, she was helping a boy named Xiaojie, who had congenital autism. Miss Peng, Toro’s former owner, was interested in Su Nianqin and planned to invite him to dinner. On the way, he suddenly realized he had lost his MP3 player, possibly at the hotel. Wanting to retrieve it, he canceled the dinner and rushed back.

Episode 18 Recap

Su Nianqin returned to the hotel to find his MP3. While he waited, the hotel manager didn’t understand why the MP3 was so important. His secretary said if they didn’t find it today, both of them might be in trouble. In the end, a hotel cleaner found it. Wei Hao now worked at Toro. After Su Nianqin acquired the company, he visited the employee area, where Wei Hao saw this once-familiar man who was now a big boss.

While riding in the car, Su Nianqin saw Wuyan by the roadside, listening to music and waiting for a taxi. He told the driver to follow her until she went into a building and turned on the lights. Wuyan took Xiaojie to eat at KFC and happened to run into her previous blind date, Wu Yu. Wu Yu offered to drive them, and the three had KFC together.

During the meal, Wu Yu mentioned the watch on Wuyan’s wrist was expensive, unavailable domestically, and fully handcrafted. Wuyan said she had bought it for a few hundred yuan on Taobao—a knockoff. Outside the company building, Wei Hao greeted Su Nianqin and told him that Wuyan hadn’t had an easy time these past few years. Of course, Su Nianqin knew—he had been keeping track of her all along.

Su Nianqin also went to KFC and reminisced about the first time they had eaten there, which felt just like yesterday, making him very happy. After realizing how expensive the watch was, Wuyan felt awkward wearing it. Xu Qian planned to undergo laser surgery for her nearsightedness. Before the procedure, she made a bet with Wuyan: if she came out fine, Wuyan had to go find Su Nianqin and talk things through.

If they truly wanted to move on, nothing would be better than a proper conversation. Though she knew she would definitely lose, Wuyan still agreed. Back home, Wuyan suddenly wanted to experience what it was like to live as a blind person. She put on an eye mask, which Cheng Yin found hard to understand. Unable to move easily and eventually bumping her head, Wuyan gave up.

Reflecting on herself, Wuyan realized her past immature and willful behavior must have brought great trouble to Su Nianqin when he was having eye problems. No matter how much she said, she still couldn’t let go of her feelings for him. Cheng Yin, who believed Su Nianqin looked proud but was deeply insecure, also encouraged her to talk to him. Wuyan went to the hotel to find Su Nianqin but fell asleep on the couch while waiting.

When Su Nianqin returned from the meeting and saw the girl he had longed for sleeping right there, his emotions were mixed. He carried her to the bed, crouched beside her to examine her features, then kissed her. But Wuyan, sleeping deeply, knew nothing. When she woke up, Su Nianqin had already left for a company dinner. She took the watch on the sink with her and left behind his old watch.

Su Nianqin had planned to bring her dinner but found her gone—and the watch he had worn for three years gone too. Instead, the old watch he had given her long ago had been returned. Realizing she came only to swap watches, he was furious. Su Nianqin called Wuyan, and they went to a noisy small restaurant. Wuyan said that although it was hard to go back to being friends after breaking up, she didn’t want things to become tense. She apologized for the hurtful things she said during their breakup. Su Nianqin accepted the apology immediately.

Episode 19 Recap

After Sang Wuyan returned home, she discovered that the previously dark surroundings of her neighborhood had suddenly been adorned with many small lights. Since she had always been afraid of the dark, she no longer felt terrified returning home at night. Wuyan returned to her part-time job at the radio station and found that Sister Xi had surprisingly come to the local station as well.

During their conversation, Sister Xi apologized for having once made things difficult for Wuyan at the station. She admitted that she had once liked Su Nianqin too, but when she realized he was dating Wuyan, she treated Wuyan badly out of jealousy. Later, however, she understood that even if Wuyan wasn’t around, Su Nianqin’s eyes would never land on her, so she gave up that unrequited affection.

Su Nianqin planned to reconcile with Wuyan, so he deliberately came to pick her up after work, intending to take her to dinner. However, before he could even get out of the car, he saw Wuyan getting into Wu Yu’s car. Furious and jealous, he followed them into a small restaurant. Wu Yu's friend had brought some children’s books from Japan, which he thought would be suitable for little Jie, who has autism.

So he invited Wuyan to dinner to hand over the books. Su Nianqin called Wuyan out of the restaurant and told her that unless he died, she could forget about being with any other man. When he realized she had been drinking, he grew even angrier. He kissed her forcefully, apologized, and confessed everything he’d gone through emotionally over the years.

Su Nianqin also said that once he fell for someone, he found it very hard to let go and that he was scared she had fallen for someone else. After returning home, Wuyan called Wu Yu and said they weren’t suited for a romantic relationship. Wu Yu said they could still be friends. At the research center, little Jie was agitated and happened to run into Su Nianqin, who had come looking for Wuyan.

Su Nianqin sat at the piano in the classroom and began to play. Little Jie gradually calmed down and sat beside him, listening. Su Nianqin switched his watch back and told Wuyan that once a gift is given, it shouldn't be taken back. Using the excuse of having no dance partner, Su Nianqin dragged Wuyan to a banquet. Feeling bored, Wuyan busied herself eating snacks at the table.

At that moment, a young man named Peng Ruixing approached to strike up a conversation. Curious how someone dressed so plainly had entered such an upscale event, Peng asked Wuyan. She casually replied that she was a staff member, there to test whether the food was poisoned. Amused by her response, Peng Ruixing found her interesting. However, Wuyan had no interest in chatting with someone who seemed like a rich playboy.

As she turned to leave, she accidentally pulled the tablecloth, causing a minor incident. Peng Ruixing turned out to be the young heir of Tuoluo Company and the younger brother of Miss Peng. When others started questioning Wuyan’s identity, Su Nianqin stepped forward and introduced her as his fiancée. Miss Peng had originally liked Su Nianqin a lot. Seeing this sudden "Cinderella" appear as his fiancée left her surprised and somewhat jealous.

Su Nianqin used the argument from three years ago—when Wuyan said before leaving, “If you’re willing, we’ll get married after I visit my father”—as the reason he wanted to reconcile and register for marriage. Wuyan refused. Su Nianqin and Wei Hao had a private meeting at the company. As the boss, Su Nianqin “forced” Wei Hao to talk about his relationship and marriage with Xu Qian. Wei Hao replied that it was his private life and not easy to share. But if Su Nianqin really wanted to win Wuyan back, he needed to weigh what mattered more—her or his pride. Pursuing a girl required swallowing your pride.

Episode 20 Recap

Su Nianqin caught a cold from the rain. After hearing the news, Wuyan became worried and secretly visited him at the hospital. However, Su Nianqin’s illness wasn’t serious. Despite his whining, Wuyan felt he was making a fuss. Wuyan visited her father with her mother and shared details about her graduate studies and part-time radio work. She had clearly matured over the past three years.

Her mother’s views had also changed—she now hoped Wuyan would find a caring boyfriend, regardless of family background. While shopping, Wuyan ran into Peng Ruixing from Tuoluo Company. Peng said he was interested in any woman Su Nianqin liked. During their conversation, they fell trying to avoid a bicycle, and Wuyan scraped her head. They went to the hospital together to treat the wound.

To test Su Nianqin’s sincerity and also cut off his sister’s feelings for him, Peng Ruixing told Su Nianqin that Wuyan had been in a traffic accident. Su Nianqin immediately paused a meeting and rushed to the hospital. When Wuyan found out that Peng Ruixing had exaggerated and informed Su Nianqin, she got angry and left. While waiting for the elevator, she secretly hoped to see Su Nianqin rushing in to find her. She missed several elevators but eventually left.

When Su Nianqin arrived, he only saw Peng, who admitted the truth. Su Nianqin said that as long as Wuyan was okay, that was enough and asked Peng to stay away from her in the future. Cheng Yin pointed out that Su Nianqin had done so much for Wuyan. Faced with such a sincere man, she wondered why Wuyan still refused him.

Wuyan said she once thought that only in her early twenties would she be into someone as domineering yet innocent as Su Nianqin, but years later, she was shocked to find she still liked his type. Perhaps she hadn’t agreed to date him because, as she grew older, she became more afraid of losing something after gaining it. Su Nianqin returned to the company and told Yu Xiaolu that it seemed like Wuyan no longer loved him.

But no matter what, his love for her would continue. Yu Xiaolu met with Wuyan in a restaurant and told her everything Su Nianqin had done for her in the past three years—though he hadn’t shown up, he had always been quietly caring for her. He arranged to preserve her father’s university office, helped her get the night shift radio job, and personally came to Tuoluo only after hearing she had started dating again.

Su Nianqin hadn’t shown up in three years because he felt guilty about her father and couldn’t face Wuyan. Upon learning the truth, Wuyan thought he was a lunatic. If he could be a scumbag all the way, she wouldn’t care, but now that his attitude had done a 180, she didn’t know how to handle it. Wuyan, feeling upset, drank with Xu Qian. After getting drunk, she called Su Nianqin and started yelling at him.

Su Nianqin immediately contacted Xu Qian, got the address, and came to pick her up. Seeing her hugging a wine bottle and making a scene, he felt nothing but joy and promised to never be mean to her again.

Episode 21 Recap

When Wuyan woke up with a hangover and saw Su Nianqin, she said she still loved him. Su Nianqin felt the same. They finally got back together. After returning to Xiamen, Su Nianqin worked overtime but still made time to call his girlfriend. He shared a playlist with Wuyan, saying you could feel a person’s presence just by listening to a song. Wuyan had dinner with friends, and Su Nianqin joined.

Both got drunk, and Xu Qian called a car for them. Wuyan took Su Nianqin home and tiptoed inside to avoid waking her mom. In her room, she asked if Su Nianqin had someone secretly take photos of her during those three years. He admitted he had, but he never dared look at them—he was afraid that if he did, he wouldn’t be able to stop himself from seeking her out.

The next morning, still groggy, they heard her mom knocking. Wuyan hurriedly wrapped Su Nianqin in the quilt and stepped out to divert her mom. Since Su Nianqin still smelled like alcohol, he wanted to change clothes. Luckily, Wuyan had recently bought him a shirt while shopping. It fit well, but while he was changing, her mom unexpectedly walked in and was stunned to see a half-dressed man in her daughter’s room.

Wuyan quickly called Xu Qian and Wei Hao for help. Wei Hao comforted Su Nianqin, who had been kicked out, telling him not to worry—getting the mother-in-law’s approval was just a matter of bracing yourself. Wuyan told her mom that this man was Su Nianqin, the only one she had ever loved, now and in the future. Hearing this at the door, Su Nianqin rushed in, bowed to Wuyan’s mom, and took full responsibility.

Her mom was stunned once again by his actions. After smoothing things over, Wuyan walked Su Nianqin out and gave him a video recorded with a camera from their relationship three years ago. At home, Su Nianqin happily rewatched their past moments. The next day, they went to a movie together. Su Nianqin said the movie was boring and fell asleep shortly after it started.

After it ended, he got a call from Wuyan’s mom reminding him to send her daughter home on time. He promised he would. After Su Nianqin returned to Xiamen, Wuyan decided to surprise him with a visit. He was thrilled to see her, but just as they were walking together, the elevator broke down again. Having had a bad experience before with Cheng Yin, Wuyan was scared. Su Nianqin comforted her, saying he would always be there.

Once the elevator was fixed and they got home, Su Nianqin made tomato and egg noodles. Wuyan was amazed by how much his cooking skills had improved. While eating, they talked about whether she should return to work at the Xiamen radio station. Su Nianqin was supportive. Wuyan contacted Sister Xi, who said the original music program had been shelved after Wuyan left three years ago. Now that she was back, they could try to restart it.

Wuyan was very grateful for the help. Back home, she saw Su Nianqin practicing his handwriting while reviewing contracts. She was curious how he had learned so many characters and managed such a big business in just three years. Su Nianqin admitted that when he first took over the business, he had botched several big deals due to his reading difficulties. But compared to failing in business, his father was more afraid he would give up entirely.

Episode 22 Recap

On the eve of the Spring Festival, Su Nianqin, who had barely taken a break since taking over the family business three years ago, suddenly began his annual leave. He also requested that all executives refrain from sending him any work emails during the holiday. Everyone was surprised by this sudden shift in their boss’s approach to life and work. His secretary speculated that perhaps he had entered a new phase in life.

One day, a radio host had a sudden stomachache, and Sang Wuyan kindly took her to the hospital. Afterwards, she stepped in to host the program. Su Nianqin, who had come to pick her up from work, couldn’t reach her by phone and panicked, thinking something had gone wrong again. He rushed to the station, arriving just as Wuyan’s program ended. The two danced together to the music in the broadcasting room.

During the Spring Festival, Su Nianqin planned to accompany Wuyan home to formally meet his future mother-in-law. Before setting off, he seemed unusually anxious, a contrast to his normally calm demeanor, which Wuyan found amusing. Su Nianqin remarked, “Well, the higher the path, the greater the challenge,” then took out a prepared ring to propose. However, the proposal was interrupted by a sudden message from Wuyan’s mother.

Following her mother’s request, the two bought a lot of vegetables and fruits to prepare for the New Year’s Eve dinner. In the kitchen, Su Nianqin once again took out the ring to propose. Wuyan told him he should follow the movie cliché and get down on one knee. Su Nianqin said standing was more his style, then took her hand and slipped the ring on her finger.

When Wuyan’s mother returned with soy sauce and saw the ring on her daughter’s finger, she was thrilled and overjoyed. At the New Year’s Eve dinner, Wuyan’s many aunts and uncles and nieces and nephews gathered. Faced with a table full of relatives, Su Nianqin looked overwhelmed. Just then, Wuyan brought out the final dish and urged everyone not to make things difficult for her husband. The next day, Wuyan’s mother took two children to visit Wuyan’s father.

After finding a way to momentarily get her daughter out of the room, she apologized for the harsh words she had said over the phone years ago. Su Nianqin said he understood. Then, on behalf of her husband, she told Su Nianqin a few heartfelt words, expressing her hope that he would treat her daughter well in the future. Wei Hao came to offer New Year’s greetings, but neither Wuyan nor her mother were home.

When he heard from Su Nianqin that Wuyan had gone to see Cheng Yin, Wei Hao revealed that Cheng Yin had died three years ago in the elevator accident. Although everyone knew about her claustrophobia, no one was aware she also had a severe heart condition. While Wuyan only sustained minor injuries, Cheng Yin suffered a heart attack in the dark elevator and passed away.

Ever since, Wuyan had been imagining Cheng Yin’s presence, sometimes even displaying her speech patterns and personality. To their friends, this behavior was a form of self-protection, and perhaps the best approach was not to expose or confront it. After learning the truth, Su Nianqin personally went to pick up Wuyan from Cheng Yin’s apartment. Seeing Wuyan in such grief, he was filled with heartache but chose not to expose the truth.

Instead, he asked someone to investigate whether Wuyan was renting Cheng Yin’s former place, and upon confirmation, he gently encouraged her to return to Xiamen soon. Wuyan said she needed to handle things at home first. After the New Year, Su Nianqin conspired with Sister Xiaolu, pretending his eyes were acting up post-surgery to trick Wuyan into returning to Xiamen. Under her insistence, he finally went for a hospital check-up, where the doctor noted that his past alcohol abuse might have affected his post-surgery eyes.

Episode 23 Recap

After Wuyan once again called “Cheng Yin,” Su Nianqin finally realized how serious the situation was and sought advice from a doctor. Wuyan herself didn’t avoid him, but the “Cheng Yin” in her mind was very wary of him. The doctor noted that since “Cheng Yin” usually didn’t appear when Su Nianqin was with Wuyan, spending more time alone together might help reduce her symptoms.

The doctor explained that while bringing Wuyan to the hospital for interventional therapy might help alleviate symptoms more quickly, it could also cause more psychological burdens in the long run. Therefore, conservative treatment was more appropriate. Wuyan received a call from Yu Weilan, who shared that her stepmother relationship with Su Nianqin had been very poor. At one point, he had lost the ability to love due to psychological issues.

But Wuyan’s arrival changed him—he gradually overcame the inner demons that had trapped him for years. Yu Weilan believed that Su Nianqin deeply loved Wuyan and hoped she would marry him with peace of mind. Wuyan agreed to accompany Su Nianqin to visit his father. One night, Wuyan watched a movie about friendship and loss. She wanted to tell Su Nianqin about it, but when she reached the part about losing a friend, she grew emotional and couldn’t go on.

The next day, Su Nianqin had someone study the movie, which turned out to be about a Nobel Prize winner who struggled with delusions all his life. After Wuyan completed her graduate studies, Su Nianqin and her mother attended her graduation ceremony. He planned for them to marry right after. While preparing for the wedding at a bridal shop, Wuyan ran into Peng Ruixing, whom she hadn’t seen in a long time.

Wearing a pink shirt, he jokingly told her that if she regretted accepting Su Nianqin’s proposal, he was always available as a backup. The day before the wedding, following the Su family tradition, Su Nianqin returned to the ancestral home for the night. That evening, both he and Wuyan, unable to sleep, talked on the phone until they fell asleep. The next morning, Wuyan, reluctant to get out of bed on her big day, was woken up by her mother.

At the wedding, Wuyan walked toward Su Nianqin with her eyes closed, recalling their first meeting with every step. Su Nianqin looked at his bride, grateful that she chose to love him. After the ceremony, Wuyan handed the bouquet to Sister Xi. After marriage, Su Nianqin insisted on maintaining a small ritual: every day, he would ring the doorbell and wait for Wuyan to open the door and embrace him.

When Wuyan noticed this, she started leaving the door unlocked, expecting him to walk in directly. But Su Nianqin would still ring the bell and wait. Eventually, Wuyan left the door wide open, but he still stopped outside, rang the bell, and waited for her to come greet him before entering. Wuyan found this behavior puzzling and mentioned it to Xiaolu, who found it endearing.

She explained that this was likely Su Nianqin’s way of expressing his sense of ritual, just like giving her a ring and writing a marriage certificate. These actions were his way of showing how important Wuyan was to him. Having her open the door every day was his way of seeking reassurance that he was equally important to her.

Episode 24 (Ending) Recap

Su Nianqin wrote a song called “Meeting You” for Wuyan. She thought he was returning to the music industry, but he told her he had already put down the pen, and this song was written only for her. With his permission, Wuyan played the song once on her radio show—just once. Wuyan brought Xiao Jie home to take care of him for a few days.

When Su Nianqin returned from work and saw how attentively his wife cared for the autistic boy, he got a little jealous and barely touched his dinner. The next morning, Xiao Jie fell and cried loudly while Wuyan was out buying breakfast. Su Nianqin didn’t comfort him but instead said, “Even if you’re a kid, you’re a man. You can’t just cry whenever you want. A man’s duty is to protect the weak.”

When Wuyan returned and saw Xiao Jie injured, she scolded Su Nianqin a bit, but the boy said as long as he could move, he was fine. Wuyan was surprised by the boy’s response. She realized that while Su Nianqin might not have the best temper, he really knew how to handle children. He had taught the once withdrawn, weepy boy quite well. That very day, she asked Su Nianqin whether he wanted a boy or a girl.

Su Nianqin said he preferred a girl. Just the day after they talked about children, Wuyan felt unwell while brushing her teeth in the morning. A hospital visit confirmed she was pregnant. Su Nianqin was overjoyed when he got the news and remained in high spirits for days, leaving his executives baffled and nervous during meetings. One day, when Su Nianqin came home early to take care of his pregnant wife, Wuyan noticed he didn’t ring the doorbell.

She immediately called Xiaolu with this exciting news. Xiaolu said this might mean Su Nianqin finally felt secure in their marriage. The arrival of the baby gave him a sense of dual responsibility and affirmation as a husband and a father, so he no longer needed external rituals for reassurance. Su Nianqin suddenly became worried that his congenital eye condition might be hereditary. He consulted a doctor, who said it couldn’t be confirmed.

Wuyan, however, was very reassured—both of Su Nianqin’s parents had healthy eyesight, so the condition likely wasn’t genetic, and their baby would be fine. Su Nianqin’s true identity as Yi Jin, the president of the group, was exposed by a former radio station employee. He instructed the company’s PR department to handle it and refused to make any public statement. At home, when Wuyan and the nanny heard the news, Wuyan felt unwell.

Su Nianqin called her and told her to lock the doors and windows to prevent reporters from barging in, and that he would take her away as soon as he got home. That night, Su Nianqin took Wuyan to their old apartment. In the elevator, Wuyan suddenly had intense stomach pain and was rushed to the hospital. Before entering the operating room, the couple held hands tightly, and Wuyan feared she might lose the baby.

Years later, Su Nianqin and Wuyan were out walking with their daughter. When Wuyan picked a leaf, their daughter scolded her, saying it was wrong. Su Nianqin agreed with her. The couple reminisced about their days teaching at the special education institute. Su Nianqin said he had struggled for a long time but couldn’t help falling for Wuyan. To this day, he was grateful she found him and changed his life—allowing him to live so happily now.
