The Journey of Chongzi Episode 40 (Ending) Recap
> The Journey of Chongzi Recap
Chong Zi's resolve to defy the immortal sects remained unshaken. Luo Yinfan, knowing further words were futile, envisioned their future as adversaries. He implored her to release her obsession, if only for one day, and be his Chong Zi alone. Chong Zi agreed. As they embraced from day to night, Luo Yinfan asked if her past promise to protect the common people still held true. Chong Zi replied that she wished it did, but the world wouldn't allow it.
If there was no place for her, she would destroy the old world and establish a new order. The following morning, Luo Yinfan reluctantly bid farewell to Chong Zi, kissing her forehead and telling her that she would always be his Chong'er. They both shed tears as he watched her depart. Luo Yinfan later knelt, seemingly before his master, stating that he had mastered the Mirror Heart Skill as per the ancient texts but couldn't activate it.
Yu Du, who was present, explained that as a method of the God World, it required letting go of all emotions and desires to become a god, something Luo Yinfan, burdened by his love, found impossible. Luo Yinfan then declared his intention to live and die with Chong Zi. With the immortal-demon war imminent, immortal sages convened in Nanhua to strategize.
Luo Yinfan offered to confront the Celestial Demon by himself, but the others opposed him, emphasizing Chong Zi's power with the Tianmo Token to summon myriad demons from the Void. They prioritized reinforcing the Heavenly Lake with Resting Soil and Colorful Stones to prevent demonic invasion and securing the mortal realm as their best hope of defeating the Celestial Demon. Meanwhile, demonic energy spread, causing chaos and panic among mortals. Luo Yinfan met Hai Sheng at the deserted Xichun Restaurant.
Hai Sheng expressed concern over Chong Zi's impending attack on the immortal sects. Luo Yinfan reassured him that Chong Zi hadn't changed and would sacrifice herself before harming the common people. Soon, dark magic clouds appeared, and Wang Yue manifested, effortlessly reclaiming the Resting Soil from the Heavenly Lake, causing its defenses to collapse. Chong Zi issued a command, leading her demonic army to assail the Immortal World.
The Nanhua Sect confronted them, and Luo Yinfan engaged Chong Zi in a fierce battle at the Six-world Monument. During the escalating conflict, Hai Sheng and his disciples bravely assisted mortals in escaping the encroaching danger. Qin Ke, despite no longer being a Nanhua disciple, resolutely joined the fray, declaring his fight was not for Nanhua or Chong Zi, but for the common people.
As the battle raged, Chong Zi unleashed the Tianmo Token, aiming to shatter the Six-world Monument and summon an endless horde of demons. The immortals struggled against the overwhelming force, feeling a profound sense of despair. As the Six-world Monument's sacred light dimmed, Luo Yinfan, its guardian, chose a path of mutual destruction with Chong Zi. When Chong Zi's demonic sword pierced him, she realized he had only used the hilt to meet her blade.
He had willingly severed his own meridians before her strike, choosing to sacrifice his life to achieve a state of emotionlessness. With his last vestiges of spiritual power, he cleansed Chong Zi of her evil breath. The Six-world Monument then crumbled. Min Yunzhong, expending all his spiritual power in a desperate attempt to restore it, instructed Yu Du to care for Nanhua before dissipating his essence. Zhuo Yao was crushed by falling debris while shielding his son, Zhuo Hao.
Witnessing his father's demise, Zhuo Hao, heartbroken, found clarity and dedicated his remaining strength to aiding in the monument's repair. Qin Ke, seeing Min Yunzhong’s incomplete effort, also soared upwards, making a similar sacrifice to stabilize the Six-world Monument, fulfilling his duty to the common people. He lamented not being able to protect Chong Zi better, hoping she would find a path away from harm.
Chong Zi found herself in the Realm of Void, where the scenes she witnessed were echoes of her deepest desires. Luo Yinfan appeared, explaining that he had already severed his meridians before their final duel and that she should not blame herself, as all his actions were voluntary. He revealed that through her, he had finally mastered the Mirror Heart Skill, cleansing her of all evil breath and granting her freedom.
Chong Zi had yearned for a world without immortal sects, where demon and immortal were equal and the mortal realm at peace. However, Luo Yinfan patiently explained that true strength did not come from aggression, and the conflict between immortals and demons was eternal, requiring the balance of immortal power to check the formidable demon race. He asserted that destruction was instantaneous, but rebirth would eventually come. Accepting Luo Yinfan's departure, Chong Zi believed in a future rebirth.
Wang Yue, however, still harbored malicious intentions, attempting to further manipulate Chong Zi for his own ends. Yu Du, observing Wang Yue's inexplicable control over the Resting Soil—a substance originating from the sealed Realm of Void—suddenly realized Wang Yue's true identity as a Demon of Void. Seizing the opportunity, Chong Zi sealed Wang Yue and destroyed the Tianmo Token, restoring peace to the six realms.
After the demonic sword was purified, Chong Zi bid farewell to Zhuo Hao and Yu Du. She then flew towards the Six-world Monument, merging with Luo Yinfan's lingering spirit to become a sword spirit, soaring into the heavens. Overwhelmed by grief, Zhuo Hao collapsed, his black hair turning silver instantly. Yu Du watched them ascend, his heart filled with a myriad of emotions. A century passed, bringing peace to the six realms and prosperity to the mortal world.
Qin Ke was reincarnated as Zhan Tong, once again becoming a Nanhua disciple under Yu Du. Only Zhuo Hao remained, guarding the vast Qinghua Palace, living amidst his cherished memories. The tragic immortal-demon war of a hundred years prior had been romanticized and distorted in common tales. Chong Zi sat in the Xichun Restaurant, listening intently, until Luo Yinfan returned with fine wine. Hand in hand, they walked out, seemingly an ordinary, loving couple.
Without the presence of a demonic sword trailing them, who would ever know they were once Sage Chonghua and Demon Zi? A hundred years was not a short time for mortals, but for Chong Zi and Luo Yinfan, their happiness had only just begun, promising countless more lifetimes together.
