The Journey of Chongzi Episode 36 Recap
> The Journey of Chongzi Recap
Chong Zi, wielding a demonic sword, stormed Nanhua Palace and advanced towards Luo Yinfan. Her body radiated an intense evil breath, imbued with a chilling hatred that threatened to destroy all. She demanded to know if Luo Yinfan had killed Tian Zhixie, and he confirmed it. Chong Zi then vowed that Nanhua would perish with Tian Zhixie. Luo Yinfan scoffed, asking how she could succeed where even her father failed.
As they clashed fiercely, Yu Du observed, noting that despite her severe injuries, Chong Zi's evil breath was astonishingly potent. He feared that if she continued to develop, her power might even surpass that of Ni Lun. Chong Zi confronted Luo Yinfan, asking how many more people around her he intended to kill. Luo Yinfan justified killing Tian Zhixie as Wang Yue's key subordinate.
Chong Zi then questioned why he didn't kill her, given her lineage as a blood relative of the Demon King. Luo Yinfan claimed he believed she still harbored kind intentions. He then urged her to cast aside the demon sword and repent if she still recognized him as her master. Chong Zi defiantly refused. Luo Yinfan momentarily faltered, feeling the Heart Poison flare up again, but swiftly suppressed it.
He asserted that he didn't know what had transpired between them in the past, but having witnessed her massacring Kunlun Sect and Nanhua disciples, he deemed her beyond redemption. He declared he never had such a disciple and would not in the future, concluding that if he ever harbored inappropriate feelings for her, it was time to end them. He then attacked her, causing her to cough up blood.
Just as Luo Yinfan was about to deliver a killing blow, Zhuo Hao and Qin Ke intervened, pushing him back. Zhuo Hao declared himself the Lord of Qinghua Palace, warning that attacking Chong Zi would mean war with Qinghua. Min Yunzhong accused Qin Ke of betraying the immortal sect by aiding a demon and moved to kill him, but Yu Du shielded Qin Ke, stating he would not allow anyone to harm his disciple.
Seeing Qin Ke’s choice, Yu Du regretfully stated that since he had chosen his path, he was no longer a Nanhua disciple. Qin Ke knelt, apologizing for his disobedience and for failing Nanhua’s cultivation, then quickly departed with Zhuo Hao and Chong Zi. Once outside Nanhua, Chong Zi thanked Zhuo Hao and Qin Ke but urged them to leave her alone, unwilling to entangle them further. She admitted her intention in coming to Nanhua had been to die.
However, since she survived Luo Yinfan's blade, she believed it was her destiny to live and become stronger to avenge Tian Zhixie. She insisted they stay far away from her, even though they were among the few immortal sect members she trusted, as too many people had already sacrificed their lives for her. She bid them a final farewell, declaring their ties broken. Qin Ke then set off to find an antidote for Luo Yinfan's memory loss.
Zhuo Hao returned to Qinghua Palace, expecting punishment from his father, Zhuo Yao, but was surprised when Zhuo Yao simply stated that as the Lord of Qinghua, his decisions were Qinghua's decisions, and he would not interfere. Back at Chonghua Palace, Luo Yinfan confronted Ting Xue, questioning her about Chong Zi, the Zhubo sword hanging on the gate, Qin Ke's remarks, and Zhuo Yunji's death, demanding the complete truth.
Ting Xue, feigning innocence, accused Luo Yinfan of doubting her based solely on Qin Ke and Zhuo Hao's words. She reiterated that Chong Zi, as Ni Lun's daughter, was inherently his enemy and argued against dwelling on the past when Chong Zi had just tried to kill him. Ting Xue then asked if her service was insufficient or if she was truly inferior to Chong Zi. Luo Yinfan, however, insisted he only cared about the truth.
Ting Xue claimed ignorance of the truth, then added that even if she knew, she would not reveal it for his own good. Frustrated, Luo Yinfan ordered her to leave Chonghua Palace, stating he had no heart to teach her. Chong Zi returned to the demon palace, where Wang Yue mocked her defeat at Nanhua. She requested his help in increasing her power to defeat Luo Yinfan and avenge Tian Zhixie.
Wang Yue proposed that she become a martyr for the demon sword, merging with it to unleash its full power and surpass even Ni Lun. Chong Zi immediately refused, recalling Chu Bufu's dying plea not to lose herself to the demon path. Wang Yue argued that great achievements require abandoning love and hate, implying Ni Lun failed due to his affections. Chong Zi rejected his counsel, telling him to become a martyr himself if he desired such power.
Seeing her defiance, Wang Yue decided to use an alternative strategy. He instructed Mengji to spread a rumor among the immortal sects that Chong Zi intended to become a martyr for the sword. Meanwhile, a demon captured near Qinghua Mountain revealed Chong Zi's supposed plan to become a martyr. This news caused widespread panic among the immortal sects, as a fully powered demon sword would wreak havoc comparable to, or even exceeding, Ni Lun's destruction.
Zhuo Hao informed his father, Zhuo Yao, who also expressed concern about the unimaginable consequences. Zhuo Hao offered to personally persuade Chong Zi to abandon her plan, believing he had a responsibility to stop her. Despite Zhuo Yao's initial worries about his safety, he allowed Zhuo Hao to go, trusting his son as the Lord of Qinghua Palace to act judiciously and protect the immortal realm. Luo Yinfan's Heart Poison continued to flare, bringing fleeting, unclear memories.
He again confronted Min Yunzhong and Yu Du, demanding answers about his memory loss, the Tears of Phoenix, and his past with Chong Zi. He threatened to seek information from other sect leaders if they continued to conceal the truth. Min Yunzhong, realizing he could no longer hide it, allowed Yu Du to confess that Luo Yinfan had taken Tears of Phoenix, a potion that erases memories of one's deepest love.
Yu Du added that this was done for Luo Yinfan's well-being and Nanhua's reputation, claiming Chong Zi was merely a "devil" who sought to seduce him. They asserted that since the Tears of Phoenix had no antidote, they would ensure he never remembered her. Luo Yinfan was stunned, realizing that his fragmented memories and the very nature of the potion confirmed his profound feelings for Chong Zi.
He declared he would handle his own affairs and stormed out, determined to find his own answers. Yu Du worried about the potion's effect on Luo Yinfan's mental state, noting that a forget-love potion would only work if there was love to forget. In the demon world, Zhuo Hao arrived at the Demon King Hall to meet Chong Zi. Wang Yue, asserting the demon world's rules, demanded that Zhuo Hao, as a visitor, comply.
Zhuo Hao agreed and endured the Blood Torture. Wang Yue then presented a bloodied and injured Zhuo Hao to Chong Zi, claiming it was the necessary price for seeing her. Enraged by Zhuo Hao's suffering, Chong Zi ordered him to be brought to Shuiyue City immediately, unharmed. She chastised Zhuo Hao for ignoring her warnings to stay away, but he dismissed his injuries as superficial compared to her suffering.
Zhuo Hao implored her not to become a martyr for the sword, explaining it would destroy her physical body and mind, leaving her a puppet manipulated by evil breath. He offered to take her away from the Demon World to travel the realms, promising he was not Luo Yinfan and would never let her be hurt again. Chong Zi gently but firmly refused, confessing that the only person she truly loved was Luo Yinfan, who had repeatedly betrayed her.
She clarified that her feelings for Zhuo Hao were those of a friend, not romantic love. She promised him she would not become a martyr and would never harm Qinghua disciples, then asked him to forget her and to show no mercy if they ever met as adversaries. Heartbroken, Zhuo Hao accepted her wishes. As Zhuo Hao departed Shuiyue City, Mengji ambushed him, inflicting him with the Heart Poison.
She then preyed on his anguish, projecting images of Chong Zi's suffering and telling him he was powerless to help her. Mengji fueled his hatred for Luo Yinfan, suggesting that killing Luo Yinfan would be the only way to truly free Chong Zi. Driven by grief, anger, and a desperate desire to protect Chong Zi, Zhuo Hao accepted a demonic pill from Mengji, believing it would grant him the power he needed, even if it meant becoming a demon.
Meanwhile, Luo Yinfan wandered into the mortal realm and found himself in Xichun Restaurant. The familiar yet strange surroundings stirred faint memories. A waiter, recognizing him, remarked on his long absence and inquired about "Miss Zi," recalling how she had once waited for him there for two days and two nights with a lavish meal, which ultimately went to waste when he never arrived.
As the waiter spoke, blurry fragments of memories of Chong Zi and their shared meals in the restaurant flashed through Luo Yinfan's mind. He was overcome with pain, realizing that he had indeed lost Chong Zi. Unbeknownst to him, Chong Zi walked past Xichun Restaurant moments later, missing Luo Yinfan as he stepped out of the establishment, their paths narrowly diverging. Later, Luo Yinfan encountered Hai Sheng and his disciple being attacked by Tianshan Sect members.
After rescuing them, he learned that Hai Sheng knew Chong Zi, who had once saved his life. Hai Sheng's disciple explained that their sect, Fusheng, had been persecuted by the Tianshan Sect because Hai Sheng had refused to believe Chong Zi had become a demon at an immortal sect meeting.
Hai Sheng staunchly defended Chong Zi, asserting that even if she had become a demon, she must have had a profound reason, and that genuine kindness of heart superseded any distinction between immortal and demon. Luo Yinfan confirmed that Chong Zi had indeed become a demon, then asked Hai Sheng to describe her character.
